Why do you need that, the phone has a good battery and will get uggly with this one
Could see a need for such......not for every-day usage but as spare battery when you want to see a (whole) movie while travelling.....

Could someone build a widget to loop the "cat sys/class/power_supply/battery/current_now" script every 30 seconds or so and display the results in the widget? This could give you an accurate idea of how much power your phone is using regularly.
UPDATE
rm9 has made a widget off this idea, he has posted it to the market.

Gotta bump this while noting I'd pay for such a widget.
+1 for payage
EDIT: Or, even better, a graphical history widget like SeePU++
I have never done programming before, but this might be enough for me to look into and see if I can learn enough to put something together.
What are the units for current_now ?

Microamps, Probably would be best for the widget to display in Milliamps.

It displays total current to/from the battery, - means it is discharging the battery, + means it is charging the battery, so if you have a - while charging it means you are pulling more power then your power supply can provide.

great, thanks.
is this the same as when you use OS Monitor, look in messages, and filter dmesg for "batt" or similar? is that what this thread is asking for? if so that would be sweet!

Parsing messages from dmesg about the battery would allow the widget to provide A LOT more information about your battery state, sweet!
Great info. Was looking for a way to get the power draw. I'm thinking of creating an app like CPUStatusLED, but for the battery draw

The LED would not provide a very accurate representation of current draw, A widget could provide Current, Voltage, Temperature.
The widget is almost finished. Just need to add configuration and some design
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
cool

I am a heavy torrent user and usually depend on overnight torrenting to get all my stuff done.
With my previous phone, I used to download using ttorrent all night and I have a few concerns now regarding my new S III.
So, what are the adverse effects of leaving a torrent download overnight with the AC adapter connected?
Any help appreciated.

mostly common issues in android buddy.
i suggest u to atleast charge ur device 3 hour in morning.
And Disable Samsung Push Services from Application manager and which system app u dont use. if u rooted use than best thing is deleted unwanted system apps.

It's for the 3G itself.
How long do you suppose your battery would give you in 3G mode?
...how long do you use your phone in one charge, anyway?

..yeah your battery's probably screwed. I'd suggest take a new one
3G can consume a lot of battery in low quality connections. Maybe it is your case.
Verify if it happens on a specific location or everywhere.
Also, configure network mode to WCDMA only. It avoids phone for checking which connection is better (3G or 2G). It drains battery faster,

I ran across this several days ago and decided to test it on my own Le Max 2: With it I managed to get 6.5 hours SoT with fairly heavy web browsing (Opera) and music playback (Poweramp). I'm running AospExtended 5.4 Official 2018-04-17 and Helix Engine 2.0 Beta Free.

Kind regards,
Bill...
Thanks for this advice, i will test it, because it's a really good idea. Considering the fact, that i'm not a heavy user, it should be interesting, if the effect is still noticable.
For me too much apps that do not open or open very slowly at the moment.
I like the dynamic flow of slowing down or speeding up the CPU for the phone needs. I will check the development later on.....

That's probably due to the kernel your ROM is using. I've not experienced any of those problems with the ROM I'm using... :good:
Should I make changes to the default profile (I assume "Balanced Profile") or just leave it as it is?

I can confirm this, I uninstalled it hence. Also it didn't have any noticeable improvement like 1 hour SOT extra or so hence using it is a no no.

I just left at the default, which is Dynamic Balanced. By the way, that profile incorporates Battery, Balanced, and Performance mode switching.

It may. But I suspect you'll be better results with it if the device is rooted and allows Super User access. As a matter of fact, root access is required for it...
Is there something wrong with my phone? I have it over a year now and i noticed that during this time, its battery life completely dropped.
First it was like 70% of battery at the end of the day,
then like about 55 to 60 and now its 45.
i found out that google app is drainig a lot of power but obviously there is no way to stop it or to uninstall it.
Any advices? Im on stock 8.0.0.378 European software, zero modifications.
