Hay gang how can I get my free yahoo mail account on my Metro Flashed TP running Vetvitos rom ? I can't get it to work inless I turn off my proxy setting and then my internet doesn't work. Anyone know a work around this issue ? Any help would be great ! Thanks
Is your data connection setting on? I have his Rom and works great. Just add account in the Mail tab and add your username and password, It should work. let me know if this helps... Maybe I have understood your question wrong

Tell me your complete configuration for the internet connection set up and I'll see what I can tell you.
Free yahoo mail doesn't allow pop mail. You need to register for yahoo mail pro.

That is incorrect ! It works fine . No need to pay the $20 a year.
How then?
I've never seen this discussed... How do you get the Yahoo mail to sync? Do you have to access it through internet explorer or can you add the mailbox to your messaging the way you can with Hotmail?

Nah -- just select "Switch back to the old version" on the screen that's telling you you need IE 4+.
pdh
Are u sure? Its been a few months since i looked at yahoo, but anyhow, i didnt go into the main mail.yahoo.com site, because too much to download. They have a mail check for WAP, which is excellent.
did u try http://wap.oa.yahoo.com/
?
anyway since mail2web is no loner free this free service could come in handy http://www.alol.net.br
if you get the following message:"the security certificate on the server is not valid. contact your exchange server administrator or ISP to install a valid certificate on the server."
Try to use without ssl connection. Or enter in https://win.alol.net.br and get the certficate file and copy to your phone and run the certificate file .cer.
Both options should work.
certificate attached below.
has anyone tried it ? i'm currently using windows live but i'm not too happy with it since i have to forward my gmail to my live acc...
anyway i have tried these services as well:
emoze - only 1mb attachment size
emansio - doesn't work with gmail when HSDPA is enabled (customer service sad that that will be fixed in their next release)
seven - service is unreliable , and too buggy for me (still beta).
WM live - doesn't allways sync (sometimes it takes up to 3hrs to sync my acc)
mail2web - no longer free
funambol - it doesn't exactly push mail.. it usually gets it within 10mins
imap pusher service - isn't stable , however a great and promising project
massaint direct push - http://dpush.massaint.com
It's free DirectPush , currently works only with gmail through ActiveSync
so does anyone have some more info on this alol.net.br exchange service - my main concern is if it's going to stay free and can i use a different "reply to/send" adress.
thanks
EDIT : added alol certificate
regards ;-)
I would rather use Chronobis ! Try that if you want Outlook emails on mobile !
It works perfect. Pushes in a second, 1GB space, up to 100MB attachment. Thanks for sharing. But looks you can't use different address.
This free service is exchange 2007 or 2003 server?

Thanks for your reply.
but I cant find about pushmail setting for alol.net.br...
It's on the first page after you create an account:
Mobile Direct Push Mail Configuration:
Exchange Server Address: win.alol.net.br
User Name: <your username>
Password: <your password>
Domain: ALOL
Google is also providing an exchange-service (mail + calendar + contacts)

are you sure that you can sync mail? i know about calendar and contacts.
are you using something like nuevasync?
Works with your desktop Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2010
Very nice, but you can't use your existing Windows Live account for it. The only way to get those emails would be to foward them. Other than that, if you're looking for a new email address, this is fantastic!

Google is only providing Calendar and Contacts. Not mail.

Really? Thought it was also syncing emails when i tried it.
I don't remember exactly, i'm only using calendar + contacts.

I think you can add a GMail account to your Mail on your phone, but it doesn't use the Exchange server at all, it just goes through POP or IMAP or whatever it uses.
i use alol since 2 weeks now and i must sat that it is really reliable.
i sync ppc, tabletpc and desktop pc (mail, calendar, contacts n tasks).
the guy from alol was very helpful to configure all of this.
but if u want to also sync ourlook 2007 sp2 with alol (and any other xchange i guess), you will have to dl a hotfix for outlook, unless you configure the account before applying sp2. i did a lot of search and test before understandin and finding that.
u can pm if you need
btw, i recommand alol, it is working very well (i ger all my email from several addresses with gmail and forward all 2 alol; so that i get push for all boxes with 1 only account. little drawback: i answer all my mails with alol address)
@lezink
Can U tell me, which outlook hotfix it ist, because i´m having also trouble with alol an the Outlook 2007 SP2. I can´t connect to the server.
My mobile syncs without problems, but I want to sync my desktop pc also.
Thanx

Hmm that's true. Idk, I actually never thought about that. Bad idea by me, most likely. Well I'll tell you if anything happens. I noticed that they seem to be from Mexico or another Spanish speaking place, because all of their e-mails have spanish in the headers, like the to and from parts.
Hey all,
On my SGS 2 right from the get go, I cant add an IMAP or POP account to the phone.
When it goes to check the incoming settings, it connects to the server (I can see the logs as its my mail server), logs in and then the email app closes.
I've reset to factory defaults etc and no difference.
My Exchange account, hotmail acct etc are all fine. I just cant add an IMAP or POP account.
Running CF-Root 4.0 on Ke7 kernel. (also tried with stock kernel as well of course)
Ay ideas?
Weird, considering Hotmail is just POP?

Hotmail is a 'premium' service.
Its certainly very strange, and im completely stumped right now. Im using K-9 in the meantime, but I dont really like K-9 that much.
My first thought was it's something wrong with my mail server (using courier-imap and couriier-pop) but it does it on ANY pop or imap account. (at least that I have access to)
UPDATE: If I purposely get the login details wrong, the app will report incorrect login, but wont crash. Only if the login is valid does it crash
My stock email client configured to connect to exchange via notifylink crashes whenever I try to open a larger email. Sorry this has nothing to do with your issue, but maybe it will give you some pointers.

Odd, well I am guessing it's some weird setting in your mail server. Most likely it's your mail server is following the RFC, but the stock email app isn't XD

You and I would assume that as well, but I've tried it on a different server type in a different data center in a different country and it still FC's
I'm completely baffled...
usually, when i connect via ActiveSync my Yahoo email would download
now it doesn't, I dont know what I've changed or doing wrong.
If i click send/receive on my email tab it downloads.

You have push mail set on exchange server defined under ActiveSync?
If so, I recall having similar problems with m.google.com few months ago, the reason being that Activesync would no longer autostart. What helped in my case was simple removing the connection and then setting it again from the start. Not sure if you suffer from the same AS dementia, but maybe give it a try.

from what I've checked yahoo does not provide push service for Windows Mobile - so my initial guesss might have been wrong - but it can be done anyway, in two ways:
- link your yahoo account to gmail account, then configure gmail push
- use sth called seven recommended in this thread
I've just installed K9 on my Evo 3D running ICS.
I've tried to setup POP email accounts on both comcast.net and gmail.com (my gmail account is set to POP3). No matter what account I try, I receive this error message. It happens both if I let K9 automatically configure the account or if I do it manually (and I've triple checked that my settings are correct). Phone has both wifi and mobile network running. Default email app has no problems.
How do I fix this?
It is k9 it cant do pop

What the #### are you talking about? From the description: "K9 supports IMAP, POP3, and Exchange 2003/2007".

I never could get it to read my exchange email, very frustrating so I uninstalled.

Uhh, yeah it can, I've been using it for years with my POP AT&T account. Sounds like a server setup issue maybe, double check your settings, I know GMail requires secure server and I'm sure the Comcast one does as well.

Believe it or not, it suddenly started working. During setup it kept telling me it couldn't connect, then suddenly it was checking and receiving emails!
