Broken Wi-Fi - Hero, G2 Touch Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

About a month ago I threw my hero in a fit of rage and since that day ive been unable to get wi-fi working. Now its my understanding that all data, call etc. are made threw the "radio" chip, so if my wi-fi does not work then neither should my BT, Call's and 3G? If I'm wrong on this could it possibly be the WI-Fi is on a separate chip and that its become dislodged from the main board? Or is it just broke and unrepairable ........... hope not
Thanks in advance

Possible solution for 3g with GPS ?

I personally own a 3g WCDMA version of zpad, which i believe it is the same as g tablet from hardware aspect. except with more memory and internal 3g card.
i opened up the zpad and found inside is a mini-pci of Ericsson F3307 WCDMA 3g card for the 3G connection. I knew the linux driver F3307 and F3507g (with built-in GPS) share the same driver source code file, It will be nice to have built-in GPS and therefore I decided to give it a try.
I bought a second hand F3507g and plug into the zpad to replace the original F3307. It looks really good at beginning, the cellphone antenna indicator show full signal strength, When I look into wireless & network setting -> Mobile network -> Access Point Name. I was able to see a full list of provider that available, which means it is working. The SMS works, I even received few message while i was play around with F3507g.
Unfortunately, for unknow reason, i wasn't able to get connect with 3G network, I am not a hardware expert, so not exactly sure why APN is available but just can't get connected.
and as for GPS, nothing show in the setting menu to indicate the availability of GPS.
nothing really got work actaully, but it seems if some know system better can get both 3G and GPS work relatively easy!
anyway, for these who want a 3G on their g tablet, Ericsson F3307 maybe a way to go! the 3g WCDMA firmwares are available here in China.

I belive we are missing the connector for the module which would rquire delicate soldering

The connector is not soldered on, but the soldering isn't that bad since the connector is a through-hole component and the pads are quite large.
That's true, it didn't seems too difficult to solder these. With little patient and some skill, it shall not too difficult to put Ericsson F3307 into the g tablet and get a 3G connection. The 3G firmware is also available in Chinese z-pad forum, and i believe that TNT lite also use 3G firmware.
What really bother me is why F3507g doesn't work in 3G while I was able to receive SMS and get a full list of APN. and I have no idea how to enable the GPS which make this modification all senseless to me.

Gps don't work! Help

Hello guys I really need your help, my brother managed to cut the two antennas on my evo 3d, they are bluetooth and wireless, I brought in a technician and he put two new but not original, bluetooth and wireless work very well, but no gps works and when it works well signal gets weak. Can someone tell me oq is happening and a possible solution specific kernel? Thank you.
Well considering the other two antennas were damaged, I'm guessing something happened to the gps antenna as well. A kernel won't fix it.

The technician said that the antenna gps and bluetooth are the same, he put the new antennas. But the GPS signal is weak.
Well again, if it worked before, and now it doesn't, then obviously it wasn't fixed correctly. Take it back and have them fix it until they get it right.

[Q] Does dongle improve WiFi too?

I got my postcard and email regarding the class action settlement, so I might as well take the $17. But I already have a GPS dongle -- it showed up out of the blue a few months ago as I recall.
I haven't used it as all since I have no need for GPS with the way I use the tablet (GPS is much more useful on my phone), but something about the way the message was worded made me wonder if the dongle also has a WiFi antenna in it. The standard WiFi reception is definitely weak, although again it isn't a huge deal for me (I notice it most when connecting to hotel networks that are weak to begin with). So does the dongle do anything for WiFi?
Short answer, no.

[Q] Why is the mobile data on 3G and H so slow / not working at all?

Hey guys,
I'm currently having problems with my mobile data. I was running stock 4.3 and flashed to CM 13 (I did a backup of course). My mobile data was working fine at that moment.
Since my the front glass was broken but the LCD was intact, I decided to send in the S3 for repair to a shop that fixes the glass but does not touch the LCD. I got the device back two weeks later and everything was good.
The problem started happening, when I put in my SIM card, I noticed, that 3G or H is not working at all (or very slow). Pages took a minute to just load the HTML. I thought that it was probably an issue with CM 13 or APNs and updated to the newest nightly. Still, not working there. I tried calling the phone and sending SMS and everything worked.
I then decided to go back to my backup of Stock because maybe CM13 was bugged. But now the 3G is not even working on my backup of stock. Regular G works, but is too slow to use. When I switch to 3G the connection is too slow and acts strange by switching to G or just losing the connection entirely.
I checked my APN and that didn't help.
Could that been cause by the repair? Maybe broken the antenna or something? But isn't it inside of the phone and shouldn't be touched by a front glass repair?
It's not an EFS problem I think, since I still have my IMEI and calling works, internet on G works as well but not on 3G.
If it's the antenna, how hard is it to repair?
Thanks for trying to help me!
This happened to me,
Internet will only work on
E, G, H, and H+
Internet will not work on
3G
Ask your carrier if they use Fast Dormancy, I turned off Fast Formancy and it's fine
Edit: do research if you wanna know more about Fast Dormancy
Thanks for the help, but unfortunately that doesn't work either.
I've witness another strange phenomenon where the mobile data is working a few meter away from my house but not near it. The strange thing is, it used to work and also works on other smartphones with the same carrier.
Aliens.. No seriously.. If you can get Hspda then there's nothing wrong. Your device has determined that the signal isn't strong enough to lock on so it chooses a stronger signal.

Regarding low network signal (possible solution?)

I've been using this phone for the past few days, and I noticed that the network signal is really low and non existent in closed environments.
Today, I noticed this YT video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-QRcGrUK8M that explains how to change the network antenna.
And in the comments I noticed these comments that maybe it's not a non-functional antenna, it could be that one of the connectors are loosened.
The phone is still under warranty so I won't **** with it, and it isn't mine. If someone tries it, it would be nice to post it here because there are a lot of people with that phone that have that problem.
Did you check if the Signal Antenna cable was connected well? Problem might be that. And if the cable was connected well but it still can not work as before, the connetor might be damaged. you can replace it with a new one. hope this can help you.

I've opened my phone again, and noticed one of the connectors had loosened. Connected it back to the motherboard, and started up. Phone instantly had network signal again . Thanks for the response, and thank you for the great tutorials! Upvoted them! ^^

There is nothing such as loose connectivity. Either it's plugged or not. Switch to other modes, 3G, 2G and see if it is the same

Selecting 4G/3G or 2G didn't solve anything.
That seemed to solve problems to a lot of people.
For the past 3 days, I had half to full signal and I was satisfied with it totally, and suddenly it dropped to zero and lost it. I was furious, wasn't sure anymore was it HW or SW related. And I did some search through forums and I saw somewhere that reflashing the modem or baseband via Flashtool can be good.(I found a thread where people selected USA band and lost signal). And I thought to give a try.
When I restarted it, for few seconds it was blank and it went full bars. I was happy af
So reflashing the modem file that comes with the firmware can make solve it (at least in my case)
Now after 3 days, the problem returned. No signal again, so I'll have to flash it again
