Time to start asking questions about problems with 2.1 I downloaded Google earth but when I click the icon nothing happens, it just returns to my home screen without ever booting GE. I tried uninstall/reinstall. Any ideas?

Google Earth requires ARMv7 instruction set which the Eris does not have. It's not going to work. Read the requirements on Google's website.

I flashed the Smoked Widgets zip and now I'm stuck in a soft reboot loop. Sigh. Not a full reboot, just keeps going to black screen, no network connection, starting up again, scanning memory card, wash-rinse-repeat. Can't open any apps or do anything before it reboots itself again.
You have to do each .apk

I've gotten Twitter, News & Weather, & Pandora widgets to work
Trying to get the CalendarProvider, FaceBook, & Engadget widgets working, but no luck so far. If anyone does get them to work, I would love to hear what you did
I was stuck at the reboot after installing the Smoked zip as well. Reflashed to stock and then since I was there, installed Vibrant8. adb installed Twitter.apk. adb installer failed for the the Facebook.apk so I did a adb push for both the Facebook.apk and GenieWidget.apk.
All 3 apps loaded fine but when I tried to reboot the phone froze as it was loading up. I don't know if it is one of the apk's (Facebook?) that was causing the issue or Vibrant8 but it would be interesting to see if anyone with a Vibrant on 2.1 got the Facebook one to work after a reboot.
I'm on 2.1, and currently working on getting FB to work. I'll post my results and method later today (might wind up being more like very early tomorrow haha)

so i am trying to install these via root explorer, but i can't seem to find the apks for facebook or twitter in the system/app or root explorer?? it's on myu device but it must be named something else, anyone have a clue?

I moved both apps to /system/app before pushing the modified apk's through adb and I had no problems.
My phone was in the the store, I noticed it was a bit flaky when I attempted to download an app, sometimes it would work, other times not at all.
Yesterday there was 'an issue' with the Google Play store and free apps, if you attempted to send the app from your PC, it appeared to work as usual, however nothing on the phone happened, and if you attempted to download the app from the phone itself you got 'Error Completing Purchase'. A workaround was to clear the cache from a Google service (I forget which one, it did not help), anyway since the apparent 'fix' for there issue, my phone no longer appears on the Google Play Store at all.
I called Google and spoke with a really nice woman, who looked and asked if my phone was rooted, when I answered yes, she advised this is why it is was dropped, apparently Google does some kind of backup check for root users and does not add phones to the store that are rooted, which kind of makes sense, you register your phone when you first get it, and it's obviously not rooted, if you root and flash a custom ROM you again register however this time, Google checks to see if your rooted and does not add a duplicate entry to the Google Store.
Apparently my phone was dropped as part of the 'fix' for the Google Play Store, no idea how many others were dropped. I would have to revert back to stock to get it added back into the store again.
EDIT: I just checked the download page and It shows I am not rooted, which lends to the idea that there is indeed a second hidden root counter in the Galaxy S2.
If this was all common knowledge I apologize but I spent an hour searching for an answer and never found one.

They will provide you all info you need.

Well, apparently the Google Person I spoke with took pity on me and re-added my phone because it's there now.
She and I had a long discussion on the topic of rooting, and she is in complete agreement that the manufacturers are in the wrong. I can think of no other industry where a vendor maintains such a level of control over your device that YOU paid for.
Anyway, my phone is now back in the Google Play Store, so I guess this thread can just die.
Oh and LilChris I'm running Phone Bricker, lol. I PMed you yesterday lol.

Flash,are numerous threads on Flash and ICS. but... people on the Rezound say their Flash is working after the OTA ICS update. So...how did you get it to workk? I have tried a few different browsers, uninstalled Flash and reinstalled. I downloaded and installes the Flash from the Modaco Flash downloader..restarted phone..and still, every flash video is a blank black screen that has a tiny cube with a [ ? ] in it.. when I click the Flash settings, It loads up a blank page with that [ ? ] in it... After you get the latest Adobe flash player from the play store, go into your browser and hit menu> settings>advanced> enable flash and plug-ins.
Flash is set to off by default so change it to always on.

I know you are just trying to state the obvious, but thats already done.....in browsers that actually have that setting (not all have it). No ideaif Opera supports it as there is no setting for it. However, Boat has it. I dont see it anywhere in the stock browser settings like it was in GB. Its missing a few other settings as well.

Ok...after I had gotten the Flash Downloader, the setting appeared in the Advanced Menu in the stock browser. Its already set to Always On.
Works for me in Dolphin.
Adobe stopped supporting flash for android so it might not be fully compatible with ICS.

It worked with ICS on my rezound and nexus just fine, and some people on the nexus forums say it can be installed even on jellybean. I think its just a matter of downloading the apk and side loading it by installing it with a file manager

Then I need a different version. I side loaded the Modaco one via File Manager. In the app settings, it says it is version 11.1.102.59. But it obvious doesnt load in the browsers.

Umm...because Adobe removed it from the play store just recently.
Adobe carries the android flash player on it's website. There is no reason to go to a seperate site. Also, if you go to the playstore,look into your account, and look in your apps, it is usually there as well. If it is already installed on the phone. No flames here... But, there is already a thread about problems, and issues with ICS. If you posted there instead of starting so many threads, people may not be as inclined to flame you. Really, just trying to be helpful. Otherwise, your handle here might cause people to react like they would in real life. "Oh No, its THE COPS".LOL

Thats the thing, I didnt see the thread. I searched for about 2 hours both on google and through XDA specifically for Flash Player not working after ICS update. I added Rezound because some phones just cant get it to work in ICS, like the Droid Razr Maxx. So its a wonder I missed that. Yes I poked through a lot of threads on xda that came up in search, but that one didnt. Its not like I didnt search.

I know you are a respected member and a dev possibly and I just noticed you have been helping people out a lot. I'm sure you just got annoyed because you see it from other people often. Market is not downloading for me anymore and it looks like it's due to Google Talk (which I don't even use) not being able to log in. Googling for a solution has been fruitless. Any ideas besides wiping data and reinstalling Froyo?

Second, you need to have at least one Google account setup in "Accounts & Sync" in order to use the Market/Google Play.
Although at this point FroYo is pretty ancient. Considered upgrading to GB?

Sorry about the wrong section. Was going back and forth between the two looking for a solution and I guess I didn't notice which one I ended up in when I decided to post.
I do have a google acount in the Accounts and Sync and it works just fine for all things regarding my google account EXCEPT Talk. And it used to work for that too. Something has changed but if was something I did, I don't know what it was.
When I installed Android on my Tilt, the GB version was said to not be stable. I guess it is now? Might try that.

Don't know when you installed Android, but GB has been stable for quite a while. It's still in "testing" because I never really sorted out the whole CSV debacle. I guess I should button all that up and finalize it, but I just haven't had the time.
The build is pretty solid tho. Give it a shot.

The second thing is, well not completely about the root package but about the latest bluestacks 0.8.xxx, is it normal google play never works and basically just closes in a split second after opening? ever since i upgraded from 0.7.xxx google play simply doesnt work for me, and oddly, so does ADW Launcher (it works but after clicking it for a while it crashes the entire emulator) same goes for chrome and the gmail app... just thought id ask you this because you're the last person making root files for bluestacks and the only seeminly knowledgeable one since the bluestacks developers never reply to anything....

Well, haven't tried yet, since I always completely reinstall BlueStacks from anew. I suppose it should work for updates where they changed the emulator, but it's questionable for upgrades where they changed Android, because that would probably be in the rootfs.
So the only thing I can say is: If you're lucky. I would suggest backing up your old 'Root.fs' and 'Data.sparsefs'-directory, so when it doesn't work you can easily put those 2 back to revert.

Actually, at this end Google Play Store doesn't crash, nor does ADW (or I wouldn't have added it). I know Play Store didn't work for me in 0.7.x, but that got solved since 0.8. Did you freshly reinstall BlueStacks or have you always upgraded? Because upgrading could always be the culprit, seeing as it will probably not have been made to expect rooted systems...
Theoretically it shouldn't form any of a problem, though, but practice has proven theory wrong many times before... ;p
Anyway, I hope that sufficed for now...

I guess its worth it, no point in holding on to the current version of bluestacks if the newer version fixes stuff, and god knows the current version im on has its bugs, so buggy it could make an exterminator go bonkers if i had to be precise.

Ah, so this is where Bluestacks stores all the Android data apps make and the apps themselves and their settings? Whenever i previously tried to root Bluestacks id save the entire \Bluestacks folder in ProgramData as a backup incase things went south, keeping it to just those two files should make things easier...

Weird, we're at like opposite spectrums of it lol, for me 0.7 worked but for you it didnt while with 0.8 it did for you but not me. I wonder if the folks over at Bluestacks made it as a way to prevent users that were previously using the Play Store since companies have to license being able to use Google Play..
