So i'm told that the 2.1 v3 leak is the same as the ota 2.1. same radio version and os version.
So since i'm on the 3rd leak and everythings the same can't i take it back and replace it without the verizon people knowing that it's the leak. This way i can get a new phone that still has 1.5 on it and root it?
bump...
good idea? bad idea? why?

I think it depends on where you live. Honestly, I don't think they'll care if you're on the leak either way. I went to my VZW store and told them I was having lots of problems with my phone because my friend updated me to 2.1 (partially true, i was having problems. ) And they wiped it for me, said if it was still giving me trouble then I could replace it. Which it was so I did. It can't hurt to try. It's not like its illegal to update to the leak. Not even sure if it voids your warranty. probably does but meh. Good luck
Did either MR2 or the latest BAMF fix whatever was causing the Gingerbread related bricking that started last month?
Same questions
I'm wondering the same thing, I haven't heard a lot about gingerbread related bricking lately, I'd like to try one of the new gingerbread / sense 3.0 roms, but I don't want to risk bricking
+1, wanting to move to GB for Skype Mobile and Netflix support. I don't think there was ever any concrete evidence as to what specifically was causing the bricking, so I'd say until an official GB update hits, it's difficult to say that the threat is completely gone, however, I'd lean heavily toward thinking the "beta" leaked MR2 radios may have played part in the problem. Since there's an official MR2 radio out now, I'm getting braver and feeling more safe about trying out GB on my Bolt.
My main concern is I bought my Bolt used, so I can't run to VZW and say I dropped it in the pool if/when I brick it
Yeah, there's no real answer as to why the bricks were happening, but they seem to have been related in some way to that first leaked GB radio. The leaked MR2, MR2.5 and the OTA MR2 are all not bricking phones any more than the stock radio, so you shouldn't need to worry too much about that.
If your phone is going to brick, it will brick no matter what you do. Bricks have happened to stock unrooted users too. IMO its not the radio but a flaw in the hardware - processor, or user FUBAR. Careful too of overclocking. It works fine for some bolts, others just don't like it. It's almost like these things are snowflakes, no two are the same.
courtesy of my rooted bolt
Aye. I'm probably going to flash Das BAMF 2.1 tomorrow. I'd do it tonight, but I need to charge the Bolt, it's pretty low, and it'll take longer to charge my extended battery to full than I'll be awake yet tonight
the bricking was hardware and nothing but hardware so please stop trying to start the rumor it was the bamf rom,why do I say that because it was you first statement, not gingetbread but bamf get a grip

This is 100% correct. The dev's who were investigating the bricks have determined that it was likely a hardware malfunction, because NOT ONLY were there bricks from the people with the GB radio, but also with older radios, and some who weren't even rooted.
The GB had nothing to do with it.
eMMC failure of sorts, not BAMF caused bricking. I remember when everyone was like "well the only people bricking are on BAMF," then someone on gingeritis bricked and everyone **** their pants
The GB had nothing to do with it.

Not necessarily.. one of the theories was that the alpha GB radio was causing more writes to the eMMC than it was supposed to, which was causing early eMMC failure.. yes stock TB's bricked as well, but that could have been something else writing to eMMC. Not like we'll ever know anyways, pure speculation.
Ok since I can't ask in the "appropriate" thread do to asinine restrictions.
Talk about fragmentation!
Can someone tell me what the difference between the 2.07.605.0 and 2.10.605.1 leaks for the Thunderbolt are.
I installed the 2.07.605.0 RUU leak and am wondering what I might gain buy installing the 2.10.605.1 leak?
Like maybe getting rid of the oh so annoying do you want to use wifi prompt...
Edit: Corrected the 2.10.605.1 typo.
I think there is a different radio that goes along with it. I just loaded it and it seems to be running great just like the last one.

Would you mind checking to see if voice mail notifications works. For some reason this drives me nuts.

FYI the newest leak is 2.10.605.1 not 2.07.605.1. Unfortunately I don't know the differences I just don't want to see people confused.
I recently acquired a Droid Eris on Verizon since my Blackberry had been stolen and I didn't want to renew my contract or pay an ETF. I have flashed KaosFroyo v39 and have been experiencing poor signal quality with the device since then. Wherever I go, I never seem to get above 1 bar, even when my Blackberry got full bars at the same location. Is this a known problem and are there any fixes? Would downgrading the radio potentially solve the problem, and if so, where could I get the previous radio version? Thanks for your help!
First: What radio are you running?
Second: KF39? Why not try something newer?
I'm running 2.42.01.04.27
As for KF39, when I googled how to root my Eris, it's the first thing that came up and many people recommended it. What would you recommend for a newer version? I assume newer versions will provide better performance?

KF is probably one of the best Froyo roms out there, but isn't being developed any more. I'd recommend GSB or one of the other Gingerbread roms.
Oh, where can I find that radio and does it work with KF? If I were to upgrade to a Gingerbread ROM, is there any way to back up all of my apps and what not? Sorry for the stupid questions, I'm new to all of this Android stuff

Sprint Hero's have mostly the same hardware as the Eris and the radios are interchangeable.
Just flash the radio from the recovery menu.
Thanks! I'll try this out and see what happens.
Upgraded radio and it stays the same, but data speeds improved. Whatever lol!
Oh, I also flashed GSB and it's working well so thanks!
I just recently got the RAZR MAXX (opinion still forming to rate the maxx) and am giving my son my old Fascinate so he can play games and listen to music. The Fascinate was rooted but going to just go back to stock to wipe it clean and let him start from scratch. My question is, earlier driodstyle recommended staying with eh03 because he felt it was the fastest at the time. But 4ish months ago verizon pushed another software update and was wondering if that was working better than eh03 or if I should just stick with eh03..... Any responses would be helpful... Thanks...
I'm rather new to the fascinate only had mine for about a month, however the first thing i did when i got it was allow it to ota to the newest release which was eh03. I haven't heard of anything newer than eh03.

That OTA was just the official OTA to EH03, rather than the leak that came out a few weeks prior. There was a leak for FA16, but nothing official ever came from it, and no one did anything with it as far as custom Roms or anything, so it must not have been worth it.
to the op, your thinking about ed05 froyo...eh03 is the latest ota update from verizon.
