I found a site that says they figured out how to get a PS3 controller working on Android devices. I found out that it is not compatible with my device with my current ROM. According to the page i was reading it says that cyanogenmod is compatible because it uses the bluetooth protocol that the program needs. As far a I know cyanogenmod is not available on the EVO 3D. I was wondering if there is a way to put the bluetooth protocol that cyanogenmod uses into one of the custom roms we have available. I do not know anything about creating ROM's but i am attempting to learn what i can.
The site i found is at Dancing Pixel Studios. can not post a link yet sorry
Well your going to need to change your roms source and since we don't have sense source its impossible. Unless you know what files cm uses for this Bluetooth protocol it should be as simple as drag and drop

On cyanogenmod barebones wiki page i only find two apk's that deal with bluetooth. they are Bluetooth.apk and MediaUploader.apk. would the bluetooth protocols be in the bluetooth.apk?
push !!!!!!!!!!

You need aosp with those hid profiles in order for that to work. Wait for an official build of cm7. That will be exciting, all 17 buttons are remapable
Remember, Remember, the 5th of November. Thanks for support!
hi guys,
i just wanted to ask have anyone tried receiving calls from another phone in your gp5? i was just wondering i have a hp touchpad with webos and when its paired with my old phone it can receive the calls.
I was thinkin maybe if i can do that with my gp5 i can tuck away my old phone and receive calls with my gp5 when paired using bluetooth.
please let me know if anybody have any idea how get this done i know it requires certain service to enable this feature with bluetooth
The 4.0 and 5.0 do NOT support the bluetooth profile (HFP) Needed to be able to answer the calls of a paired bluetooth phone, the 3.6 does and I think the 4.2 might I just can't remember right now.
You could check out the custom ROM's for the 5.0 one of them may have added that functionality, but stock they will not.
4.2 does works like a charm. Just like my tp

Well, it is unreal to answer a call? if you have not a dial, isn't it? So, galaxy player 4 and 5 HAVE NOT a dial (a phone app), maybe, in some custom ROMs... And they also have not (HFP) and you could not use them as hands-free...

No, they have a dailer, they lack support of the needed bluetooth profiles, It was one of those weird things samsung did.

Unlikely to see it in any of the CM9 based ICS releases as bluetooth doesn't even work in most of them.
Right. Calling custom fw users based on gingerbread kindly check if this feature exist on your gp5..thanks

i found a thread in htc flyer to enable hands free profile
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1185688
Using root explorer or your favorite text editor edit the build.prop file under /system/build.prop and edit the following lines:
Code:
ro.ril.reject.cs.ss.enabled=0
ro.ril.reject.mo.ussd.enabled=0
ro.phone.function=1
To enable Bt Headset profile change the following:
Code:
ro.bt.profiles = 4270403
service.brcm.bt.ag_supported = 1

thinking it might work with sgp 5.0 i tried opening my build.prop and cant find any lines like above
sadly it seems like nobody is after this feature but me
edit: added build.prop file and renamed to .txt
I'm very much interested in this feature and i'm sure there are people out there who care about it as well. I really would love to be able to use GP5 with my 10' tablet to answer and make calls though it.

I would love this feature! So did adding those lines to build.prop do anything?

Okay, I tried adding the line in my build.prop, but it still fails to connect. Not surprised, but disappointed all the same.

Thanks for trying. I got an idea based on the previous posts the 3.6 player has this feature I was wondering if the 3.6 has the identical chipset as ours provided that the its coming from the same rom version we can dump some of their core files that is controlling the bt chipset and port it to our device

i'm planning to post a request in the development forum, asking the developers to incorporate this feature into one of the rooms
I already asked the 4.0 devs. What we need is a 3.6 dump, so we can get what files we need.
Sent using Tapatalk
a dump? arent official roms available for download? why can't the necessary code be taken from a rom?
both 4.2 and 3.6 have this feature enabled, so it can be imported from any of these devices. I think it should be trivial - because the devices use the same components, adopting features from one into another should be almost as easy as cutting and pasting the code or a library or whatever they have in android.
Hi guys, since my 3.6 isn't rooted I'm not sure I can dump every file, but I can extract the ones which I have read access. You can also download all the source here

Hi guys,
This is Viber's rep.
@jettlee29 - It sounds like the typical Custom ROM issue - some custom ROMs alter the microphone definitions of your phone, causing Viber not to recognize the phone's microphone properly. That is the reason that Viber cannot transmit your sound to the other side. We discussed this issue in detail with our users in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25865775#post25865775
Please note that in that thread, a workaround was suggested *by a user* (and not officially by us) that seemed to have solved the problem for Galaxy S+S2 users.
Let us know if you have any issues.

the fixes in that other thread dont do anything unfortunately.
its with all cm 10.1 roms, as CM is like a super popular custom rom i figured it would work but i guess not, are u guys looking into the issue on CM or not gonna mess with it? ill start lookin for another voip app i guess if not lookin into it

Please note that at this stage we don't officially support custom ROMs with Viber. Running Viber on a custom ROM results in various side effects (sometimes total lack of functionality), but we can't afford to support all custom ROMs out there
We are continuously working to adapt Viber to more and more ROMS, but meanwhile - you might want to contact the ROM developer for further support - they may be able to resolve this issue. In addition, it would be a good idea to test Viber on Stock ROM on that same phone, in order to see if that indeed is the source of the problem.
i am currently using a custom rom (padawan 8) and it works fine, worked fine on stock ATT rom too, just wanted it workin on CM10.1, i am going to try it on my nexus 7 to see if it works there on cm10.1 to see if its just note it wont work on
i figured since CM was one of the biggest if not biggest custom roms, viber would support it
appreciate your help anyways though!

As we said, from time to time we try to adapt to some ROMs, but unfortunately it is not a 'strict policy' and as a whole, we don't officially support ROMs
We will wait for news from your testings with the different ROMs, hopefully good news
yeah, same for me, tried all the fixes and different kernels but nothing seems to work.
Can't run 4.1.2 ROMS as they have so many issues but on 4.2.2 Viber just doesn't work.
So it's either ICS or no Viber 4.2.2 for me.
Viber on 4.2.2 custom roms!
hi i got it working fine! i installed the viber 2.3.2 i think. and its all working fine. the newer vibers call function is not working in 4.2.2... thanks!

viber review
Viber is an application for smart phones which gives an instant messaging platform to the users and is developed by Viber Media. Besides text messaging and images, it also allows users to exchange audio and video messages. It works on both Wi- Fi and 3G networks. It was initially launched only for IPhone in order to give competition to Skype. But now it is also available for Blackberry, Android, Symbian, Windows Phone and many other devices. Its functionality varies for different platforms with Android and iOS being the first to receive all the new features on other viber review
@adeelhayat90 -
Viber currently does not integrate with Android's native contact list unfortunately. In future versions we hope to bring back this feature, and once we have news we'll let you know.
We apologize for the temporary inconvenience.
Hi all,
I have quite a bit of developing experience but unfortunately have no idea how building roms works. Since now HALO from the PA rom is open source I was wondering if it has been ported as an APK. If it hasn't I was wondering if any kind folks out here know what needs to be done to port it and if anyone was willing to help. I understand pop up mini apps are not possible, and thats not what I am looking for. I just wanted the chat head style notifications. Also I know there is an app that does this, but I like the HALO implementation better, plus who doesn't like choices.
Thanks.
Just a friendly bump. If anyone perhaps knows how I can email someone from PA or knows any other dev who could help me out I would be much obliged.

I developed this ROM for TF101 2 months ago. So I've some experience with it.
So anyway, Its not ported as an APK file. Don't think all things in Android are an APK file. Its coded by Paranoid Android developers in the Android System. Then the HALO is being added into the Settings app, by modifying and adding some java and xml files in it. Then it need some time to test whether its working or not. If you want to know how the ROM build works, you can just Google for it.
If you want to see their work go to Paranoid Android github. That's the source for the ROM.

Yup, I know it was baked into android and isn't an app, but I was wondering if anyone knew how I could make it a standalone app. But thanks for the heads up, now I know where to look for all the code that HALO uses. I think it may be a fairly comprehensive code rewrite but Its worth a shot.
You might want to try these.

Yup I have seen those, the halo app is an addon that lets you pin apps to halo when you run a PA rom. The second has a very different execution style.

Thats not an app for HALO. That jus selects apps to be pinned n trigered.
And the 2nd 1 looks like halo but is not HALO at all
I know this is rather late, but I have been looking at the code lately and I was wondering if anyone has made any progress or has some deeper insight. I haven't been able to try because my computer is on its last legs and I wont be able to work on anything till it is replaced later.

Too soon to tell. If it is coming, it will be built-in. I doubt Microsoft will ever make the mistake of making the API freely available to developers.

I had a quick look and it seems that call recording apps worked on WP7 only, so I guess there is no hope to get this feature with 3rd party apps on WP8 and 10....
