Battery life using ONLY music player - Hero, G2 Touch Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I am considering buying a Hero, but wonder if anybody can let me know how long the battery will last if I am using it only as a mp3 player.
I am think of when I am on a plane and wifi, bluetooth and the phone are all off, and just the media player is playing mp3s.
Any idea of average battery life?
Cheers.

With my Hero the battery-drain is very minimal, when using mp3 player.

Same with me - the MP3 player uses very little battery. Not sure how long it would last, because I have never tested it, but my guess is much longer than a transatlantic flight.

i'll tell you exactly how little battery the music player uses with an example.
I had been using my phone all day at school browsing and texting and games etc. By the time it was time for me to go home the battery level was at 3%, I needed my music to get home its long ride on the subway and the bus. I went into airplane mode and the battery lasted me all the way home approximately 45-50 minutes that was on 3% battery life.
So you can guess how long it would last with a full charge.

about 14~15 hours at least,,

Movie on dell streak

Hi I goin abroad on sunday and my question is... cos my flight will be 4H long and I would like to watch movies on my streak anyone know how long battery will work? on flightmode ofcourse
cheers
Your phone lasts probably 2 to three times longer on flight mode, I went to Turkey about a month ago, and it the flight was about 4 hours, I watched a film, 3 episodes of cougar and played games and listen to music the rest of the time. Still had about 50% battery left :-D
Your battery life will depend a lot on how bright you have the screen.
There are battery powered and rechargeable devices that you can use to get extra life (or an extra battery).

[Q] watching online flash videos/playing hd games eats away battery while chargi

hi all!
i recently noticed that while im watching some flash videos online (not the youtube one or the videos that the player can play) for about an hour or so that it drains my battery eventhough my phone is connected to the charger. (i didnt noticed how much but it really drained it)
i noticed this too when i got addicted at dungeon hunter. 1 hour of playing while charging and the battery got drained by 12%.
any one also experienced this?
is my battery broken?
i got my x10 last 2 months and bought it brand new and using stock rom and kernel with fps uncapped
Yeah mate, that's normal. I stream a lot of HD quality stuff, and am addicted to pocket legends.
Takes 5 hours non-stop videos and phone reaches 0%. Plugged in. Pocket legends with brightness on full and wifi connected lasts three. Again plugged in.
You can reduce brightness and volume to save some power, but that's it. I do have o/c to 1113 MHz so on stock it may last a little longer, but the o/c makes it smooth so that's better for me.
Also read omega reds post about battery optimization/calibration. I used it and got about a 20% boost in battery life.
Hope this helps.

thanks for confirming this.
i was about to buy a new battery thinking my battery now is broken

Real Life Flyer battery usage results

Hi Guys
For those people thinking of getting the Flyer here's an example of some real life battery usage results.
I've got a BestBuy WIfI only Flyer and I'm running Paul O'Brien's HoneyComb 3.41.405.1 rom.
Without doing anything special (E.g. turning services off etc) I managed to get over 8 hours constant usage with the vast bulk of that time spent streaming videos from you tube.
I've been running the Flyer ON-STOP since full charge and I've got 8% battery left. For 6 1/2 of those hours I've been watching YouTube videos (Just left it playing through my playlists) so it's been using WiFi for at least that long out of the 8 hours.
Regards
8hrs sounds about right. I use mine for work & it last from 8am to about 4pm, using WiFi or 3G, streaming radio, or playing music. Surfing the net, emails, working on documents etc. The display is the biggest user of battery life. So if you give it a break & leave it in sleep mode for a few hours, it will last longer.

My battery test is underway-Complete! 9+ hours video!

I decided to run my own battery test this morning. I created a 720p video copy from my Cars blu-ray. Copied to my Evo LTE, and started playing it on MX video player. It will play the movie over and over until I stop it. I'm trying to simulate watching video on a long flight, so I put it into airplane mode. Brightness is set to auto.
So far, the video has been playing 3 hours and 25 minutes. My battery is showing 66% remaining. So far so good. If the battery percentage is accurate, I should get 9+ hours out of this, possibly 10. I'll keep it running and see how long it goes.

Awesome! Can't wait for your results.

It's been playing for 6 hours now and the battery has 40% left. The phones seems to use about 10% per hour. Let's see if it will get up to 10 hours.
So far, I'm very impressed. My old Evo didn't last long at all playing videos during my plane flights.
Oh, and I forgot to mention, the 720p video looks amazing!!!!

Ok, so I stopped the video when my phone hit 10% battery life. The phone continued to use approximately 10% of the battery life per hour. So the final play time was 9 hours and 8 minutes. It would be very close to 10 hours if I kept going. Excellent battery life if you ask me!
(the screen shot was taken after plugging the phone in to start charging her back up. that's why you see 11% and the charging icon)

Not to shabby. It can only get better with some custom ROMs & Kernels, to maximize battery life.

Really? He gets ten hours out of a mobile phone playing 720p video and all you got is "Not too shabby"? When my Galaxy Tab was new I did a test with a video at native resolution in airplane mode and got like 5 hours of video. Considering the size of both batteries, I'd say ten hours is fricken bloody phenomenal.
As a different comparison of usage, I played about 3.5 hours of video over wi-fi on my LTE on Friday. The first half hour was through the flash player, and the latter 3 hours via the twitch.tv app. I did also have it off the charger for like 9 hours entirely and made a short phone call too. Not only is the battery on the LTE amazing, the frugalness of the hardware in using it is also.

lol. +1. This is so true and funny
Here are the video details if anyone is curious. I'm not sure if things like bit rate affect battery life.
just for comparison.
i did a similar test with my OG Evo, 4 hours it would play movies then it shut off at 0%
OP, your results are impressive. Can you post more information? I'd like to know about the audio stream. And also at what speaker volume were you playing the movie?

[Q] HTC Desire X-battery

hello, my english is not so good but I hope that you will understand me, because I used google translation
can anyone tell me whether this smartphone too much battery consumption if I turned 100%, then:
surfed on the net ten minutes
played medium demanding game twenty minutes
Runtastic worked a 2 hour (GPS and mobile internet)
1 hour listening to music
and watching a series of half-hour*
at the end battery status was 60%
Otherwise, I noticed that for about ten minutes surfing the internet battery falls to around 5%, so if it's ok or not
Thanks in advance for your reply
I think that's ok. Just surfing the net does consume a lot of battery, gaming and watching videos as well.
Thanks, but since I'm new with android I thought that the battery can last longer
To preserve battery-
Turn brightness to lowest.
Turn off unnecessary app sync.
Increase duration between sync of weather and mail and other apps.
Turn off network data connection n GPS when not in use.
Uninstall useless apps which you installed but never use them.
sent from my HTC DX
90-100% of batter never gives right amount of battery, under 90% its much more precise
this battery consumption seems fine, apps like runtastic or google track eats a lot, games acctualy too (fpse is the worst, its like vaccum cleaner), movie player... dunno, i dont use them, but they wont be battery-friendly
Recently I tested a lot of my HTC Desire X, so I can say that I am generally satisfied with all, except that my surfing over 3G networks too quickly consumes battery (recent example: 20 minutes on Tapatalk battery drains about 10%).In the first days of use I even thought that the smart phone serviced(or maybe I should), but it seems to me that I have to get used to it, and use the mobile internet to a minimum.
