hey xda
i just have a simple question.
how do i flash a radio rom?
just rename it to update.zip, put it on my sd card, and flash with recovery menu?
You don't actually need to rename files to update.zip in order to flash them but you can keep doing it if you want.
But yes flash it like you would any rom. Just make sure you have the correct type e.g. GSM or CDMA.
And please try searching this point has been asked and answered so many times before.
hmm i did a search action, but i couldn't find anything
maybe it's just me.
anyway, thx!

Hello all,
Let me preface this by saying I'm on a mac and I apologize if that offends anyone. Anyways, I've rooted my phone flashed roms and kernels and all that good stuff but I'm still pretty new at all of this. I want to flash the new radio but I'm not sure exactly how to go about doing that. Do I have to go to terminal or can I just put it on the SD card through USB mount? Thanks in advance.

Drop it into the root of /sdcard and then boot into hboot by shutting down the phone and then while holding the volume down button power the phone back on. It will then boot into hboot, find the radio file and ask you to confirm you want to flash it. It's a pretty quick process.

Also note that for the hboot to find the radio it has to be named PG05IMG.zip. If its named anything else it wont find it.
Do I rename the whole folder or just one of the files in it?

The whole zip file that you download needs to be renamed.
^ yeah
you don't extract anything from the PG05IMG archive
Ok I got it now. I unzipped the file before i put it on my sdcard. Everything worked out well. Now I just have to get the best way to fix my GPS...any suggestions?

Hey guys, i don't usually make posts for every question i have, unless i absolutely don't find an answer searching or googling. I find myself in the position where i want to customize my Hyperdroid ROM and i can't manage to install DOC's Surgeon.
I think maybe the file i find in AndroidMeda Rom Tool is just an update, and not a full release, but being a noob is difficult, and i really didn't managed to pass this!
So, long story short, how can i flash a surgeon that is on androidmeda rom tool? I tried the Surgeon_Lucid_v5.0.zip and i can't get through, it fails to install under recovery mode.
I would very much appreciate a solution to my dumb question, hope i don't irritate somebody.

You should download again, and apply the surgeon in the rom tool!

Unfortunately i can't post there, i don't got the minimum 10 posts...ridiculous i know :-<
Quote from Android system recovery <3e>:
"E: missing bitmap password_retry_45 (Code -1)
E: missing bitmap password_notmatched_45 (Code -1)
E: missing bitmap password_max16_45 (Code -1)"
When installing multi-csc it says the following (also in android system recovery):
"-- Applying Multi-CSC...
Installing Multi-CSC
Can't access to '/system/csc/KOR/system/'.
Successfully applied multi-CSC."
Have you changed the kernel from the one that comes with Hyperdroid? As the OTA tool will only work automatically with the kernel the rom comes with.
If so you will need to download the file via the OTA tool, find where it saves, should be somewhere in the SD card (Hint /sdcard/Hyperdroid_Androidmedia)
Reboot into CWM recovery
Flash the zip manually.

even if you changed kernels you can still flash stuff that you download from the OTA tool. So say you want to download Docs surgeon. Download it through the OTA app and then rather than apply now press apply later. Then try and get into recovery..there install zip and go through the folder were it says hyperdroid androidmeda...there you have all the files you have downloaded and just flash like you would normally do something...But only use this if you want to change kernels..My advice is the same as the guy above posted..Use the kernel provided by the team and you should not have any problems flashing stuff through the OTA app...
It worked fine, thank you again. Now i figured, indeed the change of my kernel led to that conflict.
Cheers guys!

Huh, I didn't think about you changed the kernel. Pongster's HDK kernel is very good, don't change that in my opinion.
So, Im glad that your problem solved.

Hey Guys,
Sorry for this, I searched around and nothing seems to work for me at the moment. I'm trying to flash a new Kernel, (Funkybean 2.4) but I can't seem to get it right. I saw a few post on here and tried to follow the directions but hBoot or recovery can't seem to get it. It has something to do with the script missing so it says. Can anyone recommend a way to do this on phone. I'm on a mac so I don't have access to the toolkit.

Flash it, let it do the rest, no wipes. Make sure you are on the latest TWRP or Amon RA. If TWRP, you will need to manually reboot to bootloader.
PS: You shouldve posted this in the Q & A subforum or my thread.
Thanks, sorry about that

So just add the file as is on the card and flash in recovery, gonna try that now. Thanks. I'm at work and was doing this (for some silly reason) just minutes prior to a workshop. Now I have the time to really see whats going on. I will post in the correct section next time.
HI I have been searching this forum but I have come up dry. Can someone paste me a link to a guide for flashing radios and also is there a list of available radios and where to get them?
I would like to try our the avail radios to see which will give me by best connectivity.
Thank you for your time!

You made your mistake by not looking at all.
If you want a guide to run you through these things look at droidstyles sticky in the Development section. It explains everything you need to know.
Short of it is you need to check the MD5sum of the radio once you have downloaded it to your phone, you can use apps like AFV from the Play Store to check the MD5. Then boot to recovery (from a powered off state Vol Up, Home, Power), hit install, find the Radio wherever you put/downloaded it and swipe to install, and reboot. Thats it.

Actually shangrila500, I did do some searching as I stated in my OP. I believe the reason I missed was I was searching for the term "radio" not "modem" . My last phone's (Thunderbolt) forums used the term radio instead.
First we had to:
- rename the .zip file: "PG05IMG.zip"
- then we had to put the .zip file in the root directory of our sd card
- reboot
- accept the update
- lastly you had to erase the "PG05IMG.zip" file from the root of the card otherwise you could go into bootloops.
Yeah, it was a bit of hoop jumping to flash radios, thats why I asked if there is a procedure for my new Note2,
Thanks for your walk through, it helps me out greatly (and others) !!! :good::good::good:
