Is there Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM for HTC LEO HD2? - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Knowing, the speed of wm6.5 compared to 6.1, did anyone try out to install WM 6.1 on HD2?
I don't like large interfaces of 6.5 (on large 4.3 screen especially ) and the speed is bad.

speed of 6.5 on HD2 is bad? are you sure you have the same HD2 as we do? if you are then you better send it back for repairs

God I hope not, why not try and put WM5 on there while your at it.

Wonder, is it possible to cook the WM6.1 Rom for it, based on HD 1, for example?

Sounds like you bought a ferrari and now want to put in a fiat panda motor

actually japanese are more reliable (says a true honda crx vtec driver)

hmm.. why not? some ppl said WM6.1 has a better looking start menu..
and when WM 6.5 was out many many ppl hated the look of the start menu

I dooo hate the 6.5 Start menu

After updating HTC HD 1 with WM6.5, I found out how slow it is, compared to WM61 (several times at least). So, I am thinking that HD2 with WM61 should be incredible fast! Also there are a lot of old software, that works fine on 61 but has problems on 65. Also, the menu, autoselection, ctr+c and a lot others doesnt work everywhere in WM65

Interesting....

The reason why the Blackstone was slower with WM6.5 was the missing drivers. So it would be when you try to port WM 6.1 for the Leo.
Did you think about the problem of the missing stylus? WM 6.1 is nearly impossible to use without

4.3 screen quite huge even compared to 3.8 HD1 has, so it won't be the missing stylus problem

I so hate the WM 6.5 start menu. Can never find the required icon. Give me back the classic start menu anytime.

How about organising the applications in fitting orders?
I can't believe that anyone would prefer the dumb 6.1 menu over the fantastic 6.5 start menu.

WM6.5 and TF3D?

Has anyone tried 6.5 with the fuze tf3d? There are some things, I just don't know if I like with the TP2 version.
I will try it, but I have only downloaded roms and not sure how to setup tf3d as an addon after the fact. I think this would be a good combo for me if it works.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
You might try this ROM as it has both:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=474406
Just need to turn on TF3D in the today settings.
It does work, there are a few ROMs that have it cooked in. However, I don't think the Rhodium Start Menu works on 6.5, but I don't really mind, you just won't get the FULL Manila experience.
This ROM has both and is slick as HE&% http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=502106
Why have one, when you can have both!

Which Rom to Use

Hi Everyone,
I am hoping to replace the ROM in my Sprint Mogul phone since I cannot replace the phone for over a year. I am looking for an Android/iPhone type of interface. The less I have to use my stylus the better. And I am hoping for a snappier interface. I would also like to be able to use the camera and wifi occasionally. I also use Sprint's Navigation package often and plan to buy an off road mapping program. Every day I use calendar and contacts. Finally I use the bluetooth every day with MS voice command.
My Mogul is on ROM V 3.35.651.2, Radio V 3.35.04.
I've read through the wiki and believe I understand the process. The one area I am struggling with is which ROM will best suit my needs. From the wiki I find these choices:
dcd
scrosler
nueROM
No2chem 5067
Key kitchen
Which ROM would you recommend to best suit my needs?
No replies? So I guess DCD it is.

no replies because its a silly question. read the different ROM threads and see what users are saying about them. put the pieces together based on things you read and BOOM, flash a ROM. try it out. if you dont like it, try another. very easy.
Thanks for the reply.
I was looking for a good foundation build for a stylus free experience. And hoping to save some time by not having to flash my way through a zillion ROMs.
Well I mean, these phones are not meant to be touch screen only like a iPhone. You can install a ROM with a lot of finger friendly app's and then top it off with an install of FtouchFlo which enables 4 way touch scrolling in any app that needs panned or scrolled.
That was the route I am headed in since I have another year with this phone. I am working on a list of applications now. My partial list:
iris browser
calendar+
pocketCM
manilla 2D
HTC home
HTS home customizer
s2u2
PCM keyboard
SPB mobile shell
youtubeplayer
I likely have some duplicates in this list.

you'lll want to stick with the 6.1 roms then. also, if you do 6.5 its a little intense on the mogul due to memory usage, i have roughly 8 megs free on a good day with active sync running.
i think with the ryan RUU 6.1 i had around 30-35 free

oh, and btonetbone, are you using himem or lowmem? i still use my camera, so its under low, with high mem, i think its around 25 free

I'm usually in high memory mode. But that doesn't usually cause a 17 meg variance; it's more like 6 or 7.

could be why, i'm using low memory mode for the camera
I think 6.5 is worth the loss of RAM.
My custom 6.5 has about 27.5 on boot, around 24 after a day of use. That's with high mem mode. With low mem, 21M on boot. That's about as good as you will get with 6.5. If you need more RAM than that, go with 6.1. You simply won't get more than 28M on boot with 6.5.
I loaded DCD's ROM and then decided I wanted to try Ryan's WM 6.5 UI 7 heavy ROM. After loading I noticed there was only 10MB free and decided that wouldn't work for me so I went back to the DCD ROM. Now when I boot I still see Ryan's splash screen. I did the hard reset. I am guessing there is a spot where the ROM doesn't overwrite can someone nudge me in the right direction on how to replace files there?
Also, I am going to give Ryan's WM 6.5 UI 7 light ROM a try.

To have more free RAM using WM 6.5 on a TITAN its recommended that you run in High Memory mode, meaning Camera Disabled. Even with my light version you are still going to need to disable camera. It all depends on what you use the phone for. If you go into Settings/System Settings/NueKernel and run in High Memory you will see a huge difference in memory. Just remember to turn camera back on before flashing to another ROM that does not include Nuekernel.
Thanks for the reply Ryan. I'll give that a try.
What about the splash screen?
Also what is the phone doing while the splash screen is showing, seems like a long wait at this spot.

Any Chance of a WM 6.1 21000 ROM ?

Is anyone actually working on a WM 6.1 ROM with a post-21000 Build Number for ATOM Life ?
I'd really like to be able to use the Rhodium Menu Enhancements (FingerMenu is just not the same) but I find myself unable to cook a ROM on my own.
I tried to register an account on PDAVIET where the ROM comes from i'm using right now, but to no avail as I can't read Vietnamese and Google Translator somehow can't translate it...
someone close this please, no one is interested in this Thread anyway... hope y'all are happy with your WM 6.5 Betas...

Yes of course almost all of us are now on 6.5 and really happy. Latest 6.5 roms 21728 Lite and 21812 Lite are running on our device better than 6.1. More stable and faster and errorfree. Why dont you try 21812 Lite just released and experience for yourself. I am sure you wont be coming back to 6.1. By the way my device is Atom Life. But there are variations of roms for other devices too...
Dont worry for word "BETA", currently all are tested ok and working well.... Beta in these forum, does not mean they are in developement. They are only ported from latest releases and customized with software bundle. Rest OS is basic and work well for Atom Life or comet you have. See my signature down there, all listed roms are stable and fast and tested ok. Rest I have not mentioned.
No need to reply.... bye
WM 6.5 is a Battery-drainer... also, I would need a ROM where Manila 2D runs, as I tried Titanium... and hated it.

wm6.5 WAS a battery drainer, but not now. i am using 21812 lite with longer battery time, say 3 days standby and 2 days with phone use. better than 6.0 or 6.1. seems you do not read the post carefully. LITE version does not have titanium and we are using M2D without any problem with moe memory free and longer battery time. Now dont comment without trying it. read my signature too..
Alright, I tried it, and went back to WM6.1 as WM6.5 was constantly taking up 80 Percent of the Phone's Resources (RAM) with Manila2D active.
It only takes around 56 Percent of it when using WM6.1.
I'm not going to make the switch to WM6.5 as it seems.
And my next Phone is going to be an Android Phone... i'm sick of resistive Touchscreens, i want capacitive ones.
jadephyre would you mind sharing what rom you are currently using. I am trying to find a rom that doesnt wolf down my battery.
indiacam: I really dont know how you are geting very good battery life.
Im using the same rom as you yet as jadephyre said ram usage is very hard.
Interface is very nice though

Specifically two reasons
1) My battery is XP-09 Lithium Polymer and not Li-ION and distributed with most PDAs. Its really a good battery O2 have distributed in India. Working like new since past 17 months.
2) And yes there are some additional memory setup required to be done in Registry Settings with the help of ACT. Click here for more information http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4081622#post4081622
@indiacam
I got the same powerpack, but what is of more interest for me is how to preserve RAM...
Thanks fellas,
I got the same battery pack also!
My battery performance is really horbile even with your settings Indiacam.
As for Ram, im using about 63% on 6.5 lite by uninstalling some things like the htc album. I shall try to flash again using both

Searching for naked/light, but stable WM6,5 ROM

Hello

I'm looking for ROM, something like the ahmedfikry's Kaiser WM6.5 23659 light ROM
Naked, but stable ROM, for HD2.
I use almost komplet Resco and most od SBP software.
Until they don't have software for WP7, i stay on WM6.5
Any suggestions ?

Not trying to say 6.5 is the fastest thing on Earth here, but...
I have been flashing dozens of ROMS, on this forums for years (from the first T-mobile MDA) and by now WM 6.5 got really neat and fast - especially on HD2. Compressed Sense without unneeded tabs and extra pages in CHS 1.8.5 or 2.0 is really fast from boot (well WP7 might be faster here as I hear) to everyday use. Add here 3d accelerations and multiple well known tweaks like cache size or even overclocking etc... It is actually faster than I expected. Unloading Sense and using Titanium is very fast indeed if you need/use basic things only. True multitasking use for things like Putty for openning a SSH tunnel and then remote desktop connection and Opera internet connection using that SSH, while listening music in Sense player is quite smooth. HD2 performs fast and its multitasking works great - I got much more stuttering in different Android ROMS (SD btw) while simply listening to the music and surfing.
Now I believe Titanium only ROMS (Senseless) must be even faster and if you put SPB or other GUI on top of it - it should perform OK.
WP7 is fast on HD2 but I still find too many rough edges to use it every day. I will certainly test it and I hope it exceeds my expectations both in speed and usability. (Android btw is mostly OK, but I simply cannot use it as a no.1 OS)
Cheers.

New Official ROM for HD2

HTC have just posted a new ROM v 3.14.421.2 on their website.
The version number is way higher than the 1.66.42.1 mine is currently running.
Anyone tried it out yet?
Just kidding buddy, but do you really think that anybody still uses winmob 6.5 in the great time of windows phone 7 or Android in any version you desire?

As your signature says: "Desire HD2-7". That combines everything, doesn´t it?
WinMo 6.5 *does* indeed still offer some advantages and software you cannot find on other platforms... but I think the interest for an HTC stock ROM is... close to zero.

I still use Winmo while using Garmin XT. So, any suggestion for replacement of Garmin XT in WP7 or android?
I am using 3.14.405.2 and its works a lot better than 1.66. I had to upgrade as 1.66 would jam when I received multiple SMS at the same time. I tried 1.72.841.0 but did not like the propriety settings and locks that Telstra (AUS) use.
I also tried Duttys V(14) but it was buggy with Wifi and Youtube, so have gone to 3.14.405.2 and it all works fine.
Now, I am waiting for Windows Embedded Handheld 6.5 as I have custom apps that Windows Phone 7 or Android cannot run.
cheers
