Hi Guys,
Firstly i am loving my new X10, havent yet found anything that i am dissapointed with tbh!
Wifi issue solved.
The only other question, is how long the information gathered from facebook is stored. I have 4 days worth now on the tiles and im happy enough with 1 - 2 days worth really. Can i change this?
Many thanks.
Dave.

Hi all,
I have been lurking around the forums for a while and I have gone from being totally oblivious to at least feeling as though I am somewhat android-literate now, although I still have a lot to learn. I finally took the plunge and rooted my phone last week without a hitch by using the guide here. Now I'm ready to tinker.
I'm currently running on the stock Vibrant updates...the last thing I did was the OTA GPS fix that came out maybe a month or two ago (which has worked great for me btw, no more issues with GPS). I'm trying to pick a new ROM, but I'm not familiar enough with them to pick one.
My wishlist:
-I'd like to move up to a 2.2 build
-go to a more vanilla Android (not TouchWiz)
-I'd prefer speed and stability over snazzy theming or custom animations
-I'd love to get rid of the long time to startup, and the annoying sound that goes with startup/shutdown
-At this point I'm not looking to overclock (one step at a time )
-I do like my Swype keyboard, and would like to keep it
-I plan to start using my phone in place of my iPod, so music friendliness would be a plus.
I'm not sure what other info would help narrow this down, but any suggestions? I'm loving the idea that my awesome phone could be even better.
Sounds like Eugene R2 with Swype added back (it doesn't come with it).
His io kernel helps. You would really benefit from voodoo though.
Thanks for the response. I'll give that a try. I may have to read up on voodoo because I have no idea what that is, but I think I'm fairly comfortable with how to put in a new ROM or kernel.
Thanks for your help! Any other suggestions (or just agreement with the first one) would be welcome.
Yeah, curious if others have another suggestion. Nero with voodoo us gold for me.
Here is voodoo:

Nero has it though, you just need to enable it (he has really good instructions In the nero v3 thread). Always remember to disable before you flash anything else though, or you'll have to use odin to get back to stock (my warning, seriously, worth it though)
Ext4 makes the Vibrant a new phone.
I would second that opinion on Eugenes GingerBread Clone R2 . Ive been running it and I cant say anything bad about it . IO kernel has great battery life as for swype I just pulled it from NeroV3 . If you want you can go to Q&A section and I have directions and the files need to get swype running . The title is "WHERE DO I GET SWYPE FOR EUGENES GINGERBREAD CLONE?" .
I really appreciate the help guys. I'm going to give the GingerBread Clone a run here in the next hour or so and see how it goes.
Any last advice for a first time ROM-flasher?
Make sure you are not hardware locked before you do anything .

I just wanted to thank everybody again. I kind of fell off using forums for a while, but I thought it was worth coming back to give an update. I flashed the Gingerbread Clone ROM that night and have been using it since.
I love it! My battery lasts between 30-35 hours per charge most of the time as long as I'm not gaming on it. There was a little bit of an adjustment period for a couple things, but I'm definitely happy with it. No pulldown settings toggles was a change, and the non-Swype keyboard was too. I'd say I actually prefer the new keyboard because of the good autocomplete options within just a couple letters, and I never went back to Swype.
I don't know if I could even quantify all of the little differences, but overall it seems to be snappier with better battery life. Can't complain about that! Thanks to everybody who offered suggestions.
I said 30-35 hours, but I just looked at my phone and saw I'm currently at 2 days and 6.5 hours since my last charge. Haven't used my phone a ton the last couple days, so that gives an idea of how intense the battery life has been. I'm at 54 hours and I still have another couple left if the battery indicator is to be believed.
Alright, so I am relatively new to the HTC Legend (Not so much to the Android world, 8 month owner of a I9000). The phone was bought used for my girlfriend (Directed her away from the Iphone, and towards HTC as its my first choice these days). Phone is on Rogers here in Canada. The phone was sold to her with cyanogenmod 7.0.2 installed. She noticed that she wasnt getting any missed calls or new voicemails, which is a issue for her as she is on call 24/7. I upgraded to 7.0.3 on the weekend to see if the issues were resolved and no change. Googled the issue and found out it was a bug in the cm7 release....
I googled and searched to see if there had been anyone who had asked this question. Thought maybe someone on here may have ran across the same issue as me and perhaps can point me in the right direction, I have posted a posting up on the cyanogenmod forums as well. Site has worked wonders for my samsung I9000 so figured I would post up about this here as well....
Can I downgrade to cm6 easily? Does cm6 have the same issues as cm7 has with the missed calls and voicemail notifications?
If the answer is yes....
Can anyone direct me to where i can get a stock firmware for the phone so i can revert back to stock till the issues are resolved?
Thank you very much!
Hey, If your GF did not personalize the phone much, I'd recommend going to B0.8.4 ROM, all works perfect as far as I know (but it is Froyo as opposed from CM7 which is GB)
It feels almost like stock but it is faster with many advantages My GF has it as well as I have switched to DS
As for the backup/restore, I'm sure you know can move a lot of things with apps like TitaniumBackup, MyBackup etc... I'd go that way B0.8.4 suited me a lot as I wanted sense...
Cheers!
Cool, I will give that a try and see how it turns out. i do have titanium backup so I will run that on ther phone first this time before the upgrade. Link looks like a win win!
Thanks!
C7 is good
hey...the C7 mod was slightly slow and sluggish on my legend, but after i customized it, it is super fast, will post a video soon!
I know I know, you're all tired of these threads asking questions about the Evo I understand but I just have a few questions that I would like to ask before I shell out the dinero on this bad boy so please be easy on me
1. How is performance(lag/stuttering/wait times) after a couple weeks of owning the Evo?
2. Is the multitasking issue really that bad? Is it lack of RAM because of sense? Can this be fixed by OTA or custom ROMs? I've read some ROM threads and some tweaks seem to alleviate the issue but not by much.
3. How has your overall all experience with this phone been? Any bugs that are common? Radios,GPS, wifi? Software bugs?
Okay thanks guys those are the only questions I have, I'm looking at the Evo and the S3 but the Evo is the phone that's getting my attention the most and I just want to ask some questions before I pull the trigger. Sorry if I annoyed anyone by the thread, again thank you if you reply
I don't have one but am also thinking of getting one in the future. The new problem with the phone bending is a major concern to me. If you ever plan on carrying it in your pants pocket you may want to consider a different phone. If it's to be carried in a purse or shirt pocket it's probably ok....http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1679027

1. Had mine for a week and a half and lag doesnt exist on this.
2. It is kind of a pain in the butt. Especially when going back to a web page(even if it was you last task). It reloads the whole page and puts you back at the top of the page.
3. GPS and WIFI are flawless. Quick locks and no issues. 3G is a hit or miss for some people. It seems that 3G will shut off when using wifi but has problems picking it back up. Switching airplane mode or mobile network on/off fixes it usually. Sometimes a restart is needed.
Coming from the EVO 3D, I am very happy with the phone over all. The little things seem like they could be easily fixed with a software update or a dev working their magic. The GS3 has the same internals pretty much and doesnt face the 3G connectivity issues. Hope and pray....
Good luck on what ever you choose.
Got mine on release day(in store release day, not preorder), very rarely do I see any lag in the phone.
The memory management could be better, like stated. The most annoying thing is opening the browser expecting a page to have loaded and be ready for you (I tend to switch apps while I wait for a page to load - habit officially broken.) The page has to completely reload.
Wifi has been my only issue, occasionally I have to cycle Wifi on/off to get it to pick up on my home network - oddly never happens at work, but I guess that's got something to do with my cheap router vs an enterprise class one.
I get better reception with this phone just about every where than any of my previous phones, last one I had was the Photon and now my wife has it.
I get a new device every 6 months or so and have had most of the high end Sprint phones, except the 3D. That said, this is the best of the best I have ever experienced.
As for the bending the phone if its in your pocket? I haven't had a problem with it. My guess is that some of the phones have a week spot in the chassis. If it happens, I'd take it back to Sprint.

I've had the Evo for about 3 weeks now. I've been rooted running MeanROM for a little over a week. The multitasking was annoying at first, but you get used to it. Other than that. The phone is amazing. I actually convinced one of my apple evangelist friends to make the switch after he used my phone.

Ummm, that's not a bug, that's a new 'feature'. Only way to remove it is to flash an earlier ICS build or a custom ROM.

I never said it was a bug or any such thing, but thank you for the answer!
Hello, long time DX2 rom user here. I have been using CM7 for awhile now, and the phone has slowed itself down considerably since I first flashed it. The biggest problem is that I think some of my text messages are taking a really long time to reach the person I'm sending them to.
I'd really hate to have to re-flash CM7 or even switch to Eclipse, but that right now looks like the only option. Has anyone else ever had this issue with a ROM? Thanks.

I never was on cm7 long enough to notice the delayed sms. I have experienced lag on virtually every ROM I've been on with this phone. I would check to make sure you aren't running too many apps or widgets that use data in the background. You can always clear cache and dalvik. Or wipe data if you don't mind starting over. All of the ROMs I've used have run smooth and quick right away. I would guess that you have some background processes running. Even if our phone had 1 gb of ram we would still notice it slowing down a bit, but it would take a while longer. I am loving cm10 right now because I'm able in developer settings to limit background processes to 3 and it really seems to help. I'm not sure that cm7 has that option.

I used this ROM for about 1 week and after the first day I started receiving delayed messages, and my phone started sending them late too. Honestly this is a know issue about CM7 so yes SOME people may experience this, I'm currently using liberty 3 and I love it! I used Liberty 3 for about 2 months and so far it runs smooth with no lag whatsoever.

Really? I didn't know that it was a known issue with CM7. I CANNOT have it because the girl I'm talking to is starting to think I'm purposely waiting 5 hours to reply to her texts LOL.
Looks like I'll be going back to Eclipse when I have the time.

LOL that's funny. They're crazy enough as it is, I can't afford to have my Custom Rom making things worse HAHAHA
Just remember girls are never wrong XD haha and sorry for getting off topic here ha
Same problem with CM7, I think at this point it's a known issue. I was also receiving the same messages 3-7 times in a row, which I thought was weird. Wiped and Reflashed. Fixed both issues.
