When calls get to me through the switchboard it displays 2 zeros in front of calling number. This means that no phone numbers in my contacts are with two zeros and my contacts does not get displayd. Android system does not filter these zeros, all my other phones have (p1,x1). Anybody have a solution for this?

This is ridiculous, why won't Android phones work with Google Voice when my data connection is not switched on?
I am not trying to call using VOIP, I am trying to call out using my cellular minutes such that the person I am calling will see my Google Voice number on his Caller ID. Is there anyway to do this without having an internet connection?
If there is no way to do this, what apps are there to set this up "manually"? On my old Windows Mobile phone, whenever I call out, I have a software that automatically dials my GV number, enters PIN and dials the number that I dial using the GV interface via phone.
I only found a Flex Dialer app, but that does not report numbers in my call log correctly. Is there any other apps out there?

On my Nexus 1 with both wifi and 3G turn off, I can make calls with GV app just fine.

When I receive a text from someone and I check the notification that is on my productivity lock screen, it shows their phone number instead of name. Is there a way to have it display the name of the person calling?
I think it's a bug. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I've had this happen to me.
Agreed about it being a bug. On 3d it does Dave thing with ics ROM.

Do you have the numbers saved in your contacts? Mine shows the names when someone texts me.
I found that when the numbers are saved in the format (xxx) xxx-xxxx, it will display the numbers when you receive a text as opposed to the name. Try changing it to just xxxxxxxxxx and see if that helps. Worked for me

Anybody else having weird problems when dialing through Google voice, it shows as dialing some weird number instead of actual recepient number, it connects fine though but both while dialing and in call log it shows as some random number.
Mine does the same thing. When I call it shows some weird number in the voice notification. But connects to the number i called.
Only difference is mine shows shows the right number while in the call and in the call log.

Google Voice has always done this for me on my Droid X. On the DX it would be a white popup over the dialer saying it was connecting to some odd number. Sometimes it would be the same number in succession but it seems to change every now and again. It was never in the same area code as my VZW number.
Honestly, I don't know if I've made an out going call on my S3 yet! My GV number rings through to my office phone, the S3, and Google Talk/sipdroid (for IP phone goodness on the retired DX).
I have noticed that I've been able to txt someone from GV and the conversation picks up in the stock messaging app. I'm on VZW and this was NOT the case with the DX. It wouldn't pick up a reply to GV txt in stock messaging. I don't know about initiating the msg from the stock app though. I'll have to test that.

You know I'm not sure what my old Inc does. I'll have to see if it has that weird number as well.
And as for receiving them in the stock messaging app as opposed to the voice app there is a setting in the voice app under "sync and notification" to change between the two. I've never used it through the stock messaging app so have no idea about it.

I read somewhere that it has something to do with (at least in ATTs case) that they don't include the gvoice api. Might be the same for Verizon.
Hopefully some talented dev. will be able to make a simple CWM fix for this annoying problem.
I have a quick question.
Is there any app that can use your phone number?
For Example, If I were to install Pinger it would assign a new texting number for me.
So, is there an app that can directly connect to my number that I already have for making phone calls? I don't want to have two different phone numbers. One for voice and one for data.
Unfortunately, you are stuck, if you want to text through data, then you must get a # designated to the app. To text through your native # would be texting through your carriers plan. Hope I was able to shed some light

Viber uses to your phone number.
For some unknown reason, the caller ID has stopped working on my DNA. The display still shows the number of the caller, but I no longer get the name and picture of the person calling. I have my wife saved as a contact and when she calls I just get the number, and after the call it asks me if I want to save the number to a contact, but the number is already saved in her contact information!! I can't think of anything I might have done or installed that would cause this. Any ideas? Thanks!
Try wiping the cache and data in your dialer.apk and I would do the same thing in your contacts app but make sure you back your contacts up so they can be restored easily. Then do a reboot and report back.

Looks like it was caused by the Jawbone software I installed for my Jawbone ERA. Thanks for the help!
