i clicked on the htc touch pro 2 icon and it only showed 4 items. im sorry and feel like an idiot now that i didnt even think to type in the search box.... BUT i did read your last comment and went back to the sight just now and typed in rhodium and didnt get any hits. so then i typed in touch pro 2 and low and behold there's the 3 keypad on the list. just placed an order about 2 min ago for an all black one instead of the silver one i have now... kinda like the facy that it blends in with the black outer part of the screen. anyhow, again i opologize for my mistake and i also thank you very much for your brilliant find! i wish there was more places like this out there.

MDA Cover

I once saw a thread for a MDA cover, it actually goes on the fone, the pictures they had showed that it was white. goes on like skin i beleive it was made of silicon. and i saw it on here once and i want to buy it now but i cant find the thread for it. does anyone know where i can find it? or know of something similar that works good? thank you
I got mine at pda-den.
Thanks =)
i found it. thanks. but quick question the one on here has a clear screen. does it work good??
screen
It is a polycarb or plexiglass flip. It's fine, just prone to scratching like all the others.
Isn't there a version without the flip?

not that I know of.
I actually bought that MDA case and really had a tough time making it stay on (just the back part).
It appears that the back part is too small... I actually ended up breaking the little "anchor" that is supposed to clip on by the spacebar. For a while I tried to just tape it on, but ended up giving up... the case is just sitting in a drawer in my desk now...
overall, I was pretty displeased with the fit of the case...

G1 housing

Brown housing on Ebay
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/T-Mobile-G1-G...14&_trkparms=72:1301|66:2|65:12|39:1|240:1318
black as well if you search, just bought a brown meself! woop.
how are u planning to take it apart?
i wanna get the white housing when it comes out.. but i;m afraid to take it apart
White G1 Housing, Attempt
I have just purchased a white g1 Housing set for $50, don't call me retarded, money wasn't really an issue for me and I hate the bronze color. Anyway, has anyone actually attempted this and successfully got it functioning afterwards? Any quick replies would be awesome, ty!
do a search for the service manual. Its floating around out there. This gives a step by step on how to take apart and put back together the dream
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=468673
Let me know how this goes. Curious as to the difficulty level.
What condition is your bronze casing in? lol I have a black, but prefer the bronze.
It's in perfect condition, I only got the phone like 2 weeks ago. No scratches or scuffs, I just prefer a different color. I'm going to give this thing a go lol, unless you're talking about a trade or something.
as long as you follow the service manual perfectly (it's pretty in-depth) then you should have no problems. doesn't look too hard to take apart, just ****ing time consuming
wanna link me to the website where you bought this housing?
i wanted white also.

I'm be interested to know how the transformation goes. I'm not really interested in changin my blakc to any other color, but I'd love to get Telefonica's modded chin installed on my phone http://htcsource.com/index.php/Android/Telefonica-to-launch-HTC-Dream-with-a-facelift.html

Yeah, I'd like to try doing that once it comes out, too!
Any updates with the conversion? Like to know if fitment was exact, etc. Really looking into the modified chin though
Anyone found a replacement housing with memory card cover?
I have dropped my phone and will be eventually looking to replace the housing.
But all the adverts on ebay(uk), none of them seem to list the memory card cover. I could use my original, but I kinda fancy a change to white! ;-)
Anyone know where to get this cover?
Thanks,
Really really sorry to bump this.....
Anyone had any luck finding spare G1 memory card covers?
Little surprised no one else is interested in this issue, especially if they fancy changing their housing (for repair/colour change) in the future.
As far as I can see, none of the sellers on ebay include this cover, so don't lose it or wreck it!
I dont think the G1 has enough of a market to mass produce housings, ebay is prob your best bet. You can try contacting HTC and see if they can give you a lead but other than that I think you'll have to look for someone with a bricked phone.
EDIT: Sorry, forgot u were lookin for mem card cover
@Edit: No problem; glad you noticed before I got round to typing reply!
Like I said, every single ebay listing I have seen does not include it.
Just seems a strange thing to for them to miss out, anyone know a reason?

off topic: yeah man I really didn't think hatton would go down so fast and hard. I really thought it would be a better fight than De La Hoya. Hope he's ok tho!

Thanks much! I think this needs to be a sticky!
hey...
just follow the service manual, the phone is *quite* easy to disassemble...
Just one remark : when yo get your old screen, check all the sticky plastics are present on the new one. if not, get the old ones and put them on the new.
I ordered a new screen some weeks ago, got it, and placed it. it didn't work, I think it was because two connectors touched a part of metal... after checking I saw the plastic present on old wasn't on new.... I think it was the problem......
(btw, the s740 screen is really not tough....)
Eh I performed a screen replacement on my fiance's Rose and using the manual helped, but it still wasn't easy in my opinion. All of that conducting tape wasn't the easiest to deal with, and putting it back down was no where as neat as it originally was. And the replacement screen is much darker than the original, although when off they look identical. One of her keys is a bit mushy now too, as the cable in the back was a bit longer than the original so it was folded up in the phone which I don't think helped things out.
Jason
I'm planning on replacing my screen and I've found this guide, which seems to be a good one: http://www.jmedved.com/2010/01/how-to-replace-broken-screen-on-htc
I've seen that guide in the past but it isn't really helpful...the best guide available is this one http://mikechannon.net/PDF Manuals/HTC_Rose_Service_Manual_A03_GENERIC.pdf

[Q] Lanyard hole?

If this was asked already, excuse my search skills, I couldn't find this on the forum.
Anyway, does the Galaxy S II have a lanyard hole?
I've tried looking at the video reviews, and countless of pictures, but either I can't see it, or it just doesn't have one.
Can someone who owns the phone confirm this, please?
I've never been a fan of lanyards, but considering $800 will be dangling from my fingers every time I use the phone, I'd much rather have a strap of some sort in case I manage to drop it. Yes, even with a case on, I'd still like a lanyard of some sort.
Thanks!

There is no lanyard hole...i thought there was one at first as there is a random hole on the top left but its jist a hole(what is it for?), no two exits for lanyards...

Yes there is. Top left. I have used two different lanyards.

LOL -- I think that's a cute answer.
The random hole is the lanyard hole -- like the previous reply shows, you first remove the back cover.
Next to that random hole, you'll notice there is a hook right next to the hole. Push the entire small loop (the phone end of the lanyard) through the hole, wrap the loop around the hook, and pull to tighten.
The Nokia 5800 also uses a similiar style lanyard hook.

Awesome! Thanks a lot!
So not only this S2 looks sexy, sleek and with top notch hardware features, but also DOES have a lanyard hole! I'm tired of using a scotch tape hack on my HD2.
All the more reason to upgrade.
Why do guys use lanyard on their phones? I know it's cute on girls but guys... ummm...

I use it because I work in a warehouse and I am not allowed headphones and it muffles the sound in my pocket. So I hang it around my neck and run the radio for 8 hours straight.
*I work spread out in to big a area for a stationary radio. Also machinery has a habit of hitting me exactly at the pocket it would be kept in.
A couple guys like my idea that the next phones they buy are going to have radio or at least smart phones for music playback and lanyard holes.
I've seen the same note on the PDF manual for this phone.
I am not seeing this hook on the brand new AT&T Version of this phone.
Can use the fingernail hole and loop it around the camera????

screen/glass replacement

So I managed to shatter the glass on my rezound....go me. I was wondering if anybody here has replaced the screen on the rezound and how hard it is to do. I didn't find a lot of rezound tear down info out there. I do a lot of laptop work and it seems like simular construction techniques. the only thing that has me a bit concerned is the whole adhesive issue. Using a heat gun to get the old screen off and I guess the new one will either adhere to the old adhesive or I need to find a source??
Anyway they appear to be 50 dollars for the part versus 100-150 to send the phone off to have someone else do it. Any thoughts???
While I haven't done the rezound yet, I have done a few others, the most recent being a Droid X. I ordered the 'official' advesive on the first phone screen repair I did but never again. It was hard to deal with...if you don't get it right perfectly the first time... you're done. I went with a 3M double sided foam tape after that and was SO much easir to deal with. Never had a screen pop off and anything like that. My wife is still using that phone as we speak.
Next biggest thing to watch out for is tearing those damn thin cables.... they tear so easy...seriously, do not use any sort of tension on those cables. One little tear could out your camera, or soft keys... or even portions of your digitizer. Such a pain in the ass.
Take care while dis & re assemb ling it, you should be fine. It's a lot more delicate than a laptop, so be careful.
I have never replaced the screen on my Rezound, but I have done a few other phones. My wife dropped her Dinc and broke the screen, then the digitizer went out on my OG DROID. If the Rezound is built like the Dinc then you will be golden. Took only about 20 minutes. But as stated above you MUST be very careful when disassembling the phone. The micro ribbons are a little forgiving but are pretty delicate.
Good luck though and let us know how it works out for you.

Well I opted to get it replaced mainly because I found a local place that could do it and had the part in stock. However the one they installed has clear buttons instead of red, which I like more but I think its best to stay with the way it is suppose to look. Also there is a small black line that they think might be a smug. They are looking for a screen with the factory red buttons. The question I have is I noticed this digitizer registers 4 points and I thought the rezound did 5 can someone verify how many points of touch its suppose to recognize?
