Hi,
I seem to be having a problem with spotify on VillainRom 5.4,
This is my first 2.1 rom so I can't say if it is something to do with Villain 5.4 or if it is a problem with all 2.1 roms.
The issue I'm having is that spotify stutters like crazy (even when in offline mode) as soon as there is some mobile data network activity.
e.g. If I open a browser and navigate to a web page music playback will cut out, if I go to the friendstream widget and it starts to update then the sounds will stutter and cut out etc...
It's very annoying but I don't know if it's just me or if this is an issue that can be fixed?
Have you tried to set up autokiller (preinstalled in 5.4)?
Open it up and set it to "moderate" and see if it improves anything.
I am using Spotify with the std VillainRom 5.4 and works perfect.

I've tried adjusting autokiller but it didn't seem to do anything to help my problem, I tested it by loading up the htc website while spotify is playing offline music and it was breaking up horribly
Argghhh, still having the same problem, I've done a complete reflash of 5.4 and re-downloaded all my spotify tracks and it still breaks up when there is data transfer going on.
I've also done what lenny suggested and set autokiller to moderate and I've still got the issue.
Can somebody please confirm that it works ok for them by doing the following.
1) Set spotify offline
2) start playing some music
3) Open the browser on the phone
4) use google to search for the htc homepage
5) navigate to the htc homepage from the link in google
It's so frustrating
I've just done a logcat and have noticed that when the audio cuts out, it seems that the following message is displayed in the log:
Code:
I/AudioHardwareMSM72XX( 120): AudioHardware pcm playback is going to standby.
D/StreamProcess( 120): OutputStreamProcess::ResetAOLC()
W/AudioTrack( 1711): obtainBuffer timed out (is the CPU pegged?) 0x408e48 user=0
00ee088, server=000d8800
I/AudioHardwareMSM72XX( 120): AUDIO_START: start kernel pcm_out driver.
can somebody please tell me why this is happening :'(
I have the same issue. If I play Spotify and browse the web, open other apps or even swipe though the home screens fast the Spotify will stutter greatly.
Had the same issue with earlier versions of Villain and now with version 10.
Full wipe and format of SD-card when installed ROM.

When I pause the movie and play again.
The movie is getting very lag.
But if I enter preference setting to set the audio page and back to player.
The movie is good again.
WHY.......
I need help...
Not alot of info to go on there dude, which WM version are you running this on?
One thing you could do is download a tweak app such as HTCustom by shadowmite.....and increase the memory cache levels....this has been known to help with video playback on certain devices.........also go into the advanced settings in coreplayer and enable microdrive mode....run the video from the microdrive and see if it helps.
Try the microdrive tweak first.
The OS is WM6
If I check the Microdrive mode.
Should I change the "Microdrive start at"?
Now is 1472 KB.
I have the same problem with core player...but all modification with cache or microdrive settings doesn't help. I think it is a bug in the audiostream, because when i change the audio settings the movie runs well...but when i hit pause and then start again the movie is laggy

I'm having the same problem playing back basic MP3 files, audio only. Very weird.
**Edit, my problem seems to only be on 48 kbit/s MP3 files, higher bitrate play without issues. Anyone seen this?
Same problems here - the following settings solved my problems:
menu-tools-preferences-select page-buffering-buffer size = 24000KB
menu-tools-preferences-select page-video-video output=raw frameBuffer
In mine I find out that if you go to full screen clicking in the screen then goes to lag thing but if you click the tiny icon in the right-top of the screen then goes to full screen without a problem.
This is happening to me but only with video and only in some videos not all of them.
My fight with Coreplayer is more on video being frozen when the screen contents changes very quickly. For sample on the intro of SouthPark when the hands quickly makes the characters with papper pieces. That scene is very quick and I got the image frozen sometines. I'm playing around with the buffering options but the problem remains.
Best Regards,
mahjong
P.S.: nrm your setting doesn't solve the problems to me. I tried with Direct Draw, ATI, Raw and many other without success. And I got my buffer to 40000 and 100%.
I'm sorry my suggested settings did not fix your problems. There is a vast world of potential settings - both in Coreplayer and registery.
I am running Coreplayer from the Microdrive but the movie is on my storrage card.
Is the SouthPark video short enough to post somewhere for me to try?
I'm using it the same way... program stored at microdrive and movie stored at miniSD.
Unfortunelly is a complete SouthPark chapter so is big (the one banned because "attack" scienciology). Anyway I'll keep on playing with the settings.
Thank you,
mahjong

I'm having the same problem with sections of The Daily Show, usually when returning from a commercial break and the logo flashes across the screen it just stops dead. Very very frustrating, please share if you find a way to resolve this problem.
I will. But looks a matter of playing with settings on memory, buffers, and video configuration.
Something I test is the difference on having the movie in the Microdrive or miniSD. Looks the same to me... and it's not strange since I'm using a buffer size of 40000 KB with a preload at underrun of 100% what as far as I know means that Coreplayer need to load 40000 KB (100%) of the movie into the memory before starting it.
That means (from my point of view) that the problem relays in the procedure of taking images from the memory and not from the SD or microdrive.
I'll keep on testing. And I need to compare those problems with TCPMP.
My problem with TCPMP is that damage the notification queue every single time I install or run the program.
Best regards,
mahjong

I've the same problems and the solution above does fix them.
THANK YOU!!!
Ok, i have a problem.
Whenever I have a program open and i switch to another program after a few seconds my the first program shuts down.
this is very annoying when I play music and put of my phone screen. because when s2u comes up the music stops, so I can't use it as my mp3 player.
The same with opera mobile, when i download a cab and install it i have to restart opera after the installation because it stopped by itself.
I am using korand's clean wm6.1 rom and wktasks.
I had the same problem with a few other wm6 and 6.1 roms.
Any help will be appreciated!
This is because of the way M$ make the ROMs function. The memory (and any programs running from it) is cleared as soon as a foreground task (such as opera) that requires RAM is opened. My suggestion would be to run as few programs as possible, and to change the page pool until it works effectively.
thanks, but i have 16-18 megs of ram free when using coreplayer or tcpmp so that could be the problem with music, right?
with opera i can understand and thats not the biggest issue. i just want to play music ^^
Is TCPMP set to play music when the device is turned off, and is it actually closed or just minimized and paused? Does this happen when S2U is not running (when both iLock and S2U2 are closed)?
Just updated my XV6800 to the new No2Chem ROM. Anyone ever have the following problem: song plays for 20-28 seconds and then skips to next song and then repeats. Never gets beyond 28 seconds.
I see it on both WMP and Audio Manager. Any help will be appreciated.
I have been having the exact sae problem. I started using Slide 2 Play and the problem stopped.
I have it happen to me sometimes....It only happened when I had a batteryplugin running...I just uninstalled battplugin and dont really have issue anymore. You can also try killing all programs before launching music program and see if that helps
the problem is oxios close apps, if you have that app then the wmp acts stupid, uninstall and all will be fixed. i use sktools to free up RAM
I use Player Pro and Power AMP to play my music and whenever the phone goes in standby the music stutters. I bring the screen up and it plays flawlessly.
Running GeeWiz 2.1 w/KGB1127... also running an Audio manager...
I bumped up the profile in SetCPU from 400/100 to 800/100... and still stutters in standby.
This is with both headsets and Bluetooth setups.
Any ideas? thx
it also does this on CM 7.1 stable w/ Glitch v13 kernel...
anyone?
Well... just in case anyone is interested... I've managed to fix this... kinda.
I used SetCPU, and my screen off profile is 400/100 @ 1050mV
I bumped it up to 400/200
music plays almost flawlessly in screen off mode. Thanks for reading.
Was the music constantly skipping or would it play fine for a while, then skip a little bit? This happens to me with google music on MIUI/Glitch, and I haven't been able to figure out if it's an issue with the app itself or something kernel related I could tweak to eliminate the skipping.
I have the same issue as well. I'm using the MIUI 1.12.23 as well as Glitch v13 kernal. Any ways to fix this? I've tried two different MicroSD cards (8GB class 4 and 32GB class 4) and both had the same issue of music skipping when tracks are changing as well as when I wake the phone up from idle state.
I believe it's a kernel issue. it skipped badly on CM7 and glitch... MIUI is kinda the same i guess. I believe it's tied into the battery drain issue with Wifi, bluetooth, and auto sync on CM7.1. I tried the nightly v112, and still a little drain. had to manually turn off all switches or my battery would be dead in the morning. This "glitch" is the same as whats making the music skip... something is pulling power from the cpu and away from the music player.
I fixed it a little bit... i mean, yeah, it skiped and stopped and wasn't playing right, but i had to bump up the bottom number on my cpu voltage from 100Hz default to 200Hz
This helps... but it still skips a little, but not nearly as bad as before.
i'm running GeeWiz ROM now, which doesn't have the battery drain issue, and it seems to lesson the issue.
mine is a temp fix
Hm, I don't use bluetooth and am not always on wifi, I do have some things set to sync though but still experience the skipping. I also have already tried bumping the minimum frequency up to 200mhz and it didn't seem to make and appreciable difference. Although I'm not sure what it's related to, I'm not 100% that it isn't just the google music app when streaming, but my incredible seemed to play music skip-free in the same situations. I haven't yet tried playing locally stored music to see if the issue's still there.
I'm thinking of maybe trying changing the screenstate scaling settings for the kernel, but wish I knew where the issue stemmed from. Any kernel related adjustments haven't fixed the problem so far.
I don't know what it was but the problem is fixed for me. But I had to do a lot of things to get it working. I went back to stock EH03 Gingerbread. Then flashed to GeeWiz 2.4.2 ...then flashed KGB 1127 Kernel and then flashed the recommended LOGCAT fix. After that I updated all of my apps from the market that I could. Got rid of all the apps that suck major cpu usage like Facebook and PowerAmp music player. I switched to PlayerPro music player... Then I used Titanium backup to uninstall all stock music players...
I'm pretty noob at this so I wasn't sure if uninstalling stock apps would work but its good to go. I uninstalled the stock pic gallery as well... All is well... Plays music flawlessly now.
So idk if it was any or all I did but it worked. Seems like it was either apps stealing power or switch bugs in the other roms. But I'm loving GeeWiz 2.4.2 w/KGB 1127 Kernel with the Logcat fix.
Like I said... I'm noob at this so when in doubt... Start over.
Hope that helps.

I forgot to mention that I updated my recovery to CWM3 Voodoo Blue... That I believe was a smart move. GeeWee recivery is fine, but hard to root with... And CWM recovery.all which is 2.5 something has always been flakey for me. I think i'm pretty content finally. Lots of flashing... Ugh

I updated the radio to EC09 and tried different SD cards but got the same issue. I flashed back to stock and flashed KANG version of CM7. Both the stock music player and PowerAMP don't skip when I change tracks or wake the phone up from sleep. Has anyone tried the latest version of MIUI (2.1.6)? Do music tracks skip when changing tracks or waking from sleep?
Can anybody recommend another kernal to use with 2.1.6 MIUI rom that remedies the issue with music skipping?
What class SD cards are you guys using? I have no problems but I use a class 10 card. When I asked my wife how her fully stock Fascinate player works, she had complaints much like yours. I put my SD card in her phone and it played for 2 hours without issue. Her card is the one that came with the phone, a class 2. She also showed me video recording had problems which were also resolved with the class 10 card.
Now I need to know how to get my card back from her - lol.
I don't really keep music on my SD card, I stream it using google music and that's where the skipping happens for me so it's not the SD card. It does it even when the song is fully buffered, so it's not necessarily a connection/data issue either. It's like the music player isn't properly kept in the foreground and the music skips while the phone is "thinking" - doing other things in the background.
Edit: Found an app that works, see comments.
Hey, is there any currently working way of disabling audiofocus for centan apps?
I want to listen to music on spotify and play video audio out of chrome or opera at the same time. I would prefer for the sporify audio to duck (reduce the volume) when opera is playing audio, but not stop compleately. If ducking isnt an option, playing with the same volume is fine too.
Ive tried the ADB command thing here on chrome, but it just made chrome not able to play any video. The video would play for .1 second and stop everytime.
Also ive tried samsung sound assistant, but a) there isnt an option to disable audio focus on apps anymore, b) my tab s2 (gts210velte/SM-T819) cant run the app anymore after installed lineage os 16.0 (android 9)
I dont care if its an app i have to buy, but i just need to be able to play multiple audio at the same time. If i cant mess with audiofocus is it possible to make spotify automatically play the music again after the other audio stops? Now i have to lower the drop-down notification bar and continue evrery time and its driving me crazy!
Also, the tablet is rooted via magisk.
Any help is appreciated
Bump
Anybody?
Nnm, if anybody has the same problem: found an app called app ops (root) that allows to disable audio focus.
First touhgt i had to disable it on opera browser, but when i did this opera wasnt able to play anything, then i disabled it from spotify and now its working as intended.
99% sure it works on chrome too.

Thanks! app ops offer exactly what i want and even more!
Wow, i forgot how i did this. Recently got a new phone, started googling and found this thread i forgot i made.
At first it wasnt working, but noticed that if you are using viper4android you have to change settings to "Legacy mode". Im guessing it will work fine if not using viper.
Im trying to achieved the same thing. Successfully gained access to disable audio focus but when i do that it just doesnt allow apple music to play anything. Any specifics i should do?
Hello,
Using App Ops, I disabled "audio focus" on the Spotify app, and was able to simultaneously play YouTube in browser (m.youtube.com via Kiwi).
Thanks for this discovery !
