Please read this before start asking questions
1.Android is in testing development.
2.Is not working fully.
3.You can't install Android in your phone.
4.You can run Android in your phone with Haret and see how it look but:
5.There are no working wifi, bluetooth, phone calls, battery, usb conection, ac charger connection and many other things....
6.All drivers and kernel are still under construction.
7.Now you know that Android is not working fully in our phone.
8.If you still want help and test build that is OK.
Now to run Android properly in your phone !
1.Download any of the builds we have around here.
2.Do backup on your sdcard or if you have additional one use this one.
3.Extract the file with android in your sdcard.
4. Check all the files are inside (sdcard/Android/AndroidApps"folder", media"folder",root"folder",clrcad"file",rootfs"fil e",startup"file",system"file",zImage"file",initrd" file")
5. If you want you can take everything from Android folder and pest it in root of the sdcard but you have to change default text (set cmdline"rel_path=Android change to set cmdline"rel_path=" or set cmdline"rel_path=sdcard") tri with one if is not working try with the other one. I thing the best is leave all files and folder in default Android folder and just copy this folder to your sdcard.
6.Check your zImage and Startup is for Toshidroid :OP (TG01).
7.First RUN haret without CLRCAD.
8.It take no more than10 min to run for the first time.
9. If it take more time RESTART the phone by pressing the POWER BUTTON for 10/20 sec it will restart and back to windows.
11.Try to do the same one more time.
12.If it still not booting to Android and you receive any error messages. Check your sdcard if there is space left in it. Check error message if it say that it can find some file or it can't create a data.
13. Delete everything from your sdcard and format it to fat32.
14.Start from the beginning.
15. If it still not booting to Android then check if you have all files and all set how it has to be.
16. Don't forget you can broke your phone. And we are not responsible for any damage you cause to your phone.
17.It is all up to you.
19. If I forget something sorry about just ask there are other memebers who will try to help you if they can.
20. Sorry for my English mistakes. I'm trying to fix them. :OP
Thanks to all people who try their best to make that possible: Markinus, Arash18k,Bally3,Endrix,Nyl,Arnookie and all other.

The android screen (1.5 cupcake) on Tosh TG01 was taken from intomobile.com

There is no android for HD2 or Acer F1/s200 (and these phones have bigger community) so I don't think someone here will run android on TG01 until it comes for one of these two mentioned above...

you are right..
however I have googled and found these.
http://htcandroid.xland.cz/
http://xdandroid.southcape.org/
I am not into programing but it might give some head start to who want to make it happpen..

I don't know how to go about porting android to TG01, but I'm looking into it... don't know if it will go anywhere but what the hell, it's worth a try.

Maybe one of the ROM developers can have a look at these and convert the drivers to TG01?!

Don't know much about Android. But I think Haret is only a bootloader. You still need the Android files to boot.

Yep Haret kills the WinMo kernel to boot another one, i've got the Xperia X10 and Acer Liquid Kernels source code, so i'm going to build them just to see how far it will go and hopefully create a starting point for Android on TG01

Just to keep you updated, i'm not getting anyware for the moment, but i'm not giving up, if anyone has got any info on building a linux kernel for snapdragon please post it

Google Nexus one, acer liquid and many other devices have Snapdragon and Android.
If it's found some info about linux kernel on them, it would be a good starting point, don't you think?
EDIT: I've just google a little and found this:
NEXUS ONE KERNEL POSTED
Cyanogen has developed a web for developing nexus one kernel. So, maybe, you can find something there.
Here you can find a kernel for Nexus One
And here you can find the kernel source for the Acer Liquid

Yep, i've installed the 10.04, and it's pretty cool, on my dell precision m6500, i had a probleme getting the wifi working but other than that it runs like a charm

Has anyone got any idea on how to find the 'RAMADDR' and 'RAMSIZE' for haret ?

these are for HTC diamond witch has 192 mb ram
set RAMSIZE 0x7800000
set RAMADDR 0x10000000

Yeah but it is specific to every phone... so I either somebody already know them, or I need a way to find them..

'der hermes rom koch' v0.1, probably the easiest way to cook

thanks to pof and olipro for betatesting
this is probably the easiest way to cook your hermes rom.

-it supports several ways of adding files to the rom: drag and drop or browsing
-easy removal of files in the rom
-easy way of editing the volumelayout (initflashfiles.dat)
-easy compiling
-easy dumping
-a console that shows you whats going on
-registry editing ( not yet fully functional, leave your fingeres off that )
well everything is easy
i'm sorry for this crappy presentation, it's late now and i'll have to go to the hospital tomorrow and i'll be off for a few days.. feel free to ask pof/olipro if you got some questions
a quick introduction on how to add your own theme (.tsk) file to a rom:
1.) download it and extract
2.) install the java runtime (required for achefs script, i inted to port his script to c or c# but that might take a while) , the run time can be found in "install me first"
3.) start the executable
4.) you will notice that all buttons except "select source rom" are grayed out.. push "select source rom" and browse into 'ROMS\' select the 'Clean-WM6-OS.nb' rom there
5.) now "dump rom" and "compile rom" became available... we don't need to dump the rom for this purpose (do this if you want to edit the initflashfiles or if you want to remove files from the rom) at this stage don't push anything
now comes the fun part
6.) simply drag and drop the tskfile(s) of your choice into the "files to be added" listbox
7.) now give your romfile a name using the outputrom editbox
8.) you're done, click "compile rom" and lean back.
yes, rom cooking was never that easy and enjoyable
last warning, use this at your own risk. this is beta software. i'm not responsible if your device gets damaged during any of this nor is your provider or xda-developers.
edit: ai ai ai, i cant believe i've actually packaged the "branded sheep".. sorry guys... it's fixed now contains the real vanilla rom
besides that you can now download the thing without any rom at all...
download: http://rapidshare.com/files/18812655/_romkoch_full.rar.html (with wm6.0 vanilla rom)
download: http://rapidshare.com/files/18811961/_romkoch_light.rar.html ( without wm6.0 vanilla rom )
installation notes: v0.1 has a small bug that prevents you from having foldernames with spaces so for this first release install to c:\xda-dev\kitchen or something like that.. make sure there are no spaces
well done, thanks for the kitchen!
WOW! This has been a big week for the hermes. Thanks dutty for a great and easy way to use a lot of great tools. Thanks for the help and the next step forward!
WOW! That's fantastic!
I'm sorry for asking, but, can *someone* who is good at cooking please provide a tutorial on how to add a program from a .cab file? I have the tools to open the cab file, but, what do I do with the pieces?
Sorry, one final question. The 'clean' WM6 rom.. Is it the vanilla rom? or K's rom? or...?
I'm pretty sure the clean one is vanilla.

seems to be kyphur's rom. I just used the tool to flash a slightly modified rom and it shows xda-live on today screen.
Holy crap, this is gonna take all the technical know-how out of it. On one hand, that's great for people like me because we can start cooking ROMs without knowing what we're doing. On the other hand, that really sucks for people like me because we can start cooking ROMs without knowing what we're doing.
But THANK YOU! Now I can get started and fill in a lot of the gaps later (though I'm not sure whether that's a good thing or not).
And Vista compatible, I see? Very nice!

thanks.. dont be afraid there is really not much you can do wrong that will brick your device.. just watch out that your rom isnt getting too big..
in the next version i'll implement checks that prevent the creation of a rom thats too big, then theres no danger at all

open the cab with wince cab manager, extract files and drag&drop them to the kitchen, edit initflashfiles.dat to tell the specific location of the files on imgfs, if the cab also contains registry settings add them to default.hv (or user.hv if the settings are on HLMU), that should be enough for most of the apps
Thanks Dutty !
WIll test this right away be flashing my Extra Device.
dutty.... you are the man!!!!
I keep getting an error when I try to dump the ROM. Please see attached TXT file.

I've got .NET 1.1 and 2.0 installed. (Does that seem strange to anyone? Wouldn't one upgrade the other?) It happens on any ROM I try. The last line in the console says, "---->Done Executing: Tools\viewimgfs.exe"

could not find a part of the path?? sounds like a subfolder is missing.. hmm, maybe the path is to long, try to shorten it -

removed the hotfix, it's not necessary.

[DEV] PSXPeria 2.0 for Sony Tablet

I've posted here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1365680 but I feel like I can get some more Tablet S audience here.
To summarize what this tool does, it basically extracts the emulator data from Crash Bandicoot, patches it, and allows you to load any PSX game that you rip to run on your device.
Check the link above for more information and download links.
Here's my request to you tablet users:
First of all, I need people to test this as I do not own a Sony Tablet. More importantly, I need different APKs from people. Currently, the only APK of crash bandicoot I have for the Tablet S is one with a CRC32 checksum of 6c7c966b (NCEA00344.apk). If you have a version that has a different checksum (I'm looking for the US version especially), please PM me with a copy of it. I need to manually patch each version of the game to support it with the tool.
Again, I do not own a Tablet, so development will not be as fast as it is for the Play. Therefore, it is up to beta testers like you to help me get it working. If anything goes wrong, I need psxperia.log found in the folder you extracted the files to and android's logcat if you can get it. It would also be nice if a developer for this device can take care of supporting it. Or, if anyone's feeling generous, get me a tablet (I can also look into unlocking it, I have a couple of ideas), but I know that's asking too much.
I just got one today. How can I help?
I pledge $30 to get you the tablet. Don't even have time to convert images for your new beta as i still have them working on my previous version on xperia play with the older firmware but admire your dedication to keeping this project alive. I can donate this money straight away if you want - i just hope you get the tablet soon.
Sent from my Sony Tablet S using Tapatalk
I have HK version of Tablet S, but I do not know how to extract the apk from it as there is no root for Tablet. Please advise. Thanks.
I've Medievil and Destruction Derbi from store in a Sony Tablet S, where i can find that files?
When i try to install a game converted with this software i get an error from table ("Not installed"), maybe is Android version (Android 3.2.1).
i didnt think of ttrying the psxperia on my tablet, i will get on this today, and let you know what i find! since im still waiting for FedEX to deliver my Xperia Play.
EDIT: got the .apk for you. Mine is NCUA94900, not sure about the check sum, but im about to pm you about it.
I'd be happy to test things out as I'm keen to try Driver 2 ISO which I'd found - excuse my ignorance, but without ROOT, how is it possible for me to obtain the Crash Bandicoot APK file and I assume it is "NCUC80631_T1_1_01.zpak" required from the Android/Data...... folder
Thanks.

There are a few different ways to do it. Without root, I used Astro to browse up to the root and then I could freely browse the system partitions (you just cant write to it). You could always try ADB as well, if you've got that working..
And I've just sent through my APK from my Tablet S. Thanks!
Just created my first APK with PSXPeria 1.0 as 2.0 doesn't work with me and there is no error log showing - the APK doesn't work, it installs but bounces back to the homescreen, the data files are in the correct places.
With 2.0, it just hangs at "Checking files...."
Any ideas please?
Just had some kind help from a forum member, the APK compiles when using the Xperia APK, but doesn't install on my Sony Tablet. Using the CrashBandicoot APK from the Sony Tablet, produces an error in the JAVA program.
I assume the develop is no-longer monitoring this thread, rendering my feedback and determination to run my PS1 games useless

Have you tried FPSE? almost flawless IMO
its paid but more than worth it
When trying to extract in PSXPeria it says "CAN NOT EXTRACT APK! JAVA SAYS CAN NOT FIND CONFIG FOR THIS APK CRC32: D1EEDC9F". Can anyone help me out on this? Can somebody also upload their APK file of Crash for me too? Thanks.

Could you post the errors log to the thread he has on the xperia play forum - I wonder if compiling using data from the other games from ps store would work - I had no time or know how to update my xperia play to 2.3.4 yet so staying on psxperia version 1 (on 2.3.3 experia play) for now which is not compatible with tablet s. Thanks in advance

error message posted in image above
That error in the above post means the dev hasn't included the patch for that particular APK in this version of PSXPeria. Try PM'ing the OP with a link to a copy of your apk and ask if he might be able to include it in the next release. It's all detailed in the first post of this thread. Read there.
If we keep adding APK's we might get better results across all the Tablets
Anyone know if this works? I tried to install an apk I made for my Xperia play onto the Sony tablet S. I installed it the exact same way, where I tossed the folder into Android/data/, and had the apk in the root. It wouldn't even let me install lol.
I'm guessing i'd have to rip the current Crash, and the data, and then see what I could do. I was hoping someone may have already tried this.
What would be truly legendary is if one of the emulators made managed to emulate multiplayer somehow. The only one I can see being possible in the short term is a gameboy link cable emulation via bluetooth or wifi.
Otherwise for the likes of PSX games, potentially something where a device syncs like a bluetooth controller to a "host" device. Then the host device would broadcast whats on screen to the other device and go from there (perhaps in split screen cutting the image down the middle and scretch to fit screen what remains, so you only see your player ) Pretty sure we'd have to wait for quadcore or better devices for that though haha
Alright an update on what I was testing. I got the exact same error that Cypherwolf got. I even tried to rename the apk and zpak. The oddest part is the fact that the folder of the zpak is labeled NCUA94900_T. Where as my xperia play phone has the zpak as just NCUA94900.
Though again renaming didn't seem to do jack. Not sure if its an issue with the software conversion or this "T" version of the zpak is somehow encrypted. I'll see if I can use the 1.0 version of the software and if there's any diff.
Need DEV Help
So after playing with the files from my Tablet S and messing around inside PSXperiaTool.jar with WinRAR, I added my own CRC32 to the \resources\patches. After studying the layouts of the files in the other patch folders and help from yifanlu's GitHub page, I put together a seemingly working config.xml, filelist.txt and stringReplacements.txt. I then used the game-patch.bin & libjava-activity.so.jbpatch from GitHub for the last two patch files.
Now when I run the extract on my NCUA94900.apk, I don't get any errors at all. However, I have run into a problem. When I click Convert in the convert section, the words "Checking to make sure all files are there." appear, but nothing happens.
I've tried using versions 1 and 2 of the program and both just hang there. I've also tried editing the config.xml to not patch the libjava-activity_NCUA94900_T_1.so file in \lib\armeabi, but I still have the problem.
Anyone else working on this and have gotten as far or farther?
Nope I haven't even been able to extract tnhe zpak properly it says that its not recognized. If I ignore that and continue it has the same error as above. I did find something in system/app zpackdownloader.apk, not sure what that entitles. I have a feeling that when installing something from say xperia play, something like an apk prevents it from being installed.

CHROOT Lubuntu and Ubuntu 10.10

Hi
It's a thread which collects Ubuntu stuff for SGS2 and includes some of my mods.
The content is from or based on fire314's, JDouce's and zacthespack's work. And their work is based on other people's work, so thanks everybody
Why is it better, than the sources I used?
-it's up to date
-works
-smallest download size
-less space required on sd/internal storage
-very detailed instructions
Why to use Ubuntu on an Android phone?
Why to overclock?! Just because we can do it To show off
And you can use Chromium browser to browse the web, you can edit documents in Open/Libre Office, etc.

Download
I recommend this Lubuntu img, made by zacthespack, edited by me.
It's less than 500MB to download, 1800MB img file size on the phone, and sports LXDE (leightweight desktop):
Filehosting.org
Ubuntu One
Dropbox
Google docs
It is the necessery script to run Ununtu/Lubuntu, made by fire314:
ubi.sh
Ubuntu One
Dropbox
It is an Ubuntu img (Gnome desktop), made by JDouce, modded by me.
It's almost 1GB to download and 2,5 or 3GB (I don't remember) on the phone:
Depostie Files
Fileserve
Then, there is the one made by JDouce without any mod.
Almost 1,5GB to download in 2 parts, and 3,5GB (as I remember) on the phone:
Part 1
Part 2
The original from zacthespack:
Link to he's thread
He works on it, and uploads new versions, so no need to place a link for the file itself.
There are 2 versions now:
Ubuntu - 1,5GB to download and 3,5GB on phone
Lubuntu - 500MB to download and 2,5GB on phone
Instructions:
1. Choose one of the images (will add more later) and download it, and get the script aswell
2. Unzip ubuntu.img and copy it and ubi.sh to your sdcard or internal storage, both files to the same folder
3. Open a terminal emulator and type:
su
Accept root permission request if appears, then type:
cd (name of the place where the files are. Example: cd /sdcard)
You can check if the files are there by typing „ls”. If everything is fine, than type:
sh ubi.sh
like this:
and if everything is fine you get this:
4.Open a VNC client and fill out the following
password: ubuntu
address: localhost
port: 5900
set colors to 24bit
5. Hit Connect button
6. Now you should set the "mouse"
touch Menu button
Input mode
Touchpad
Turning it off:
In the VNC client:
touch Menu button
Disconnect
In the terminal emulator:
touch Menu button
Close window
accept it
You can add, delete programs in Synaptic.
If you want to start Lubuntu/Ubuntu anytime, just do the 3rd and 4th steps ; )
I didn't do much. I just made some small changes. All the credits go to zacthespack, JDouce and fire314.
I know, that JDouce has a thread, but he doesn't do much nowadays. He edited the OP more than 5 months ago. And I think it's such a fun, that it deserves some more attention.
Troubleshooting:
If it doesn't start after step 4, or your phone reboots after step 3:

I am looking for a way to get Asus Transformer Prime capable of developing Android Apps, so it might not just be funny, but also very useful
I did try to see if I could make my SGS2 dual boot, but it did not work for me so far. And I am not sure I would want this as the phones OS, although it is temping if it can also use one of those Android App players that seems to be in development. I am not sure if they are even trying to target Linux though.
But the possiblities of Linux on Android hardware is.... mindbogging

Android on tablet Trekstor Surftab Wintron 7.0

Hi everyone,
i have a Trekstor Surftab Wintron 7.0 which mounts an Intel Atom Z3735G and 1GB ram and runs Windows 10 Home 32bit. it works quite good for just 50€ that i spent to buy it, but i think that it can do more, specially because apps from the Microsoft Store are not so much, and using the tablet without the "tablet mode" is quite difficult because the screen is too small and buttons hard to press.
Standing at the specs I can see it has the same hardware of the Trekstor SurfTab xintron i 7.0, but it comes with Android on it.
What i want to do is to get the image of the internal flash of a Xintron and write it in my Wintron.
Thanks to xblax i have the following partitions img files in different files:
-boot
-bootloader
-fastboot
-oem
-recovery
-system
After many attemps i was able to boot the Ubuntu Live USB and using the DISK application, I formatted the disk according to the partition table always from xblax and i flashed the partitions IMG files.
Anyway now I am stuck because because the bootloadet.img seems to have a 64bit bootloader in it.
The Intel Atom Z3735G processor is 64bit, but I am pretty sure the UEFI is locked to boot only 32 bit systems.
any hint please?
Can anybody help me? I'm not a Linux expert, so I just want to know how to write an IMG partition taken from a device on another device (that is basically the same) and boot it.
I am pretty sure it could boot so i think i just need some basic info

i couldn't find it in Italy it seems to be available only in Germany, and my final objective is to have a dual boot Win10/Android
Have you tried Refind Boot manager?
Not yet, i'll give it a try and let you know
So, i tried the flashdrive IMG but in the boot menu I don't see any choice.
But after a few tries I found that if I rename the bootx64.efi file in bootia32.efi refind finds something

Yep!! I'm waiting for it!
Let's see if it will work!
Finally the Beta came, it looks great but... I am experiencing some hardware issues.
First of all the touchscreen. It works, but seems that it is not calibrated properly, making it impossible to use without a mouse. Than also the audio, Bluetooth, battery monitor and many other things are not working at all
I read that there should be the possibility to calibrate the touchscreen but I didn't find any solution...
Suggestions?
Hello Niddu,
I am also intersted in running android on the wintron 7.
Did yout get success in running the Xintron images on the Wintron, or have you got some other Solution?
Thanks and greetings from Germany.
Hi, unfortunately i had no clue because of my lack of knowledge in Linux.
Anyway I suggest you to spend some time on trying to make RemixOS Beta 32bit working.
I actually don't know how to compile a kernel, but if you can do it you can try to integrate the missing drivers.
With the official release the touch screen is working but is not calibrated properly and that's the main problem because without it you need to connect an external mouse/keyboard without the possibilty to keep the tablet in charge.
Anyway sound, bluetooth, battery management and power and volume keys are not working.
If somebody is able to make it work I'll be glad to help them!!
Now i had Success in running Android x86 4.4 on it.
The Touchscreen is working very well, but the three soft buttons for back home and recent are not working?
Bluetooth, adjust screen lightning and sound are not working
Great! Can you link the release are you using? If someone could explain how to add drivers to an existing android image that could be a good starting point!
I just tested the version that I guess you are using but I have the same result on the touch I had using remix OS.
I'll try to explain you better with images.
Keeping the tablet in portrait mode lets analyse first of all the Y axis.
Clicking on the upper part of the screen it results aligned on the 0 of the y axis.
But if I click in the lower part it not calibrated
Analysing the X, the left side of the screen is not really aligned
While on the right it is almost OK.
Last one is the "windows" key. When I press it, a touch is simulated on the screen in an area that is not covered by the touchscreen
Is there anyone able to guide me in the calibration of the screen?
Hello Niddu,
i used android-x86-4.4-r5 : ....android-x86.org/releases/releasenote-4-4-r5...
It themes that there are different Versions of the Tablet out there.
I have the ST70416-6 / Windows 10 Version.
When i start the Android Live image, the Calibration screen appeares automatically and after Calibration it workes like i saied befor.
I also have a ST70416-6 Win 10, but when i launch the live Image of the same version of your it does not ask me for touch calibration. Can you post me a picture of how this calibration is?
android on wintron 7.0
Hello guys, I also have a ST70416-6, trying to find a way to install android on it. Did u get lucky?
Thanks,

Trekstor Wintron 7 touchscreen driver
Hello everybody,
I had success building a touchscreen driver for the ST70416-6 version. The driver that is used in Android x86 is the gsl-firmware: github.com/onitake/gsl-firmware
I used the original driver from Trekstor (SileadTouch.fw) to build a Linux driver using the firmware tool:
./unscramble SileadTouch.fw firmware.fw
./fwtool -c firmware.fw -m 1680 -w 900 -h 600 -t 5 -f track silead_ts.fw.
After that I pasted the silead_ts.fw in system/lib/firmware in Android x86 that i have installed on my sdcard. Now the Touchscreen works quite good.
The Android x86 version I used is the latest android-x86_64-6.0-rc1.iso.
Unfortunately sound, battery, camera and bluetooth are still not working. The sound chip seems to be a ALC5642 which is still not supported by Linux.
The gyrosensor is working but the axis are inverted so that it is unusable. Has anyone an idea how to swap the axis of the gyro.
Link to firmware: dropbox.com/s/bce8bc6zu3gc0g4/silead_ts.fw?dl=0
Unfortunately I´m not allowed to post a link because I´m a new member , so you have to paste a http www before the two links.
Hello, im back
Sry for the long time, i got my second son and many, many positive trouble with family and so on
Sry nidu for not sharing that screenshots.
I tried Merlins guide to build an own driver and it is working.... thank you very much
I tried it with Android x86 6.0 rc and maybe with a very slow usb drive touch is working but all react very slow, i will try it with android 4.4 and other usb drive tomorrow.

Im a tad bit disappointing no one has any replied as where to look or give any input to my problem some of us are not android gurus and so far i have spent 3 solid days trying to find out as much as possible to solve my problem. Anyhow be assured once i do crack this i shell do a complete guide for this for these boards and list all firmware links ect ect
UPDATE SO FAR
So iv been digging about digging around and yet still nothing on the firmware side of things but i have found the board make model which is
SunChip AD-Z05 V4.1 and the device is EL-1851AIO 18.5" screen
I have checked the site for firmware which has come up blank also the seller site of the device its self no firmware there ether but now i have better leads i might (fingers crossed) find it somewhere. I will keep this post updated as i go
anyone who has any idea's to this feel free to comment or message me.

Hello,
i have the same thing like you. But im not a developer. Do you have any update about links to ROM or something? Many thanks.
Don't know if anyone still cares or is tinkering around with this, but I came into possession of a touchscreen display board with the AD-Z05 SoC ARM board.
For everyone's info, the AD-Z05 is made by SunChip and designed to be used by OEMs for various things. If you've ever tried hunting down info about it like I did, you'll find very little documentation about it besides this board overview:
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Note the "Update" button, located next to the power jack. This is our key to getting into the recovery environment. I haven't found a consistent method for getting it to work, but what seems to work most of the time is holding down the update button, connecting the power source, pressing the Power On/Off button, then waiting until the default android recovery screen is up (should only take about 10 seconds tops.)
From this point, I'm stumped on what to do. ADB reports that the device is in recovery mode, I can get a basic shell and browse the ROM, even finding some factory test binaries, but that's about it. This wiki deals with the Rockchip CPUs and has some useful utilites, but the RkDevTool reports that my CPU doesn't match whatever ID it's expecting. Trying to reboot into fastboot or this "maskrom" mode freezes the utility. I've tried reaching out to the manufacturer to see if they have any documentation, I'll post back if I find anything.
Edit: Also see the official Rockchip wiki.

Also, maybe this information about maskrom mode from https://wiki.t-firefly.com/en/Firefly-RK3288/upgrade_table.html
Focus on: In Windows, When Linux upgrade to the Android5.1, how to enter Maskrom Mode:
Steps are as follows:
In AndroidTool_v2.58, click “Erase Flash”, this step is erase IDB, it can’t erase flash, so it will appear “erase flash failed”;
Reboot, in AndroidTool_v2.35, click “Erase Flash”, when it finish, the board will enter Maskrom Mode;
Click “Upgrade” to start burn the Android5.1 firmware.
Sorry if this is not helpful at all. Please keep us updated.
Thank you for the info, @jimlarson77! Did you happen to see any steps for backing up the flash before erasing?
I did hear back from SunChip:
Sunchip is one of Apple's provider. We are professional manufacturer and designer of LCD digital signage which established in 2012,we have more than 80 engineers focus on Android mainboard's software and hardware R & D, commercial media player/box(support Android and Linux OS), also provide SKD parts for LCD digital signage.

I did not see any steps for backing up the flash before erasing. I attempted to flash firefly firmware(through the complete steps listed in that last link I sent about Maskrom, and everything went perfectly until the firmware was flashed. Now the board I tried it on won't power on(I'm aware now that the firmware was not the correct one).
If you would like to run some tests with a functional or non-functional board, I could let you play around with a few that I have.
Thank you for the offer @jimlarson77. My curiosity is only from an amerature hobbyist perspective; I'm curious if I can get my digital sign working and flashed, but otherwise I will just try to part it out.
