Connect it to your PC with a USB cable, and make sure the ActiveSync partnership is working (ie, you can browse the phone from within My Computer).
Now head into the Start Menu on your TG01 and click "Internet Sharing". Make sure the PC Connection is set to USB, and the Network Connection is set to your Mobile Network. Hit the Connect button at the bottom.
That's it

Thanks, for your time, but is the way to connect with pc wireless i meant (and i dont want connect bluetooth) so i just wanna know the way to use my tg01 as wifi router.

perhaps with the program called 'wifi router' ?

google might help you out finding another program if that doesn't work. but that's not for free.
best regards

help req, Fao: anyone using ameo for usb internet sharing

hi Guys ,
I come to you as a friend in need, I have a serious problem bwith the internet sharing on my ameo, as you can see I am on it now typing this, but I can't for the life of me get it to share the connection, I don't have a bluetooth dongle for it, so its usb all the way, here is what happens:
my pc running windows xp doesn't have a modem attached, only thing connected to it network wise is my playstation 3, I don't have the interet at home, hence wanting to use the ameo for the connection.
plug the ameo in, bink active sync goes on, leave it to sync, then I have tried a couple of things to no avail, just hitting internet sharing then, ameo dumps the usb connection then restarts it, nadda no I-net explorer, nothing pinging
I have tried starting the sharer before connection the usb lead nadda,
is there a set of setup needs I am blatantly missing? everyone seems to jus say they plug it in and it works, but I can't seem to get over this hurdle.
perhaps its simply a network setting on windows?
Can anyone thinks they can help suggest something I am doing wrong? even if it sounds obvious to u I might just be missing something simple
ps I am running pk dual touch
Many thanks in advance
Peter
hmm, just did a soft reset and now its working....hmm...
would still like to know what caused it, i turned off advanced usb features could that have made it start working?
whats that for anyways?
Peter
I get this sometimes, the ameo acts as a DHCP server and assigns the computer an IP addy, sometime however it does not assign an addy and so there can be no data transfer !! a simple reset of the ameo appears to sort it every time !!
i always found that the modem link, Wireless modem and Internet sharing applications always worked better if you activate them BEFORE connecting the USB cable.
Either that or the dodgy power supply on my USB hub is causing the problem!!! :-D

I completely agree, connecting the service before connecting the USB is much more reliable
PS did you guys know that we aren`t supposed to be able to do this, apparently to connect to your laptop you are supposed to use web and walk pro at £12.50 per month not just web and walk my mate can`t do this through his nokia cos it does not support internet connection sharing
well this problem happened to me today..what i did was right click my network places and disabled the LAN.coz win xp was choosing my LAN as default.once i disabled it it chose my athena and wala i got internet sharing.hth

Thanks, but this tool only routes a GPRS/UMTS connection to WiFi, but we are searching for a tool that routes WiFi through USB (to say it very short) - animelover: correct me, if I'm wrong!
But nevertheless: Thank you!

welll, this enables ur neo as "Access Point" for other wifi enable devices and they will use ur data plan ( on ur device GPRS/UMTS) via it, ultimatly u have to use a wifi dongle ( i dont know whether such thing exist) to access net on PC.

Did you guys found an answer for that? See if it is the same as my question: I have a notebook with internet (cable) and I want to use my cell phone as a router, to conect another computer via wireless. Is it right?
http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=453&more=1
see if it helps
This is exactly the sort of thing I would like to do. All the solutions to date use the Internet sharing directed over the GPRS but not the WIFI if available. I would be happy to connect to it via active sync or bluetooth (the former probably being easier).
Hope somebody finds a tool or a hack to do it as this would be a great addition to the Prophets functionality.

internet through a PC/Laptop

can Hero get on internet through a PC/Laptop with a usb cable?
I know wm allows you to do so.
I used to enjoy that function when i used a wm device because I do not have wifi in both home and office. And I have only a limited data plan.
Help/answer appreciated.
Try PDAnet

I think the OP wants something that works the other way - i.e. the phone connects to the internet via the PCs network connection.

Thanks skauk, but Dave is right. I want the other way round.
PC/Laptop connecting to internet via my Hero (mobile network sharing) can be done without any software i believe.
But in fact I want the phone to go to internet via PC/Laptop as I only have limited data plan.
Help is appreciated.
Nice font color
I don't think you can do this via a USB cable.
What does work is: Get a wireless access point and have your desktop share its internet connection over wlan. Better usability than a plugged in USB cable, too

Do you mean use the Hero "tethered" as a modem for the computer? If so the answer (at least for UK Heros) is yes.
First of all make sure you have HTC Sync on your computer. Then do the following:
1 Make sure your phone’s data connection is turned on.
2. Connect the phone to the computer using the USB cable.
3. Press HOME > MENU, and then tap Settings > Wireless controls.
4. Select the Mobile network sharing check box.
@peterc10, I think the OP means the opposite (ie. tethering the Hero to a computer via USB), but I'm not sure.
Certainly, putting it on your wireless network (or getting one) would be an easier option, and it wouldn't require any cables. As a bonus, you can use your home internet from all round the house with the device.
@schlagg, any reason the wireless suggestion wouldn't work. Personally, I think it would be a lot easier to set up.

I wasn't sure either, hence my first question. I don't know whether you can do it the other way around, and I have wifi at home so don't need to anyway.
I guess we will have to wait for the OP to tell us which they meant.

just being curious
my wifi connection works well ...
but sometimes, i manage to go to some friends who don't have wifi
with my previous winmo, it was possible without any configuration, so just wondering if its the same here
i was actually wondering about the same thing..i dont have a wifi router and i dont think i'll be getting one soon anw since it wont "work" on my house... we have multiple floors and we prefer cables kinda
anw can i access the internet through USB?
No, this is not possible. The USB hardware in the Hero is that of a USB Slave (or USB Device, like a printer or camera.) In order for it to get internet access from this port, it would have to be set up as a USB Host, like your computer is. If you 'adb shell' into your phone and run "ls /dev/" you won't see any USB devices there.
If I'm wrong, I apologize, but I'm 99% sure this is the case.
EDIT: I think the best option would be to get a USB Bluetooth dongle for your computer. You can get one for like $15. Maybe less.

Nope. Quote from manual
"The phone supports the following Bluetooth profiles: Headset, Handsfree, A2DP, and AVRCP."
AFAIK none of those will enable you to use the computer as a modem. The first two are self explanatory. A2DP allows movement of stereo music files. AVRCP stands for "Audio/Video Remote Control Profile" which allows your phone to act as a remote control

[Q] Connect GT9100 to Internet through PC

Hello guys,
I'm sorry if the reply to my question was already posted by I was unable to find it here or through google search.
I'm new to the Android world so this might be very easy to achieve although I was unable to find it.
I'm trying to connect my SGS2 stock KE7 to the internet through my PC. I wanted to connect the phone with the data cable to a usb port on my laptop and then route all the traffic. I went through the options but couldn't find anythign that could achieve this.
Can someone, please, give me some pointers?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Just go in to wi-fi settings and set up a hotspot. Your phone now works as a "wireless router/modem" and your computer should detect your wi-fi hotspot created by the phone
I thought Wifi/usb Tethering was to allow other devices to connect to the internet through your phone.
computer -> phone -> internet
And I want to achieve the opposite, Connecting to the internet with my phone by going through a laptop/workstation.
phone -> computer -> internet

This is a bit off-topic, and I may have misunderstood your question, but this might be what you are looking to do -
1. Setup your computer in wifi adhoc sharing mode, so that any other wireless device can find that network.
2. Use your phone as the wifi device to connect to that network.
This is pretty easy - just setup a wifi network.
Many videos available on youtube -
Again, this is just one way of doing what I think you want to do-

Don't think that you can use the network over the usb cable it is not designed for that, may be someone else may know a bit more.
Theoretically a proxy agent app on pc should be able to do what you want above, over the usb cable, but it is better to use a wireless modem instead.

Ok, thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I often find myself in the situation where I do not have phone signal or wireless available :-/
Maybe I should invest in a wireless access point to carry around with me!
Yeah, it's a pity. There are a couple of scenarios where this would be useful for me.
Thanks anyway for replying to my question.
AFAIK this a HTC sense only feature as i remember having this on my HTC desire
What I use is an Edimax Wireless USB adapter - EW-7711UAn. The hardware works really well, the software works well once it is set-up, but configuring XP to share its network connection through this is a bit tricky
This may help, I am sure there is similar for Vista Windows 7 around on the Internet

This might help you out guys!
Heres the explanation of how to do it (sorry it's in Portuguese, but google translator will do the trick!
