Instructions on how to flash ROM - Touch Cruise 2 ROM Development

Hello,
I was searching the forums for a guide on how to flash my Touch Cruise II but could not find a solid guide.
I did find some information but i'm not sure if the following is correct.
- I downloaded the ROM (nbh file)
- Downloaded the Hard-SPL Unlocker
- Downloaded a (non-ID???) RUU
As far as i can see i should do the following:
- Connect the phone to my notebook using ActiveSync (or WMDC)
- Start the Hard-SPL application
- Put the .nbh file in the same folder as the RUU application
- Start the RUU application and follow the instructions
Is the above correct? I really don't want to goof up my phone.
thanks!

You can try the easy way:
First of all, make sure you have Hard-SPL installed on your phone!
1. - Make sure your MicroSD card is formatted in FAT32;
2. - Copy the IOLIIMG.nbh file to the ROOT of your card;
3. - Power down your phone and WHILE PRESSING VOLUME DOWN, press Reset and power it back on;
4. - Follow the on-screen instructions.

First of all, thanks for your reply!
I don't understand the following:
you say:
First of all, make sure you have Hard-SPL installed on your phone!
Click to collapse
But when I start the HARD-SPL application on my notebook it starts without any questions or errors
It seems it's a valid win32 application and not written for my phone.
Attached you'll find a screenshot of the application.
EDIT: By "installed on your phone" you mean installing the bootloader from my notebook instead of installing from the phone. right?

Receiving Error 011: in trying to unlock XDA1

I've been trying for several weeks now to unlock my XDA1 Wallaby without success. Some members have tried to help but no joy. In trying to load the Special Edition ROM I get the Error 011 message per the attached screen grab. Can anyone tell me why this is occurring and what the solution is? My current device ROM is version 4.01.16ENG, Radio Version 6.25.02, Protocol version 32e4.
Any help with this frustrating issue would be much appreciated. Willing to make a phone call if you can help. Thanks.
It´s a very easy solution.
Your installed ROM prohibits flashing via Exe....
Extract the special Edition ROM with winzip or anything else. You got an folder called English. In this folder is a file NK.nbf with about 32 MB. This File you will need for flashing via SD-Card.
Instructions how to flash via SD could be found here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Wallaby_HT_FlashSD
Here
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Wallaby_HT_Unlock2
are complete instructions what you have to to to unlock your device.
Step 6 is not a must. If you get an error Message you should be able to process without downgrading the bootloader....
Stefan
Stefan,
Thanks for your response. I followed the instructions you pointed me to but they are a little unclear. I first copied the ROM image to my SD Card while in my device (I later assumed the instructions meant to write the ROM image to the SD Card via a card reader, which I don't have).
After downloading to the SD Card in my device I held the power button and soft reset which displayed on screen the message:
SD DOWNLOAD
Card Type:
CE OS & BOOT
Press action to Download
Or
Press REC to Exit
However, nothing happens in touching ACTION on the screen to download. What do I do?
Thanks, David
Don´t know, what you are meaning with "touching ACTION" put you have to press the center of the navigation button on your device to start installation.....
Using the XDA-SD-Slot is also ok. You just have problems if anythhing went wrong, and you don´t have access to this slot any more....
Stefan
Stefan,
Thanks for your reply. I've sent a response to your personal email address.

Application unlock for HTC Monet (Virgin Lobster 700tv)

Been trying everything on the Internet and managed to make some headway with Monet (Virgin Lobster 700tv) unlock (this might work for Meteor/C700 as well).
1. Firstly you need to get rid of the 'registry security policy' lock.
Download cert install sp.zip:
[see attachment]
a. copy "SP_AllowCertificateInstall.cab" to the root of Monet memory or card
b. Use file explorer on monet to navigate to file. Click to run. Should run ok.
c. Unzip "SDA_ApplicationUnlock.zip" on PC and run "SDA_ApplicationUnlock.exe" whilst Monet is connected via activesync
2. Copy registry editor onto Monet. I used PHM, but others should work. Note install PHM loader on PC whilst monet is connected via activesync. It might install correctly on Monet, it might not. This does not matter. Just navigate on your PC to Program Files\phm and find the .exe file and copy to root of Monet memory or card.
Also nice free remote registry editor here (works from PC whilst phone is connected via activesync):
http://www.breaksoft.com/Blog/Utilities/2005/1/Mobile_Registry_Editor.aspx
Excellent 'free' combined file explorer and registry editor (perhaps for later - after app. unlock) SGS:
http://www.handango.com/PlatformPro...925777&Ntt=registry&productId=195244&R=195244
3. Using phm (or the registry app you like) change the four keys specified in this guide (you might find the above process has already reset 1001 and 101b:
http://wiki.spv-developers.com/HTC_Application_Unlock_Guide
They are:
Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Policies\Policies:
a. Change the DWORD named "1001" to 1 (could originally be 2)
b. Change the DWORD named "1005" to 40 (could originally be 16)
c. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Policies\Policies\0000 1017 = 128 or 16 (before) 144 (after)
d. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Policies\Policies\0000 101b = 1 (this key might not exist, if so, create it).
4. Restart
5. HOORAY. Now your phone is fully application unlocked.
-----the following procedure is to SIM Unlock, this currently does not work. Possibly spv-services will be updated at some time to work with the Monet---->
6. Now download spv_services:
http://www.spv-developers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=236
a. copy the cert.cab file to you Monet. Select and run using File explorer. it should run fine.
b. Next step. Run SPV_services from PC whilst phone still connected via Activesync. Should unlock ..... however I get checksum error....
Will investigate. Anyone have any luck please say. At least we can now get the phone app.unlocked.
------------------------->
Note: I have read that the phone might again become app.locked if you do a hard reset. If this is the case, just follow the above again.

SPV-Services needs to access the internet.
A php is an active type of web page.
It would appear that there is something blocking it from access the internet. Most probably a firewall on your PC, either the internal windows one, or a 3rd party package you have installed. You need to check this.
If its for the Monet I wouldn't bother anyhow as SPV-Services can not currently SIMunlock this phone.

1st thing i checked was the firewall..
i know wat a php is i run a phpbb forum and yea it is a Monet (lobster 700)..
shame ( i really need to unlock the networks on it ) i have an O2 sim and wen i put it in it askes for a network unlock code.. if only i had that code.. any idea how to obtain it?
the only way currently is to use virgin or a commercial service
If you put at least £30 of talk time on your virgin account, they will send you the unlock code for free.
Otherwise search google or this forum for a commercial unlocking service.

Application Unlock for HTC Monet
Hi colonel
I have been trying in vain to do an application unlock on my Lobster 700tv. I have managed to install and run the "SP_AllowCertificateInstall.cab" which went ok. The "SDA_ApplicationUnlock.exe" also ran ok. However, running PHM required a copy to be placed on the Monet which I did. Attempting to run the "setup.exe", gave the following message:
"ALERT: Setup is Not a Valid Windows CE Application"
Because of this, I attempted to change the registry keys using "Mobile Registry Editor.exe" which seemed to do the job. However, applications still wont work (I'm trying to install TomTom Navigator 6).
I have since managed to load and run "MobileRegistryEditor.exe" on my phone without problems but I still cannot get TomTom Navigator 6 to run, although it loads onto the storage card ok.
Please can you help?

leadweight

Lobster headache
Hi bocsta
I had problems to start with but I had failed to read colonel's instructions correctly. I couldn't get PHM to run on my phone so I tried some of colonel's other suggestions. I found that "SGS Explorer" did load ok and I used its registry editor to change the registry keys as listed. I am assuming that my phone is now unlocked but TomTom Navigator 6 will not run.
Can someone please help before I throw my lobster back in the sea?

All you have to do is download and install the Ext Rom cabs manually. This may still be available on the ftp. If not PM me.
It worked for me
Thanks a lot ercave1, the ROM flashed flawlessly, however the EXT ROM didn´t came up by itself. The features I´m missing are as follows:
1.- USB switch to select activesync mode to serial or RNDIS is missing, regardless this USB sync to PC (Activesync 4.5) is alive and working well.
2.- ClearVue pdf is missing, not a big loss and I really don´t care since there´s another alternatives to read and diisplay pdf documents.
3.- GetGood and in general all connection settings! I don´t give a s**t!!
4.- MIDlet Manager, big loss... I´m going to keep trying to download Risidoro_Intent_MIDlet_ Manager_V11 whenever the ftp be up and running again. So no worries.
5.- Voice Speed Dialing Settings icon in both the Program ans Setting screens are missing, however the software is running when I press the known VSD button.
6.- Cingular carrierlogo! I don´t care I have my own logo.
And I guess that´s it !
Regardless the comments above, I´d like to learn how to "extract" the correspondent EXT ROM cab files, if you guys have and advice on it would be great.
Thanks again ercave1 for the big help

Yes, this is because the Ext Rom was wiped out by the G3 Rom having been flashed on your G4 devices. I don't remember reading about a fix for this, but you may want to search through the forum. The only solution I'm aware of is to install the Ext Rom manually.
I'm glad you guys got the device running again.

Already many know that mun built Shell Of tool, which was capable of pouring axis into Wizard G4 with [lochennym] [Sidom], but to the enormous regret it does not know how to pour with [ekstrom].
Recently it decided to be played a little with the program of nb2nbf and to verify, is it possible by nevertheless any means to renew also Extended Of rom to CID-Locked apparatuses. And which there was my happiness, when I revealed after [pereproshivki] that he renewed.
It decided by the same method to try to flood Splash Of screen and HTC Of logo - everything proved to be very simply.
In view of the small quantity of information on the forum on [devaysu] Of wizard G4, it decided to build brief instruction on its [pereproshivke].
1. We stitch through apparatus by pure piercing - Wizard_Love_2.26.10.2_WWE_Novii+CF2.
http://rapidshare.com/files/8651097/Wizard...E_Novii_CF2.rar
2. By the program of typho5 we unpack nbf the file of piercing, which we desire to pour into the beast.
First we fill up into the folder with the program of nbf, and then start with the parameter of typho5.exe - x nk.nbf. After procedure we obtain several files, in number of which is contained OS itself, Extended Of rom, and also as a rule Splash Of screen and HTC Of logo.
([ZY]. For convenience in the use of program made [batnik]. Simply you will place nbf into the folder and will neglect typho.bat)
3. Now we gather our nbf file, each at will can include any desired components in it, naturally, except axis itself.
4. We go in very [progu] of nb2nbf and we make the following tuning:
- We establish Model ID: WIZARD
Language: it is empty
OEM: it is empty
Operator of version: it is empty
CID: it is empty ([ochen]_[vazhno]); remove the numbers, which are contained inside the field
- We establish [galochku] opposite “File of # 1”, we click on the button of survey (button with three points), we find the file Of extended Of rom' and (in the folder of typho5, the exemplary name of 9b000000-Extension.nb)
- In the field “Of start Of address” we enter 9b00000
- In the field “Of image Of name” we enter Extension Of rom (not Extended Of rom, you be attentive!!!)
- In the point “Of file of # 2” we find Splash Of screen, in the field of address we enter 92000000, in the field “of image of name” we write Splash Of screen.
- In the point “Of file of # 3” we find HTC Of logo, in the field of address we write 9d000000, in the field “of image of name” we write WITH HTC Of logo.
- We press button “Translate”
- Extended ROM is ready, it is possible to stitch through.
Unnecessary for you files it is possible simply not to include, but to insert, for example, only one by [ekstrom].
5. We place the obtained file of nbf into the folder [proshivalshchikom] and start. Procedure as with the usual piercing, lasts in all the pair of minutes.
6. We pour the axis Of shell Of tool' ohm from mun' of a.
Finale - valuable piercing

I enumerated the options since each have its own reason
1- Use Winrar to open RUU.exe and use typhoonnbfdecode.pl to extract the 10MB file (0xA00000 bytes) of the extended rom from nk.nbf
2- oops, same as 1 (and its nk.nbf- not nk.nba). hehe, my mistake
3- use pdocread.exe to read BDTL1 - or TRUEFFS_DOC1 (use my Wizard Service Tool as it can be done with a few clicks )
4- Unhide extended_rom and use Active Sync to copy the files to PC (or, once again use my tool to do the same )
cheers
Sounds great to me!

Can only access to tri colour after upgrading failure.

Hi All,
My CHT9000 can only access tri colour after upgrading failure right now.
Before upgrading to Hard-SPL-V7, already verified that the HTC_boot is 0180 and already grabbed supercid. However after clicking "upgrade" button, it displayed "connection error [260]" after a couple of minutes.Currently I can only access to tri colour interface with following information:
IPL is :IPL-1.01
SPL is :SPL-1.40.OLIPRO
Tried another laptop and alternative USB connection cable, still same.
Any thoughts and inputs will be appreciate.
Try flashing with a shipped/original ROM and see.

Carty..
Thanks Carty for your reply.
I searched and got following instructions from the forum. A little bit confusion of step6 .Since I can only access to tri-color screen. How can I run sspl-hrm.exe on the phone?
Thanks in advance.
1. download hardspl v7 from the first post.
2. extract ruu_signed.nbh and rename it to HERMIMG.nbh
3. copy it to a microsd card, make sure the card is formatted as fat32
4. download sspl-herm from here
5. extract SSPL-HERM.exe and copy it to your phone.
6. insert sd card and run sspl-herm.exe on the phone.
7. you should see the tri-color screen and then it should change to this
8. press power button to start flashing
9. reset when you get the msg that its done.
Hi phoebe0616,
before you try all that stuff, please check this first:
1. Grab the tool mtty and put it on your host
2. disconnect active sync and disable all active sync connections
3. connect your device to host and open up mtty using usb connection
4. type enter once, now you are in the bootloader console
5. type: set 14 0
6. reboot
7. if you're still in bootloader after, repeat steps 3..6 but type another command: set 16 0
8. Read the wiki!!!
Regards,
scholbert
Appreciate your help, Scholbert
Will let you know the result later.

I renamed "RUU_signed.nbh" in Hard-SPL-V7 to "HERMIMG.nbh" and did exactly as the description in the article.I was able to get the confirmation that the upgrade is complete. However after softreset, it looks nothing changed, "SPL-2.10.OLIPRO" is supposed to be displayed instead of "SPL-1.40.OLIPRO". Another quite weird thing is whole flashing process took no more than 5 seconds.

Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
Hey phoebe0616,
that's really weird:
You just updated the bootloader successfully from "SPL-1.40.OLIPRO" to "SPL-2.10.OLIPRO" using the SD-card method...
Funny guy
Take a look at the filesize of this small part of software, that's why it took only 5 sec., that's totally normal
I think everything is fine with your device now, isn't it?

Hi Scholbert,
Thanks again. Yes, my guy is working pretty good right now. The only question is why the SPL is still "SPL-1.40.OLIPRO" rather than "SPL-2.10.OLIPRO".

This is because you cannot update hard spl via the sd card method on a hermes. You have to do it following the instructions. You can flash a rom or radio but not the spl.

Thanks Parleyp for your reply.
However each time when I tried to update SPL through PC by running "RUUWrapper", it failed as "Connection Error [260]". And tried two laptops and two different SPL resource and two different USB cables. Both laptops are WIN XP with SP2.

Not true... The instructions from post 6 is the sd card method to flash Hard SPL(If you don't believe me go to page116, post 1160 on the Hard SPL thread). You need to run sspl.exe using the file explorer on your hermes (it needs to be on the phone memory) not the sd card.
Also make sure the card is formatted FAT32 and 2Gb or less.
It will always be quick as the file size is small but I've done it successfully many times for both my own and friends Hermes.
Cheers...

Thank you very much, Ultramag69. You are really sharp.
It works perfectly.
Thank you all of you guys again.
Glad to hear it.
Now, if you want to flash a new rom, I'd suggest using the sd card method as I feel its safer. Just leave out the steps using SSPL.exe as you now have Hard SPL installed...
Welcome to the wonderful world or rom flashing...

HTC HD2 - Low Volume during calls

Hi All,
I have just flashed Artemis ROM in my HTC HD2.
I have found a bug (I believe), when I try to increase volume "during incoming/outgoing calls" , the phone hangs. Otherwise it works well.
Now, I am looking a "registry entry" to permanently increase volume "during incoming/outgoing calls". I am very sure this can be done through registries.
These are my phone details:

OS Version
5.2.30113 (30113.5.5.0)
Manila Version

It is easy, just download the radio version you want from here. If you have a T-Mobile HD2 like I think you do.Do not flash this "Leo_RADIO_2.07.51.22_2" that is in the list of radios in the first post of the thread as it will brick a T-Mobile HD2. Once you have your radio downloaded just follow Samsamuel's instructions from the other thread to flash via bootloader to flash the radio it is just like flasbing a ROM but it is just the radio.
Edit: Matter of fact do not flash any of tbe following radios from that thread as they all will brick a T-Mobile HD2.
Leo_RADIO_15.28.50.07U_2.05.50.11
Leo_RADIO_15.36.50.07U_2.09.51.03
Leo_RADIO_15.31.50.07U_2.07.51.05
Leo_RADIO_15.30.50.07U_2.06.51.07
Leo_RADIO_15.28.50.07U_2.05.51.05
Leo_RADIO_15.26.50.07U_2.04.50_22
Hi,
Thanks for links and replies. But I still think if something can be tweaked through resgistries why to go for fresh Radio ROM installation. It might fix this but have some other issue.
I might be wrong.
Regards,
Ankur
You should read Sir Sternas' post #1 in Artemis thread carefully.
There is written:
NOTE 4 : USE ver 5x.x GEN V (or old ver 4x.x GEN IV) ONLY with SPL 3.03.0000 and Radio 2.15.50.14 from latest stock LEO-S 3.14.
For Artemis there is no need of HSPL.
1. remove HSPL
2. download STOCK ROM 3.14 from HTC homepage by entering your serial number
3. flash downloaded STOCK ROM (this will install SPL3.03 and radio 2.15.50.14)
4. hard reset after first startup
5. flash Artemis with SSPL
6. hard reset after first startup
that's it
Freezes by changing volume level are well known by presence of HSPL1.66 or HSPL2.08 or wrong radio version caused by wrong flashing method.
EDIT: I've seen you other thread, now it is easier for me to see what's wrong.
Ignore the steps above.
1. keep HSPL3.03 installed with HSPL4.exe
2. download STOCK ROM 3.14 from here
3. download LeoAdvancedRUU from here
4. extract your downloaded STOCK ROM file with 7-zip or something similar
5. copy the RUU_signed.nbh file to the same folder where LeoAdvancedRUU is located
6. remove your SD
7. connect your HD2 with ActivSync or WindowsMobiledeviceCenter to your PC
8. run LeoAdvancedRUU as Administrator
9. choose option 2 Custom RUU and select the RUU_signed.nbh file
10. select next and confirm all following questions
11. do hard reset after first start up
12. download Artemis from its thread
13. extract the file with 7-zip or something similar
14. copy the RUU_Signed_xxxx.nbh file to the same folder where LeoAdvancedRUU is located
15. connect your HD2 with ActivSync or WindowsMobiledeviceCenter to your PC
16. run LeoAdvancedRUU as Administrator
17. choose option 1 Regular RUU and select the RUU_Signed_xxxx.nbh file
18. select next and confirm all following questions
19. do hard reset after first start up
20. Now you have functional Artemis
21. delete the folders Program Files and Application Data on your SD by using a card reader
22. insert your SD
23. done
I also installed Artemis v56 WWE. No Bug is found yet. I can volume up/down while phone call without hanging up.
If you don't flash the latest radio, you might encounter other bugs later.
