I currently run my HTC on 3 uk and dowloaded my firmware so that I can upgrade it!!
However when I completed the downgrade my Orientation is no longer working when I turn the phone. tried to re-calibrate it etc but to no avail. Has anybody got any answers on this to help me out please?
Firmware is 1.5
Build number is 2.73.405.5
Regards Ray
Sorry I meant to ask is Firmware 1.5 the latest officially from HTC?
It may be a bug in that version, to be honest if you're going to flash a new rom you probably won't have to worry about this. Worst case you flash back to the original rom which came on your phone and send it back if it's still not working.
I would carry on putting a custom rom on your phone. It will probably fix it.
did you try to wipe the rotate settings ? It's in recent recovery roms under wipe menu ...
Yes, I did wipe it when I added the 1st ROM onto my new phone. I wiped it again this morning to try to recover it. Is there anywy I can restore it?
Just to let you know the orientation is now working again after downloading NeOroM 1.2 and its update. The version is excellent and works perfect like my daughters HTC Desire 2.1 officail firmware. I think its the best youre going to get near to it until HTC releasse the official version.
Thanks again for all your help guyz !!

Coming from a WM background I am used to flash ROMs and lose more or less everything...
How does it work with a X10 moving to 2.1 ?
Will my GF phone lose everything that has been installed once it is updated ?
Thanks and sorry for the X10 newbie question

Ask again when 2.1 gets released.
Ok, let's forget about the 2.1 thing , what about from 1.6 to 1.7 ?
Did the 1.7 update start from fresh ? That will give me an idea about the future I guess
Thanks
I am supposed to install my GF new phone, and I just want to know if I should wait for the end of the month or start today

"1.7", we're all still on 1.6.
Backup the phone, as the chances are it will wipe the phone.
In answer to your question.. couple of background points first for your benefit..
the current version of android for x10 is 1.6.. we are due to move to 2.1 shortly..
however, the android version is only part of the picture.. SE have developed their own build on the top of that and there have been several versions of this Firmware since the phone was launched..
My experience.. I seem to recall the phone being reset when I went from R1FB014 to R1FB016 but when I updated to R2BA020 and more recently to 026 I was given the option by SEUS to retain current config and just update the firmware in the background..
I don't know though if the change to 2.1 will be the same because it contains some fundamental changes so a complete reset might be needed.. but I don't know for sure.. in this case, only time will tell..#
Hope that helps.
I am sure this question is going to be asked, so i am going to ask it.
Lets say that someone did update their firmware with the new hboot and new radio(1/26/2012 update), but now we needed to go back to an " out of the box unrooted stock state ".
I know about the main version thing, and that does not affect me atm, and a little reluctant to move forward with a newer main version yet even i know it can be fixed.
I have not upgraded anything as of yet btw.
I am wondering if the
RUU_Vigor_VERIZON_WWE_1.02.605.6_Radio_RS_0.95.00.1013r_3161E_9K_NV_8k_1.12_9k_1.83_V_APT_release_221502_signed.exe
method will work to return your phone to that condition after the 1/26/2012 ota/firmware update?
Or will that not work because if one did the OTA/firmware update the main version will change, forcing you to change the main version back to 605.6 ?
Does new hboot prevent any older RUUs from being applied regardless if main version was changed back to an older one?
Thank You in Advance

I guess I have the same questions.
I've got my third Rezound coming in the mail, since i've been having issues with people not being able to hear me periodically on the other end.
I have the newest OTA, and I guess i'll need to put this thing back in a RUU if possible (unroot, relocked, etc).
I hope someone can answer. Gotta figure a way to get this baby unrooted and stock.
They just put up the newest RUU , which was for the OTA in the vigor collection on the development forum so just run that one and you will be good to go
Hello,
I have a Sony Xperia S model running currently on Gingerbread version and the ICS update is now available in my country (India) too. After reading all the pros and cons with it Ive decided to go ahead with upgrading.
But,i also came across a suggestion which asked me to 'wipe' the phone completely and 'flash' it before updating. These terms are new for me and i would very much appreciate it if someone could tell me what exactly does this mean and how do i go about doing it.Thanks in advance.
P.S - I do NOT want to root my phone or do anything that devoids the default warranty period however.Just saying.
Edit : Ok,iam seriously confused now.Just read somewhere a 'full wipe' means erasing everything from your phone, except for the Clockwork mod and download mod.Does this mean i wont be able to upgrate to ICS after the full wipe ?! :S Help needed and ASAP please.
you can upgrade it officially thru Sony pc companion, Sony website, or over the air that's provided by your carrier. the terms flashing or clockwork are options for users who have rooted their phone as they cannot update officially anymore without going back to a locked bootloader. so since the update is available in your country, you can do it officially thru the methods mentioned above. you don't have to root.
Hello!
Im stuck! have been using this phone for a while, when , official ICS update showed up. Ofcourse i instaled it, and few more official updates.
But phone feels kinda lagy, so i wanted downgrade back to GB, but i cant install eny rom, have tried difrent official Gb roms, ICS roms, but nothing!
And since my FW version is B928 i cant root it, via changing the recovery img...
Any suggestions? realy wana go back to GB
Thanks!
Sorry for bad english!
I cannot downgrade to GB either. It sais update unsuccesful.. However you could probably do it though, by first bricking your phone and then installing GB doing a force update (actually downgrade ). That's what once worked for me. found it out randomly.. But it's tricky: To do this, you must try to update your phone to another firmware; let's say another version of ICS, found on the Huawei site. And at the end of the update you're phone will try to reboot. While this is happening, the screen of ur phone will show the huawei logo as well as the android logo, one by one. When you see this, quickly take out the battery of your huawei. And then, when you put it back in, you'll see that ur huawei is bricked. Now, perform your force update with GB, found on the huawei site. This time it shouldn't fail!

Root your u8860 and edit the recovery.img. Your device will not be able to boot up. Put the gingerbread rom into your sdcard and then flash it with the three button trick
It is very risky and i dont recommend you to try it
Although i did it accidentally for my device
Hi Everyone:
I am so new to the development world. simple question:
I have managed to unlock the bootloader and root My HTC one.
How am I going to do software update later when AT&T release new one for the device? (I Know they are going to have the fixes for multiple bugs, like camera improvement, back and home button sensitivity issue, battery life, etc ).
will I loose the root after the update, or I can not even do update through OTA since I unlocked the bootloader?
will whatever way for the approaching wipes the data and apps?
How will it work? hope someone can answer my questions, thank you in advance!!
since you unlock the bootloader, you can not recived the OTA notification maybe.
I am in europe and I have to check for the update manually. I rooted the device and it is working fine. I tired to install the latest HTC software update (1.29.401.12) but it failed. It restarts the device and boots into TWRP.
Appreciate some insight.

I wouldn't worry about ota updates ever again. Every time an ota is released someone puts out a stock rooted rom you can flash via custom recovery.
