Can't push flash image help but recovery works - Droid Eris Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

errr... what are you trying to flash?
If you're getting a sig check try downloading the file again (I assume you're attempting to flash a .zip update of some sort from a custom recovery).
Make sure the file you are attempting to flash is flashable, a while ago I spent a good 1/2 hour searching for info on why the OC patch failed the signature checks, it turns out I had downloaded the zimage instead of the flashable update.

Sorry let me explain I has a Eris I just put the root 2.1 file on it and bootloaded it and it was successful then I moved to the next step install the recovery with a adb push and that worked when I tried mounting and pushing the flash_image not go any suggestions

Make sure the phone is in "charge only" mode. Do not mount the SD card.

I'll double check

follow these directions
Code:
III: Flashing a Custom Recovery
Flashing a custom recovery will make your life easier when flashing ROMs in the future.
1. Download the Recovery file from down below.
2. Move the recovery.img file to your \tools\ directory of your Android SDK.
3. Open up a command prompt and go to your tools directory, and execute these commands:
WINDOWS USERS
From your tools directory in the sdk do the following command
adb reboot bootloader
You will have FASTBOOT highlighted in red like it is here
Now on your computer do the following
Fastboot flash recovery recovery-RA-eris-v1.6.2.img
Just modify the commands to match the names of your files.
its a lot easier to flash through fastboot.

I'm having problems with the flash_image

Not to be a jerk, but how do you have 243 posts and not understand the "search" function? There are like 5011 threads about this EXACT subject already. You can either download the 2.1 update file from HTC, or, if you have truly sent your phone back to completely stock, the OTA should show up in a while. You can also "Check for Updates" from the settings menu. That worked for me the last time I took one back to stock.
Settings > About Phone > Check for Updates. That should give you the 2.1 OTA if my understanding is correct that you are on 1.5 stock.

Boot into fastboot by holding down the red and green buttons first and then do that command. Or not. I don't know.
Check the tools folder to make sure it has fastboot. I know the windows sdk has it but it may be a seperate dl for Mac

if your fastbooting stock recovery on your phone put it in the tools folder of adb
and then fastboot, it will send it to the phone and then flash, hope this helps.
What am I supposed be looking at I used these instructions and I got the error following them

I did that's why I'm confused
Read this post and see if this will help, I believe I used this RUU with driver to unroot my phone.
If I remember correctly it also gives you the s-on bootloader

I really need help!!! How do I get a recovery on my phone after s-off? And without SU

I followed a video on YouTube by zedomax that got me "s-off and root" I followed all the instruction and i open up the command and then it asked me if I wanted to download clockwork recovery and I put"y" for yes but my internet went out so it failed and told me to download a recovery and flash it over myself but I don't know how to do it. I downloaded ROM manager and it told me I needed SU permission to flash the recovery

Nevermind I found out how to do it using the "update.zip" method

May I suggest that you copy and paste your solution, otherwise anyone who's having this problem and searches will find a thread without a complete answer.
I downloaded the recovery zip file and renamed it PG86IMG.zip and placed it in the root of my SD car then went into fastboot and the phone did the rest.

Hung up on romracer cwm flash method thru cmd prompt?? Help??

Ive pudding unlocked fine thru cmd prompt and Rooted through one click method" which btw works well".
Im tryin to now flash cwm thru cmd prompt but fails at the moto-fastboot flash recovery recovery-red-photon3
He has diff color versions to choose
How can u flash any of his cwm zips as a .img file when they all download as zips
The video and script says they download as. . Img. But i download and they are zips then i extract into same folder as moto-fastboot
Whats the deal here? Are they supposed to be zips? Supposed to be renamed?
Whats the best way to put all this in a folder and name it what??? to be able to flash with the cmd method ?

There are two links for each color. Click the first link (img) not the second link (zip).

The command should be:
Code:
moto-fastboot flash recovery recovery-red-photon3.img
you have to include the .img file extenstion

Anyone think terminal emu on device could flash the cwm recovery.img file??

Just in curiosity ive seen rooting and flashing done on prior devices with terminal emulator right from the device itself!
Anyone think it be possible to apply cwm recovery zip or. Img file from terminal ?
OR root from terminal.. its been done with a few htc devices
Im just wondering if i tried moto- fastboot commands from terminal if it would flash romracers cwm recovery??
Sent from my MB855 using XDA App
As long as you have the flash_image binary on your phone you'll be able to flash a recovery image from Terminal Emulator.
Ok so if i have the clockwork zip extracted into sdcard external using androzip which now shows recovery.img 4.7mb file in my download folder Instead of using cmd from windows laptop.
Now does moto-fastboot still apply since id be trying this from the device? Cause when u do it on a computer moto fastboot has to be in same folder as the recovery.img
What would be the proper command prompts to apply in terminal to flash the cwm recovery?
Im not all that good with adb or terminal unless i see command lines in front of me ..In the past i have rooted my old mytouch 4g when i was with tmobile right from terminal..

Download this http://www.mediafire.com/?z2bd5u4esh73mbv
Put the update.zip into your adb folder commonly known as your platform-tools folder.
Boot your phone into stock recovery
Choose adb side load
Then type "adb sideload update.zip" with no quotes.
This will update you to the latest VRALL release. Once this updates it will fix your corrupt sboot file and you are ready for CASUAL boot loader unlock and root
