errr... what are you trying to flash?
If you're getting a sig check try downloading the file again (I assume you're attempting to flash a .zip update of some sort from a custom recovery).
Make sure the file you are attempting to flash is flashable, a while ago I spent a good 1/2 hour searching for info on why the OC patch failed the signature checks, it turns out I had downloaded the zimage instead of the flashable update.
Sorry let me explain I has a Eris I just put the root 2.1 file on it and bootloaded it and it was successful then I moved to the next step install the recovery with a adb push and that worked when I tried mounting and pushing the flash_image not go any suggestions

follow these directions
Code:
III: Flashing a Custom Recovery
Flashing a custom recovery will make your life easier when flashing ROMs in the future.
1. Download the Recovery file from down below.
2. Move the recovery.img file to your \tools\ directory of your Android SDK.
3. Open up a command prompt and go to your tools directory, and execute these commands:
WINDOWS USERS
From your tools directory in the sdk do the following command
adb reboot bootloader
You will have FASTBOOT highlighted in red like it is here
Now on your computer do the following
Fastboot flash recovery recovery-RA-eris-v1.6.2.img
Just modify the commands to match the names of your files.
its a lot easier to flash through fastboot.
I'm having problems with the flash_image

hey all,
well i unlocked my bootloader okay.. i used the android super toolbox (.bat file) and choose to flash a recovery.img i choose the Amonra option but it installed CWM recovery instead...and now I cannot get Amonra to succussfully flash, so that I can root. Any help?!
Reboot boot loader and use fast boot to flash amon ra. I think its called recovery.img and its in the tools folder of that tool. Put it in the folder you have adb and fasboot and then while in boot loader do fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

Make sure you add .img to the end of the recovery file name. I forgot once and got an error.

This is kind of wrong... I'm assuming you've CD (changed directories) to the platform-tools in order to use fastboot. With that being the case, you'll want to specify the "path of the recovery" not the "name of the recovery" + .img of course.

You are placing the recovery image in the same folder correct ? but yes that would be the correct path. I don't know why you would change name as long as you are typing it in correctly.
I always change the name to make it easier to type. Example: cwm-touch.img or recovery.img. I never leave it all crazy like "clockwork-vigor-5.5.1-recovery.img"

I just did it though ubuntu.... god i love linux lol thanks all for ur input
i did notice this on the hboot screen
Open DSP v10.6.0.7611.00.0919
maybe that was there before, but i just noticed it. anything in the name of S-Off!
What is the error you are getting?
The phone is in fastboot, yes? It says "fastboot usb"?
Are you using a folder named "Root" or do you just have your stuff all loose in root? I would keep it in a folder, name it whatever you like, android or something. Put everything you need in there, including the recovery zip file.
Open cmd prompt.
cd c:\android
fastboot flash recovery nameofrecovery.img
That should do it. I've attached a pic of what I have in my folder which is all you need in there.
Hello!
so I just unlocked my boot loader for my Verizon Droid DNA, I am using this forum page and his software that the person created ( [email protected]'s HTC DROID DNA ALL IN ONE KIT. here is the link. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2000896 and my question is. when I select TWRP 2.4.0.0 in the software all comes up is the command prompt and no where on the forum or on the app tells me how to run the root for my DNA, if someone so kind to tell me what the command prompt to run the TWRP root in this app. also someone said that I need to run the perm root after I root the phone, is that correct if so what is the command script to run this as well.
THANKS!
So you haven't installed a custom recovery correct.

correct I see the TWRP in the recovery folder in the where the app is located. so far I just got my bootloader unlocked so I can root the phone. I also hear that clockworkmod recovery is a better root than TWRP but cant find a good forum walkthrough for clockworkmod.
Thanks!

I personally like twrp, but it really doesn't matter. I'd reccomend you try both and see which one you like. But anyway,
download a recovery to your computer.
Put your phone into fastboot and connect it to your computer
Open a command prompt where the recovery image file you downloaded is located(shift right click, open command prompt here)
Type "fastboot devices" to make sure your computer sees your phone
Type "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img", but replace the recovery.img with whatever the file was named.
Now you should have a custom recovery. Which will allow you to install a superuser package so you can have root access on pure stock. And it also lets you flash custom kernels and roms.
If you had any issues just post what the issue is.

yes. I am in fastboot on my phone when I run the command. so what I did was I pulled the file TWRP out of the folder and put it in the same folder where Fastboot app is at and then rename from TWRP to Recovery.img and then ran the command and again and it was done in like 2 sec and all it said its finished. so I rebooted my phone and download Superuser and also tired to download an rooted app but still doesn't seem to work... and superuser is complaining there is no kernel....
What happens when you run superuser?
Maybe provide a screenshot.

I think that since you don't have a /system writeable kernel you'll need to flash it. Download the zip from here and flash it.

Or you can download the file from your phone. In the recovery it will appear in "downloads", and you should just be able to flash it from there.

Using your mac? I don't use my mac for my phone stuff so I can't help you there.
There's a PH98IMG of Amon Ra somewhere, but now that I think about it I don't know if you can use that type of file yet at this point, before having a custom recovery on the phone. Btw... newest Amon Ra is v3.16, unless there's a 3.17 now.
I am assuming that you already have the adb setup.
Download the recovery and rename it to well recovery then put the "recovery" file on the adb folder
Next open up terminal type "cd" then space bar and drag and drop the folder that you put the recovery file into the terminal then hit enter
Turn off fastboot on your phone and turn on usb debugging and type this into the terminal ./adb devices
If your device shows up then type this ./adb reboot bootloader
then type this ./fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
wait for it to flash then type ./fastboot reboot bootloader
Then go to the recovery then once you are in the custom recovery go down to developer options
Select Install su and superuser and wait for that to finish.
And boom your rooted and running
I have a mac also and thats what I did

I am using a Mac Book to root with. My Rezound is unlocked with S on. I have read many threads about installing custom recovery and accessing custom recovery dating back to 2011. I have tried to root it through H boot by installing it in the root of my sd card and it did not work. What is the best version number and steps to use in order to root my Rezound with my mac book because I am really stuck . Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I haven't used it for anything. I just wanted to be sure that I didn't need to put any type of file in the removable sd card. I followed all of the steps including finding the developer option under recovery. From there I selected install su and superuser.
