Hi, I've tried searching to no avail, if I've missed something please point me in the right direction.
I have just rooted my GSM HTC Hero, and after playing with 6/7 2.1 ROMs, I haven't been able to connect to either of my Wifi access points, even after updating the radio ROM to the latest.
I didn't have any problems with this on the stock 1.5, and I've been playing with major 2.1 ROMs, namely BeHero, VillianROM, Raidroid etc.
Have I missed something in particular or is something not right?
Thanks, Phil
Try turning on WiFi, then rebooting?
Thanks, but I've done all the usual stuff, including a reboot. Unfortunately it says 'obtaining IP' for a while and then says 'disconnected'.

I seem to be having a small(or large?) issue with my Wi-Fi connectivity - after rooting my phone it didn't surprise me that I lost GPS functionality, it didn't surprise me that I never got it back but hey I can live without it if it means I don't have to wait for HTC.
What's beginning to bother me is the fact that my phone can't manage a Wi-Fi connection it could 3 days ago.
Tried restoring my 1st nandroid backup that I made immediately after I flashed the custom recovery and I still had no Wi-Fi. And no GPS.
Also I have tried flashing 63.18.55.06JU_6.35.09.26 as well as 63.18.55.06JU_6.35.08.29 with no result on either front.
Please help me out if ya can.
What ROM you using pal?
1st thing to try is to put both your GPS and WiFi on, then turn your phone off and back on again.
I'm currently trying to use SenseHero 2.2
I have tried turning on both WiFi and GPS and rebooting, I have also tried similarly - leaving them on and flashing the radio too...
It doesn't seem to be helping all too much.
Furthermore(and the part that concerns me most) I have tried restoring my initial nandroid, the 1st one I made and saved after flashing the custom recovery and still nothing.
and there's no mention of issues in the Sensehero thread no?
If I was you,....
I'd backup my sd,... Format it. Then run a RUU so it unroots and goes back to stock state,... then see if it is working again or not.
I've been searching threads over as many forums I can find for DAYS. But still a no go..
I suppose I'll try to unroot it. I haven't finished researching the RUU's, does it matter which one I use?
Well apparently unrooting the phone doesn't reinstate the GPS or WiFi connectivity.... GPS still "unable to determine location" and the WiFi still SEES the WLAN networks in range but still cannot connect to any of them.
I can't seem to find anyone else who has had problems with WiFi connecting let alone wifi AND gps problems.
Hi.
When I flashed Cronos 2.0 I decided to update my radio for mthe first time since I got my hero.
I flashed Radio_63.18.55.06PU_6.35.15.11_Signed.
Since then my internet doesn't seem to work on 3g, only on HSDPA.
I thought it might be the rom so I restored my 1.5.1 but the problem remained, so I assume it's because I changed the radio. I just tried flashing Radio_Signed_HERO_63.18.55.06PU_6.35.15.14 which I assume is more recent but the problem is still there.
When it is on 3g the upload arrow lights up but not the download, and on wireless tether the download speed goes to 0.
This is really annoying because I'm moving at the moment so my internet was cut off a couple of days ago, and I was relying on being able to access the net through tethering my phone.
If anyone knows a solution or what could be wrong I would really apreciate the help!
Thanks
What if you flash your previous radio?
Try to flash a previous Radio Rom, as jonaskul said.
Or you could try the never one, but i've seen that orange users have some sort of problem with it.
If the Radio Rom causes problem, it would still be there after you flashed to another ROM. Since you don't flash the Radio at the same time.
Hi case0,
Did you manage to resolve this issue? What you describe seems to be ~exactly~ my issue after flashing a new ROM (but not touching the radio).
Thanks,
Pete
My basic understanding is that the baseband is like the firmware that makes the radio in your phone work (calls, mobile internet, wifi etc) right? But that is where my knowledge ends.
Just recently the mobile internet on my streak stopped working. The indicator for mobile internet still shows in the notification bar but any attempts to reach a web site or other connection just times out and fails. Wifi still works perfectly. It's not an issue with the carrier as I have never had to set anything up it has just worked out of the box each time I have updated anything. In any case for info my network is 3uk.
Now I have dropped this phone a few times, admittedly this could be what has caused the damage. On the other hand something might have become corrupted.
So assuming something might have got corrupted I'm thinking it could be the baseband but as I don't know much about them I'm not sure.
I have used QDL tool many times and had various versions of streakdroid on my streak. I have just about mastered the recover/restore/install procedure however in my ignorance you might say I have not learned much about basebands. I always try to learn the things I need as I go along and till now have not had to worry.
Here's the dumb questions I need answers to:
Do basebands come with each build of android? I mean rom downloads either official or streakdroid. I got the impression they did but not sure. I normally use streakdroid since v1.5.1
If they don't come with the roms where can I download an up to date baseband to see if it will fix my problem?
So far I have used QDL tool using the guide on streakdroid. Following that I install streakmod then use that to install streakdroid 1.9.0
Should I try installing any other rom?
Any other suggestions or tips of how I could get my mobile internet working?
Thanks in advance for any help!!
Have you looked at your APN settings?
Select Settings>Wireless & Networks>Mobile networks>Access Point Names
(might not be the exact name of the menus) but i know its under Wireless & Networks. Might need to reset the APN to default or search and reselect it.
Hi Thanks for the reply.
Yes I have tried to do the search to reselect it but it just searches for a long time as if its hung. Reset to default didn't change anything. (3 three.co.uk stayed putt)
Also I have completely reset my phone to factory default and back to latest streakdroid a few times. In the past I've not had to touch APN it just works after installing whatever rom.
I think I've already tried the most obvious things.
Would flashing the latest baseband help? Assuming it doesn't already come with the latest streakdroid. If it does then its looking like I am screwed unless there is anything else I could look at??
HELP!
Have you tried your USIM in another phone. 3 may have blocked your Internet access as you are using a non-3 phone.
What does your about screen say for your baseband version and stuff?
Baseband version
GAUSB1A130500-EU
Regarding "non-3 phone" I hope thats not the case. I've never had an actual "3 phone" I always use unlocked phone's. Prior to this one an omnia and prior to that a k850i neither of which are 3 phones. I will try the sim in another phone see what happens now. Let you know.
IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO UPDATE TO THE BELOW BASEBAND FOR 1.5.1+
Baseband File Download:
Primary Download Site: http://downloads.streakdroid.com/djsteve/amss.mbn
Mirror 1: http://mirror2.streakdroid.com/amss.mbn
I guess u missed this part when flashing 1.9. The recommended baseband for 1.9 is 318.
Delltech you are right I did overlook that. However going back to your last point that 3 may have blocked my internet access. I think your right!! I just tried my sim in another phone and that can't connect to the internet.
Anything I can do if they have blocked my internet??
Call them and speak to tech support, they've got a bunch of cool techies who'll sort it out right away.
Will do.... Thanks!
Hi guys,
yesterday i rooted my device, did downgrade to 1.31 (followed instructions on Cyanogenmod wiki and from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1223950 ) then rooted the phone successfully.... before root i was able on 2.2 froyo normally access internet, phone connected and started recieveing data etc... but now on the 2.1 version i installed (rootedupdate.zip) , when i connect to on wifi, i am not able to get any data from the internet, wifi is connected but nothing is going trough... i have tried several radios ( 05,21,26L,13) ... (unforutnatelly i dont remember which radio i had before starting doing all this changes) ....
maybe i am not following correct procedure when flashing radios ... doing it over CWM 2.05.7 , radio change is visible in the recovery menu where HBOOT version is mentioned etc, also in the system itself... so i assume i am doing it correctly
does anybody know what can i do now... thanks
Im sorry, but I hate to be a whinner, but this is the dev section NO QUESTIONS IN HERE. There is a q&a section.
Are any mods monitoring? Please move.

Hi all,
I've been happily following the progression of ROM developments, since I got my P7510 (P4WIFI) and sampling a variety of ROM's up through the versions of Android. I recently upgraded to a 4.3 ROM and developed a problem...I could connect to wifi as always, but could not get internet access (wifi connected, but no browsing, play store, weather apps, etc.).
I worked my way back through a number of recovery backups, knowing that in all of them I didn't have this problem, but it remained.
In desperation, I unrooted and returned to stock and the problem was still there! I found a .pit file for the 7510, re-partitioned, formatted the partitions and reloaded the stock ROM...still no change.
Can anyone point me to a solution? I've googled myself stoopid on this one...
Cheers,
PF.

Try to toggle airplane mode on then off..not sure if it will work on our tabs...but it works on my epic 4g touch..this is just a work around though.
What stock did you return to...
I'll look around and see what I can find...
My first thought was it's a router issue. I've had the same thing happen to me and in the end all that was needed was a router reboot.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried the airplane mode on/off, but it didn't help.
The stock version I'm on is Build number IMM76D.XWMPF (P7510XWMPF_P7510XSAMP1_HOME.tar.md5)... I believe the correct one for my country...? Not sure if that's a red herring, though. The problem occurred going from 4.2 to 4.3 and has stuck with every restore and rebuild I've tried since.

Thanks B-man.
Tried the router reboot, no dice. Also tried connecting to different WAPs and the problem remains. I tried connecting to my SGS4 as a portable hotspot, which was working fine previously...identical problem...
