I am not able to start wifi on my device. The wifi button in Comm Manager resets back to off position whenever I try to start it.
I tried to change the ROM and radio, but I am facing the same problem with each ROM and radio.
Please help me solve this problem...

Here`s how i managed to solve the same problem on my t-mobile. I don`t know if the problem was caused by RegistryWizard of if the little program actualy helped me to solve it. Anyway, i have it installed by default with my Crossbow ROM and i discovered that when i untick the "Enable 802.11g(54Mbps)" checkbox, the comm manager alows me to enable the wifi afterwards.
However the option magicly enables itself after a while and i have to repeat the process all over again since i`m too lazy to try and find out what causes this and fix it for good So good luck and let me know if it helped or if you found another solution to this.
This can also be caused by having the wrong version of Comm Manager on your device. Be sure you have the correct version of the Comm Manager on your device and see if this helps.
i do know that this is a problem when you just write a new rom to your device. DO A HARD RESSET vill solve your problem.

My WiFi is not working when I turn it on. When I turn it on, it just do nothing. I tried to run WLAN Module Test to check the problem using Self Diagnostics, sometimes it can detect the MAC address, means OK, but sometimes it shows error saying "GetAdapterInfo() return FALSE....".
For your info, I already reflash the updated ROM (0426), but it seems not working. Now, I'm using ATOM EXEC ROM (0721).
Can someone please help me before I send my ATOM to repair center?
You sure this isn't after an ActiveSync session? My device often needs a soft reset after a session.
Yeahhh... I'm very very very sure about this! Eventhough I didn't use Activesync, the same problem still happened.
I tried to downgrade the ROM, the WiFi still not working!
I have the same problem as idzilhafis.
Tried to run Self Diagnostic and got the same two answers, sometimes the module is correctly detected and somtimes not.
When the module is detected during the test, also the Access Point name is detected (I have a wifi AP at home), but the connection doesn't work.
When I use Wireless Manager, the module is not alwais detected and sometimes also the wifi button disappears.
Of course I flashed and re-flashed the firmware, using the original manufacturer's latest ROM and the "not for sale" version. Nothing changes.
May be an hardware failure?
I think, I can answer myself.
Yesterday in the evening I did put the Atom in the fridge for a while, because i noticed that using the pda and then increasing its temperature, the module was never recognized.
Using the pda after an hour of fridge (I did put it in a little bag), the wifi module works like a charm. It is ok until it's temperature raise again, then the module hangs.
Such a behaviour is typical of an hardware fault.
I think that this kind of problem is surely not due to a wrong use, and should be covered by warranty. But I don't know where to send it for service (I'm in Italy).
Any idea?
I had tremendous problems with my O2 Atom WIFI which would not connect to my laptop WIFI LAN Network. I asked O2 Technical People & Lot of people on this and other forum but got no perfect response.
Practically trying many options I by chance put back the old ROM upgrade of O2 2006123-45 and tried switching on the WIFI and lo and behold it worked fine.
Then I reload the new ROM 20060426 again and it works fine.
This proves that if you reload the NEW Upgrade ROM more than once it locks the WIFI.
No, it proves that any ROM upgrade can result in strange things, and reflashing either the same ROM or another ROM can fix it. It's well known with stuff like battery use (some users have had their standby time doubled by just reflashing the same ROM).
I sent to o2 expert and he don't know what to do. Tried to change registry, still not working. Tried to reflash, stillnot working. I think hardware problem. Don't worry, I still got warranty!

yesterday i was flashing a new rom to my prophet and for some reason i got a bluescreen while doing it. and the process stopped at 60%
after flashing again without problems i face some poblems.
sometimes it takes 1 or more softresets for the cell to find my network.
wlan ist not working at all. i can find a present network but when i try to log in i allways get the message network unaviable.
i tried to install the original o2 rom that came with my device but i have the same problems
just that it finds the wlan network and as soon as i enter the password the complete call hangs.
so now i have the shadow "my edition" 2 rom on my phone but i cant get it running it goes till "tap the screen to set up your Windows..." and then nothing happens anymore
i can not even get to the bootloader the phone just does not boot when i hold any button during boot. only thing working it hardreset but that does not change anything
before i tried to flash a new rom i was using the "my edition" 2 rom and everything was working fine but now after the crash it does not work anymore
i managed one time to get it running compleatly but wlan did show the same problems as under othe roms
could it really be that i damaged the hardware durning my abortet flash?
can anyone offer some help how to fix this?
IT seems unlikely that you have damaged the hardware, but it is possible.
Can you enter bootloader? If so, disable connect through USB in activesync, connect the device, and run a NVID AKU 2.2 WM5 ROM. See if the problems persist with this.

i can't ever turn wi-fi on..but if i check it with self diagnostic it pass the test...
is the a sort of commandline to enable it?or maybe a tool to use it??
i open wireless manager, press the Wi-Fi button..and it loads for about 30 seconds..then it remains disabled and i can't press the wi-fi button anymore..i have to quit out the wirelessmanager and re-enter in it to press it again..but is ever the same..
i've tried the wi-fi utility into Setting..but the same again
i have the 20080210RCWWE rom from Abusalza..any issue?

hi sir, im also using the rom from Abusalza. so far no issues with wifi. try soft reset. if that does not work, try the suggestion of kray_zie, i.e.: hard reset.

yesterday after flashing an dreturned original rom tim italian v.RUU_Nike_TIM_IT_1.31.408.09.
the device is starting without problem and installing operator setting.
in 2nd restart i setup any program (tom tom 7, tcmpc, opera mobile 9, spb time.) the divece is ok, after stand by i push the power button the phone display is off, the line's led is green.

Mark the checkbox 'Advanced Network Connectivity' in USBtoPC somewhere in Start -> Options. I have the same Problem with another ROM.
If i uncheck the box my Device won't wake up from StandBy when Power Button is pressed.
But now i have always to uncheck the named option before sync with PC (ActiveSync). Waiting for solution.

the radio rom could he give the problem?

i powered off hsdpa the problem is cotinued
before i flash the 2 rom the device work very well.

It's definitely a software related problem so pls help me. I've been trying to fix that by my own but I don't know where to begin to fix this. That all began when I used the normal Stock Rom. Currently I'm using an unofficial CM11. The system change didn't change anything. Quite annoying...

Is your Wifi mac address unavailable,if yes we have same problem,i tried flashing new kdz,and changing numerous roms but problem still persist.
Can you go to system/etc/wifi and see if you got nvram.txt file,mac address is stored there,if that file exist maybe we can fix it

sorry for answering that late. I've been busy a lot so I didn't have time to care about my phone.
So I just looked up what you said and I didn't find that .txt-file. What i found are several .cfg-files. My ROM is CM 11 Unofficial, if that helps you in any way. My problem is that i cant't transfer any files from my Phone to my PC.
