Hi.
I have a problem regarding the speaker volume on my hero when using 2.1 roms.
When i turn it all the way up to max the volume is a lot lower than the official 1.5 at max volume.
This is a big problem as my phone becomes allmost unusable for GPS navigation (i have a crappy car that makes a lot of noise). I also often miss calls when using 2.1 roms.
I have tested one of the rooted official 2.1 rom and it has the same problem.
Does anyone have any idea why the max volume is mutch lower with 2.1 than 1.5? or even better have an ide for a fix?
The roms i have tested with are
Official 2.1
Cronos Droid 1.6
aHero 1.0
VanillaEclair 3.0 & 3.3 RC1
VillainROM 10

That's not entirely true.
I've maxed out my volume in [email protected], so you can't turn it all the way up, otherwise the sound will be distorted.
You can download [email protected], extract /system/etc/AudioPara* and copy that over to you /system/etc/
Did anyone try this solution?

Everything is ok in my Modaco version of the oficial 2.1. Maybe you didnt untick Quiet ring on pickup wich reduses ring volume when you move the phone ? in car its allwasy on move. My ringer volume is set to max everything is pretty much the same when in comes to volme.

So the "Quiet ring on pickup" feature will also quiet down the voice from my stanav program (navigon)??
Thats stupid. Anyway is have tested on the modaco 2.1. But ill try to turn off quiet ring and see if that helps.

To so anything sensible to fix this, you will need to be rooted to be able to edit the audio settings in /system/etc
+1, same problem here with gmaps and navigon.
I'm using rooted stock 2.1

I am running the current leak of Froyo... if I bluetooth connect to my car audio system for hands free calling I lose all external sound when I disconnect. I have gone through all the audio settings with nothing appearing out of place. The first Froyo rom I tried redirected the ringer out the earpiece, the new leak kills it completely. All ideas welcome.... I will try anything. Thanks in advance!

I'm having the same issue. each time I connect to my car's bluetooth audio and made a call, I'll lose the notification sounds. even calls won't ring.
currently had to resort to phone's speaker function, but that won't do.
am scouring the net for some answers, and will update if i found anything.
Samsung Galaxy S
How was there no reply to this? I have had the same issue on every samsung vibrant 2.2 rom, including custom roms. now i am having the same issue on my stock galaxy s 4G! Help?
Bump!
Running Nero on Galaxy S.
Same problem with Vibrant + Froyo 2.2
Sounds strikingly similar to my experience with my Samsung Vibrant running Froyo 2.2 + custom Axura 2.3.1.3 ROM.
After disconnecting any bluetooth device, in some cases the phone's speaker is completely muted (media/system/notification volumes all cranked to max) until I either reboot or make a voice call and enable speakerphone.
I've hunted high and low on the webternets for a solution and have come up dry.
I smell a bug.
Same problem Stock Vibrant 2.2

Thanks, I guess - at least I don't have to keep rebooting since the voice call/speakerphone workaround gets my sound back. This is a PITA.
I have the same issue in MIUI_Au since 1.10.x revisions (previous versions worked OK). I had exactly the same problem 6 months ago with Villain ROM and it was the reason I dumped it. It seems to be a CM7 issue...

Thanks for that...keeps me from having to reboot. And I'm even running (embarrassingly) the 2.2 update direct from Samsung. Need to finally take the time to root…
Hi, which version of Louder Volume Hack works on Xperia X10 and if there is, How can I apply the codes into my phone .
thanks in advance
It doesn't. You have to install a custom kernel with that particular fix. Loud volume hack wont work on our phones and if u look at the description where you download it it says does not support Sony Ericsson phones. U could try dsp manager though

I have been looking for something to address the same issue. Which froyo or gingerbread roms that are fully working address the volume issue? Also, what is DSP manager, where can I get it, and how does it address the volume problem? Thanks!

dsp manager is a global equalizer for your phone.. its awesome.. made my x10 10x louder.. and in the case of headphones, i actually prefer listening music via x10 rather than my ipod after applying dsp manager.. lol..
you can download the apk from here
if the apk dosent work then try flashing the attached zip file via xrecovery..!!
but make sure you are on a froyo or a gingerbread rom cause it works only on 2.2 and above..

Start DSP manager and choose for example "phone speaker". Tick "Enabled" and raise the equalizers up. I think if you raise up the last 3 bars it will be just fine.
You can do the same for "Headset" and the "Bluetooth device".

Many thanks,
I finally made this work for me
Dsp is the best but I have a question, on a gingerbread rom, thinkin its rendeiro or rdannar's one but not trip, Ive found DSP manager with the bass boost option, since Ive turn it back my phone to froyo, using wolf's rom, DSP manager doesn't have the bass button, wondering if there is different versions of DSP Manager.
Btw im using wolf rom on bb55, stock kernel, x10a, 2.1.0.435 I think

Trying to search for other DSP versions, but couldn't find any other than v.1.0.
The best settings I found for volume/clarity with DSP Manager for the phone speaker is to set values (left to right) at 4.0, 4.5, 5.5, 6.0, 5.5 These setting boost the whole range but keep distortion down on the high and low.

If I (or anyone for that matter!) help you, dont be afraid to press THANKS!
I never set the first higher than two cost the bass distorts too much. The rest I set at 6 tho and it sounds fine. Maybe twice as loud as previously. At least I can hear my phone from my back pocket now lol

Same with me. I played some music on the player, same time i went to DSP and play with the bars. Last 3 up and the first two at about 2 was the best setting and sound clariry.
The settings of the "headset" is other thing though. The bass there is raised more.
Hi everyone,
I got myself a Galaxy Ace about a week ago and I'm happy with phone except for the ringtone and notification volume. It is just too soft. The mp3 files that I use sounds fine when played through the music player but when set as ringtone or notification sound it is too soft.
What can I do to increase the volume of the ringtones and notification sound. Any help in the matter is much appreciated.
Thanks.
Well on 2.2.1 with the samservmode app from the market it was easy but doesn´t work on 2.2.4 i made all to 9db but nothing is louder.
Would really know how to make the ace louder i think i am not the only one that feels so that the ace is really not loud.
Volume+(sound boost) app really works well to boost sound. It works only on gingerbread.
Ok I tried the samservmode app on my galaxy ace but no luck in changing the sound volume. There is an entry labeled "AUDIO" but nothing happens when I touch it. There rest of the entries in the menu works fine.
I couldn't find any app named volume+ in the market.
My phone's firmware is DXKC1 with Android version Froyo 2.2.1
Thanks.

Okay youre on 2.2.1 that is easy i help you, you got samservmode listen carefully.
Go to audio then, max8899 amp then, make following headset stereo pre amp gain 9db exit then speaker pre amp gain 9db exit then mp3 speaker pre amp gain 9db exit.
That boost 9db all music!!
20db is too much but you can try it but i find it too much.

My problem is that I can't access the audio menu at all. It just does not respond as if there is no sub menu beyond the main menu. The rest of the items in the main menu works ok.
Do I need to rooted to use this app?
It's because you can only make those changes when you're running Gingerbread.

Ok, I flashed Gingerbread XXKPH Android version 2.3.4 and I could make those changes now. The sound adjustments work great but they revert back to the default settings after a reboot. Is that normal?

Yes that is normal after reboot you must set them new, but you see easy way to make +9db and it is really enough because 20db hurts in the ears.
I've searched and searched, but haven't been able to find a solution.
Some ROM's have very low call volume through the earpiece, and some are fine. The speakerphone volume is okay, so is when using a headset, just the earpiece volume is very very low. AOKP ICS is fine, but for a few reasons I still wan't to run a Gingerbread based ROM, but Unnamed and Unoriginal have very low call volume.
I've tried accessing the service menu, but it won't let me click into the audio menu. As a last resort yesterday I purchased the Volume+ app, but it didn't make any difference.
Any ideas on how to resolve the low earpiece call volume on Gingerbread ROMs?
-Regards,
Steve
I'm running the official ICS release, and still low volume. =(
What did AOKP do to fix it?
when i was using gingerbread, this is what i did:

Awesome thanks! I wonder if I can use the phone libs from AOKP to fix the official ICS release, since this fix is GB only.

I don't know if anyone can help with this. I use talkatone for voice calls and when I try to adjust the in-call volume I cant, I use the volume buttons and its shows its turning the volume up and down but dosen't in fact change the volume. It weird because I know my sgp is US version and I flashed the right stock rom, everything else works fine but no way to change in call volume. I ran slim bean for awhile and the in-call volume worked, maybe someone could suggest a way to fix it. I can't think of any.

I've used talkatone but never encountered this problem. I rooted my sgp. Stock rom. Only thing I can suggest is using grooveip. I've used both, and goove ip sounds better. Less lag as well
