SMS backup-getting SMS Export tool (yorch.net) working?

HI together, :?
I`m new in this forum and found it because I have a issue I don`t get rid of. I have 2500 sms messages on my xda and want to sell it to get a new one. My problem is I don`t want to delete my whole sms messages as there are so many important one I can`t delete as I need them documented.
I installed now the SMS Export tool from yorch.net as I red in this forum here that I should be able to get this done with this tool.
Problem is that I´m not able to get it done successfully.
1. I downloaded the tool and installed it from my PC over Active Sync on my xda.
2. I can see the SMSExport.vce file in my root folder on my xda
3. I can see the VICERT.vce and Visual CE.unload file under /windows
Problem is now that I need asistance how I can use the tool now ?
1. If I start the VICERT.vce file I get the msg "Run VisualCE.exe to create a form"
2. If I run Visual CE.unload file as I don`t see a exe I get the msg that there is no application assigned to the file?
3. If I riun the SMSExport.vce file I get a programm called SMS Export Utility in front of me where I don`t know how to handle to get the sms messages on my local PC.
My aim is to read the sms messages on my local pc (word or txt file) and burn it as backup on a cd.
I would really appreciate any help as I spent hours already on this topic and I`m not smart enough to get it done.
Thanks in advance...
I faced the same problem, I've searched all over this forum, but until late, I used this software : Smart Phone Studio (http://smartdev.51.net/)
It lets you save all your SMS from phone to PC, and you can also save them on text files with nice formatting
You can also backup SMS from your device, and restore them from the PC at anytime you want!!!
ah I forgot to tell that it also works for XDAs, regardless of its name

Do you have the program on your local machine to send it to me via email ? I`m not able to download the program as there is no version available at the moment ...
I'd appreciate a copy as well if possible.
Oops! its not available on the site & its not free anymore!!!!!
But don't worry, I will send u a copy of it when I come back home..
Ok, here is the file..
Simple steps to run it:
1. Change your PC date to March 2004.
2. Copy SPStudio.exe to your PC & run it.
3. Copy CommMan.exe to your pocket PC & run it.
4. Just click on the buttons at the left panel to access your SMS messages & use FILE menu to export/import messages.
Cheers
Thanks. I appreciate it.
Thhhhhhhhhhhhhhanks ... it is working. I really appreciate your time to help me. Just saved thousands of sms .... really cool. Have a great time.
Cu Mic
You are most welcome guys
I've recently found a software which synchronizes you SMS with MS Outlook! SMS Sync for Outlook:
http://www.v2r-advanced.com/SMSSync.html
I wonder why Microsoft does not support synchronize SMS with ActiveSync, much like emails :?
I've found a new software which transforms your SMS messages into emails, which then can be easily synchronized with the PC
http://www.geocities.com/tomgrek/
anyone tested it ????
download source for spstudio (expiring by april 2004)
after some browsing the web i have found an alternative download source for the famous spstudio:
http://www.coolsmartphone.com/cooldownloads/SPStudio.zip
you probably have to register at coolsmartphone.com (its for free) before you are allowed to download files.
also consider the hints given above (setting back the date of your pc to march 2004 etc.) for getting the tool working.
enjoy

help...
i am also desperately trying to backup valuable sms. unfortunately i need to back them up since i need to reset my device cause active sync is no longer working ..BIG PROBLEM...i cannot use any of the above tools without active sync.
any ideas how i can get the sms off my MDA without active sync???
thanks
woody
Since your active sync is not working, you can try to backup your files to SD card (use Sprite Backup or anything else to do so) and then you can hard reset your device safely..
Make sure it is the latest version of sprite backup, that software caused nightmares for me, after restoring I could not recieve or send sms so please be sure you get the latest fixed version.

but how can i use sprite backup if i cannot install the software ? no acitve sync, no new installations...
if you can find it as a cab file you can copy it to your sdcard and run it from your xda
SMS Sync Outlook
Hello, Regarding the SMS Sync Outlook...one of the requirements was having Outlook 2003. I still use Outlook 2002, does it matter? Don't really want to upgrade to 2003 yet as there might still be some bugs. Any thoughts anyone?
Thanks,
Bree :?:
Hi Bree (Kabayan?)
I am using Outlook 2003 for several months and as of this moment no problems or bugs yet.
Export your SMS to Storage
Try this program and export all your SMS to your Storage: xpocketpc.fw.hu

Windows ROM Editor 2003 Question

Dear all,
I use to use Windows ROM Editor 2003 to see, add files and change the bootloader image on the ROMs. For some reason now when I open WM6.1,6.0 or 5.0 the editor does not show any files. It just shows the version of the rom and that is it.
Am I doing something wrong or is it that 5.0 upward ROMs cannot be edit using Rom Editor 2003?
Here what I can see when I open the nbf files now. Please see attached image.
All the buttons, tabs above don't work. When I click on them nothing happens.
I am using Windows XP 32bit NTFS
Please advise.
Many thanks
Regards
J
hence the name ER2003 Edit ... its only for WM2003
Oh haha! Well where can I find one for WM6 then? I searched online but the only ROM editor I can find is 2003.
there is none for WM6 because that software was actually built to read ExtROM of WM2003 devices, ER2003Edit = Stands for ExtROM Editor for WM2003, though with few tricks (passwords actually) they were able to open the ROM too

[Consolidated] Evernote blank notes

Update: Fix found thanks to EmporerBen @ the Evernote Forums.
Replace the \Windows\webview.dll file on your phone with the one in the zip file attached to this post.
[Original post]
I've started this thread to try and get to the bottom of a bizzare issue with the Evernote WinMo application on 6.5.5.23xxx builds.
Evernote is (usually) an excellent, free note-taking application that syncs to the web. You can sign up for a free acount [here]
The issue is that in newer builds of Windows Mobile 6.5.5, you can't see the contents of any of any notes. They all show as blank.
The notes show fine in the list and thumbnails view, but not when they're opened to view the whole note.
The issue is present on multiple devices and from multiple ROM chefs.
From my research, I think I've narrowed the first report of the issue down to build 23519 or there abouts.
Older, builds work fine. I've confirmed build 6.5.5.21895 (the one with the start button still at the top) works.
---------------------------
I've tested this on my own device, an HD2 and found:
Not working:
Energy.Leo.23544.Sense2.5_with_Cookie_HomeTab.Mar.11
Energy.Leo.23544.Sense2.5_with_MaxManila.Mar.11
Energy.Leo.23544.Sense2.5.Mar.11.7z
Working:
Energy.Leo.21895.Sense2.5.Mar.11.7z
Energy.Leo.21895.Sense2.5_with_Cookie_HomeTab.Mar.11
Energy.Leo.21895.Sense2.5_with_MaxManila.Mar.11
---------------------------
Evernote have said that the issue is because the newer builds use Opera as the default browser, but this is not true.
Both sets of ROMs have Opera 10 (beta 3 I think) set as the default browser, and Evernote works on the v21895 ROMs, regardless if the default browser setting is IE or Opera.
I've logged a support issue (I'm a payed member) with Evernote, and the issue is being discussed in their forums as well.
Does anybody have any ideas about either a fix or troubleshooting this further?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Just wanted to second this
I have been enjoying the crap out of this new build, and then......No evernote.
Evernote is like, the App that i use most heavily.
Seems i have to scoot back down to the 219 build unless someone has some insight.
Thanks,
Just echoing this, it's a big problem ... Works fine in pre-6.5.5 releases.
Does anybody have a link to download for WM? I tried several times and it doesn't work at all.
EmporerBen found the solution here:
http://forum.evernote.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=15761&start=0
Updated OP with fix
I am not able to paste webview.dll into the windows directory. I tried using Resco and still I am not able to backup a copy of the original file or paste the new version into the directory.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
If someone can make it into a cab file that will work (i.e. will automatically update the dll for you without you having to get too clever).
I think (not tested it!) this is a cab file containing the updated webview.dll:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=624465
but that's certainly what the thread suggests and I've checked out the setup.xml in the cab file - <characteristic type="webview.dll" translation="install">
The problem for those who are using WM6.5.x ROM's and have webview.dll stored in ROM, is that it's unable to replace the file with older one.
Found an ugly but effective solution to resolve this issue without reflashing.
1. Download webview.dll from the first post.
2. Rename downloaded webview.dll for example as webvie1.dll.
3. Put it in the Windows directory.
4. Open your favorite registry editor (I use SKTools Lite), find entries with webview.dll and change them to webvie1.dll.
5. Soft reset.
It works for me on ETEN Glofiish x610 with cooked WM6.5.3 ROM and resolved problems with Evernote Mobile and Blade WiKi.
(sorry for my english)

Getting contacts out of PIMBACKUP via WM emulator

OK.. so I've managed to install microsoft WM6 emulator on my PC and managed to get PIMBACKUP installed and my contacts restored on it. However, in order to get all these contact back out.. I'm going to need to back them up on the emulated device.
What program can I use in WM6 that I can also import the details into Android please? (I.e. no point using PIM Backup, because it doesn't have an Android program so thats out... what other programs please?)
UPDATE: Actually I managed to suss a solution out. I went here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734044 and followed the instructions Imported the resulting CSV file into GMAIL (doing that at present).
BTW.. when using EXCEL, when selecting columns with tel numbers in.. make sure you pick the column as 'text' otherwise it will screw your numbers up (Like dropping the zero's from the front, and thinking it's an integer etc...)

Watch MMS-messages of my smartphone HTC HD2, Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional, on pc

I'm desperately looking for informations how to save and watch the MMS-messages of my smartphone HTC HD2, Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional, CE OS 5.2.21864 (Build 21864.5.0.81),
on to a personal computer.
Thank you very much!
Only way I see of doing that with full play viewing is by using windows 6.5 developer kit on the PC with arcsoft mms installed then copying your cemail.vol to the PC virtual WM6.5.
You then have a full WM6.5 environment on the PC.
Applications like imobile had sms backup with PC viewer but it does not show MMS as just checked with my HD2.
DotFreds pimbackup has mms backup support but no external viewer.
SPB Backup (link in my sig) has PC viewer that can open cemail & see text of sms & MMS but no player or image viewer unfortunately.
arcsoft mms & wm6.5 developer kit should be available if google & search xda .
I have developer suite & probably arcsoft too should be needed.

Thank you very much for quick and well-meant answering Mister B!
I installed Windows 6SDK on my PC but:
- PimBackup-file (“txt-mode” backup file 3MB) restores only SMS, MMS without any text, only special characters
- SPB Backup and Sprite Backup (each backup file 90MB) causes “unexpected error” when restoring.
In my opinion the usable storage (“main storage/data storage: 5MB of 32MB free” // “memsize=256” // “storage card” = folder of hard disc of PC = 200GB free) is too small and as far as I know it is not possible to enlarge.
Please, do you have further advices?
What do you think about:
- Via google I read about a “MMS-extractor” which displays “*.dat”-files of folder “My documents\UA contents”. On my smartphone (HTC HD2, windows mobile 6.5 professional, T-Mobile LEO, November 2009) there is not this folder.
But what about “*.mpb”-files in folder “windows\messaging”. Do they contain the complete MMS (sender, date, text and picture)? Do you know about a reader for mpb-files?
- I red about Microsoft “transfer my data” for lumia smartphones. Do you know, is it possible to transfer my MMS to a lumia smartphone? And is it possible to save and view MMS of lumia to a PC?
Thank you very very much!

I would not use the backup tools for getting the content to the PC wm6sdk.
I would manually copy the cemail.vol & the windows/messaging folder & my documents/uacontents (contains mms files-logs) from phone to the PC or extract these files from likes of a SPB BackUp file .
you'll need install the arcsoft mms cab to the wm6sdk.
I have manually transferred sms & contacts to the sdk before (some time back) never done mms though but should work as long as have all supporting files transferred.
