Storage space - where is it and what goes into it? - S740, S743 General

I keep getting this error message on my new S740:
"Your phone is running low on free storage space. Delete old or unused items to create more space."
Looking at Settings > Device Info > Hardware I see that there is 107.3 Mb of Storage memory available but all but 8Mb is used. What by?
There was only 0.1Mb free but I've adjusted my email settings and cleared the IE cache which has reduced the problem but there is still only about 8Mb free space. There aren't any stored files in My Docs - they're all on the storage disk. What is taking up the rest of the memory and where do I look?
Am I right that programs are in separate memory but, in any case, I don't have any large ones installed on the device?
I guess the contacts and appointments are in the storage space. Where are they? There is a file called PIM but that has a size of 12Mb which is large but not large enough to account for 99Mb so what is taking up the rest?
Can I set the S740 to save attachments onto the card as I used to with my Touch Pro (not that I think that's the main problem)?
Any advice please?

Phone storage full

Hello!
Well the day came, my phone storage is full. Now I'm asking for some tips on how to free some memory. I tried to install all I could to SD but for example Fpesece didn't work until installed to device. It seems that Windows folder takes most of the memory so is there something not needed by the systems. I have deleted all the wallpapers and music and old opera version exe and everything remotely useless. I now have 22MB free out of 175MB. How much free space is needed for system to run smoothly, Youtube stopped working when I had less then 10MB free.
And I haven't installed all that much programs to device, some minor tweaks and Fpesece so it makes this even harder to understand where the free space has gone. And the obvious, all my mails, txt and so on goes to SD and I have been using the phone for 5 months already.
Appreciate all help!
Download "sktools" or "pocket mechanic", something like that anyway and run the cleanup option, that should give you some breathing room.
I usually only have around 50mb free after the weekly cleanup.....

With my HD2 I found I would continually run out of space. The culprit turned out to be the Opera Downloads directory (/windows/opera/profiles/download).
I mention that because although Opera showed no files in the Downloads directory via Opera settings, when I actually inspected the directory there was about 80mb of files in there.
Deleted the files and moved both the Opera cache and the Opera downloads to the storage card via the opera:config settings and I no longer have a problem with the main storage space filling up.
The other thing that did make a difference was specifying in the mail app that attachments should be stored on the storage card as well.
also googlemaps cache.thats the biggest culprit....install gmaps on sd card and remove the files on device memory

Memory usage in the flyer

I get that there are 3 kinds of memory in a flyer. the 8gb of system memory, the 8Gb that they call external sd card and then the user supplied SDhc card. Up until the time that my flyer crashed... I was sorta installing apps and letting them go where the pleased... and i kept on getting out of memory errors or things would not load.
When I reloaded my apps... I put as many as I could into the internal...external SD. So now it has a few hunderd mb of space left and the internal memory has about 3Gb of space open.
And none of the widgets for those program work.
My question is...how should I look at memory usage? Should I leave as much internal memory open as possible so that I can not run out of memory when using apps? Is the user supplied SDhc card only good for things like movies, pictures documents... and not apps?
When that message comes up, its usually talking about the RAM. The Flyer has 1GB of RAM and if you are running it to capacity (ie, close to 1gb), and you try to launch another program, it will not load due to the lack of RAM. In order for it to run, you will have to clear up some RAM by closing programs that are currently running. You can see this all in the task manager (bring down the notifications bar, and in the program shortcuts, you will see a program with a name along those lines: task manager or task killer). You can view your tab's memory usage and close programs that you are not using from there,
Most widgets cannot work if not stored on the main, internal memory, the default for new applications. Some apps can be moved to SD memory, but not widgets.

Quick Way To Free Space and Ram

A more easy way to delete a minimum of 1gb of space which by doing so also frees up ram is to delete the dump state log cat. See every time your device has an error or force close issue, date is collected / written to the log file and this can take up ane enormous amount of space which when space is low also means your device user more ram. To do this go to your dial pad and type in *#9900#
This will automatically brings up options and then just choose to delete the dump state/log cat. Let it clear for a few minutes and that's it's. Try seeing how much space you have before and after and you'll realise this is a blessing.
Also to free more space you can delft the CloudAgent files in the miscellaneous areas of your storage settings.

[Q] H867g Storage problems and help needed please!!

Hello I have a new Huawei Inspira (H867g) The storage listed on the website i bought it from said it had more storage than the phone says..
So DiskUsage says my apps take up 392mb of space all together. This includes the apps i have downloaded and the factory apps such as calendar, bluetooth services, androidhwext, com.qualcomm.privinit and all kinds of tiny things like that.
And Disk Usage says System data uses 123mb
So I go to Settings in my phone, tap on Storage, and it says
Internal Storage:
Total Space: 2.71gb
Available: 1.76gb, 115mb for applications only.
Why only 115mb for applications while there is 1.76gb available???
Is there ANY way to make that 1.76 available for Applications??
Also, When I get down to about 80mb free space left for apps, it says insufficient space available even when downloading apps as small as 5mbs or so.
It is all quite frustrating and stupid...
If there isn't a way to fix these issues and get much space, is there a way to make the MicroSD card perform as internal storage so I can have more storage and download more apps? I saw a video for that on youtube, for android tablets only (rooted) I believe..
I would appreciate ANY info and advice thank you.
