I'm trying to fix my friend's HTC amaze (wind). The screen wasn't turning on but I know that the device itself is on because the computer detects it. I was suddenly able to get it working by reflashing the stock ruu. Then I got everything working rooted it and unlocked the bootloader and installed quicksense. Then I gave it back to my friend and he put his sim card into it and tried to turn it back on but then the screen suddenly didn't show anything again and the light at the bottom shows which is strange. I'm not sure how to diagnose it. My friend got the phone from his friend who got scammed and the phone isn't under warranty. Thanks.

It may not have warranty from the carrier but it does have the warranty from HTC. Call HTC and you send the phone it to them. They'll fix it and send it back. I did that multiple times. I bought HD2s from eBay and I called HTC. They fixed the phone for me.
I originally had trouble with GPS working intermittently and found the thread about bending the pins slightly and it worked. Now I have wonderful GPS signal but can't send or receive calls or messages.
WiFi works, GPS works, I have 5 full bars but I can't place or receive calls.
I suspect that opening the phone resulted in damaging something, but what? If the antenna is damaged than why would I have 5 bars?
I googled everything I could think of and couldn't come up with any clue, anything new to try would be helpful.
I was running Cyanogenmod 9 and ended up flashing the stock ROM but *NOTHING* helps.
Thanks,
Tim
Have you checked your APN settings?

Yes, I verified the APN settings. Even tried various other APN options that were recommended on other threads. Still nothing.
It's really weird, the signal displays sometimes 3, 4, or 5 bars and my other ATT phone works fine using the same SIM card.
Completely out in left field, but perhaps food for thought? http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=lyuGT3atgc8&desktop_uri=/watch?v=lyuGT3atgc8

Fixed - sent back to Samsung
I sent it back to Samsung for diagnostics. They said "Liquid damaged on PBA components" - which means the phone board assembly (main board).
Now I know for sure that I didn't get any liquid on any part of the phone what-so-ever, but since the repair was free, I'm not going to complain.
A suspicion is that the technicians are only given a few category codes to document the failure mode for the phone, and this seemed to be the closest one to the technician who looked at it.
What really happened is a mystery that may last for all time...
I can't wait to get the phone back so I can go rooted again!

The water damage indicators are in the screws you remove to get inside.

Huh - how do they know that? There wasn't any obvious way to know I tampered with it...

Maybe they watched you do the repair.
Bah
I have 2 Notes purchased second hand which exhibit the same symptoms. I tried everything, changing ROMs (including stock), modems, carrier unlocking, different SIM cards, restoring IMEIs, changed the power connecter board where I believe the cell ANT is, always got the 'Not Registered on Network' when trying to make a call. I could deactivate HSDPA and LTE in the service menu and still connect on the EDGE network.
There are a few threads on this subject, but the only way I've seen it resolved is sending the phone in for a replacement mainboard. Unfortunately that wasn't an option for me. Buyer Beware.
Well, I thought Samsung was going to repair it but they sent the phone back saying it was unrepairable.
They slapped a red dot behind where the battery sits and there's some kind of red plastic behind the antenna for the phone. So I know they took the back apart.
I called them and they said it's unrepairable, and I asked how can it be unrepairable - can't you repair the phone you invented? Anyway it's hard to get anywhere with them.
It's kind of weird though, everything works but no network lock.
Well, I guess I'll chock it up to experience and sell it on ebay and buy a used one.

Samsung refused to repair the unit under warranty - which is fine because I am responsible for breaking it and I don't expect them to pay for my mistake. However, I asked them to fix it and bill me for the damages and they said they couldn't repair it.
Huh, so I asked them how they can build such a nice and complex phone but can't figure out how to repair it?
They flat out refused so I asked to have it escalated.
The put me in contact with another customer service number and the first thing he asked was would I be willing to pay for the repair - of course! That's all I wanted in the first place.
Anyway, I paid $200 and this is the response concerning the problem and resolution. I should get the phone back by tomorrow in like new condition!

:crying: I have HTC One X+ 64gb Telus which is rooted,s-off and boot loader unlocked. I am using Elegancia 6.2.0. I don't know what happened to it. Suddenly Capacitive buttons are not working as light are working. In past it never dropped and I Nevar sit on it. I don't know why it happened. Now i am using LMT launcher from which I am not satisfied and thinking about repairing it. In my city there are no HTC service center but there is a collection point(I don't know what it is??? ) . I searched about this on Internet and found that it may be problem of Digitizer. So, My questions are:
1. By replacing LCD+Digitizer would solve this problem? If yes, then which variant should I buy SHARP or SONY version? As mine is Telus version.
2. Should I go to Collection Point in my city ?
3. Or should I take risk of doing dis-assembly of it ?
4. Or Should I buy a LCD+Digitizer from internet and do replacement by local mobile repairs?
PS: I bought it 2 months ago from ebay and it doesn't have manufacturer warranty. And sorry for my bad english
Bring it to an authorized repair shop or contact HTC and ship it in. Make sure that it is actually a hardware problem, and then have them replace it.
Try not to replace it yourself, there is a ton of adhesive and you might damage the phone as you need to use a suction device to remove the screen.
(I do believe the buttons are part of the lcd/digitizer assembly, but you might want to check with HTC support)

Hello
Today i experience tis Problem. My HTC One Max touch is automatically Working. it automatically touches in Top Left corner of the screen. I factory reset and remove scratch guard also. Still Have this problem. It automatically touches that area. I bought this in Dubai. I contact HTC customer support they said Service and Support are limited in india for Overseas devices. What can i do Now. Any Experts plz help. I already search internet for Spare parts. Found this in Here http://www.etradesupply.com/htc-one-max-digitizer-touch-screen-black.html
can i replace it myself. Plz help.
You could if you have a donor device and are good at small electronics. I've done it before.
I replaced a smashed screen and damaged LCD on an LG Optimus L90 D415 (T-Mobile) and the digitizer is responding in a mirror-image fashion. That is if I touch an area on the right side of the screen, the touch is registered in the same congruent location on the left and vice versa. This is consistent across the whole area. I turned on the Pointer Location in the Developer's Option and it did show the trace on the opposite side. Could this be a firmware issue rather than a hardware defect or damage?
I'm a phone repair technician, and I am comfortable with the repair I made. There was no damaging mistake in the installation. Visually, the part looked fine. And there was not mistake like a reverse or upside down connection (not possible with the design of this phone).
I don't know the history of the phone but TWRP and a custom ROM had been flashed to it. (Thunder XBlast? I think) . I then flashed Cyanogenmod 11 and then flashed a stock ROM that didn't include stock recovery or bootloader. With all three ROM's the same problem occurred.
The problem didn't seem consistent with a physically damaged or defected digitizer - no ghost touches, dead zones or inconsistent behavior. So because it had been rooted and a custom ROM flashed I thought it may actually be a firmware issue, so I brought it to this forum. Any ideas?
did you happen to solve the problem with the Lg L90 digitizer being mirrored? I'm experiencing the exact same problem with the LG L90 T Mobile version that I replace the digitizer on. I put a white one on as opposed to the black that it originally had from the manufacturer and was purchased on ebay and shipped from Westminster, Ca- I'm leaning towards it being a defective part-please let me of any solutions you came by-thank you so much for your time (phone is stock, not rooted)
Unfortunately, I have not found a solution to my digitizer problem, but your information is quite helpful. I too opted to get the white screen version off eBay from a company in Westminister, CA. It was what was most available and best priced. And the listing claimed it was compatible with D405 and D415. Mine is the T-Mobile version and was factory black. It appears then that it may not be a defect issue but a compatibility issue. And apparently it's not an effect from rooting or flashing a custom ROM since the same thing happened on your device that wasn't rooted. It would be nice if there was a software fix that would render it compatible. Incidentally, I paid around $30 for both the LCD and digitizer. Looking back on eBay just now I noticed the company has bumped the same parts up to almost $90. I'll have to check and see if I can still get an RMA and send it back. Let me know if you have any luck.

Having the same issue here, purchased the black ebay version from a seller in MO and installed today. Are the contacts on the small ribbon cable reversible?
Installed on an unrooted tmobile L90 D415, bought the phone about 3 weeks ago before it dropped (my case came in the mail that same day).
Im wondering if there's a "good" version of this digitizer available, wouldn't mind paying a few more bucks on a part that actually works correctly.
