igo 8.32 not working - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am trying to install IGO 8.32 on my HTC HD2 device with 8GB micro SD card.
After reading some threads I have installed and edited my SYS.txt file but the program will not run. What I see is that after starting the program it suddenly stops and closes just after writing the init.API line in the lower right hand side of the screen.
I have already tried playing with portrait / landscape modes without success.
I am running ROM 2.13.531.1, manila 2.5.20121412.2.
I would appreciate any idea or suggestion.
tnx

IGO8 does not work on HD2
Hi,
no reply so far so I wanted to try and limit my question...
Does anyone has a working version of IGO8 on HD2 with Artemis ROM?
if you do, can you please post you sys.txt file?
tnx

I use the following for v8.3.2.124260 (20091216) non TTS
sys.txt (copy to both SD Card and %Program Files%\iGO8 directory on device)
Code:
[project]
name="igo8_pda"
[device]
;type="HTC Touch HD T8282"
type="ALIAS_TOUCH HD"
[folders]
app="%SDCARD%/iGO8"
[interface]
maxzoom2d=6000000
show_exit=1
[map]
2dheadup=1
where you can choose your prefered
[device]
type=...
the selected (without semicolon means you cannot set the backlight settings in iGO, it uses the Autobacklight of the device.
the otherone you can set the backlight in iGO, by example bright at daylight and dark at night, using iGO's auto day night mode.
Some important system.ini settings (on SD Card, iGO\save\ folder)
Code:
[gps]
port="4"
baud="38400"
[rawdisplay]
driver="gdi"
highres="0"
There should/could be more values in system.ini, but they are user specific.

thank you for the reply and info.
I modified sys.txt as you explained, added system.ini file in the igo8/save folder (there was no other file there)
I am getting the same result which is, the programs exists after loading init.api.
I am running Artemis V18 can that make a difference?
any other idea you might have to resolve?
tnx

Same problem
I originally had igo8 working fine on Miri v10 (ROM 2.10) but after I installed a new NRG ROM (see my sig below) I have suffered the same problems as you. I also played around with the sys.txt file but this changed nothing.
It seems to me that it may be one of 3 things:
- maybe my flashing of the NRG ROM was not 'pure', so I will be reinstalling after I have run task 29 to ensure that there are no undesirable artifacts. Did you do this before flashing the Artemis ROM?
- maybe igo8 simply doesn't work well with something in the later ROMs or manila?
- maybe a different tweak/setting in our new ROMs is causing the problem (e.g. GPS setting, lockscreen etc.) and there is (in theory) a simple change of configuration that will fix it. I just haven't got a clue though what this might be!
Has anyone else changed settings (rather then sys.txt etc.) to get this work recently?

It might be worth unloading sense then starting iGO

mine isnt working either, ill give the stuff in here a shot!

I tried unloading sense for the installation and, separately, unloading sense for running the application but experienced the same running-but-not-running problem.

What iGO version???
I never had any problems with iGO (not on my Wizard, Kaiser or LEO). But I used the latest PDA versions only, in this case v8.3.2.124260 (2009/12/16).
I suggest you do a clean start:
- try to get the version I use (with 2577 auto install folder)
- uninstall your current iGO
- delete all iGO stuff from your device and storage card (backup iGO8\content folder)
- copy the newly acquired version to the SD (folders 2577 and iGO8)
- install by running the file autorun.exe in the 2577 folder.
- iGO should run automatically after installation (if required content is present).
If it starts, you can start customizing
Good luck !!

Still no luck...
I am grateful to webpatrick for his advice. i originally had 8.3.2.97313 (supplied on an SD card just a month or so ago) but updated this tonight through the naviextras toolbox to 8.3.2.138649 (even later than the version referred to in the post above) and installed via the 2577 folder auto install folder but encountered exactly the problem as above - the program suddenly stops and closes just after writing the init.API line. I will try again the sys.txt suggestions stated above but do not expect a different result.

I like, I dislike in the AP4 ROM.....

26/04/08 Update: some "i dislike" solved, check AP4 FAQ for solutions, Tips and Tricks
I am trying to open this thread to help AP cookers to have a single point to check for pro and cons in AP4, avoiding to post BUGS here.
Please explain WHY you dislike something
I've tested it for a while and:
I LIKE:
better battery life in my regular usage
the self portrait/landscape function
touchflo responce (after some tuning)
WM6.1 (SMS and IE)
Latest opera
Stability
I DISLIKE
The BIG htc home (to much home screen real estate used), and resources hungry too! (FULL SOLVED BELOW, 4th post)
The new USB Storage can't show the microdrive (PARTIALLY SOLVED BELOW, 4th post)
The slow keyboard responce (I've installed RESCO too, same delays) (FULL SOLVED BELOW, 4th post)
The comm manager without 3g enable/disable (good for battery saving purposes)
The flashing process, without any user control (I've copied the file unzipped during the installation process and i've dome some "reverse enigineering") I believe it could be done using a simpler command file, from command prompt windows, explaining step by step what is going on. Less "tricolours screen" and better debugging

thanx for the opinions and feedback. for the slow keyboard response i would try the tweak that turns off the et9. its found in the main thread and will come in the new version of the config app.
the comm mananger was already in the x7510 rom so i just kept it as it is. i see though that it would be a good idea to add the 3g. i need to check if this comm mananger supports changing its function like the one i have in my polaris rom. then i could just have cmonex add a new tab to the config app where u check what options you like in the comm mananger.
i believe the usb to pc tool when turned on to mass storage mode lets you add to the microdrive.
the big htc home can be replaced with the smaller qvga one via the addons rar.
the flash process you would need to discuss with olipro/cmonex. i though believe its as simple as possible right now but i could be wrong.
A problem, for my important one, is that it occupies much memory. It is to say..., in my single country exist maps for GARMIN XT and if I install MANILA to him DIALER does not load GARMIN to me XT by lack of memory, if I install plugins to him in the TODAY does not load the GARMIN to me by lack of memory...
in the AP3 no....
Some Dislike Solved
1. Big HTC Home
go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2053447&postcount=2
download addons.rar
unrar and install HTCHome_1025_721_ALL.cab
FASTER, also in portrait/landscape switching!
2. USB to Storage and Microdrive
Miletb suggest to change:
HLKM\Drivers\USB\FunctionDrivers\Mass_Storage_Clas s\DeviceName from DSK2:
to
DSK1:
it will work fine - transfer speed is also good
If you want storage card later you will need to change back to DSK2:
3. SLOW KB FEEDBACK:
PAWEL sugges to to change:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Layouts\e0010409]
"Layout Text"="eT9 IME"
"Ime File"="\\windows\\eT9ime.dll"
to
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Layouts\e0010409]
"Layout Text"="COMP IME"
"Ime File"="compime.dll"
this will fix 1)the suggestions dialog in sms/emails being missing 2)the accented characters 3)the slow Kb feedback
P.S. To reduce/cancel the TT landscape/portrait switching during driving, just tune the position of the gooseneck support. It is stable in my tests in landscape mode leaving the top 2 cm backward from the bottom (the top is closer to the windscreen). I drive a Nissan Pathfinder http://www.nissanusa.com/pathfinder/ and my tests were really HARD

sorry but I doubt what you did can be called "reverse engineering"
exactly what is your suggestion anyway? is the way HTC wrote ROMUpdateUtility.exe not good enough for you? or what did you mean, please elaborate.

Reverse engineering in simple words means to use tools to monitor the program execution, dump the memory used, the data flow trought the USB port, then to have a team analyzing all the info and trying to understand what's going on (and I have time, tools, and team)
I mean the process control. RUU is just a PART of the AP4 flashing process. If I want to flash AP4 again I can't do without flashing the SPL again.
You've built a new tool, NOT a plain RUU. AP3 new version is a plain RUU, AP4 IMHO is a batch process launching RUU, undocumented
I like to have a clear view of the processes, is hard to ask to HTC to show their processes, and you and olipro (and some others, POF is great too..) have done a good job in RUU reverse engineeering (RUU is a batch process too, from HTC...). I would like to have the AP4 .exe documented, having also the view of the .nbh and of the other tools used. May be others can build a new ROM to share, based on the new partitioned ATHENA!
The ATHENA flashed with your tool now is the WORST ATHENA in the world
1) no warranty, no way to go back
2) the only ROM available are AP3 and AP4. None can put a new ROM on it!
3) no official ROMs anymore
4) no "self cooked" ROMs anymore
PRACTICALLY SPEAKING IS NEEDED:
1) a simple tool to go back
AND/OR
2) a clear documentation of the changes done and the tools used
BTW I respect your good job, a tuned AP4 is a good ROM, and we are here to help ATHENA/AP4 to be the best device (and to play with knowledge)
3G button in comm manager solved
Just use schap's advanced configuration tool and ADD it Download it from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=367043
I've removed the push e-mail button because the AP4 comm mgr default layout can have 6 buttons only, and I've added the 3G on/off.
The tool could be "device customized" shoul be nice to have an ATHENA version....

so i guess i have the comm mananger in there that u can set what items you want in it. hehe ok there will 100% be a 4.1 I think that will be finally what people wanted from 4.0 and i'll make this one a public beta first so we wont have any issues like 4.0
thanks for your post, I might have previously misunderstand your word usage of RE. so what did you do exactly?
because you people were so impatient we just released AP4 and a flasher, if you all had waited patiently, you'd have got it with extras, such as AP4 vanilla (not requiring new SPL), a standalone AP4 full feature rom (with special NBH header so only new SPL will accept it so no risks!!), and a downgrader utility.
but you will get those anyway just wait a bit more patiently.
until then, if you have an urgent warranty problem and *must asap* downgrade to stock ROM, just let me know in a PM.
also, you are a bit wrong about flashing the SPL again - the AP4 flasher checks if you already got SPL 3.50 on, if you do have 3.50 then it will not reflash the SPL (as that would be pointless as we can agree).
what kind of documentation do you need of the AP4 flasher?
here's what it does:
1. you run the athenaupdater exe, it seems to be waiting for something while it extracts itsutils (pmemdump and stuff)
2. the something is to determine if the Athena is running WM or is put in bootloader (if some moron doesn't read the excellent HowTo a link to which is included at the athenaupdater download) - it does it in the following way: attempts to push pmemdump to the athena, if that fails then after 1 min of waiting it'll error out and shows you the ****sticks message
3. if it finds the athena running WM then it also checks the bootloader version by reading a fixed memory location. then compares bootloader version to 3.50, if it is 3.50 then it won't flash the new spl, if it is not 3.50 (can safely assume it is below 3.50) then launches RUU which then launches SSPL (named version 3.15 and will only accept signed SPL's, signed by public htcdevs cert) as the enterbootloader.exe
otherwise just launches RUU with normal enterbootloader and the overwrite protection of the SPL 3.50 won't let the SPL in the big NBH flash.
4. the NBH flashes and the athena is supposed to nicely reboot to AP4.
if you cancel the process you can be left with corrupt wifi/modelid.
+1: for extra safety the NBH has the special header already so no moron can flash it to SPL 1.20 if they manage to quickly put the device in bootloader after the pmemdump check ran.
well I think that's it.
one last question, what was the note about no self cooked roms?
it is entirely possible, you can take the nk.exe module either from AP4 or from AP3newSPL (or use AP3newSPL as base if you are afraid of xip) and use that to make your rom compatible with the new SPL.
and there'll be a downgrade tool anyway.

May be the best solution could be to build XML config file with AP4 cheats and import it into the Shaps default tool.
There are may tweaks in the "basic" tool usefull for AP4 too. Comm manager buttons and many others.
You have a great knowledge about AP4 and about the tweaks used, the fine tuning could be done using the Shaps tool, customized with your XML file as explained
From Schaps
(...) But things changed since 2.x releases, now you can add your own tweaks or translate Advanced Config. by yourself using XML files!
(...)
XML configuration files are named AdvancedConfig_XXXX.xml where XXXX is Locale ID (English and French available at the moment). They contain list of registry tweaks organized by categories.
Here is XML configuration file structure, which is quite simple:
Code:
<advancedconfig>
<category name="Category name" icon="Icon index">
<setting key="Registry key path" name="Registry value name" type="Registry value type">
<title>Tweak title</title>
<description>Tweak description</description>
<values default="Default value">
<value data="Value data 1">Value description 1</value>
<value data="Value data 2">Value description 1</value>
</values>
<restrict>
<value key="Registry key path" />
<value key="Registry key path" name="Registry value name"/>
<value key="Registry key path" name="Registry value name" data="Value data" />
<value key="Registry key path" name="Registry value name" data1="Value data 1" data2="Value data 2" data3="Value data 3" />
<devices>
<model>Device model 1</model>
<model>Device model 2</model>
</devices>
</restrict>
</setting>
</category>
</advancedconfig>Supported value types : integer, string, file, folder.
<values> tag can contain predefined value data for the tweak, which will be displayed in a list in Advanced Config.
<restrict> tag allows you to display the tweak only if it satisfies all the conditions bellow. In this example: Registry key must exist AND Registry value must exist AND value data must equal to specified data AND value data must equal one of those 3 value data AND device model must be one of those 2 models.
Don't hesitate to ask me if something is not enough clear.
You can download here English and French XML configuration files of the lastest Advanced Config. release (2.1.0.0), which is available in this sticky: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=317070.

Thank you, for the complete answer and the really interesting schedule
I am patient, as I told in other 3ds, and as many of us I like to play with WM6 knowledge.
I will suggest just a change in the schedule: Downgrader first, Vanilla second and AP4.1 (I've seen a lot of interesting improvements suggested from other users) third
So far these are my finding,
I LIKE:
1. the HTC and Athena Project logo - beautiful
2. the self portrait/landscape function – a little jumpy therefore disable it
3. touchflo response – excellence now I can brake
4. WM6.1 – no comments
5. Latest opera though not as responsive as IE, still trying hard diplomatically.
6. Stability – yes, as good as AP3
7. mic reception – great improvement compare to AP3, not sure is becuz of radio change, handfree call effortlessly
8. speed and memory – no issue so far with all my favorite sw running.
9. splash screen – beautifully done
10. HTC home – best with “ HTCHome_1025_721_ALL
11. AP 4.0 HTC X-Button – wonderful to kill background sw
12. WOW HD Setting – greatly improve audio quality in speaker and earpiece
13. GPS fix – better than before, could be due to radio version
14. Bluetooth - discovered range improved with my S705, never from AP3 or radio 1.50

Can't help myself
This thread is one of the most useful (meaning: if the info's not in here I have found it from what is here) about a ROM I have ever read.
More than that, I saw lots of potential for heated defensiveness, but somewhere that energy got sucked up (I hope it got burned off in the right place). I can't tell you how personally edifying it was for me to read such a grown-up and intelligent conversation in this forum.
I'm glad I have a x7501. Thanks.

[Q] Keypad Problems (w/ link to videos)

Update 1: I flashed NRG's latest 6.5 ROM. At first the keypad issues were not visible, but within an hour into use it popped up on me. I flashed back to my custom 6.5 ROM
Update 2: I saw that jmckeejr was nice enough to post the keypad.dll from the new official ROM so I cooked it into my 6.5 ROM. The problem has become worse. Now I have to press twice or even three times for anything to happen at all. I will try flashing back to WM 6.1 to see if the problem is still present.
Update 3: It seems that whenever I turn on my screen back on everything works again for a few seconds (30-40 seconds).
Update 4: I flashed to the official AT&T ROM that was released a few days ago. The problem is still present in 6.1. I'm afraid this may possibly be a hardware issue. I noted earlier that my phone showed three different build dates... does everyone else have three?
_____________________________________
Since build 21232 I've been having issues with my keypad. I cooked a ROM with the latest kitchen (21731/21806) and did not replace the keypad driver (like I've been doing lately) with an older one hoping that maybe the new build would solve the problems, but I continue to have them.
What I've been doing is replacing the new one with an older one from a previous build (21222) but I still seem to be having issues with it. For example, when I have the "Pictures" panel selected and I press the end button it doesn't go to the "Time" panel. It instead goes to the next picture. It does the same thing in all the panels that give you an option to go to a next item. Also when I press the call button to dial a number it does nothing, or it will open the start menu. Does anybody have any idea how to solve this?
Below are two videos showing what happens. Sorry for the crappy quality!

Yep, good ole 6.5. Not really using a version of 6.5 that is clean & prestine fro the Raphael.
This is an issue w/ WM6.5.
Strange. I don't have any similar problems. In my ROM's I don't include neither ezinput, nor xt9 (because of problems with keycodes in gba emulators). Could that be the explanation?

Why is it that I don't see this issue with other people here who run 6.5? I know of maybe two users with the same problem. It sucks because before 21232 everything was fine. If it wasn't because I was addicted to flashing and having the latest, I would've kept an older build.

Strange. I don't have any similar problems. In my ROM's I don't include neither ezinput, nor xt9 (because of problems with keycodes in gba emulators). Could that be the explanation?

I actually include both of those packages in my ROMs. I will make a ROM without them and then report back what happens.
What keyboard do you use other than EZInput?
EDIT: I've trying the ROM I just made without EZInput or XT9 and the problems are still there. I did a few soft resets and two hard resets and nothing.
yea strange. Are you using the latest keypad.dll that converts the Home key into a Start Menu key?
Or perhaps you have a bad optical sensor that interprets you pressing "Right" instead of End. I'm sure you know the touchpad's optical sensors work.
Right now I am using the latest Energy Rom. I would try a ROM built by another Chef and see if the problem is with your rom or your phone. The Keypad.dll can be copied into the Windows folder and will become active after a reset. So you should be able to download several different versions and try them without hard resetting or flashing.
Maybe you are reusing the same broken keypad.dll. Da_G posted the latest keypad.dll driver in the WM6.5 kitchen thread. It is the one I am using. It should be included in the last 3-4 kitchens, but I would recommend just manually copying it over to \Windows until you find a good version.
And perhaps the reason it doesn't show up until after you copy the file is because it is a Hidden ROM file vs just a normal file. If you use Resco File explorer, you can go into General options and uncheck "Hide Hidden and ROM files" (I uncheck everything). Then you should be able to see the keypad.dll before you copy it over.

With the last 3-4 kitchens I've been making ROMS with the new keypad.dll and given them a chance, but the problems are still there. When I replace the new keypad.dll with an old one the problems aren't as frequent, but they do still happen. So I'm pretty sure the problems are with the new keypad.dll.

I meant the actual kitchen sub folder on my PC. The keypad.dll in there won't show up, but it's there.
I will try flashing two different ROMS from other people and I will post what happens. Thanks for your advice.
Hmmm...I know quite a few with the issue. It seems intermitent & a few programs affect vKb codes, i.e. opera, which can also cause issues. It's funny though, for some reason if you press & hold the end key for a second, it works.
i just got home and bumped the thread. I'm surprised my post actually went through since I was getting a 500 Server error with XDA.
I'd like to know how things are going and see if this can be hammered out. Again I don't experience any such issues at all. Perhaps it is with a specific build of phones. Maybe they swapped parts midway.

I'm not sure if this is how it is with every Fuze, but I have three different build dates (I'm guessing that is what they are).
One is on the top and says: 10/18/08 Rev. G01
The other is on the right side and says: 08/01/08 Rev. B01
And the last one right above the "VOID" sticker says: US 10/07/08 Rev. US01
Could you check your phone to confirm that you also have three different dates?
Top:8/28/08 rev:g01
left:09/02/08 rev:b1
bottom:10/07/08 rev:us01
I'm confused. What do these dates mean? Why are they all different?
perhaps different build dates. They all are the same rev numbers.

***PROGRESS HAS STOPPED. THIS WAY WE WON'T OVERSTEP ANY LINES AND PUT ANYONE IN HOTWATER. WE BELIEVE THERE IS NO MORE NEED TO GO ANY FURTHER AND IN THE END HAVE PROVEN THAT THE CURRENT SECURITY OF THE MARKETPLACE IS NOT VERY GOOD***
I managed to get the official cab that Marketplace downloads... (so easy, just need to grab it before it deletes itself and one other move that most could figure out easily hehe)
It's v1.0.2201.0000
Now to try and hack it to storage card
EDIT: Added a version I made where you can choose storage card (WMMarketplace_sc). I wouldnt suggest installing that version to device. Use at your own risk
May need to play with reg settings

Edit: All Cabs from Thread have been collected into this first post and have been stripped of the DeviceID's
1. Original-WMMarketplace.cab The official cab downloaded by the older marketplaceclient.exe. Without Shortcuts.
2. Original-WMMarketplace_sc.cab Derived from official cab downloaded by the older cab which gives the opportunity to install to Storage Space. Without Shortcuts.
3. Short-WMMarketplace.cab The Official Cab but this time with an added Short cut to the App.
4. Short-WMMarketplace_sc.cab Derived from official cab downloaded by the older cab which gives the opportunity to install to Storage Space. With a short cut to the app.
5. XDA-Developers-patched-WMMarketplace_sc.cab Last version that can install to Storage Location and also adds apps Install to Storage Location from inside the Marketplace and makes a shortcut in Programs.

There are a couple of theories that are currently being tested so hopefully something will pop up shortly. I have been able to achieve a work around, but its not very convient (evidence here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591056)
The current way of installing is to use Setup.dll in the cab:

My one is the official cab
I was planning on checking SD card installation this weekend.
So Thanks a lot
And for the information around where did you find the switch to SD?
(did a comparison of the two versions and registr settings but found nothing to be pointing to the SD install change)
Also the Aman version that downloaded the rest of the needed files, after downloading those files, was still started through the old Marketplace.exe.
Does this version do it's jiggy without that old .exe?
Looks like it has a minimum need for .Net 3.5 Mobile.
this is the new version that amans downloads - that way you dont need his cab
aku reg change lets some users access marketplace (found in thread here somewhere but not in the cabs)
all i did to the cab was change the hardcoded install location (from \windows to %InstallDir%\Program Files)
Re-Write
What i meant was that The new market place does not create any shortcuts to itself.
So in the previous case WMMarketplace.exe would start WMMarketplaceFullClient.exe.
So if a user that never had WMMarketplace.exe, how would it ever start up WMMarketplaceFullClient.exe, besides going to windows folder and making the shortcut themselves as the cabs you posted do not make the links.
So in that case all that is needed is just a shortcut.
Pretty cool if all it takes to get SD install is installing it "Not into Windows"
ahhh, i see, will have to update (unless someelse can do it)
essentially it is: change install location and values for registry
shall have to add icon (which starts fullclient)
you need to select storage card as your install location. %instaldir% is like a wildcard and enables installing to storage card
Here they are then with the shortcuts, And added the Enable Widgets registry for supported devices just in case.
Now Back to work it's Coffee time
What i thought (and am interested into getting to work), is forcing the App store, to install Apps Store Apps to SD card and i thought that was what you meant.
Bummer, but that still leaves a little Chalenge to the next guy.
Also installing your/this _SC version gave me the US shop, instead of the NL shop i had forced upon me before.
And running the still installed to Memory (Downloaded by Aman's Cab) Previous Version will give me the NL shop.
Update:
Cabs have been moved to first post.
hmmm, i didnt check that. im in australia. im guessing it is one of the reg strings that do it (possibly one of the **** ones i posted - i copied them from another thread incase they are different for each user so thats prob why it is us shop)
i had a quick look for download location but nothing stood out so when i have time, i hope to find something. the thing is, it deletes cab files after installing them
can't be the registry strings as i can run both localized stores on one device.
So it might be there are actually different Cabs for different Locations.
I'll be moving your Thread to Dev And Hacking, as general get's less attention to check this localisation "Problem" (cool neat Feature) out.
hmmm...well since the second cab is derived from the first, that is strange
i used the reg entries from here for teh sc cab:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4683349&postcount=8153
Code:
"DeviceGuid"="c10b3661-WWWW-WWWW-WWWW-WWWWWWWWWW"
"DevicePuid"="0018BFFD804FXXXX"
"FedDocURLChkDate"=hex:00,00,40,0C,A9,B2,D2,41
those were the only different to my device
plus, im in australia, not us
Hmm, might have been a glitch in the MS appstore itself.
I am now no longer able to get the other US/AUS store.
Razzum frazzum..
Update:
Re installing the Cab again gave me the English Shop again.
So you are right it is related to the Reg's.
But these somehow get reset.
I don't have the time ATM to fully check out what is going on.
But if it is just the registry settings changing my Locale for the Shop, it should be fairly easy to make a locale switcher.
(i don't think i have US store as there's only 46 apps in there)
Yup running WMMarketplace.exe (The old one instead of the FullClient.exe) with an active GSM connection will change the ID to:
c183d069-WWWW-WWWW-WWWW-WWWWWWWWWWWW
For NL Region apps.
And
"DevicePuid"="0018BFFD804FXXXX"
"FedDocURLChkDate"=hex:00,00,40,0C,A9,B2,D2,41
Don't get Changed
The first Cab only had:
Code:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Security\Software\Microsoft\Marketplace]
"BootStrapInstalledPath"="\\Windows\\WMMarketplaceFullClient.exe"
"MarketInstallLocation"="\\Windows\\WMMarketplaceFullClient.exe"
I'm in the UK, and actually have a proper official WM6.5 device, running the OEM's rom.
DeviceGUID is 5c08e32a-WWWW-WWWW-WWWW-WWWWWWWWWWWW
However, I'm not convinced that the Locale is in there, not if they stick to their own rules. That SHOULD just be your devices unique ID.
We need 2 phones in the same locale to compare.
I put in your Device ID disconnected GSm and went in trough Wifi.
Now i have 52+ apps in the Store (can't see if this is actually Uk but it's different/more then the Previous asumed Australian one)
Could be that a part of the Device ID is used for the Locale though.
Could also be that their Servers remember the last Locale used by that Device ID and then present that shop to the device.
But second time i log back into marketplace (MarketPLaceFullClient.exe on SD) with GSM on i still get the same 52+ app store.
Time for some good old "Break and Testing".
I used
5c08e32a-WWWW-WWWW-WWWW-WWWWWWWWWW
As DeviceGuid
And i then got a new DeviceGuid assigned,
c685ebe2-WWWW-WWWW-WWWW-WWWWWWWWWW
And i can still see the (now correctly counted) 56 Apps Store version as oposed to the 4 Apps NL version i get starting it through The old Marketplace.exe.
WTFrag i just Found Microsoft Office Mobile Listed for 31,19 Pounds!!
Dunno if its of any interest (or if I am just plain dumb ), but test changing your locale (regions)...
I changed from Swedish to English (US) and all of the sudden I had s**tload of apps to choose from... I connected through wifi though, havent tested GPRS yet.

Good news
I would to try it out. Can you upload your android package here?
yes, nike users can use the package for the vogue. the problem for me was that nike could not wake up after sleeping because we have different key mapping than vogue or kaiser. how is ur battery life?
im on school right now.
when im home, ill upload a complete rip of my SD card.
what i've done is the following:
i downloaded the pack for the HTC kaiser/vogue etc.
then i used the default.txt from a android made for the htc niki.
the only thing i changed in there was change "Zimage" to "Zimage-monsha"
then i could just install the andoid on my sd card and run it.
i don't know about the battery life yet, i didn't test it very well yet.
it's pretty laggy though so it will need some very good improvements.
Did your data work? I also got eclaire runniung on nike on ext2 partition using the methods from the vogue forums, but I noticed some issues:
- No data
- Slow
- I Tried to patch the new 3d driver stuff into the kernel. Afterwards i had accellerated graphics without textures (live wallpapers). But i have the same issue on some combinations of older builds, kernels and rootfs.
I also tried other builds from ext2 (all without rootfs, no working data on any of them , but it seems like the old versions with rootfs work better (-> data works)
i did not test it anymore.
i was at school.
rightnow im at home, so ill make a rip of my sd card, this is not formatted in ext2 or something.
i just deleted all the data on the sd card, and i just installed it.
it will take a while to upload, cause its pretty big.
right now im going to upload the .rar file.
it is 115 MB big, so make sure your sd-card is bigger than 512 MB

i tryed with sleepmode on 0, and it just worken, also on 1 it just worked.
i do not know how to see if full sleep is working, but it could be also working on the HTC Touch-Dual *NIKI*
set pm.sleep_mode=4. Data don´t work. Data don´t work on Nike with more new Android OS like donuts(1.6) or eclair(2.1) only in olders like android 1.5. Nike handsets lacks of android developers. We have no luck like Polaris/Vogue/Kaiser/Diamond users
i know, but i edited the default.txt a lil, by changing the resolution, i had less lagg, but it does not show the whole screen :S
even when im using the resolution of the screen :X
if u set the sleepmode to 0, can u wake the device? i never been able to. could u post just your default.txt here? anyway, data is working for me.
Running
I tried this, i'ts running, here's my report:
1. I cannot make a call (incoming or outcome).
2. I cannot send the SMS
but the operators carries found..

yes it awakes then.
and i did not test it with sim yet, the first thing i wanted to do is a good fast stable android build.
i found one, only one problem:
you cannot install it on your niki, i have to take the data.img and system.img from a HTC Kaiser(which uses my dad)
i already got a rip, right now im going to test if that works.
then i will delete all settings in there, and upload it here, one thing; it is REALLY fast!!

Data don´t work on Nike with the more newest android builts. We lack developers
I noticed that data works on eclair and donut, but the connection drops after a (very) short time. Sometimes I was able to load one or two webpages after a fresh boot until the connection went down (20Key Nike, O2 Germany). I also got google sync once working for a few seconds (enough to fetch mail).
So it seems to be more a stability issue than a general lack of data connection.
Does anyone have developent experience with android? I am now compiling the eclair build with the latest libraries from the vogue andoid git tree, but if someone already knows were the data problem is or what it could be i could find a faster solution, any in the development would be great.

It´s true. It is like get freezed. If you go to modem and you want to disconnect it say disconnected but you can see still the icon and sometimes the up arrow. After this if you want to turn off the hanset you can´t and its needed a soft reset. So after get connect and with a luck to browse two webpages it get freezed

DevPrep (Device Prep)

This is my first contribution to xda-developers.com, and hope that someone finds it useful.
DevPrep (Device Prep) is intended to be a replacement for user customisation using autorun.exe or runcc.exe. It has more options than these tools, and supports the following commands: -
CAB - CAB file installation
CFG - Include another config file for processing
CPY1 - The first part of the copy command, specifying the source file name
CPY2 - The second part of the copy command, specifying the destination file name
DEBUG - (Enable/Disable) Turns debugging on or off, which creates a .log file in the same path as your config file
DELE - Deletes a specified file
ERR - (Enable/Disable) Turns error reporting on or off, so that errors are either displayed in the interface, or ignored
EXEC - Allows an executable to be run, or a CAB file to be installed interactively when used with the HIDE or LOCK commands
HIDE - (Enable/Disable) Allows other applications to take the focus away from the DevPrep tool, to allow user interaction to take place (e.g. interactive CAB installs)
LOCK - (Enable/Disable) The same as the HIDE command, but in reverse (i.e. LOCK: Enable is the same as HIDE: Disable)
RST - Resets the device (should be the last command specified, as DevPrep will not continue processing after this)
XML - Processes XML configuration and provisioning files
The commands are used in the same way as autorun.exe and runcc.exe, (for example "CAB: \Storage Card\myfile.cab") however the spaces between the command and the parameter aren't important.
Rather than cooking DevPrep directly in to the ROM, there is a DevPrepLauncher utility that can be cooked in and launches DevPrep.exe from the storage card. If DevPrep doesn't exist, it just ignores it.
This way if there are updates to DevPrep, the new version can just be copied to the storage card without needing to re-flash.
Both the OEM package for DevPrepLaunch and the CAB file for DevPrep are attached. Install the CAB file to the Storage Card.

Wow!
I was just looking for something like this. I have never used a tool like this before. But the Imagio (my phone) just got HSPL'd. So I am thinking about using something like this. Do you mind a noob question? So- if I set this up, after I flash a ROM or do a hard reset- I could set this up to auto install all my .cabs? Do I need both "DevPrep.cab" and "DevPrepLaunch.zip" what is the difference?

Yep, you can use it to re-install your .cabs. You can also use RunCC.exe or autorun.exe, but I wrote this tool because I had issues with the interactive installations.
You need DevPrepLaunch if you are cooking your own ROM and you want it to start automatically when you do a hard reset.
If you aren't cooking your own ROM, you can just install DevPrep.cab and then run it manually.
Thanks
Thanks for the reply. I am still waiting to flash a ROM. Nothing out yet I am interested in. But when I do I might try this. Is it very complicated to set up? And- what do I do if I set it up on my phone, then flash a new ROM- wouldn't it be wiped off the phone?

Yeah, that's right, it would get wiped after every new flash so you would need to cook the DevPrepLauncher in to your ROM that way it is kept there.
Another option is to just run it manually off the storage card after you hard reset.

Duh to me! It will be on the storage card. Not the device memory. So all of the settings are safe? I mean- after I flash- I would just install it again and run it? I wouldn't have to set it all up all over again?

Yep, that's right. So, for example, the directory structure might look like this: -
\Storage Card\DevPrep\Application\DevPrep.exe <-- The application
\Storage Card\DevPrep\Config.txt <-- The config file with the commands (installing cabs, settings preferences, etc...)
\Storage Card\DevPrep\Installs\myApplication.cab <-- An application you want to install
\Storage Card\DevPrep\Settings\mySettings.xml <-- Some preferences you want to apply
Awesome!!
I just fell off my chair reading your thread. Just after finishing these threads ;
First read this to understand User Customization and filling SDConfig.txt;
ROM Chefs: SDAutoRun gives customziation to everybody!
While reading, in a way, I replaced 'SDAutoRun' with 'DevPrepLauncher' and 'AutoRun' in \Windows\ with 'DevPrep' on \Storage Card\
[GUIDE] 60 Universal Tutorials for Customizing any Device and Cooking
[App] ROM Flashing Junkies: User Customization is here!
Within this thread there is an application called SDConfig.txt creator which was created by DoeDoe's. Currently it is replaced by;
[Release] UC ROM SDConfig.txt Builder (reborn) [Prikolchik Ed.]
and ofcourse;
SDConfig.txt Builder Mobile by l3v5y

I'm adding your application too! What a contribution
Thanks a lot matm,

Thanks Senax!
tried it...
Hello- I had some time the other day so I sat down to try and figure out the app. I installed on my storage card. Did a soft reset. Ran the app. It went to the "Preparing Device" screen and stayed there for about 30 minutes. Does it take longer than that? I gave up.
I have the HTC Imagio (Whitestone) WinMo 6.5. Custom Rom. But it is very near stock -only removed Sense and Verizon Wireless needless software.
Thanks for any pointers.
Will someone just attach the files to a post here. I hate spending half a day trying to get an 85 kb cab file since rapidshare always thinks I'm downloading another file (probably because of the network I'm on). Thanks.

So after reading your reply it suddenly dawned on me -I have no idea what I am doing. So it is not your app it is me (pretty sure). I thought I would open it and then it would walk me through setting it all up. Now I am thinking that I need to write up a "Config file". No idea how to do that. So I am probably a lost cause. I am guessing you use notepad or something? Anyways -sorry.
