850/1900 UMTS/HSPA Heros? - Hero, G2 Touch Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm looking for a (3G) 850/1900 HERO, to use with AT&T.
Wikipedia says that the US version of the HERO is like that.
But i have seen many contradictory information. Can anybody confirm, what versions are UMTS/HSPA 850/1900?
USA: 850/1900 ?
Europe: 900/2100 ?
Canada: ???/????? ?
Thanks.

OK, i found out this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=580418 by searching, so it looks like:}
HTC Hero 130 (A6265): Telus: UMTS850, UMTS1900
HTC Hero 100 (A6262): TMobile G2: UMTS900, UMTS2100: T-Mobile G2
Do not care about Verizon Hero (CDMA800 / CDMA1900) and Sprint Hero (CDMA800, CDMA1900), cause they use CDMA.
Anybody else carries the A6265/130? Is this 100% reliable?

HTC S740 and HTC S743 Is there a Difference?

I was wondering if there is any difference in HTC S740 and HTC S743? or is it one of those marketing scheme. S740 for Europe and S743 for USA?
When I go to www.gsmarena.com and type HTC S743, it shows the specifications for HTC S740.
Can someone please let me know? Thank you and I appreciate your time.
I think that the s743 does not have radio, but I'm not so sure about that.
Yes, FM radio is one. MAJOR difference is in support of different 3G networks frequencies - models with american band (900/2100 MHz) are usually introduced few months later after European versions working on 850/1900 MHz.
Using other words - European version will work in US but without broadband support and vice-versa.
Rose
The Bands are backwards
850/1900 are USA
900/2100 are Europe
Oops... ;-) You're right.
how aboun an s743 in europe?is it going to work?

north american version?

I heard the htc hero passed the fcc with 850/1900 3g bands.
There is a retailer claiming that they have this version, but can anyone confirm if they are correct?
What retailer? I am very, very curious!
they confirmed that it didnt have the bands. Darn.
See this thread

Telus are going to release a umts 850 version in a month or two (fingers crossed). Its the Hero 130, the Euro version is the Hero 100 and the Sprint CDMA version is the Hero 200.

[Q] HTC HD2 T8585 does not work on the Bell network????

hey there people,
I've had my HTC HD2 T8585 for almost a year now and have been on the Rogers Canada network ever since.
Recently, Bell Mobility setup some new towers in my location with HSPA+
Since I was stuck and Rogers (until now they only had GSM in my area) and wanted to switch to Bell which I now did.... my phone does not pick up the new network.
I know that my phone has the hardware and software to support the new network.... right?
I'm out of ideas and am open to new ones.... anyone?
Yes sir, your device is equipped to work on a HSDPA network.
just a question, witch radio/ROM version do you have?
Hi,
Your phone will not work at all on bell, not even in 2g mode. It will not work with Telus either. The reason for this is your radio bands. The t8585 supports the following: GSM850, GSM900, GSM1800, GSM1900, UMTS900, UMTS2100 but not UMTS850 or UMTS 1900 which is required for Bell and Telus. UMTS is another word for HSPA. The GSM is the older technology network used by Rogers and Fido. Bell and Telus used cdma for their older network and your phone does not work on cdma network.
On Rogers, you used the older gsm frequencies (GSM850, GSM900, GSM1800, GSM1900, ) to get voice and possibly data (2g speed). The rogers HSPA frequency is the same as Telus and Bell so you can't get HSPA speeds on Rogers or Fido either. I am not sure about Wind but Videotron requires both 1700 and 2100 frequencies so no luck there either. FYI Fido supports the same frequencies as Rogers.
This is a hardware issue with your antenna and you cannot fix this by installing software, another radio or a rom.
The only model of hd2 to get high speed in Canada is the t9193. Always look at the supported frequencies prior to buying phones as not all will work in Canada.
IMO you either go back to Rogers or Fido or change phones.
The t9193 is sold by Telstra in Australia. That is where I got mine.
If you are looking at an hd7 (similar to hd2 but with wp7) it will only work on videotron or Wind.
Good luck

Based on the device models, all HD2 are the same with only one exception and that is the USA T-Mouse HD2 device.
Take a look for comparing; link
Yes, all HD2's support GPRS/EDGE on any GSM carrier worldwide, however, the T-Mobile US HD2 only has support for T-Mobile US 3G bands, and may or may not recieve 3G data from a carrier in India.

Hi friend..
well as i can read on Wikip.edia, Telus and Bell Mobility work on HSPA 850 & 1900 MHz. At&T, work on HSPA 850 & 1900 MHz and also on GSM 850 & 1900 MHz.
In the specifications of Mozart by HTC site you can see:
HSPA/WCDMA: 900/2100 MHz
GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
so i think Mozart can work good only on AT&T that have GSM protocol.... but i saw also on Canadian HTC site and i found that HCT provide HTC Surround branded Telus... i search for specifications and i see:
UMTS/HSPA – 850/1900/2100Mhz
Quad-band GSM/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900Mhz
..practically the same!
I cannot try that cause im in Italy... but i think it work good too.
Hope i helped you a bit! SEE YAA
