Replacement Eris - Droid Eris General

Can anyone confirm what the replacement for the Eris is currently? Is it a refurbished Eris, or the Incredible?

they will not send u an incredible , and as i just got a replacement and they sent me a motodroid , the incredible is back ordered until the middle of july and they will not offer it to u, the eris was outta stock as of the other day they were waitin to get more in

2 days ago I received a replacement Eris, which seems to be working free of hang ups and without glitches. Old Eris was on 2.1 leak 3 and had many issues.

Wait, if you give them an old broken Eris (now that the Eris is discontinued) is it possible they will just give you a moto droid?

I want to upgrade to a Droid -- Help?

I love my eris and all but god damn I just can't take the trackball issues and I figure I may as well just opt out for the better phone...
I am on a two year contract though and I'm not even halfway through yet.
If I take my faulty Eris in to a Verizon store and ask them about an upgrade is it possible for me to just pay the difference for the droid? How will this work?
Oh and if the Verizon store is "out" of the Eris will they just give it to me?

No, they will tell you to call the customer service line and have them send you a replacement because the store has limited access where customer service can search warehouses nationwide.
=\ lame. But is there any way I can get the droid anyway? Regardless of whether they have Eris's or not?
Maybe for a discounted price. I was having issues with my Touch Pro that I had to get replaced 3 times and they offered me a Droid Eris for $130 or a Droid for $212. I took the Eris.

Call customer service. Tell them you want to upgrade early. Be friendly with them when they say no. Let them knwo you have been a customer for X amount of yrs and pay on time (this wont work if u dont pay on time or a fairly new customer) and if that you love their network and want to stay with it and if they could talk to their mgr to get it approved for an early upgrade.
Ive done this 3 times. Got 3 phones in 1 YR. But ive been a customer for 8YRS and a bill over a few hundred each month and pay on time.
Will this work for you? Maybe, but it doesnt hurt to try, right? Good luck.
FYI, this worked for me again getting the Droid X but I canned it after reading up more on it.
I've been a customer for... 5 years >_> lol
you canned the droid x? O_O I hope not because of the root thing? That'll be solved fast.
Maybe it was the motoblur thing that's what got me

Verizon just sent me a phone for trackball issues(suppose to be here tomorrow), I asked about switching they flat out said no.... he also hinted that they don't useaslly make that offer until they have switched a phone 2-3 times for defects ... but I will be happy with a rooted eris with a trackball that works, only reason I didn't return it earlier is I didn't want to lose root
good luck ad let us know...some say it's all about who you talk too
I may go today... I'm so lazy >_>

Replacement Eris

So can anyone confirm that Verizon still has replacement Eris's or not. Awhile back I read about a guy getting a moto droid as a replacement for the eris because Vzw was "out" of the Eris. But now it's to my understanding that people are still receiving replacement erises. It is also to my understanding that the incredible was specifically made to "replace" the eris. So if today I did an insurance claim with Verizon, any ideas what phone I would be receiving
My sister got a boot loop from the july ota last friday and got a replacement 5 days later and that was only because it happened on a friday it had two day shipping, but it didn't ship till monday. But it is a refurb.

it should be an eris but its the luck of the draw, im sure they got plenty of refurb eris' right now on hand, lol. i wouldnt expect an incredible, as nice as thatd be.
I got a eris replacement twice, I was trying to get a droid lol. I'm diggin my eris now with the WW rom though.

So incase you haven't read that story hurry up and READ IT! I want to get in on this deal but it poses a problem my crapball is fine. How can I break it?
Sent from my FroyoEris using XDA App
that would be really nice, but correct me if im wrong but if its under a year old isnt the warranty still with verizon and not asurion?
If they offered me an Incredible or D2 I'd leave with the Incredible. The D2 isn't rooted yet and only has a 5mp camera compared to the 8mp that the Incredible has. Kinda wish my trackball would mess up...but give me prior notice so I could unroot it first.

Think it's mainly talking about the insurance, not the warranty.
I've been patiently waiting for this...I'm ready to unload this under powered eris. Just waiting for the right chance to get something else

You have to wait for the Eris to be out of stock for replacements in order to get something else. I tired it and they said they could send me a Devour or Ally. I promptly told them hell no, and said Eris or better. They said Eris is then all we can do. I said sure why not.

you tried through asurion or verizon?
verizon as the rumors suggested. Now I hear that Droid owners who are calling vzw with an issue are getting D2's(or in some cases Incredible's or X) instead because they don't have any replacement Droids in stock at this point in time(and they won't for a while).
This is in fact true! I'm currently on my 4th Eris. My speaker went dead last night. Called Verizon today. Incredible in my hands Wednesday. Cost me zero dollars. It's warranty only, not through Asurion, and I believe you have to have had a few replacements already. Woot! Incredible on Wednesday!

i just called in and they are sending me my fourth eris. Guess we dont all get a new incredible.
Verizon offered me a Devour or some other POS today.
So, If I am not happy with my Eris(mainly because of the lower end hardware vs even the Droid), should I just get the OG Droid off ebay for like $200 and then sell my Eris for $125. Then wait until October-November to call in and see what I get? Or should I try to call again and again to see if I can get something besides the Devour/Ally? BTW which has the better audio quality the Eris, Ally or the Droid?
It just comes down to what they have on hand. I'm currently waiting on my fourth Eris but if the stars align I'll make a post. I had to ***** like hell to get this one because the water damage sticker was pink.

Just call and tell them that but no guarantees on them giving you a different phone. I didn't even bother to because I hate talking to costumer service. If you are out of contract your best bet would be to talk to a customer retention specialist about your issue.

Talk to tech support, not customer service. Let them know your disdain for the phone and how you'd upgrade but your upgrade date is so far off. Maybe I got lucky with a cool tech, i dunno. One more day!

Possible trade for Droix x2

I might trade my Thunderbolt for a Droidx2 tomorrow.. any thoughts? I had the first X and I loved it. I traded it for an incredible for the roms.
Can anyone confirm or deny the following:
x2's camera > TB
x2's video/gaming > TB
4g is a plus but not a dealbreaker for me.
my opinion: i like motoblur over sense (if i don't modify, which is a reason i am considering trading)
any input would be great. i know it is late, especially on the east coast but i am hoping for some quick responses. thanks

Up to you man. The TB is definitely more desirable due to custom ROMs. However, this phone is future proof, and based on the recent acquisition, we might be in good shape. P3's preroot is money debloated...

it is, arguably, a hassle due to the 4g. sometimes you will lose 4g and need to flash a new radio/kernel/rom and no one else will experience the same issue.
has an OTA been released with gingerbread yet?
Yes but it's recommended to use p3s prerooted gingerbread, and other than the 4g the X2 stomps the Thunderbolt

yep, i am going to do it.
just put my TB back to stock and it runs so much better haha. the downside of that is the fact i hate sense and it is a total battery hog.
is netflix available for the x2 stock? or does the x2 need to be rooted with a modded netflix app?

I would very much recommend using the eclipse rom as well... Very simple process and very much improved over stock
from my X2 roaming the north
After playing around with a Thunderbolt and an X2 i defaulted to the X2, and I must say with all the tweaking I've done it is hands down the best phone I've ever had.
Never owning a TB but having owned the X and now an X2 I like the X2 for its speed but the memory is a little lacking every now and then a game will tell me the memory is low and that it may close unexpectedly. I have always liked the Moto quality for reception and other components and having toyed with a few other HTC phones, locked bootloader and all Moto still gets my bet too.
I came from a Thunderbolt. The lack of roms on the x2 makes me sad considering the large dev support for the tbolt. Honestly, the proformance of a non overclocked cm7 bolt was about the same as the x2 in the real world.

Don't know about the tbolt, but there were so many missed call issues on the fascinate that Samsung sponsored a swap thru vzw for fascinate owners. We got to choose between the x2, the dinc2 or the charge.

I have switched many phones on my Verizon contract and never charged . Why would they charge you , you are still paying for their service .
If flashing custom roms and 4g is important to you, then go for it. The X2 should be getting more dev support soon..hopefully..
Oh and I'm pretty sure the TB's camera is better than the X2's. Consumer Report rated it as the #2 or #4, I can't remember, best cell phone camera. The X was last, and it has the same camera as the X2.

The conventional wisdom is that Verizon allows you to "upgrade" (at the upgrade price) only once every 24 months. While you can trade "upgrades" between various phones on your service contract, you must pay the full retail price of the phone to change phones before being eligible to upgrade.
When I got the X2, I asked if I could trade it for a Samsung Galaxy S2, if that were to be released in the next few months. They said that after 14 days I was stuck with the phone until upgrade time. They said they never resell a used phone, even if returned within the original 14 days. They told me they send them back to Verizon who "refurbishes" them and then they may resell them at a discount online.
So I'm still wondering how you are able to work out these trade deals? Anyone else ever hear of this, other than the Samsung sponsored offer?

Your thinking wayyyyy toooo much ....
lol, lets say you find a phone on craigslist and you want it . First you check esn to ensure it can be activated on another account , then if you like it , then simply get it and swap your phones on your Verizon account .. Understand now ? It really is , just that simple .

Oh. Well yeah, you can do that.
Before trading out for a droid x2 you may want to look into all the audio problems people have reported. I personally have experienced very bad audio skipping while using my x2 and no hacks tips tricks super charges or roms have resolved the problem. I keep my fingers crossed for a solution but if I were you and liked listening to Pandora Slacker or any other audio on my phone I would stay away from the x2 for now

Verizon Tech Support giving away Rezounds

a buddy of mine told me that if you currently own a tbolt and call Verizon Wireless complaining about certain issues, they replace it with a Rezound. Has anyone heard anything about this?
If you get your Thunderbolt replaced for valid insurance purposes, they will replace it with a rezound since most, but not all, Verizon stores are out of Thunderbolts.
Some times, though, you won't be offered a rezound. Rather, you may get offered a LG Revolution... which sucks.
There is a post about it here:

You have to push a little if they don't offer it. We got my wife's Charge replaced with a Rezound last night. Took some prodding, they wanted to offer a Stratosphere or Spectrum or Nexus. When we pushed, they offered the Rezound or Bionic as well.
Just had my Thunderbolt replaced for a broken screen through the insurance of Verizon and I still got a Tbolt for a replacement . Guess they found some more.....

Same here. When I talked to the Rep at Asurion about my phone (sucky data connection) I hinted about the rezoned replacement. He told me that they have plenty of TBs around. Which is fine, I like the TB when it's working, with a good ROM it doesn't really matter what the phone is to me.

I think he's talking about my phone being replaced under the phone insurance program (Asurion). This is my 3rd TB from them so I think it's paid off. It's the first phone I bought insurance on and I'm glad I did. Having to cough up several hundred dollars for a new phone would suck.
Edit: Looks like they are out of refurbs at Asurion. I got a brand spanking new TB yesterday. It works beautifully (for now) I'm going to let it sit stock for a few days to make sure but then Jester's ICS will be on there in no time.

The Rezound. Personal preference, but the big part for me is the SD card. Yes, the Nexus has a slightly larger screen, and is, well, a Nexus device, but overall I just really have liked HTC's devices.

I know this was already answered but I thought I would share my (almost) awesome experience. Went into Big Red last week with my dead bolt. It's a friggin LG Lucid Went back to Verizon and eventually got another bolt. Just goes to show you never know what these guys will do.
