Hi all
I want to start numbering pictures from a high number (100001) to have all them alphabetically ordered (now 51 goes first than 432 for instance) but I can't
Any idea?
Thank you!
Hi
I am not sure I understand what you mean, but it sounds like you could use a "serial do-pictures-whatever" like XnView (more functions with the PC than with the PPC version, of course, but both allow apply transformations to various selected pictures at the same time)

Thank you for your reply. I mean: If you hard reset, and you take some pictures, they are numbered as:
PH_1, PH_2, PH_3...and so on.
Instead I'd like to number them as
PH_10000001, PH_10000002, PH_10000003......
Is it possible??
Well I did not check with so many zeros, only 10001, and it worked.
With XnView, even the PPC version, you can select your pictures (using keyboard Alt like on pc, after adjusting windows to see both keyboard and pictures), then, Util > renommer par lots > there you can chose name, extension, first number, and increment.
The PC version is more complex... and offers more serial changes (like effects), not only size, contrast, rotation...
Maybe you can google for an XnView pocket in your own language, or at least english.

Yes, bro, I have XnViev. But what do you say is to rename pictures AFTER take them.
I'm asking to number pictures WHEN you take the photo.(not re-number)

Then, it would be in registry? near where you go to change camera sound? (I think there was something about this in the forum) Could be found exploring camera registry looking for "PH"? Or is there nothing to be found there?
I would not dare advising anything come to that...

Yes you're right, Perhaps this is the way. I have not found the stirng "PH_"
Many thanks!
Assuming the PH in:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Pictures\Camera\GeneralSettings\PhotoCounter\ : Prefix PH
is the one, maybe the zero there near stands for default first number?

You are the MAN! Thank you my friend, you have found the solution:
Changing the register Key Counter exactly where you said, from the present number to the desired one, it does exactly what I was looking for!!
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Pictures\Camera\GeneralSettings\PhotoCounter\ Counter
I've changed the Counter to 100001
After that, I've taken some pictures:
PH_100001, PH_100002, PH_100003, PH_100004....and so on
Many Thanks!! I mark this Thread as SOLVED
(By the way, as you said, you can replace the original "PH_" for "Image ", "Picture_", etc.)
Or you can do what I do and use a program called "IMAGToDate" which scans your photo dir and renames the files according to the date stamp! Works very well for me.

Thank you for the information. Very interesting. But it would be perfect if this was a software working "in the shadow", I mean, when you are taking the photo, not in batch after that.
Anyway, as they say:
You’ll probably hate the way Camera application saves the image file, which was “IMAG####.jpg”. This kind of naming will cause a problem when backing up the image files in your PC/MAC specially when the file already exists in your backup drive but different picture, the only thing you could do is to rename the file in your mobile device. For example, you have “IMAG0050.jpg” in your mobile phone and you want to move that in your PC/MAC but a file “IMAG0050.jpg” already exists but has different picture? Probably the first thing you’ll do is to rename “IMAG0050.jpg” in your mobile device into something different.
This used to be my problem, but numbering as 1000001, is enought for me (I think that never will achieve a million pictures with my TG01)

Hi all I've tried PPC2003 from Jeff Summer Kitchen with 4.00.11.eng ver Rom basic. After I tried to install several software back I notice it is quite a lot of nice software won't work normaly in PPC2003PE. Because I'm only a regular user I just want to share several story of my own. And Tips from all of you guys if you have the problem solver.
1. Caller2Picture: Can be installed, but won't wok with all contact. Very strange only several contact work with this software
2. Omega baterry pack 2003: Can be installed, work well. But if you select the mode tap 'x' direct close program and do soft reset after it the software will crash. You will get back only untill first bootdisplay and nothing happen after all.
3. Pocket Plus: Can't be installed in PPC2003PE at all.
NB: I think menu for direct close program with tap 'x' icon very usefull for us. Because it reduce the risk of run out memory in our device. But as far as I get there is NO other alternatif software that can do this in PPC2003PE. If anybody could give me a tips I'm very thankful.
1: Caller2Picture only works if the caller is sending his/her ID along.
2: Don't use this.
3: A 2003 update of PocketPlus is out and works fine.
Wow...., thanks Leo.
But Imean the bug from caller2picture is you only can assign picture and ringtone to random contact name only not all from contact name means that if you try to assign the picture and ringtone to certain contact the "caller2picture" couldn't recognise the contact that we have. In the name bar will appers none and contact number blank. Not as usual, the contact name automaticly appears on the name and the contact number will show all, if we have more than one phone number for the contact in our list.

My experience exactly. I'm a fan of several battery pack features. I use the PocketNav available on the Kitchen to replace some of the menu/program closing utility of Battery Pack, but still liked Battery Pack better overall.
Clearly there's a conflict if you have both PocketNav and Battery Pack 2003 installed at same time... Tried this and they both occupy the same space on the menu bar and fight with each other for control. Are you running both, or did you find that Battery Pack did not work, even in the absence of PocketNav?

Dear,
I found similar symtoms mentioned. Here is what I did to get around the problems
1. Try alter some details in the contact that the program does not recognize (i.e. shorten the name of the contact, etc.)
2. Ignore the "None" sign and manually type in the phone number of the contact yourself. This has limitations, though works pretty well with the incoming calls that normally not supported by the prog. That is you cannot work with more than one number/contact.
Anyway, I always prefer the second getaround. It works pretty fine except for the shortcoming mentioned

Dear,
If you wish to use MSMoney on your wm2003 platform, here is my recommendation
1. After the installation, your device will show "incompatibility" sign, do NOT press ok at the warning sign
2. Use your Pocket Explorer to locate the .CAB file of MS Money (can either be in the device or in SD Card, depending on what you choose in the first place)
3. Use .CAB installer to install MS Money onto your device
4. After the installion, press OK at the waring sign.
5. Here you go
HTH
I tried that, but when I try to run the cab file I get an error message telling me it cant find the file. I know its there because I just clicked on it.

3 Players now that work with the external screen:
WMP, Pocket Player, and HTC Audio Manager!
For HTC Audio Manager, go here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=313550
Take the contents of the "AudioManager" Folder and extract them all to your /windows/ directory (NOT just the folder, the files inside the folder need to be take out and put in the windows directory).
Using a registry explorer, go to HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\SecondaryDsp
There should already be a registry entry there called "AudioManager", if it's there, set it to "1".
If it's not there, create it and set it to one (I can't say for sure if it'll work or not though).
Restart your phone, and voila! A new, working MediaPlayer!
In the original topic, rickwyatt says "put in on your storage card".
As I have just 4MB storage left, I want to put it on my storage card. Is it possible?
Also, what advantage over WMP does HTC AM have?
yes it is possible to install on storage/storage card, cab-installer made by me is available here:
http://ren.redsys.ru/_private/HTC.Audio.Manager.WCE.BY.cab
But you need to copy all these files to \Windows\ directory to make it on external screen
It seems Audio Manager files should be extracted to \windows, if the external music keys need to work with it. Also the 'AudioManager' registry value is not found by default, so create it as a new DWORD value and assign it with '1'.
Yet I don't see any value this Audio Manager brings over on top of WMP, though it has a nice ipod like interface and supports playlists. Anyone found anything interesting about this new AM?
oh hell no dont intall this program, its not worth it.
Very diffcult to add playlist you have to add files one at a time
I was hoping an equalizer but does not have one
Im struggling to remove and set the buttons back to for WM player.
Damn stupid fucl<ing program

Nothing from AudioManager should have overwritten anything else.
Therefore, go to your \windows\ directory and look at the files in the zip archive. There you can see exactly which files to delete. To get the buttons back, go back to the HKLM\Software\HTC\SecondaryDsp\AudioManager and set the value to '0' instead of '1'.
As for advantages, just looks nice imho. I didn't really play with it yet.
Thanks ladies.
I installed and it worked. However I do NOT se any advantage over the WMP. This only looks cool because "dude, it's a HTC soft, dude". I'll stick with my WMP and occasionaly Pocket Player. No need for this

'tis true.
I'm going to play around with it more and if it seems faster or more stable than WMP I'll use it. Otherwise, I'll probably ditch it too.
I love PocketPlayer, but the external display plugin is so slow and just seems terribly unstable.

Yup, PP is very unstable and the plugin makes the whole phone really damn slow.
In the other hand, WMP is quite fast for me. ANd I never experienced even one single crash with it (except using Oxios memory tools before). Only the way of opening files in WMP pis*es me off.
After a day of playing around, I've decided I don't like either WMP or AudioManager...lol
Not sure which I'll be sticking with yet....

well WM6 does support external screen already. So lets hope for it, coz then we can use any player we want and with small update it should display also informations on the external screen. But guess it's still a looong way

Oh. Check with the HTC website for your region or whatever branding is on your phone, their site.
The 4.x ROMs are for USA (not sure if EUR has them yet), but can be downloaded from here:
http://www.america.htc.com/support/3125/software-downloads.html
Note, however, that you may need to unlock your device completely (including CID) before installing a ROM from a different region. Instructions are on this forum.

Hi,
Just a couple of questions to ask.
Fist of all I did install HTC`s audio manager and its no different from the wmplayer. Only better at fast forwarding . Since the external display shows exactly the same things with both the players, I assume it is some kind of seperate driver, that "interconnects" with other software. Who ever wrote that piece of code that controlls the play/prev/next buttons , should be executed for stupidity... Was it SO difficult to add a fast forward ability omg. Does anyone know how to add such a function?
Also, one more thing I have installed PocketPlayer, but I cannot find anything concerning the external display thing... I cannot find any plugins, or options. Can someone please enlighten me?
I absolutely love this phone, (and since it cost me 170 euros...) but I wish I fast forward the player with out having to open the phone...
Thanks
For PocketPlayer you want the WM_Host plugin version 2.0. Once you copy the DLLs to the PP directory, you need to open PP and the Plugin controls panel then configure the plugin. FastForward should be supported in PP.
Thanks so much... I did what you said, I enabled the plugin, but still, no fast forward. Dunno maybe its just a crappy wmp plugin in the first place...
Hmm, you're right. I never really needed it though so I guess that's why I never noticed...
Post what you want on the Conduits forums. They're usually pretty good with filling feature requests. I bugged them about getting support for the External Screen on the StrTrk for a couple months and even though they said it seemed impossible, they finally got it
I was looking for a tool to make screenshots of my phone. But I couldn't find the 'perfect' app for it. So I wrote a tool myself.
It's called PocketScreen. It's been written in VB.NET so you need the .NET Compact Framework for it.
Attached is a screenshot of the application.
You can set a timer from 1 to 60 seconds (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 20, 30, 45 or 60 seconds)
Further you can decide to exit or focus the application after capture.
The supported filetypes are *.bmp, *.jpg, *.gif or *.png.
When you press the capture button it will automatically minimize the application.
I've tested this on a Wizard only but it should work on any PocketPC with .NETCF 2.0 installed.
Updates
Version 1.3 (10-11-2007)
Some users who tested the application reported an error when opening the directory browser. I cannot reproduce the error but I tried to 'fix' the error.
- Option focus and exit application after capture changed. Now either focus or exit must be selected to prevent the program to stay minimized in memory.
- Directory browser updated. Root is not shown.
- When an error occures while displaying the directory browser a window will be displayed with the error message. (please report)
- Subdirectories will not appear twice (or more) anymore after expanding/collapsing multiple times.
Version 1.2 (07-11-2007, 20:30)
- Settings will be saved on exit. (and will be loaded on startup, of course)
- It's possible to set the number of captures.
Version 1.1 (06-11-2007, 16:00)
- The default save as dialog has been replaced by a new directory browser. Now it's possible to choose a subdirectory to store the captured screenshot.
Nice one Rhapsody - works nicely and the ability to save to multiple file formats is great.
Apprecaite it
Appears very nice...this could be the new "screen capture" app everyone includes in their roms instead of Pocket screen Capture which will only save to the temp dir and will only save in .bmp
great tool, thank you for developing this useful app.
Works on the AXIM x50v with WM5.0 ROM A03
Thanks
Thanks for the comments! Hopefully we'll see some more threads with screenshots over here
In addition it should be great if the application could take a screenshot on a button pressure...

Rhapsody,
Just figured I'd ask..I'm sure someone will build one if not....do you have an oem package version of the screen capture program for inclusion as a package in a rom? It's basically a zip with the exe and registry entries in a certain format with the executables compressed with upx.
I may try to build one..I'm new to the rom cooking business so usually I just grab ready made packages but if the registry entries are minimal I can probably figure it out.

The application doesn't use any registry at all. So I think the only settings which are stored in the registry are the shortcuts.

Changing the location for where to save the image is not sticky. Also, cannot specifiy a directory to save to that is within another directory.

No worries, I appreciate the app and your hard work. Proceed at your leisure.
I found this on a French site, by changing the registry you get an extra camera mode that adds current position in the EXIF part of the file!
You need to edit the key : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\Camera\P9 change from 0 to 1 (P9 is the Geocoding profile).
No need to soft reset, just go into the camera and set to Geocode mode (see capture)
The files get stored in My Documents/POI (maybe so they appear in Tom Tom?).
Anybody know of cool ways to use this feature? Flickr? Googlemaps?

I think the data is included in the file itself in a special zone that holds info on model of camera etc.
There are some applications that "place" the pictures on maps, I do not know much about this but want to find out! The ideal would be to place them on googlemaps...

P1-P9 are profiles for different camera modes. You'll notice that the "Enable" key is 0 in Profile 9. Change it to 1 and you should be good.
Also found this info on GPS passion, and was going to share, but never found the time....
I did the hack on my Ameo last weekend, and played around with it a little. It is ofcourse quite an amazing feature, and it does impress people that sees it, but given the quality of the camera in the Ameo, I'm not sure how usefull it will turn out to be, I would be a little embarassed to upload any Ameopics to Google at least.
Here is what I've found out sofar, if someone finds that useful.
When you start Camera, you get a new option when you choose your Photomode, called GPS. - This starts up the GPS automatically, and once it gets a fix you are ready to shoot.
The pics you then take are stored in /my documents/my Poi - which is created.
These pics will then have the GPS position included in the Exif data.
Haven't yet found a PPC software that is capable of reading these data, but if you read them with your ordinary pc, you can input them into google Maps (on PPC for instance) and it will take you there.
Picassa will read the data, and you can input them manually into your mapsoftware (the format is: xx yy' zz'' aa bb' cc'') but I would recommend "Panorado Flyer 1.2" which is a great free and small application. It gives you some new options in the context menu, so you just right-click your Gpspicture and choose "show location in Google Maps" - and it opens up Google Earth and takes you there.
There was some discussion on the precission of the GPS Data, actually on this very site I'm pretty sure, maybe the kaiser section(?) , someone noticed the last 2 decimals recorded for latitude and longitude allways were the same, so the precision was less than 100 meters, but the good news is this is not the case with our Athenas, they are very accurate!
I don't think I'm allowed to distribute Panorado Flyer here, but here is the link for you to download it yourself.
Hopefully someone will make a similar app. for PPC, which would make this feature so much more useful.
Here is a link to the free version: http://www.photo-freeware.net/panorado-flyer.php
And here is the commercial and probably more functional version (did not try it, but there is a demo): http://www.panorado.com/en/index.htm
I went to a birthdayparty this week and took a GPSpic inside an apartment on the 7. floor to demonstrate to all how brilliant the Ameo is, got a fix and shot a pic. The pic stinks, but if you want to try Pandora, you should be able to rightclick it and fly over here, even if I downscaled it....
And I just tried myself, and the GPS data did not survive the upload so it does not work, sorry.
Here is a shot of what Panorado rteads for that pic:
works well here
Actually you can use this format directly into Google earth, which is simpler I think:

Ok Midget, on my setup the GPS data was lost when I d'loaded my own pic from the post.
Also had to try it out on my old uni with an external GPS, but it doesn't have the P9 option, could that be because of the old HTC Camera version (3,00 build 21424) or must it have an internal GPS?
Anyone got the newer Camera version (like the one from the Ameo WM6 - 4.01 build 27598)?

P1-P9 are profiles for different camera modes. You'll notice that the "Enable" key is 0 in Profile 9. Change it to 1 and you should be good.

oh!..ok..i'll try it right away..
thanks
The new mode came right up when I made the registry change. Can someone confirm where the data is stored? Seems there are 2 places mentioned here.
That's freakin awesome! Possibly rates as my top feature of the moment! Good Hack!
And @ techntrek - it goes into my \microdrive\my documents\my poi\
Ace!

That is what you will also get when you use googlemap. It can be hundreds of meters off.
I read recently that US goverment wants to decrease the accuracy of GPS. I wonder if it is the result of this project that I noticed that the inaccuracy has been magnified lately.
Is there a way to change the filename format of the pictures that the stock camera saves?
It uses a filename of MMDDYYxxx (MONTH DAY YEAR then 4 digit number)
I would prefer to have it be YYYMMDDxxx (YEAR MONTH DAY then any identifier). Preferable with the year being a 4 digit number.
I'm also interested in this. I hate the way it names pictures. It makes things difficult when you sort by filename in a directory listing.
I've changed the date format under Settings > Date & time > Select date format > to MMMM/DD/YY but it has zero effect on the way the camera names files.
So frustrating. Samsungs camera does filenames about perfectly. example: 20140827_135746
They even add down to the second on the name. LG just adds a letter if it's a picture taken within the same minute.
edit: Dang. Even looking clear back to my original Droid1 they had this correct. Filenames were "2010-01-29 21.26.14.jpg". How could LG mess this up so bad?
I just ditched the stock camera for Google Camera. The weird date format and always asking if I want to delete the photo after swiping got on my nerves. I still have the LG camera opening by holding volume down when screen is locked though.

Does the google camera make use of the Laser Focus and OIS?

I'm not sure about the laser focus. The OIS is built into the lense and is still functional as it is built into the lens, and by the looks of me recording it works.
However, I haven't played with it enough to tell a difference in quality of picture taking

Meh. I think, if I keep the phone, I'll look for a script that converts the filenames into a more normal format before I save them to my desktop or switch phones. Not much I can do about Google+ but I hope it's smart enough not to duplicate.
I am pretty sure it is not.

Just an FYI: I went into Settings > Date & Time > Select date format > and choose YYYY/MM/DD and it had no effect on the stock cameras file naming scheme.
I would love to use a 3rd party camera but I doubt it would make use of the LG's laser focus.

Man, I have the LG G4 and this is a serious issue. Now I have 2 major deal breakers for me that are probably a 1 hour fix for LG:
1) Camera file naming (terrible thing, we had a hail the other day and my wife and I took pictures with our G4s. now I am organizing the photos, the names are messed up, I have not manually rename until I get it right, and even then the date stamp on the photo is messed up so it shows up in the wrong order. Add all this to Google being cheap and not wanting the normal SMB format in the phones, when I copy using the cable the date stamp on the pictures also changes)
2) Auto Brightness. Which is beyond a serious deal.
I cant believe LG just ignores major issues like this.
The magic happens in LGCameraApp/smali/com/lge/camera/file/FileNamer.smali
Id love to fart around with this but in two days im off to Nexus heaven. Good luck to anyone that embarks on this challenge.
I know this is an old posting, but I just stumbled across it now because I am dealing with this image file naming convention myself, but with a G4. There are certainly a bunch of solutions for automating the renaming process, but instead of reinventing the wheel, a very simple CLI tool that can do this is called jhead (http://www.sentex.net/~mwandel/jhead/). To rename images to something more easily understandable like YYYYMMDD_HHMMSS format, here's the syntax:
jhead -n%Y%m%d_%H%M%S *.JPG
If you still want to preserve the original file name, you can always just tack it on as a suffix with the following syntax:
jhead -n%Y%m%d_%H%M%S--%f *.JPG
