These days I have been hazzled by the sense being stuck and dead soon after I reset my HTC HD2. I tried all kinds of ROMS, such as Kwbr, energy, dZenkinZ...etc. even the offical ROMS;however old problem haunted my device.
after one day's effort, i finally resolve this problem and bring my device back to the original performance. and also this method also applies to other slow speed and other issues you may encounter.
Let's come to the point.
1. mtty (pls refer to the related info on XDA-developers.com)
If you think mtty is too complicated, then try to download task29 without mtty.
this step will help you to refresh your ROM and make it a virgin land for a new ROM.
2.now the problems is due to your MicroSD.
after a long period of use, your MicroSD accompanying your HD2 will be studded with a lot of files, big or small, good or bad.
YES, the problem is because of the mess in the MicroSD.
OK, what u need to is backup the contents in MicroSD and format your MicroSD. restart your device. Look and feel what u have got now!
Smooth, Stable, and Superspeed.
If u have this problem or the related problem, you can give it a try.

I will second this, I had a bunch of music, and ringtones on the SD card, now I did not format the card, but just to test, I moved the ringtones and some of the music to internal memory, and deleted the rest ...
BINGO , Sense still stuttered but started up much faster, the second reset, first one I attribute to it clearing out the old location from its cache ...
The Ringtones seem to almost cause more of a slowdown on startup than the music, of course I have like 400 ringtones, just an observation ....

UPDATE: I've finally narrowed down the culprit to my microsd. I'm not exactly sure what's the real problem but after emptying out the microsd, the problem no longer occurs. I'm suspecting one of the Manila tabs are having problems with the existing data on the card. Will slowly reload the contents of my card over the week and see if i can isolate down the actual culprit. So for now, anybody with similar problems, try emptying or formating your microsd (remember to backup your microsd data first!)
Having a particular strange issue with 6.5.x roms, every one I've tried so far, is not able to display the sense screen after suspend (and sometimes after leaving the device alone for a while)
Steps done so far
- HardSPL3
- Elegancia GTX 9.0 (first to exhibit the behaviour)
I suspected a problem with GTX initially so i decided to just flash the next one
- Elegancia 9.5 (same problem)
Okay this time i thought maybe it's just the rom series
- Chucky's (still refuses to show sense...pun intended)
- Merlion NG (no luck)
Okay maybe i've got to do a task 29
- task29.exe
- Chucky's (no luck the problem persists)
so back to WWE SEA 6.5.0 rom which is the default for my device, and voila no problem with Sense. Tried trawling the forums a bit but no luck on this issue. So was wondering if this is a known issue or is it just my HD2. Any help would be great as I would really love to flash a non-stock 6.5.x rom.
Arugess
as if i have the same trouble as you....in the begining, i could use all kinds of roms with a good performance of manila...but now manila just gets stuck at each time....it really killing me....
try task 29 if that dosent work you might be up for a new phone
my solution
before flashing your rom delete from the sd card Aplication Data folder. and better, remove your sd card from the phone. flash the phone and when you insert your card back htc will put back that folder on the card. and no more sense hang.
dont just empty the sd card, give it a whole fresh format.(The card, not the phone) Dont choose quick format, and be sure and choose FAT32
I need help, I searched the forums and I did everything the forums told me to do but no go. . Im trying to put android on my htc hd2. First I installed the spl, that went through without a hitch I downloaded everything, from the customRUU.exe, to radio 2.15, to a rom android sense, i tried flashing both not at the sametime changing them to RUU_signed.nbh, and when i run the ruu.exe it give me an error. When i try the other way, by changing them to LEOIMG.nbh and ptting it on my storage car, and shutting my phone off then turning it back on by holdong the volume button down with the power button all i get is the tri color screen with either serial or usb, nothing more, no image screen to continue, so i have to take out my battery and put it back in to restart my phone to normal. Im lost the process is very easy to do, but im having problem and i cant find anything in the forums to fix them nothing seems to be working. please help and sorry to be such a noob to this.
Also side note one user said i can us my tmobile rom, and radio, my current rom is like 3.14 and my current radio is higher the 2.08. just put android on my phone and run it. i put the folder in ran clrcad.exe, of course did nothing, then i ran haret.exe, it bootloaded to linux, now i phone is stuck on a blank screen with green htc lettering. I dont know why something so simple is giving me such a problem. I even looked at the vids on how to do, I did nothing different but no go.
Did you have memory card at 2gb memories minnimum? Maybe that is....android create a data image of 512mb to 2gb size, that is in the startup.txt file writing
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
You have looked every where but not the sticky??
I suggest you look at it again:
[REF] HD2 STICKIES | USEFUL INFO | POSTING RULES - Read Before Posting!
You should have NO problems after going thru it. Remember you are those very few that have problems. Read then you will find your answers.
Also, this is a Development forum, you should read the forum rules and such questions should be in the General section. Thanks Good luck!
memory card is at 16gig, as for sticky going to work now, ill check it later. Why do I have to be part if that little few? lol thank u
In startup text what does the last two lines say
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
which rom works best with cht2.0?
Just curious, how long did you waited at the "green htc" screen. During first boot, it can take up to 20 minutes to create the data files needed. I have to be patient. That screen usually indicate that it is working.
another, which android build did you try?
You are probably almost there. When you get the green htc letters on the blank screen, that is probably the time the image file is being created. This can take a good 10 minutes (according to the size of the image file being created. Your phone may seem stuck but its working in the background. Just leave it as it is for at least 15 minutes. If it stays like that then there must be another problem.
something tells me, you might not have hardspl installed yet...

select clrcad.exe and then haret.exe on your storage
How difficult is that?

I didnt change my rom, or my radio I kept them all original tmobile. My radio was already higher then 2.08, and my rom was the newest from tmobile 3.14. All I did was format the sd card, downloaded Mdeejay_eVo_Sense_v._2.0_REVOlution extracted it, moved it to the sd card and thats it. Clicked on clrcad, then haret and after about ten minute it worked. The only bad thing was i left my phone on with android running and I fell asleep, and woke up with a dead battery, i thought my phone bricked lol thank god the other way around.

Now whatever you do, be sure to ignore anyone that tells you that it's your microsd card that's draining the battery. It's misinformation that's still be spread like it's 'The Android Gospel'.
Do yourself a favor and get SetCPU and CurrentWidget. There's a thread on SetCPU (google for it) and use the settings that you find there.
The most recent builds tend to not really need taskkiller, as 2.2 is pretty good at memory management.
For future help, it's best to post in the existing thread for whatever build you're using, instead of a OMFGHELPAAAaaaaa thread in the wrong place.

kool thanx ill check it out.
I just flashed RR3.1.2.... I was using another ROM before this.
Everything is fine but i tried ti install iStunt2 Game and Rom Tool Box but they get FC.
Can someone please advise me how to fix this? I did try to fix permissions but its not working. I was not having any issue like this in previous ROM....
Maybe try checking the RR forums, or possibly reflashing. I've had problems before where certain apps just refuse to work on RR.
I personally have found even the latest RR to be too unstable/buggy for daily use. Every time I go back to it I find something within the first day that makes me choose another ROM.
Thanks for reply
No its working good for me ..... now
was trying to copy data files for a few games from my PC to SD card through data cable (They are big like 600-700mb). When the copy process reaches around 80-90% my phone reboots by itself. Any advice?

I don't know some thing replated to permissions or just needed a reset ....
I am having this issue with my device again now. I thought its fixed but I was wrong
tried both MTP and Mass Storage Mode no luck
This is the only issue
ok Dori is on to this one So probabaly we ll get this fixed in coming release for Dori Kernel
dorimanx said:
i think i know what can fix that,
i am doing tests, some EMMC external cards acting differently, and kernel using too much RAM to copy files first to RAM then to sdcard, it's SLOW and cant handle 10~20Mb/s
if you plug it in card reader you get 4~7MB max.
so here comes then fun part! kernel load as much as possible to RAM and then try to transfer to card on background, but it's take too much RAM, and ROM service PANIC and do reset to main ROM service to release the RAM, and you get HOT boot, and damaged file on card, (not complete)
i will reduce the amount of RAM used, but it's will reduce transfer speed, but be more stable.
we need stability, for people with GOOD quality fast external cards, speeds will remain the same.
so no bad effect.
thanks for report, (i seen that bug report many times, from random users, but was busy with more important work. now i can try to fix this.)

New Release for Dori kernel with this fix
I´ve rooted my Sola, installed CWM (touch 5.5.0.4), cleared cache, data, etc. but when I started to installa zip I found that CWM would no longer see my external SD card. It did see the ext_sd one time, but no longer. I have tried two different cards, both FAT32. I can´t even start android normally any longer, it just goes into a bootloop so I can´t just go and put the files on the internal storage.
Please someone help me, either tell me how I can use a computer to access the internal storage on the Sola without having to turn it on (then I can just put the files into the internal memory and install from there)... OR
tell me how I can get CWM to recognise my external SD cards.
Spent my whole day off on this, getting very desperate. Also it seems like my phone wont even charge anymore (can you charge whilst just in CWM?) and I´m down to 19% so I´m doubly desperate.
Thanks in advance.
OK, I half fixed it, I had enough battery to use flashtool to reinstall the generic ftf, but I´m still stuck on how to use the ext_sd.
Well in the end I managed to install what I wanted, but warning to others, if you are using the CWM in the Sola forum it does not seem to work with the external SD card, well not for me anyway. So put all your zips on the internal memory. Then it works fine.
BTW. Gingerbean is awesome, so silky fast and smooth. I was so disappointed in my update to stock ICS: constant hanging, crashing, dropped calls. Now I´ve been running Gingerbean for a week now (thanks again Diego910) and it´s stable, fast, calls don´t hang, everything works (wifi did not work on the first install, but on the second install it did), battery is better.... I haven´t tried any of the custom ICS builds so I can´t give a fair comparison, but I don´t need to try them now as GB is fast enough for everything I want. Install instructions are a bit vague though.
To who you talking ?
No one is responding here and you talk to yourself .. Lol
Kinda useless, or you just make this thread to get 10 posts.
Sent From Cybertron With My Powerfull Xperia P
Talking with you now init, lol.
not really interested in getting ten posts. but did want to share what I learnt from installing a new rom on my phone, maybe it helps someone else and they don´t have to spend as many frustrated hours as I did installing the damn thing. It probably seems very easy to you as you look like an expert on this matter, but when you are a new it is really complicated and time consuming as there is all this new terminology (flashtool/cwm, root/bootloader unlocking, ftf/zip. kernel/rom/???, etc), a million different ways of doing the same thing, lots instructions from different people that often contradict each other and the ever possible chance of bricking your phone. So if what I wrote in a minute saves someone a few hours, then it´s not pointless to me.
Hello guys..
I am an ATnT Samsung galaxy S2 i777 user. Some may be aware that the logcat files generated by Samsung at times causes issues by exhausting the memory reserved for the apps. My phone was plagued by the issue and i wasnt aware of the exact problem.
As a result, i kept moving apps/data to the external mem card as much as possible to keep the phone cured of the 'device memory low' warning sign. I was away from the scene due to hectic schedule and as there wasnt any big need to install new apps/features either, i wasnt bothered too much.
Finally one day the phone rebooted while i was asleep, and i woke up to find that much of the customization was gone. No Gapps, No Apex launcher, No Amazon app store, many apps (incl Titanium backup) missing.
Forced to google, found out the *#9900# trick and wiped off the excess logcat files. The memory status got straightened out, but the phone wont restore to the earlier state even after reboots.
I was running Shostock ROM, and it was about time i moved to either Kitkat or even Lollipop based ROMS. And this is what i plan to do now that i have the perfect excuse. Before i pulled the trigger, i wanted to clarify some points out so pls do lend me a helping hand here.
Have chosen Carbon ROM as my next. (Geekynimrod and rogsersb11 been superb with the work)
1) I have moved a lot of apps/data to the mem card. Once i have flashed the new ROM, will this data interfere with the new setup?
2) I would ofc need to empty the mem card of the data which i dont require. How to clean up the moved app/data if they are of no use?

I would recommend checking this thread out:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...de-partition-i777-phone-data-storage-t2839161
This procedure made all the difference for me.
I would also recommend choosing the 4.4.4 OmniRom. Normally I don't favor any Rom over the others in comments out of respect however, OmniRom is still being updated almost daily. It's the only 4.4.4 still in active development. I've tried many of the others and have settled on OmniRom for the past couple of weeks:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2544790
There is a lot of quality work still available here. It's been a lot of fun reading these threads.

Thanks a lot for the tip mate. I will def check the thread out.
Carbon ROM has been very impressive, and i wanted to try that out .. hence the inclination. But i guess i can always try both
Once i brush the basics off again, i ll be more comfortable getting the flashing done without too much apprehension. Thanks again. :good:
