[Q] sd card not mounting problem in CWM - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

I´ve rooted my Sola, installed CWM (touch 5.5.0.4), cleared cache, data, etc. but when I started to installa zip I found that CWM would no longer see my external SD card. It did see the ext_sd one time, but no longer. I have tried two different cards, both FAT32. I can´t even start android normally any longer, it just goes into a bootloop so I can´t just go and put the files on the internal storage.
Please someone help me, either tell me how I can use a computer to access the internal storage on the Sola without having to turn it on (then I can just put the files into the internal memory and install from there)... OR
tell me how I can get CWM to recognise my external SD cards.
Spent my whole day off on this, getting very desperate. Also it seems like my phone wont even charge anymore (can you charge whilst just in CWM?) and I´m down to 19% so I´m doubly desperate.
Thanks in advance.

OK, I half fixed it, I had enough battery to use flashtool to reinstall the generic ftf, but I´m still stuck on how to use the ext_sd.

Well in the end I managed to install what I wanted, but warning to others, if you are using the CWM in the Sola forum it does not seem to work with the external SD card, well not for me anyway. So put all your zips on the internal memory. Then it works fine.
BTW. Gingerbean is awesome, so silky fast and smooth. I was so disappointed in my update to stock ICS: constant hanging, crashing, dropped calls. Now I´ve been running Gingerbean for a week now (thanks again Diego910) and it´s stable, fast, calls don´t hang, everything works (wifi did not work on the first install, but on the second install it did), battery is better.... I haven´t tried any of the custom ICS builds so I can´t give a fair comparison, but I don´t need to try them now as GB is fast enough for everything I want. Install instructions are a bit vague though.

To who you talking ?
No one is responding here and you talk to yourself .. Lol
Kinda useless, or you just make this thread to get 10 posts.
Sent From Cybertron With My Powerfull Xperia P

Talking with you now init, lol.
not really interested in getting ten posts. but did want to share what I learnt from installing a new rom on my phone, maybe it helps someone else and they don´t have to spend as many frustrated hours as I did installing the damn thing. It probably seems very easy to you as you look like an expert on this matter, but when you are a new it is really complicated and time consuming as there is all this new terminology (flashtool/cwm, root/bootloader unlocking, ftf/zip. kernel/rom/???, etc), a million different ways of doing the same thing, lots instructions from different people that often contradict each other and the ever possible chance of bricking your phone. So if what I wrote in a minute saves someone a few hours, then it´s not pointless to me.

How to resolve the problem of Sense being dead and stuck

These days I have been hazzled by the sense being stuck and dead soon after I reset my HTC HD2. I tried all kinds of ROMS, such as Kwbr, energy, dZenkinZ...etc. even the offical ROMS;however old problem haunted my device.
after one day's effort, i finally resolve this problem and bring my device back to the original performance. and also this method also applies to other slow speed and other issues you may encounter.
Let's come to the point.
1. mtty (pls refer to the related info on XDA-developers.com)
If you think mtty is too complicated, then try to download task29 without mtty.
this step will help you to refresh your ROM and make it a virgin land for a new ROM.
2.now the problems is due to your MicroSD.
after a long period of use, your MicroSD accompanying your HD2 will be studded with a lot of files, big or small, good or bad.
YES, the problem is because of the mess in the MicroSD.
OK, what u need to is backup the contents in MicroSD and format your MicroSD. restart your device. Look and feel what u have got now!
Smooth, Stable, and Superspeed.
If u have this problem or the related problem, you can give it a try.

I will second this, I had a bunch of music, and ringtones on the SD card, now I did not format the card, but just to test, I moved the ringtones and some of the music to internal memory, and deleted the rest ...
BINGO , Sense still stuttered but started up much faster, the second reset, first one I attribute to it clearing out the old location from its cache ...
The Ringtones seem to almost cause more of a slowdown on startup than the music, of course I have like 400 ringtones, just an observation ....

[Q] Help to install apps into SD (stable method)

Hello to everyone;
To start with I suppose I must introduce myself:
My name is Manu from México and I am a proud owner of a Samsung Galaxy Ace since three months ago.
During this time I had played with it and its stock ROM with 2.3.4 from carrier Telcel, I rooted it and removed bloatware from the carrier, the result was really nice; even thou after some apps the internal space run out, and therefore the responsiveness of my phone also got cluttered.
About a week ago or so I decided to go beyond and flashed "CyanogenMod 7.1-cooper-KANG-RC1 Android 2.3.7" so I tested it for a while and even thou I found many improvements, many bugs were unbearable for the phone use I’m used to; so I switched back to a Stock Rom and flashed "S5830SERKPO" with 2.3.5. and my regional modem.
In addition I did this process to Deodex + root "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1118048&highlight=DEODEX” the result in my personal opinion is very good, but I’m back to the beginning. IM RUNNING OUT OF SPACE FOR INTERNAL STORAGE AND THE PHONE STARTS TO ACT LAGGY
I have read about s2e, link2sd and darktremor a2sd; where is require to partition your SD (which I already have also done with CMW at no avail) and I have finally ended up with a program called Install Manager 3.5.1 which promises to do move apps to SD (as far as they are executed locally from an .apk file and not market)
So... after this entire intro, and to avoid any flaming against me: I have read many many posts and have ended up overwhelmed and more confused.
¿Can someone please help me into the best way (in terms of stability and performance) to manage my apps to the SD card with a stock ROM?
(If possible a detailed explanation please, remember I have Stock "S5830SERKPO" with 2.3.5. and my regional modem)
Thanks a lot.
Also let me say I had read this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1172684
But I get lost into "make sure the rom supports it" and therefore not sure if this applies to S5830SERKPO 2.3.5
Well, seems that my post is getting to much attention yet... still, I have an update; today during the course of the day, two times the phone screen turns off and it does not come back until I remove the battery.
The phone continues to work... (the radio still plays, calls continue, etc) just the screen turns off without any means to turn it on.
Hope someone can guide into how to find a better solution for my need.
Probably the easiest way to fix that is to install a ROM from the dev section (make sure it supports A2SD) Cyanogenmod is not official for our Ace, wich means lots of bugs, but other Customs Roms should be ok for you.
Create a ext4 and swap with CWM in your sd card (reboot into recovery, advanced, create sd partitions) Open the A2SD app and turn the swap on, move applications.

A complex problem with Vibrant [SOLVED!]

Hey Guys!
Prologue
I have a complex problem with my beloved Vibrant. First of all, I got it for Christmas a year ago. It had no issues, with a stock 2.1 (and after a kies update 2.2) firmware, it was fun for a first droid. After digging myself into the world of droids, I decided to root my baby, and put CM on it. It was about a month ago; I saw that there is a stable cm10 for the Vibrant. There were minor problems (could not exit cm recovery and boot the phone normally) with doing it, but at the end, it worked flawlessly.
Problems
Unfortunately, a few days ago, my phone started to have problems like "Trebuchet stopped working" and similar error messages appeared on screen. Yesterday my Vibrant stopped working. The only thing it could do was when I turned on, it showed cm recovery. I chose to reboot the phone, but again, recovery mode came up.
- Now, I use a stock 2.2 (Eugene's) but with this, I cant really use my Vibrant, except for calls and sms.
- Odin cant see my phone.
- I cant revert it to normal stock firmware
- When trying to put a cm10 to it, reboots into recovery it says: cant mount dev/block/mmcblk0p1
What I did
First of all, a lot of research. Really, a lot, but I suppose not enough, because I cant repair my phone.
- I tried to revert to stock (using AIO Vibrant toolbox). I put Cmenard's kernel (with cm recovery, as described in the official cm wiki howto) onto the phone, since then Odin cant see my phone.
- I have Heimdall, adb shell installed on windows, so tried some lines to revert the Vibrant to normal, no success
- Rooted with superoneclick, so I have root, and su.
Summary
My suspicion is that the internal SD card is corrupted. Anyhow, I tried to use parted, but cannot format my internal SD card. I found solutions that may help, but unfortunately I have no exterior SD card, to make those steps.
Any help would be highly appreciated, as I am starting to lose my mind, and I do not really have a backup phone (will definitely buy in January).
In the top of that, today is my birthday.
Greetings to all,
Dan

Yes, download mode is ok, 2 volume buttons pressed, then plug in the usb cable. Before the new kernel was put on, I used the same method and eg was okay with Odin, thats how I put on Eugene's mod as well.
No, (unfortunately) I use windows 7. Or do you mean, I should use ubuntu?

First and foremost, happy belated birthday. It's a shame this had to happen on your birthday... Especially since I have some rather bad news. In your post--which, by the way, was very well written--you mentioned getting the error "cant mount dev/block/mmcblk0p1" while in recovery. This is a pretty bad sign. More than likely, one of two things happened. Either you obtained the Encryption Unsuccessful bug or your internal SD card outright crashed. Either way you're going to need to purchase an external SD card if you wish to continue using your phone. No way around it bud, sorry.
I had the EU bug hit my device a month or two ago, and had to purchase an external SD card as a result. After partitioning the new SD card and tweaking the phone to run off of it, my phone runs great... But switching back to stock/installing a new ROM can be a tricky process...
Good luck. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.
Oh, and this guide should be able to help: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1580902

Yes, I meant use ubuntu, but N00B in N33D i think has the right answer, i overlooked the "can't mount" part of the post. Sorry about all of that happening on your birthday:/

Thank you very much for the answer and the kind words. I will get an SD card then, I will need it later on anyway I guess. I will try this method you linked, and going to post about what happened (but not in the near future, Christmas is coming).
Good news, your phone runs great now after those things, it means I have a little chance at least. :fingers-crossed:
Thanks again, the best wishes for the holiday season!

Thanks! Yeah I was kind of disappointed, but maybe I can sort it out.
Okay, thanks again, and the best wishes to you as well!
Hey Guys.
Lately, I bought an sd card (class10, 16GB) and tried to breathe life into my Vibrant. Used this method (except the fact, that I used cm10):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1665123
Actually this worked.
Before that, I figured out, that Odin couldn't see my device because of some driver errors Heimdall caused. (Or Heimdall/zadig installed some other drivers, to be more precise.)
So after reinstalling those drivers from Vibrant AIO Toolbox, I used that method.
But.
The final step, where you edit the vold.stab file, those two lines are swapped for me. Anyhow I tried to edit both ways (as written originally in the post, and tried to swap the lines) but unfortunately after editing, saving the file, and rebooting, the phone just stays at the animated cyanogenmod logo. Nothing happens. Really, I waited an hour or so, still nothing. Tried to reinstall everything, clear cache, dalvik, then phone reboots again normally to cm10, but as mentioned in the post, camera does not work.
Any thoughts would be helpful here.
EDIT:
That post says it should be this after editing:
#internal sdcard
dev_mount emmc /mnt/sdcard 1 /devices/platform/s3c-sdhci.0/mmc_host/mmc0
#external sdcard
dev_mount sdcard /mnt/emmc auto /devices/platform/s3c-sdhci.2/mmc_host/mmc2
and my file contains this originally:
# internal sdcard
dev_mount emmc /storage/sdcard1 auto /devices/platform/s3c-sdhci.2/mmc_host/mmc2
# external sdcard
dev_mount sdcard /storage/sdcard0 1 /devices/platform/s3c-sdhci.0/mmc_host/mmc0
So it would be great to edit these two lines correctly.
Bump. Any help would be appreciated.
This is the last and only problem with my phone, and it doesn't look like it's an unbeatable problem.

Thank you very much! Wow, this worked like a charm! One zillion thanks!
Hopefully this thread will help out many Vibrant users experiencing problems like this one was. Thank you all once again.
Hi guys.
Since then, I have flashed the CyanAOSP 2.9.0 ROM into my beloved vibrant, new kernel (gearkernel universal 1.1.2) and everything works fine, 4.4 is flawless in this device as well,
however
I am now facing some problems again, as the system cannot access the sdcard part, so with rootbrowser I can edit files and anything else, but camera, music player and gallery is not working.
I am thinking of a vold.fstab editing, but as 4.4 has this no more, I am stuck at this point. Any ideas of how and what to edit? Tried build.prop, no success so far. In CWM I can see that the sdcard is not mounted. Mounting it also did not help either.
Edit: I would think, editing the fstab.aries would be the key in this process, but I cannot really tell which part needs to be edited.

XPERIA mini pro - cyanogen mod 9 not mounting sd card

Hello all
First of all let me thank you for this forums, a real goldmine of tips and info
Please excuse my silliness in this post, but it's a byproduct of me writing from a tablet. Pure horror.
The situation where I find myself at the moment is quite usual but with some complications.
Yesterday I decided I was going to install link2sd to finally live a new app addicted life, and I followed this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2126363&nocache=1
And everything went fine until I tried to use link2sd and it didn't see my sd.
I then had a more serious look and I realised my phone doesn't recognise the sd somehow.
Here is the complications: I am on holidays and I don't have my laptop with me.
Normally I would format the sd again, probably I have done something weird, but with no computer and such, what are my options?
I was considering to upgrade to 10 as well, would it be possible with no PC somehow?
Here it is all. The phone is working anyway for now. It's just yo fix it so I can shoot silly pics in beautiful Amsterdam
Thank you all!

[Q] CWM unable to mount Ext SD & Data

First few things: I don't know if I'm supposed to be posting this here, idk if the problem is device specific or not... Sorry if I've done anything wrong. I've searched already, can't find any similar threads that actually help. I have the international version. I was running the CM10.2 Rom prior to 'the accident'. I will pay for a resolution if need be - PM me.
There's a bit of a story to this so I'll go over it all - not sure what's relevant.
I've been running out of storage for days, a 64GB SD card is in the mail. I currently have an 8GB one as well as the internal 16GB, both of which were near full, but the external one had relatively more than the internal one, so I decided to use foldermount and link2SD to move some space over. That all went fairly well.
This morning I got invited to the Aviate Beta launcher, which looked interesting. Tried to install, didn't have enough space. So I decided to make a backup of Nova, go into the play store, uninstall nova to free up space and then install Aviate without leaving the playstore. It worked, turns out I don't like Aviate much, so I worked backwards. Uninstalled Aviate, went to install Nova. Not enough space (idk how). Uh oh.
So I deleted some less-necessary apps that I could reinstall later. Not enough storage. Notification comes up in the bar along the lines of "storage critically low, device may malfunction". Now whenever I attempted to enter settings, the process crashed. Great. Simple fix, flash a NANDroid back-up in CWM. I can't remember what the message was, but there was something wrong with the back-up.
Wiped everything and tried to flash CM10.2 from the external SD Card but it wouldn't mount. Data also wouldn't mount. I tried several SD Cards ( ie about 10, different brands, sizes, classes, etc out of hope). So I decided I'll open up and Odin and just re-do everything per /showthread.php?t=2387980.
Turn the phone back on, stock Jelly Bean lockscreen was there, and once unlocked only the notification bar was there (no launcher). So I used different versions of Odin, different cables, downloaded the image several times, etc etc. Nothing fixed it. In fact, it's worse now. after booting past the Samsung logo, the screen just goes black now. smh
Can anyone help? It would be extremely appreciated. It's also a time sensitive issue as I need the device for work on Monday.
Sorry if I've missed anything. Yes I'm a noob, but you great people at XDA have helped a lot of people out before so I'm hoping you can help me.
Thanks!
