Is there a possible a permanent texting program similar to the one provided by HTC where the picture is included with the text messages but that be the primary texting application. Instead of going to the old list of text messages and opening it. Have a picture next to the person your talking to, I sometimes forget who I'am texting lol I know it sounds bad but if i had the picture next the it at all times that would be cool

I'm guessing he wants to have his sms inbox looking like it does in sense 2.5, with the contact picture next to the message.
I would love to have this as well in my sms inbox on a regular winmo6.5 titanium rom, does anybody know if there is such a thing available? (with out using sense 2.5)
Try PocketCM contacts. You still get a list of messages per contact (which makes sense), but their picture is shown at the top of the list
Basically I'm trying to get my Wife/teens to stop using carrier text messaging without having to explain to them how to use two different applications to send texts.
Doesn’t have to be Google voice, really any app that will act as the default messaging app and when texts come in over the Verizon number and they reply to the text the recipient gets the “free” text number to respond to will work – Gvoice just seemed like the easy choice.
I've done quite a bit of research and cannot seem to find a clear answer so I'm hoping someone here had come across this. What I'm looking to do is change the reply-to number that gets sent to text message recipients from the default messaging app, Go SMS or Handcent SMS. What I do NOT want to do is have two separate text messaging apps. I want all texts to come from one application.
The idea here is to avoid paying Verizon text messaging charges and eventually block carrier text messaging altogether by using Google voice to send/receive all SMS.
Ideally this is how it would work - When a friend sends me a txt using my Verizon number I get a notification. I click reply and then press send and one of two things happens:
1. Instead of sending the text over Verizon’s network the text automatically sends it through Google voice and my friend sees my Google voice number and replies to it, essentially encouraging them to use the new phone number but seamless from my perspective.
2. Another alternative is to send the text message over Verizon’s SMS network but have the reply-to number be my Google voice number so when they reply it will go through Google voice.
While #1 will more quickly reduce the number of text messages sent through the carrier network what's most important is I'm using the same app for all texting.
I don't mind purchasing an app that can do this either.
I using a rooted Galaxy Nexus if that helps.
no app can do what u want sorry
I have Sprint and an integrated google voice number. I also have a tablet I use to send/receive GVoice messages. Problem is, only the received messages will show up on my phone...any message sent through GVoice isn't there. Ps, I understand WHY, just looking for a way to get around it.
Is there any app/technique available (searched FOREVER) that will allow my phone to sync up with the sent messages from GVoice? Essentially, I want to be able to have a gvoice only conversation on the tablet and have the same conversation show up on the phone.
Thanks!
Bump. Have an app that can send GV from the native SMS system.
GV Intergration
But I cannot get GV messages received in the native message app without forwarding the text through the proper SMS phone number. I thought there was an an option for this in the GV app, but it doesn't seem to make a difference for me.
I just emailed the developer of the GV Integration app asking if he had any ideas on how to do this. Unfortunately, the Google Voice app is the only one I've found that will sync messages instantly (or at all). I SMS a *lot* from my laptop browser via google.com/voice and the Google Voice chrome plugin.. so it would suck to only see one side (incoming) of the text thread.
I'll definitely let you guys know if I find anything.
damnit google.. open up the freakin api already.
Also.. if you do use the Google Voice app.. there's an app on the market called NotifierPro that works with the Android Google Voice app to display popups of incoming text messages... which is convenient.
You can send text mesages with GVI, then have them forwarded back to your phone. That would work if you have unlimited inbound texts, but it cuts prepaid texting in half, which is nice, but could be nicer.

Well, I'm glad others have an interest in something like this too. I've been using mysms recently...it's by no means reliable and it relies on your phone to send/receive (unlike GV) but it works ok for now. Mighty text works better as far a reliability goes, but is terrible with the tablet browser, doesn't support notifications, and still relies on the phone...still not GV. I guess we'll just gave to wait.
Argh...the GV integration app ALMOST works. It might just be a matter of getting the settings right. Messages sent from a Google Voice web browser get integrated into handcent (Usually after you receive a message). I just keep running into problems with duplicate messages, not getting notifications from handcent (messages still show up), etc depending on the settings I choose between the GV/Handcent/GV Integration apps.
SO frustrating...has anyone had better luck?
Looking for a way to keep text sent from the browser and tablet synced with my phone as well. Im using Sprints GV integration as well.
I know this thread is old but for anybody that finds this post you should know that cm10.2 roms have voice+ which integrates messages sent from a computer to your phones message store
Wow thread resurrection! Yes it's awesome. Been using it since Koush came out with Babel. Recent nightlies though, receiving messages has been spotty. Are you using nightlies and or are you seeing this too?

For anyone else, the app Sliding Messaging (on play store, or if you search xda) just added Google voice integration.

Hey I tried googling to get an answer, but couldnt find anything concrete, so figured I'd ask the wise people here.
1) Pretty much everytime I get a MMS from an Iphone user, it shows as multiedia message, opposed to a snippet of the message when im in the main all messages area. Is there anyway to get this to show the actual message vs the "mutimedia message" text?
2) Currently running MeanBean, but is there anyway to see all recipients of a group message. Anytime a group message is sent, I can only reply back to the main sender, and not to the whole group. Other members of the group can send me message as part of the chain. At the moment appears that it's only ihpone people. I believe I read this is a draw-back of sense, but couldnt find any concrete info.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your time.
What app are you using? I use Handcent and the group messaging works fine once I corrected the settings. I also hear Go SMS works well too. I still don't get the sneak peak of the message from iphone users but everything else works.
Go SMS works better for me than the stock message app

Ok let me preface this request with my trials:
I had an iPhone 4s before May and never cared for the blandness... But I loved how it just worked with group messaging and emojis.
I use texting for a lot of group messaging and unfortunately most of the individuals in the groups are iOS.
So I have tested group messaging with:
Our Stock Samsung Text messaging app which works probably the best, but the emojis suck on android and there is no stock Popup Quick Reply
Handcent... Which has nice Quick Reply and Great Emoji support BUT the MMS group messaging is super flaky! And this seems to be the same with most other apps too. I click right into a message right when someone responds and it lists the last responder and if I respond then it only sends the response to the last responder not the group... Also I get times where it will randomly have my responses send to all the individuals in seperate texts! Like "Me to 1, Me to 2, Me to 3, Me to 4" Instead of just Me to Group
Go SMS Pro.... Great Emojis also but same problems as Handcent
Textra... Same
Chomp... Same and it seems the worst. All group replies would go to each separately
I am trying Sliding Messaging Pro and it seems to be working better than the others but why don't the others work? I did notice with the first MMS group message it told me to adjust the MMS settings APN... I just told it to find it automatically and now it seems to work...
What has been your experience and how can I fix the other apps? I liked Handcent the most...
8sms in the play store.
Thanks so far I like 8sms... I just want more customization. Also the pictures turn to slide shows a lot!
