Internal Storage/RAM questions - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm looking at the Memory stats on my HD2, and I'm a little puzzled.
HTC's website says there is 512MB of ROM, and 448MB of RAM. Wikipedia says that there is actually 576 MB RAM, with 128MB reserved for 3D graphics (which is cool by me).
I believe I remember reading somewhere that the European version of the HD2 has 1024MB of ROM.
The Memory stats tells me I have 702.68MB of 'Storage' and 450.51MB of 'Program.' I'm going to guess 'Storage' is ROM and 'Program' is RAM, but those numbers don't quite line up.
Anyone want to explain this to me?
I'm using Kumar's newest 'Classic' ROM at the moment, waiting not-so-paitiently/refreshing-the-page-every-10-minutes for the 'Lite' version to appear.

Actually you have it backwards, the TMOUS HD2 has the 1024 ROM ...

Is there a way to take advantage of the 1024MB? And is that something I would do every time I flash a ROM?

Well you are , the 1024 Rom is your internal storage, what ever is left over that your actual OS does not take up , for installing programs and such ...

rom size and cooked rom

i flashed my hd2 with a cooked rom (energy: very good), and i noticed rom size is only 204mb (half available). i read in the forum that problem is related with hslp.
is it correct? is there a way to flash a cooked rom with hslp and more rom size?
thanks
thats about right. 512 meg total physical rom size, most roms once installed take up about 300 meg, leaves you 200 or so free.
thanks for answer but situation seems different. i don't read '512 total, 200 free', but '202 total, 100 free'.
in other cooked rom, flashed xith hslp, how much rom is?
do you mean RAM or ROM?
for regular hd2.
rom = 512 meg hardware total, approx 300gets used when you first install the rom, leaving around 200 that you can use to install programs and files.
BUT
if you meant to say 200 total RAM then you probably installed rom 3.14 using hspl, which loses half your ram and makes the phone unstable so don't do it.

Your storage memory is fine.......
Thats the good news.
The bad news is that you have a problem with the program memory.
Its because of the 3.14 ROM.
Do you have HSPL installed as well as that 3.14 ROM?
Im not sure about the ins and outs of the problem but if you search the forums you will find plenty of threads discussing low amounts of program memory and the 3.14 ROM.
Sorry I cant be of any more help but I dont use that ROM so Ive never really looked into the problem.
Edit; Try this thread for a solution

Thanks a lot for replying .....!!! similar related to this i had posted on the HTC HD2 Anroid Q&A thread, please look into that.
Do you have HSPL installed as well as that 3.14 ROM?
Yes i am having HSPL installed as welll as 3.14 ROM, and one more important thing : please check this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=950165
when i flashed with "Motoman234_MyTouch4G_V3.1_DAF" i can succesfull have the full tour of the ROM, but after that i flashed with WP7 used for one month then again i went directly to MAGLDR and tried to flash "Motoman234_MyTouch4G_V3.1_DAF" & "DL.DesireZ.v3.4.final.nand". From here it am seeing message storage memory almost full.
So is there any uninstall procedure for WP7, i guess directly trying to flash caused these issue. Please suggest
I cant really comment on that, sorry.
I dont use MAGLDR/WP7 so I dont wanna give you any advice in case its wrong...
The answer is out there though, try using google to search instead of the site search function, just add "xda" to the end of your google search, might yield better results.

As from my experience, there is no way to uninstall WP7 but to flash your device with the stock/custom rom. For safety, use micro sd method (which I am sure you know it, right? )

You can go to HTC Website. There, you select country "South East Asia"
Then, go to the download section. If your Serial Number is accepted, it means the rom is suitable for your device.
Goodluck

Stock ROM version 3.14 only has 448MB. No need to worry
The stock 3.14 ROM only allows access to 448MB of the total system RAM. Your storage memory is 200MB because you haven't reformatted your SD card after installing WP7. When you install WP7 thru MAGDLR your SD card is partitioned with 200MB available to Windows, you need to completely format your SD card and then it should read correctly. Please use the search function, these questions have been asked many times.

ram issue i gusse (fixed) note people you need your correct spl

after a few windows 7 roms and android installation i get my phone stuck when send/receive emails or openning a link via opera and i have to softreset using 6.5 and my ram is always free at 17% without any thing opened except cookie home tab ! and i removed so many tabs , my photo tab has the stock photos of htc , my people tab has nothing my internet has nothing too, have only one email set
i did task9 when went back to 6.5
Have you made sure that sneaky little downloads folder is emty in Opera? If not go to File Manager/Windows/Opera/Profile/Downloads and emty it. It is kind of a hiden folder. Also do a sesrch for cleanRAM and Clear Temp. The clearRAM app will force flose all apps that are idile and using RAM and the Clear Temp will allow you to clear other hidden folders that eat up memory.
i have clean ram and clear temp they saves not more than 1 mb by the first, and few kb by the second, i wonder where the 83% of ram goes.

If you have cleanRAM and Clear Temp and have cleared everything this is strange. The only other question I have is do you have your text message settings for clear the deleted text message set to immidiate or manual? If it is manual all of your text messages are still on your HD2. Go to Messages/Menu/Options and it is at the very top of the screen.

i even disabled manila to test ram and got 26% free as maximum is that rom or win 6.5 hd2 matter what causes stuck
how much ram you have free ... i have total 208 total and with manila and every thing disabled is 35 mb
which rom/hspl combination are you using.
3.14 roms will not play nicely with the wrong HSPL version causing an issue similar to this.

Just download HSPL4 and run it when you are promted for what SPL version you want to install select the version of SPL you want, make sure you choose the one with four zeros at the end this is the SPL the others are HSPL.

Help program memory

I have a HKWWE HD2, with JP winnls hacked in.
Generally if I open opera + email, I can't open any other programs. eg albums will say no memory can't open.
Settings will show 203mb program memory free and 70mb storage free
I can open fewer programs than on my old 32ram phone.
Installed are spb mob shell, pocket plus, phone suite
I don't know if it has to do with the pagepool, but you can always try a different ROM.
Are you using a 3.14 based rom without 3.03.hspl? 3.14 roms mess up the ram with any other spl/hspl.
I'm using retail shipped rom, but seriously considering android/wm7 now if only i had time to find a tomtom replacement

Doesn't really answer my question, if the rom you are running is a 3.14 rom and you flashed it whilst (example) your spl was 2.08.hspl, then it will mess with stability and available ram.

Only 4.7 GB Internal Memory Available?

I'm sure this has been answered before, but I can't seem to find the info about the Desire 601.
I've got the US Virgin Mobile version. I haven't taken the time or effort to update to 4.4, so I'm sitll on 4.2 or whatever it came with. The phone is rooted.
I looked at the Storage section of the device and it lists "Other" taking up 3.77. Is the OS really that large!? Is there any way to shrink that size some?
When I go into the app DiskUsage it shows the internal memory as being only 4.787GB, with "System data" taking up 405MB, which is more what I'd expect Android itself to take up.
So again, is there any way to free up some of the 8GB of data? Would upgrading to 4.4 help? Should I flash a custom ROM?
The main reason I want to free space is to install certain games like GTA that don't let you install data to the external card. And yes, I've tried FolderMount. It didn't work great for me.
Thanks!
Get s-off in order to use the link2sd app. It works great
I tried Rumrunner and the other one with a similar name a while back and both failed. Left me with a "Bootloader tampered" or whatever the wording is.
Maybe I'll give it another shot, thanks!
When u unlock ur bootloader, it says that. Its ok. Follow the instructions carefully
