Dear guys,
I have a t-mobile g2 device and as I wanted to apply update.zip is saw that I need a keyboard in the menu to select the option because it doesnt work with trackball.
There are 3 options:
reboot (Home +back)->I can select it since I have that 2 button, but it doesnt work with trackball
apply cdcard:update.zip [alt+S]
wipe data / factory reset[alt+m]
There is also a text down"e: cant open /cache/recovery/command/ but I dont think it matters
Could you help me on how to select it with no alt+s button?
normally it works with trackball. make sure you dont touch the screen while trying to select an option. if it still dont work try another recovery...

anyway there is no touchscreen support in recovery mode (AFAIK)
Some of the buttons move the cursor too, possibly volume down goes down but i cant remember. I use the trackball.
I can move the cursor but the trackball "enter" doesnt work.
"Enter" is the Home button?
no:S i tried every combination ..
i want to do this too! any ideas?
Ohhh god !!!
u can move selection by trackball and press it to enter. NOTHING ELSE my dear friend.
Use volume up and down to move up and down and home to select.
If these don't work your recovery is broken so flash it again using method described in the AmonRA recovery topic.

Is this a recovery fault or what? Any ideas? Thank you.

Tried the volume buttons?
It sounds like you ain't added the recovery ROM????? Your using the stock one provided by HTC/T-Mobile.. or I could be wrong.. probably flash again as already suggested
I think that you are using the g1's recovery so it's for the dream which have a keyboard..

Hello,
I searched the forums (even for other devices) and didn't find an aswer.
I installed Rom Manager on my Evo 3D GSM, and it installed the last Clockwork Recovery.
But when I enter in recovery, all options (install from SD, reboot, etc...) show the hat icon and do nothing.
Can anyone help me ?
Thank you.
do you mean all the options disappear showing only the background image when you press the power button to select anything? If so, just keep pressing the volume down key and scroll through the list three times. A prompt should come up saying back menu key disabled? or something. Then your selections should work.
Use the "camera" button to choose your options, not the power button

you have to use photo-shot button instead of power button to accept your choice...
I think what he means is when you start Clockwork and select something out of the first menu, it just shows a blank black screen with the app icon in the middle.
I think I just reflashed my HTC Evo, when I got this error, and it fixed it.

hold power button along with volume +/- when you see samsung logo release only the power button, then once logo disappears release volume buttons..that should get you into CWM. once you have it all set up, you may want to try TWRP instead of CWM.
TWRP: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1647575
Also ...
Depending on the version of CWM..it uses the double tap style to function ....making you push each area twice to toggle it ..
Then to go back to the previous screen you use the back arrow at the device bottom ..
The koush touch method is only one touch ....
Good luck brother ...
We're here for ya ...g

Hi guys,
I forgot the pin-code to my Galaxy S2, not to the sim, to the phone.
I can't go into recovery mode or download mode, due to a broken home-button.
Is there any way I can like hack the pin, or reset the phone without having to use my home button?
Maybe by using my pc or something?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Man I thought it was impossible to get into download mode but you got me there!
Unfortunately I do not see the "Clear Storage" option.
The volume down button gets me into a reboot.
Volume up gets me to downloading.
Is there any way I can get into recovery? Or download something to the phone that resets it?
And eh, multitasking, that is kind of hard with no home button.
The back button gets some more use since the home button has died haha

If you want to get yourself into recovery mode try something simpler
A cwm manager app
It has the option boot into recovery

Problem is, I cannot acces my phone so I can't install apps
I'm thinking about flashing another rom, only I can't wipe cache and factory reset before doing that.
What are the risks of that? And is there a big chance of this going wrong?

Thanks, flashing right now.
Had flashed a few hours ago, but still got asked for the pin.
Though then I had to register the phone (name, language, that stuff) and after that I was in the phone, and did not have to enter the pin.
Doing that again right now, hoping to get to settings and then get to factory reset
Thanks for your help so far.
Then another question popped up:
To get another kernel I need recovery mode right?
And to get rooted I need a rooted kernel?
So can I root my device without home button and without recovery menu?

As far as I'm aware, there are no hardware keys to get you to recovery.
1)*Boot into LG G3 Recovery Mode Using*HARDWARE BUTTONS
This method is a fail-proof method that’ll always work for you, unless you’ve broken your device’s*hardware keys. In such a case you’d be left with only the other two software based methods.
IMPORTANT NOTE:*Do not try to reboot into recovery mode unless you’ve installed a custom recovery like TWRP / CWM on your LG G3, otherwise you might end-up hard resetting your phone.
Power off your device and wait for 5-10 seconds until the device is fully switched off.Press and hold *‘Volume Down*+ Power’ buttons*together and release them as soon as you see the LG*logo on your phone’s screen. Now immediately press and hold the*‘Volume Down + Power’*buttons again until you see the*‘Hard reset screen’Press power button once, and then again to confirm hard reset. If you have a custom recovery installed, your phone won’t hard reset and will boot into recovery mode.Your phone will boot into recovery mode.*Use Volume buttons to navigate Up and Down between options and use Power button to select an option in recovery (if in case it’s not touch supported)

I am not sure the difference between a soft or hard brick. But currently my G3 will not go past the LG screen. I can use the hardware keys to get to stock recovery and when i do factory reset it goes dark and the LED's blink but nothing happens. Is this hard bricked? Also, know a way to get to recovery now?
I am stuck.

hi, I am Brazilian, so my English is bad...
My problem starts when my volume buttons no longer work (hardware problem), and must use cwm to exchange kernel / rom ...
until then thought it would be impossible to enter the recovery mode, but then met the ADB, and the command "adb reboot recovery" could go into recovery mode ...
but is only possible to navigate using the volume buttons, with the exceptions touch versions of cwm (and from what I saw in the pictures tqrp also allows touch)
does anyone know how can I do?
and finally, if anyone can help me, I will be grateful Many Voices

Flash TWRP instead. It's way better, and navigation is done via touch screen and not via volume buttons (which I hate using even when they are functional).
And you can boot to recovery mode if you enable advanced reboot menu. There are many ways to do so, depending on your ROM. I have GravityBox, so it's enabled via one of the options there.
