Hi fellas!
I`ve been having some problems with my HTC HD2 ever since I bought it about 6 months ago. Sometimes it works perfectly well, but once in a while it gets extremely laggy and even freezes. Then I have to reboot the phone (by removing the battery) in order to get it to work again.
My phone is up to date with the newest ROM from HTC. After the last ROM update (1.66.409.1(76641)NOR) I have quit using exchange. This helps to some degree. But if I start using exchange again it gets screwed up. However, there is now a problem with the SMS application. When I use the SMS application this application freezes, but the rest of the phone is still working.
Do any of you have any suggestions on how to fix this?
I actually complained to HTC about three months ago and they gave me a new HD2, but the problem is still existing. So I have no idea what the problem might be..
It would make me very happy if someone here could help me out

most probably you dont have much space in your phone memory...these steps might help you clear out some space..
you should install cleanram as it helps free some ram...also get cleartemp as it'll show you what's eating your space up like googlemap and youtube caches so you can delete them easily...and finally don't forget to soft reset
one more very important thing which saves a LOT of space if you're on stock rom or your cooked rom doesnt have it(highly unlikely) is moving the album cache...read the thread here and look out for 4tune's cab
you should also read tboy200's thread and look at tips 65 and 67
with regards to your sms issue, how bout you try updating to the latest messaging client ? im using 2015 and its cut out the crazy lags...

You could also try to install a task manager, or use the built it one, WinMo is famous for leaving applications open in the background, if you have a stock 6.5 rom I would almost bet this is a big part of your issue ...
First off: Let me clarify that I searched the forums but could not find any thread that described my problem. If this has already been answered, please help me close this thread.
I'd been running the Desire V5 Android build with Jul 23rd zImage for a while now without any problems.
I recently started having lag, slowdown and non-responsive touchscreen (I'd have to wake my device many times before it started responding). Last evening, it stopped responding completely. I pulled the battery and booted back to Windows, only to see that that touchscreen wasn't working even there!
Worried, I flashed the shipped ROM for my T-Mo HD2 - no SPL (RUU_Leo_1_5_TMOUS_2.10.531.1_Radio_Signed_15.34.50.07U_2.08.50.08_2_Ship) and the touchscreen started working again.
I thought everything was fine and started Android, and found that the touchscreen stopped working.
Now, even reflashing the shipped ROM doesn't seem to do anything.
What can I do? Should I do a Task <what>? Has anyone seen/had this problem before? I'm hoping it isn't defective hardware.
Ok, got it working
Ok, I got it working again.
1. I did a Task 29 using (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=644781&highlight=Task29, ShaDrac's repack).
2. Flashed a ROM (I used the T-Mobile stock ROM, but I guess anything else would have worked too).
Hope this helps if someone else faces the same problem!
I wonder why this happened, though.
Im glad you got it fixed
Maybe you can put a [fixed] or something in the thread title to help others?
Just a thought

Guess I spoke too soon! The problem is back, and this time I didn't even boot into Android. Guess it's the hardware. I'll just have to install the stock ROM with SPL and go back to T-Mobile!

I have the same problem. Right now, I think it's the hardware. Just sat down the other day with my HD2 in my pocket. Maybe it has been bent or something like that. I don't know....
the same thing is happening to me..at first if i locked my phone and the screen wudnt respond..now it wont respond at all..i tried flashing it..still not working!!..has to be something with android..i installed a new android build the day b4....or the new cookies home tab replacement...i installed that too...dont kno wat to do now...
I have had the same exact problem.. the touchscreen stopped working when my friends and some chicks were taking pic (EMBARASSING ) ).. and i even tried it on windows mobile, didnt work. tried that yellowish button in the back of the phone to reset it.. nothing happened.. so i plugged in my phone to charge up (IN WINDOWS since i couldnt boot into android.) It was charging the whole night, and when i woke up the issue is gone, havent had it at all after that.
i am almost positive its hardware; you all are describing the same exact problem i had a month back. i finally had enough and called htc, found out the phones are warrantied for a year and sent it in for repairs. took about 3 weeks and my phone was back, 100% fixed and cost me nothing out of pocket (well except the cost of shipping the phone to them). instead of fighting it, call htc......i was so glad when i got this problem fixed it was so damn annoying! good luck all
Thread moved to Q&A.
I had the same problem a few months back. It is certainly hardware. I had this problem before android was available on our hd2's. I task29'd it, flashed to stock rom, and reverted to stock spl. Nothing fixed it so I had to send it back to T-Mobile.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
Hey guys, this is my first post on XDA as I'm usually lurking or keeping up with updates. I've searched many forums for an answer to my problem but it does not seem that anyone has had the same issue.
Anyway, lately I've run into the problem of an unresponsive touchscreen. I can't even unlock my phone! Two nights ago I made three consecutive calls and about ten minutes later I couldn't unlock my phone.
In order to correct this problem, I first took off the screen protector to no avail. I was running CM7, flashed a sense ROM, flashed my backup of the stock ROM, went back to stock with S-ON, pulled the battery a bunch of times, completely wiped, removed the SD card, Soft & hard reset at a VZW store. Nothing.
Took it with me to school today, powered it on and before it completely loaded I was able to unlock it by chance, skipped the setup and it was working fine all day. I was hella overjoyed... until it did it again tonight. D: I so want it to be OS issues rather than hardware because I don't want to wait two days to get a 'reconditioned' TB from VZW.
HALP! Please? Thanks, guys for even looking!
MP
P.S. I do apologize if I did not follow proper procedure to post or posted in the wrong subforum. S:
I'm frustrated and sitting around with an unrooted TB, ohnoes. (Although the screen looks sexy as hell without a screen protector.)

sounds like it could be a digitizer(hardware related) issue. on the plus side, you can pickup a new digitizer pretty cheap... downside though is you'd have to open up the phone to replace it. it's not that hard to do and there's videos online showing you how to.. you'd just have to be comfortable i suppose.
i'd just fix it rather then going the refurbished route considering that god know's what was wrong with it before it became "refurbished" not to mention you have no idea how much use the phone had been put through and how much life it has left.
Just a "heads up"....
On October 28th I got my HTC Titan and it has been the best phone I've had in my hands. Until this morning.
I stared the day by reading email. I put the Titan on the table and went for a cup of coffee. As I was standing by the coffee machine I saw the phone rebooting. "OK", I thought, "that was strange". But I let it boot, hoping that was it.
But that wasn't it. It kept rebooting. The longest time it went without rebooting was 10 minutes, but often it restarted every 1 minute or so.
I tried pulling the battery, and restarted. Still rebooting.
I tried removing my apps, such as Rowi and Spotify. Still rebooting.
I tried a hard reset, and added my accounts (Exchange, Twitter, Facebook). Still rebooting.
I tried another hard reset. Still rebooting.
I sent it to service. Hopefully they'll find out why.
The only other similar issues I've been able to find are issuses with HD2 and the SD-card. But the Titan only has built in memory. If this is the culprit, I would really, really like to know what caused this as I haven't done anything special.
It does not appear to be a common problem, but have anybody else heard of this?
Update rom to 1.09..
If the Service Center doesn't upgrade (and the error returns), I will consider this. (It's this one, right?)
I was just hoping that a brand new phone would last longer than 10 days before I "hack" into it. As it is so new, I don't want to do anything to break my warranty.

... and just to be sure: Is this just a general suggestion, or do you know it to solve my problem?
It is an official ROM that means you will not lose the warranty.
This ROME is intended to solve restart problems, wifi drops etc.
Great! If Service does not upgrade, and/or it happens again, I'll try that first.
if you havnt tried it yet you should try a new sim-card. we have had quite strange behavior with a couple of titans here at work with sims that were about 2 years old. with new sim-card - no problemas.

My SIM-card was from 2006(!) so we tried that first.
But thank you for the suggestion.

hmm, another thing - i know norway has come a long way on the "mobile-office-extention" - we now has something similar in sweden and my titan is connected to our companyswitchboard - and if i make some changes to our part(cisco) (not Telias, our carrier) and im in any kinda call with me titan it will enter an almost always neverending hang. if i disconnect my titan from our swithboard i still hasnt experienced a single hang.
not a solution but something to perhaps help you along the way =)
I've been having this exact same problem - and I only received the phone yesterday! I'm going to wait for a reply from HTC before flashing a ROM although I was disappointed to note that their website doesn't even have a support page for the Titan.
Does anyone know where the updated ROM actually came from so that it is known and not just reported to be an official ROM?
deinstall the HTC apps, this solved it for me!
my sim-card is really old, no issues with that, also I am running the 1.09 Rom

I didn't think of that, as I didn't thought it was possible! It never even occured to me that it could be done.
If that makes it work, then we should tell HTC. They are certainly not helped by their own flawed software...

HTC have said that the 1.09 ROM on here is not an official ROM, since an official ROM would come over Zune.
I have been advised to either re-set the phone to factory default or contact the retailer about a replacement. I seriously doubt a re-set will fix this, so I'm likely to have to return it, which is incredibly annoying.
I've received a further reply from HTC, below:
"With regard to the issue being software related - we have not had any confirmation or known faults with the current ROM version on the Titan.
If the issue was found to be an issue with the ROM an update would indeed be issued, but as we have nothing confirmed I cannot say if an update will be provided to fix this at this moment."
If other people are having this problem then it needs to be reported to HTC before they will do anything.

I don't know exactly how it works now, but before there were two kinds of ROMs. The one released to everyone, and the ones given to service centres in case of bugs.
I believe this is a situation for the latter.

If this would not be an official version it won´t be possible to flash it without an unlocked bootloader..

I guess what I am asking is:
Is it possible to flash the 1.09 ROM without an unlocked bootloader or not?
Yes,without unlocked bootloader,it is official rom
Awesome

Hello guys,
I'm a noob, and this is my first thread and the reason why I'm here are my problems with my HTC Desire X.
I already read the rules and I was searching for a similar thread, but I did not found anything. I was reading a lot of threads here, but I decided to open a new one.
The problem:
I have this Desire X for 5 monts (CID: HTC_032) and it was working great until two weeks ago. Two weeks ago, I got the update for Jelly Bean 4.1.1 (software num: 2.20.401.5). After the installation, the phone continue working great, but after 5-6 days, the problems begun.
Now the phone is not usable, in sense that the keyboard is useless, so If I try to type something, the middle row of the keyboard is untouchable, if I try to touch A, either I get Q or Z. Also if I try to touch some icons on the main screen in that area its not registered ( I need to press 4-5 times so the app is activated )
I have tried to do a factory reset many times and the phone after some of the resets is working great for some hours, and then is getting jerky again..I assume that some memory is filled after a while and the phone is not usable..
I was reading for installing the stock ICS, but I'm not sure if that will solve the problem. I mean, is there anyone else that has this problem or maybe you guys already identified this problem. I'm little bit sceptic that this might be a hardware problem, or it is a software one?
I would appreciate if you help me identify and solve the problem

Reading your post, it seems like a faulty digitizer, which only HTC can replace. Have you ever installed custom roms? If not, get it to HTC as quickly as possible.

Thanks for your post..I have only installed the update via the legal Software Update button, nothing else..
So, it is a hardware problem, like I was thinking..but I'm confused why it was working nice before two weeks and now suddenly start doing this stuffs..
Anyway probably I would take it to a service, because it is still under warranty and I would be happy if I get a new one..

Hardware can randomly fail. I've had many phones work one day and the next day they would refuse to work. I'd say get it to service center as quickly as possible before the entire digitizer fails.
