I would appreciate any input re adding (functioning) Android Market to a ROM
that doesn't have it depending on region!
Found it...... to add the Market to a ROM just include Vending.apk while cooking
I also needed to update build.prop under system/
There is a Google apps zip file that you have to flash if you use a Cyanogen Rom. I think they're phone specific though. But all the preinstalled Google stuff is in it.

Some apps disappeared from Market (can no longer be found with either browsing by category or using the search function) after I flashed CM 6.0/6.1 ROM, including FoxyRing, PingChat, Seesmic, Foursquare, etc.
I have tried MarketAccess.apk, no luck.
Could anyone help me please?
Is this because of the Android version? Is froyo not supported by those apps?

OK I admit this a stupid question. Of course it is because Android 2.2 is not supported by those apps. :-S

I find all of the above apps when searching for them. Using Floyo 1.1.9, which is a 2.2 rom

Thank you for your information! I will try replacing my Vending.apk with that from a Floyo ROM and do some investigation.
Tried Vending.apk from Floyo. No luck.
Also compared system versions between the two ROMs. Didn't see any difference.
Totally confused now...

Attached are screenshots to show the version information of my current ROM and the Vending.apk.
It's driving me crazy!
I just flashed Floyo, installed FoxyRing, Foursquared, Seesmic, PingChat with the Market, and saved the four apk files in my sdcard.
Then I restored my CM6.1-RC1 and try to install the four apk files I just saved.
But my phone won't let me install them. It just keeps saying "not installed".
What is the trick that Floyo ROM has done to make it work??
Hi! I am currently using an unofficial port of CM7 on my O1. I downloaded from this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=946354
However, the radio app in this ROM is not pretty good, it won't scan channels and the quality is bad as well. While fiddling with Titanium Backup, I deleted the default app!
I was trying to find the default radio app but couldn't find it. Can someone please help me with installation of the default radio app for O1? I would like to go for the original radio that came with 2.2 since that was perfect for me.
Guys please help me!!
It will not work on CM7. Extract it from the CM7 build.
OK. Well, can you tell me or guide me to some threads which can tell me how to go about it? Or is there any other app that I can use to tune into local radio? Please help me with this.
Download the build that you've flashed and open it with winrar or winzip. Navigate in it to apps and search for the radio app. I think it is called FM.apk. After this, push it via ADB or copy it with root explorer to /system/app.
Don't forget to change permissions.
P.S: also copy FM.odex and change permissions.

Thanks for the info badeaioan. But can you please direct me to any posts which can guide me regarding pushing files using adb? I tried using Ghost Commander but couldn't get it to copy files into the /system/app folder since it is giving me a -Read-only File System error. Can I use Terminal Emulator? If yes, how??? I am not a developer that's why I am asking so many questions.

I do not understand what these instruction are for. Wouldn't the procedure reinstall the rom radio app we do not like? It is too late, am I missing anything? If so, sorry

Hey guys. Copy the file to /system/app/ with the root explorer change the permissions (rw-r--r--) and reboot.
Working on 2.2 with devoid.franco.
Try it and leave your comment.
2.2 Radio app wont work with CM7, Radio app "hacked" by Mik has some problems, if you cant live with CM7 radio app, then I suggest for you to go back to any 2.2.x ROM.
Previous instructions were just for reinstalling CM7 radio app
EDIT: Try this one, see if you like it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1071312

I +1 somanshmittal.
I love the FM radioapp by from LG. Is there any way to work it in CM7.2 !
yes please
The Radio on froyo 2.2 was indeed much better than Cyanogen Mod7.2 . It had 12 channels, as opposed to 6 channels. and auto scan as well. Can someone suggest me how to get a better Radio App than the one on CM7 ?
You would have to buy spirit fm unlocked else try to hack on your own. There is no way yet to make it work. Also as mentioned previously on this forum fm and Bluetooth are on same chip. So turning on one will start the other
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda app-developers app
Since FM & BT are on same chip (H/W), whichever rom u use, it turns on both, only the BT icon is not enabled in default FM
is there a link to the old android market so i can install it on my phone the new market stinks....
This one is for ED05. I'm not sure what ROM you are running though. Hope this helps.

Go into program management - market, uninstall updates; then delete updater (or marketupdater).apk in system\apps.
Should work for any ROM that doesn't start with the latest market by default. (which seems to include even the latest MIUI)

You most likely have to drop them in the /system/app folder if they aren't signed you cant just install them like a normal app they must be put into that folder. Put them there and reboot and they should work, if you want to get rid of them open root explorer and delete/rename the file extension to .bak(or whatever you want)
Yea I know that that, thanks

I'm using these on AOKP, which is built on top of jokers cm9. Some of the them install, some have to be manually placed in system/app, others will not install either way... Hope this helps!

Jelly Bean apk files
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
Hello, I am having some issues with the HTC apps for calendar and contacts and was thinking I could try installing the Google AOSP apps for the respective ones to see if things improve.
I was thinking to take them from the most recent CM10 build from Sept 18th.
When I look under system/app folder I see both the app (calender and contacts.apk), however for each there is also a file with ... provider.apk for each.
Do I need to copy both?
Do I need to "install" both and set persmissions for both?
If someone could walk me through specifically what to do and in what order that would be great.
Thanks very much for any assistance that can be provided.

thanks but how do I know which one will work with my phone and ROM?
Is it just based on the android OS version and not specific phone and ROM version?
For example I am on an ICS Energy ROM for an HTC Amaze.
Would I just take the CM 9 version (201204029)?
I presume I can flash it from my 4ext recovery?
Will it just install all GAPPS and leave my current calender and contacts app there as well?
Can or should I remove them or just leave them?
Thanks for your help and suggestion.

Not sure how AOSP apps will work with a SENSE rom, only have xp installing on a CM rom. So, make backup in 4ext (of existing rom) just in case installing 'em screws things up.
