does one know if the following data can be backed up and restored:
* login data for email accounts
* connection details for wifi networks (AP + password)
* login data for microsoft myphone (and marketplace)
(I'm a bit sick and tired of going through that whole setup proces after flashing a new rom)
thanks
All bar the passwords
I found the answer to your question whilst trying to find the answer to mine... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=631049&page=232&postcount=#2315
I still would like to know where in the Registry I can find the passwords for the WIFI Networks, as the RAPI thingy only brings them over as asterisks... anyone???

Please forgive me if I am posting this in the incorrect location, I am new to this. I have searched threads and google for an answer, I have not been able to find one.
I used the 2.40 unlocker
I flashed my xv6800 with Radio 3.35.04 and ROM 3.35.651.2
I preformed a soft reset prior to Sprint Customizations
Phone booted no problem
Dialed *228 Option 1 - Worked Phone incoming/Outgoing Works Fine
Dialed *228 Option 2 - Worked Phone Reports PRL Version 51056
Phone shows a Sprint PCS Connection, tried to delete, wont delete, don't think this is a problem
Added a Verizon Connection and chose it as default
Verizon Connection -
Modem - Cellular Line
Dial - #777
User Name - (Phone Number)@vzw3g.com
Password - vzw
Domain - Empty
Use Server Assigned IP
Use Slip - Unchecked
Use Software Compression - Checked
Use IP Header Compression - Unchecked
Use Server Assigned Addresses
Proxy - This Network Connects to the Internet
Error Report - Cannot connect for an unknown reason
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance
I'm having a similar issue but with dcd 3.2.0 and radio 3.42. I've made my own connection with the correct info and I get the same error... I'll be interested to hear any solutions/suggestions.
try ##778 then send or # depending upon the rom.
go to view , security. in there check your usernameand password. normally password is dec esn of your phone.
Did you run the Verizon Carrier cab? I bet you didn't. If not, then the phone doesn't have the encrypted handshake code or whatever it uses to access the data network. Run the Verizon carrier cab and reboot the phone and see if it works then.
Tried....
Got rid of the Sprint connection, all setting appear correct, same error though

even if you ran the carrier cab once, you are supposed to run it again after activation someone said if you were having data issues.
if that still doesn't help, you may need to manually add/edit your shared secret keys for the data.
Please read this thread and see if it helps:

Im sorry, I mean I tried it after you suggested it, after activation (*228 is activation, correct?) Im going to check out the link, thank you

I might be wrong, but instead of
Dial - #777
User Name - (Phone Number)@vzw3g.com
Password - vzw
Domain - Empty
what works for me is
username - phone#
password = vzw3g

It would help to offer advice, if we knew your ROM Version and Radio Version, works good to put them in your sig ....
I have Axlor v.3 Ita and 2.12.50.02 Radio
used team win manual recovery method since revelationary failed me at that stage. I got everything to work, but google (gmail specifically) won't authenticate... is there any simple fix to this problem?
Try clearing the data on the gmail app and rebooting. Or since you have root you can boot into recovery and clear cache and davlik cache and see if that helps. If not then log into your gmail account via pc then try logging into your account on your mobile.
Locked & Loaded
"" Shooter on Deck""
I have done things multiple times as suggested. Still to no avail. Any other possible ideas?

i have two factor authentication turned on and this requires an application specific password to be setup for each instance android wants to log into your google account. when i ran revolutionary, their methods are *secret* so i can't explain why, it reset my google account passwords. with the two factor authentication it took me a little bit longer to create another application specific password for the android device.
otherwise, once you wipe the data folder for gmail, gmail will essentially be clean and restored to a brand new state. all data settings for gmail should be kept on the /data partition in its specific /data/data directory.
worse case scenario, create a nandroid so you have everything backed up and then start removing setting files on /data. best case scenario, you're able to wipe out only gmail settings and it resets it so the point you're able to log in again.
usually, gmail authentication is linked to your google account authentication for the whole android device. contacts, calendars and gmail should all use the same google account authentication. if you're still experiencing issues, you might want to wipe the account settings to allow it to start fresh, which should also be stored on the /data partition.
best of luck!
I've spent the whole night trying to figure this out so hopefully the information is useful for some of of you
The usual scenario is that the phone is encrypted due to using Exchange email (eg. Corporate email) and now you can't upgrade or root it. The first thing to do is to delete that email account and hopefully the phone will decrypt itself or the option appears when you go to phone security settings. You can also try to access the corporate email via a browser and delete the mobile connection.
This worked for me previously but it doesn't now - I don't know if its because I'm using a non-stock rom. Either way a lot of people seems to be stuck with a Samsung rom as well. So you now have a phone with the exchange account gone and its restriction so you should in theory be able to removing the decryption but no it doesn't work. I don't know why as this is a basic OS stuff.
At this stage you can try to full wipe it - but this doesn't work, both through settings or CWM. The only way to sort this out is to copy / backup all your information then flash it to factory state and this means using odin and a stock rom. I've done this several times and there is no lasting issues.
I''m by no mean an expert and would be happy for anyone to correct me
Hi,
today I wiped my phone clean to install the stock ROM cleanly, and after I accepted the "sync" options for my google account, it synced the useful stuff (wifi passwords etc), but it also synced some private stuff that I would really like to delete, however I couldn't find any way to access that data.
I googled a lot but I can't find any info regarding this, so hoped someone with more knowledge could help me out. Thanks!
Didn't know the question was that difficult still seeking assistance.
