Hi.
A have question. Nokser is leave building wp7, that's my sugestion.
So, maybe someone else has building this OS?
Really sory 4 my language.
Bye.

Summmer time Holiday - wait and You waiting be rewarded

Yeah, i now. This summer is crazy. xD
But U now, i want see WP7 on my Toshiba in this year.
WP7 themes is cool.
See ya

Just be patient People have lives outside of the forum.
I've asked Nokser if I can help out with the android project, perhaps I should also have asked about helping with the W7 as well (I have no mobile dev experience, but am a J2EE dev).

WP7 is not ready yet. Better situation is with Android...

I have seen another OS in Toshiba.
i hope to 1st OS is WP7. but android i like too.
See ya
A have idea.
Is possible run iPhone OS on the Toshiba?
It's sound crazy, but interesting.

Hey!
Why anybody cook Windows 7?
It's different system, but i hope it is good.

maybe, because it is not ready, you KNOW. did you use any of WM7 devices so far?
easy man, it will be ported as soon as it is possible.
can you imagine running windows 8 on your PC now?
many people working on android and still nothing, so sit back and relax, you know.
PS
pisz zrozumiale albo nie pisz w ogóle

But... what help me this J2EE dev??

Nokser, if U can tell us how look project WP7?

This is now the 3rd thread at my count discussing WP7 for TG01 including Noksers.
The tools to build a WP7 rom are just not available to us at the moment, i understand there is development in this area on the HD2 but that doesn't mean that it will ever come to the TG01. I hope it will, but i doubt it will be for a while yet. We can't even get android running and we have devs that know linux. WP7 is a completely new beast that we must tame and constantly asking " is it available, will you make it for me, i want it now" won't speed up the dev process.
I understand that discussing these things is helpful but these threads are fairly pointless. If you want info on porting WP7 then go to the WP7 section of the forums, badgering nokser or anybody else will not make it happen and opening a new thread just makes the relevant information difficult to find.

WM2005 etc. Newbie Questions

Hi,
I'm the proud owner of a T-Mobile MDA II with vga camera. Half an hour ago I happend to find this interesting forum.
What is this Windows Mobile 2005? I've never heard of it. I searched the Microsoft website, but I didn't find anything.
I have no idea which OS is installed on my MDA... the ROM version is 1.72.01GER (in case that helps).
So... in case I want to upgrade my MDA.... what do I have to do, where do I get the files from etc. And, what is this upgrade all about? Is it a totally new OS, or what is it? I have no idea
Thanks for your help
Bye

Hi Bauer,
I too am a newbee. Just joined this forum about a month ago. If I may give you a clue ( though I'm not an expert in it), the Windows Mobile 2005 is supposed to be the next mobile phone OS from Microsoft. It is said to have many more user-friendly features than the one you are currently using. However it has not yet been officialy released in the market (I even doubt if its ready yet). But thanks to our great Buzz Lightyear (http://buzzdev.net) we are fortunate to get the taste of the new promised features. Buzz had managed to create his own version of the said OS and named it the Magneto. Why don't you try to drill further into other area of this forum or go to http://buzzdev.net. I'm sure you'll get the idea, and as it happened to me I'm sure you'll like it too. Good Luck.
Hi again Bauer,
Regarding the question as to where to get ROM upgrade, you can try this link http://www.buzzdev.net/index.php?option=com_docman&task=doc_download&gid=124&Itemid=32 to get the copy of the new ROM upgrade. However you are supposed to register yourself first to be able to access the link. There (and in this forum too) you will get a clear description & instruction for the ROM upgrade.
I would also like to get this opportunity to apologize to the forum (especially to Buzz and the development team) for not being polite enough to say 'thank you' for all the work you've done. I've had no significant problem with either the upgrading process or the tweaking around with both hardware and software (incl. 3rd parties). Everything works fine with my machine since day one I did the upgrade. I love the work. Thank you all, and have a nice day.
Hi Bauer,
Spend time reading the wiki site too which will provide you with a lot of background about your new toy and the sort of things you can tweak/ develop or pick up that others have done.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/
Also learn to use the search function of this website as you can find most of the answers for yourself without relying upon good folk to give the same advice to the next newbee in the queue asking the same questions ('nuff said, we've all been newbees at sometime).
Once you've read relevant parts of the wiki and are comfortable that you want to risk changing your ROM (there are numerous pitfalls you risk (e.g. warrantee invalidation) and ultimately totally killing your machine if you have two left feet/ power surge/ massive bad luck etc) search these forums will educate you to the experiences of others developing/ beta testing/ exploring. Buzz's versions of WM5 are narrated a:

Remember to pay due homage to all his hard work.
Beyond that enjoy.

[Q] Can we expect Windows 7 Roms?!

Hey guys,
let me start with a quick BIG thanks to all the great chefs in the HD2 cooking class! I have seen many improvements in my device from it's original ROM and it seems it is getting better and better every day! Now my question is when can we realistically expect Windows 7 on HD2? I've seen that it's been cooked in (as shown in yahoo) already but do we have an estimate of when we can have a working ROM? is anybody working on it? is there any problems with the upgrade and our device compatibility?
Well Mr. Observer, let me start by saying your observation skills are lacking. You would know that realistically the first question you should ask yourself is, When was the last time a rom chef had given an ETA for a rom that they had no drivers for was? Or even better, When was the last time a rom chef had given an ETA for anything?
Start with those questions, and then you'll soon come to an answer.
No, you shouldn't
tomorrow.

I think he is not asking for a firm ETA.
more like if there are any cooks already working on it.
XDA cooks are known to do wonders and that's why he is wonder if anyone is cooking anything soon.

I think people like you take all the energy out of everything.. personally i find critical people very useless! if you have nothing to add to the conversation then why join it? looking back at your last few posts (where you're giving **** to someone for spelling errors in a worldwide site where many people use English as 2nd or 3rd language) i really come to understand your attitude pretty well.
....ignoring the above and going back to my original question! I know you guys like to keep it a surprise but is anyone actually working on it good people?
here is a link to what seems to be a legit coocked rom from Cotulla

I can tell you exactly what Windows 7 on HD2 will not, but the Windows Phone 7 possible!

There will never be a Windows Mobile 7 for the HD2.
another lame thread as usual
OK, the thread is pretty bad, and could probably have been avoided with a bit of research. Still, i dont understand why you all cry in despair when a new thread pops up..Its not as if it was costing you money personnaly when a lame thread appears...
just let it go down if you are not interested. I also am interested to see developements in W7 for HD2, but cant really be bothered to browse other websites, so if people have interesting info they are willing to share, it could be interesting.

The reason it pisses some folk that some people would rather just post a thread rather than use the Search function on this site.
Now if you do a search for WP7 on the HD2 you will get loads of threads instead of just a few - all because some folks were to lazy to do a search.

I will pay developers to help me

Any developers out there that would like to help me learn to develop
help in any way......
roms, kernels etc

Are you a software engineer? Do you actually know how to program? If so, what languages? You'll have to tell us your current knowledge level. There's a big difference between 'how do I set up the Android SDK on my computer?' vs. 'what's C++?'.

This, first off, develops won't spend large amounts of time helping you out to learn to develop (assuming you have some knowledge of C++ and Javascript) which would still take forever.
Second, you can learn to develop by yourself by using google.

Yes it was rude of him. However it is correct, you could post this in the general forum or in the question for if you re word it to a question. There are plenty of free tools out there that will help you learn to develop. Like stated earlier, Google is your friend.

I work for a software development company but as tech support
I dont know how to program.
I took C++ a few years ago but forgot everything. I am very knowledgeable with computers, just a noob on android development.
People read this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=871476
I'm thinking he put this here to grab the devs attention probably assuming they don't spend much time in the general section I could be wrong though and until development is actually being discussed this is not a development thread its a question I'm not trying to be rude I'm just looking at this from an outside view carry on

Could you answer the questions I asked in my last post? I think it'll help you find help faster.
(Sorry for the prick who first answered you - ignore him.)
EDIT: nvm, I notice you answered my original post already.
will everyone settle the f down about the section. god you guys are like flies on sh*t. if a moderator feels this is the wrong section, it will be moved. DONE
to answer your question man: i hate to break it to you, but youre not likely to find much personal help here, much less on any forum. mainly because of what you are seeing in this thread: people are d*cks online.
like many people have said, and i know this isnt the answer you want to hear, youre probably gonna have to teach yourself. only because i guarantee you, even if someone taught you the steps on how to code, build, compile etc, you still probably wouldnt fully understand why it works the way it does.
i recently developed the desire to learn how to build kernels, but i never even began to think about asking for help here because i knew i would get the type of idiotic responses youve received, so i faced the music: if i want to learn, im gonna have to start reading.

So you want to know how to work on the Android OS, but don't know how to program? It seems like you'd first need to learn how to program.. and there are certainly better ways to learn than from an XDA developer!

Cyanogen started a very helpful thread in the android dev forum. It's stickied.
From a phone
You have a large amount of fundamentals to learn first. Software development courses are quite easy to find online. You'll want to learn C++ and Java... since Android apps are written in Java.
After you have learned the fundamentals of software development, *then* you might be ready to learn how to get the Android OS source on your computer to start playing with it.
I'm very inyerested in learning also and would gladly pay for a develepers time

Ok thats what i was looking for. Thank you, I appreciate it!!
Also note that if you learn one programming language - i.e. C++ - other programming languages will come more easily to you. Regardless of which language you're using, 60%+ of everything is the same - i.e. for loops, if statements, classes, inheritance, etc. Syntax is largely similar.
Also keep in mind the high level differences between languages like C++ (which is a very low level language) and Java (a higher level language).. for example, in C++ you *really* need to worry about disposing of objects correctly, whereas languages such as Java and C# have their own Garbage Collector which does these things for you. This is just one example.. there are many many others.

[Q] WebOS on a Hero... Is it possible???

I didn't find anything similar on these forums, so I decided to start new thread...
Here's an idea...
So, my question is to all developers that are still interested in the old Hero -
IS IT POSSIBLE TO COOK SOME WEBOS BUILD FOR THE HERO?
Since the WebOS is now opensourced, I guess we all can find some workarounds to make this happen...
By the way, I LOVE the interface and the way WebOS works... Don't you?
...
Actually, I need 10 posts too... But also wanted to hear some opinions on this...
Anybody??? No one?? ...
I don't think so, cause Hero does not have unlocked bootloader like HD2, and WebOS is working on else architecture, that there aren't drivers and kernel for hero.
We can unlock the bootloader, there was a topic about it in the development section not too long ago. The main problem i think is that we don't have that many devs any more :/

I was about to propose that we discuss it together so we could both get 10 posts, but I*can see you already got them. Lucky you
