I did a battery wipe, but it seems to have made my battery readings worse. A friend told me to let the phone completely die and then fully recharge. Should that help?
Yes, that will help. Its called calibrating the battery.

Ok..the phone is dead now. Does it matter if I do the full recharge while its off or on?
Do it while it's off.
When you do a wipe while installing a new rom do the battery stats get wiped?
Related
I see alot of people are doing this after flashing Das Bamf
I did after installing 1.3, and it just seemed to make my battery drop like crazy, and then at times, not drop at all. I just installed 1.3.1. so should i do a battery stat wipe? what purpose would this serve?
I am not sure the "best practice" on wiping battery stats. I was always under the impression that you should charge to 100%, wipe stats, and then leave on charger until the battery is at 100%.
Not sure if it is best to then do a complete discharge cycle before putting the device back on the charger. I really do not know what the battery stats includes. I always thought it contained battery calibration data.
I'd really like to know this as well.

I think thats what it contains as well, however should i be plugged in while wiping? I always go to the battery stat menu in CWM, then right before i hit Yes, i unplug
I also read the same the thread (got the same rumor), after two battery wipes and fresh rom flashes (from 100%), in either case (on both VIRUS and BAMF) my battery mysteriously goes back to 86%. I can charge it back to 100% again but kinda thinking I shouldn't of wiped it. That or I'm doing it wrong.

Mine does the same thing!! Well, 87%, lol i think maybe our phones are saying 100 when in reality its 86 or 87? also got to keep in mind that rebooting afterwards drains battery like crazy.
Try "bumping" the battery, search battery bump to see the steps, mine use to do the same thing, from 100 to 93 after reboot, now stays in 100.

should i wipe battery stats i switching from extend. battery to stock. or only when switching roms? when does this matter?
[Also i know this doesn't belong here but my PC is really slow do easiest way is to ask: is there someway to search all my posts at once as they're becoming hard to keep track of ?]

I switched back to my stock battery after my extended died. I wiped battery stats, wiping stats when flashing new roms is recommended.
Wiping battery stats is never really considered an essential thing to do no matter what. It is nice though to do. I suggest it when you start realizing crap battery life on one ROM/kernel compared to the last one. The suggested way is to wipe it after installing a new kernel and as well as when you swap batteries. Other than that, really no need to in my eyes.
I wipe after every new ROM install, period.

This is when I do it also.
Digging up a thread here, didn't want to waste a new one.. But I have the OEM Extended Battery and I tried wiping my battery stats.. Charge full, reboot into recovery, wipe stats, unplug.. After this I noticed that my battery said 93% even tho the charge light was green.. I drained it until it turned off and charged again overnight.. In the AM, light was green, i turned phone on and its still showing 93% even though it was green. Any ideas? Did I lose that 7% forever?
Sometimes wiping the stats causes a bad battery read. A few reboots should get you back on track. If that doesn't work, try a full battery drain then a full charge. Let us know.
Will try that, even tho I kinda did already. I'm hoping with a few battery cycles the problem goes away.. What Im hoping is I don't need to bump charge now every time like I did when I had my inc

I doubt you lost anything. It would be like Spinal Tap having an amp which only went to 9.
I only had to wipe when my battery wasn't decreasing in percentage. After I wiped, it started decreasing like it should. I would think any fast reduction in percentage would be a bad battery.
Are there any proven facts out there that it is really ever necessary to wipe them? It's not like it actually improves battery life am I correct?
as far as wiping battery stats goes.
i have only used it when reconditioning a battery.
ie if you start noticing bad (read: worse that you have been getting) battery life after flashing a new rom or kernel. or just after a time using a standard rom.
what i do is
1 turn the phone off.
2 charge it on AC until it goes green and for an hour afterward.
3 unplug it and wait 30 seconds.
4 plug it back in and repeat step 3 until the light goes from red to green within 20 or so seconds. (this is called bump charging)
5 boot into CWR and wipe battery stats. and let it burn all the way down until it wont even turn on (flashing orange led)
6 charge to full and enjoy your maybe improved battery life.
when wiping battery stats, do i have to do it a few times or no? i wiped battery stats at full and drained battery until it turned off twice.. once wiping the stats with CWR and once, and after a cycle, with the 'battery calibrate' app (made by someone here on xda i believe)..
seems to be working okay i guess, but lets say i have 94%, i reset my phone and it comes back with only 84%.. it appears it's still reading my battery wrong by around 10%. is this normal?
It doesn't happen at every reset, looks like just the first one of the day. I guess I can charge to full, reboot, and charge to full again as a workaround.

i meant to ask this before but I forgot, can anyone try to do that and let me know if it happens to them too or if its just me
Charge with phone on until full then turn it off and charge.. about how long does it stay amber?

Would u tell when to unplug charger after which step
And should to remove battery stats from recoveryas well as through that app????
Charge your phone to 100%, reboot into recovery remove your charger than wipe battery-stat. Reboot. Use your phone as regular use and let it die (completely to 0%) of battery with no charging in between. After that charge your phone to 100% at a stretch without any break like at night from 0% to 100% without break.

Calibration of Li-Ion batteries is nonsense. You can do any ritual and accompany it by a pole dance when the moon is full and it will have about the same effect like these "calibrations" and snake oil utilities that claim to perform such things.
These batteries degrade by heat. If you still insist, simply let it discharge until the phone turns off, charge to 100%, wipe the stats, repeat once more. Done. No utilities needed.

Battery Drain
I've been thinking about this the other day that the battery calibration app & wiping battery stats in recovery were just the same.
I just had the weirdest battery drain after I uninstalled the battery calibration app last night. I had around 80% battery before I slept & had almost 9 hours of sleep. When I woke up, I only had 35% battery??!! I'm using Devoid Franco plus his kernel & the phone was just idle as far as I know.
My fully charged battery lasted for a day & a half prior to this shocking battery drain.
Has anyone had a similar experience?
Hey all, I did a quick search but didn't find an obvious answer. I've tried quite a few GB Roma on my Thunderbolt and I know it's good to periodically reset battery data through ClockworkMod. I'm looking for a specific order of operations. The following is how I've been doing it. Charge fully, reboot into recovery. Unplug phone. Clear battery info. Shut down phone and plug in until fully charged. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Just download battery calibration from the market. Once your phone is fully charged, wipe battery stats in the application and then unplug your phone and let it die. Then charge your baby back up.
I believe that application won't let you wipe the battery stats until it's fully charged.

Battery Calibration app is the easiest way for clearing battery stats. I notice after after two days I see huge improvement in battery life. Remember after that first full charge and clearing the stats make sure you let your phone die.

... Doesn't batterstats get wiped after a new rom flash anyway
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
I have a problem.
Since I bought a 1350 mAh battery for my Xperia Mini Pro, my mobile don't show me the right battery status
When I tried charging it first time it stucked by 81% and didn't charged more.
And now my mobile doesn't charge more then 79% and always shut down by itself.
Then I tried to use my old battery again (which now doesn't load more 86%) und stucked there. Like 3-4 hours just 86% when I used it. Then it shutted down.
Does anyone know how to help me?
Wipe battery stats.
Then charge it full without a hold:good:

Wipe battery stats and calibrate battery (apps from Google Play) after the full charge
Can you Show me a good calibrate app?
I use BatteryCalibration from Google Play and it works perfectly!
I have wiped battery stats but after that I wasn't able to use my new battery normally.
It always shutted down although I had full charged.
Anyone know how to help me?
So many times it was here and still same. delete batery stats is just myth. If you dont belive go check source code and good luck.
And yeah, if you have problem battery like this just try charge batery to full (ignore % on mobile and keep battery about 2 hours on charger then you discharge and you will see. If dont help few cycle there be problem with battery. But wipe stats even in 1 day of month on midnight cant solve self this. Btw this kind of problem i saw on many older phones w/o android and also working this.
Hey and tell me, what exactly doing this calibrate apps? Some kind of placebo effect or changing chemistry in battery?
