hi there, i recently upgraded my rom from the orginal orange one, as my phone was playing up. it was always not wanting to wake up from going in to standby without doing a soft reset. so then i upgraded to the WM6 vinilla rom, the same thing happened then but it was alot worse, then upgraded to the 0.21 rom. and im still getting the problem, without having any new programs installed its still doing it, so im not to sure whats the cause?
heres some info about it. Im in the UK with the network Orange too.
Thanks.
Radio Version: 1.06.00.00
Protocol Version: 32.37.7010.01W
ROM Verion : 3.22.110.1
Hi,
I have also recently upgraded from the original Orange rom etc to XDA Live 0.2.1. I also had occasional (only occassional) failure to wake up issues.
Since upgrading I have not had this, and the ROM is much faster and seems more stable. Today I upgraded my radio to 1.27 as well, but too early to comment on that.
I also use Phone Alarm, SPB Time, SPB Weather, and Pocket Plus. I had an issue with PA not changng profiles automatically but reverted to an slightly earlier version and touch wood it seems to have resolved it.
Can't really advise much theefore, but maybe the fact mine works (so far) could rule out a few things.
its really annoying, i would of thought that flashing a new rom it would be fine. but its still playing up, alot worse, i have to soft rest the phone everytime i want to make a phone call or to check i have a text. cant stand much longer of this. where can i get that radio rom from?
just flashed it with xda live 0.10 this time see if thats any better.
still no luck, fronzen about 4 times since i last posted. just wont wake from sleep, even if i set it to stay on without the backlight it will still freeze, im testing without a sim card in atm to see if that makes a difference,
anyone what can be causing this?
thanks.
@bomber456
Your Problem With The Calls In WMXL Is That If You've Upgraded Straight From The Orange ROM Then You Have An Old Radio Installed. Upgrade You Radio After Installing The WMXL OS And That Should Help Iron Out Your Calling Problems.
Cheers
Are you using a micro sd card?
If so, try starting from scratch WITHOUT putting the card anywhere near the phone. (ie don't use the card at all until you can prove it has nothing to do with it.)
Just a thought. I am sure some cards caused problems. (although I am using one (sandisk).
EDIT: Just seen Mousey's post - definitely a good idea, although I had the same radio as you using WM6 till I upgraded the radio today, with no problems.
where can i get a good radio for the orange network in the uk?
also i tried it without putting the sd card in and it was still the same. one thing i tried was not to put the sim card in and it was much better, dont think it crashed atall, so its down to the phone side of it.
thanks.
oh another thing, when flashing the rom it said it would take 20 mins, it only took about 5-7 mins maybe less :S is that a problem?
No. The XDA Live install is quicker than a normal rom.
"where can i get a good radio for the orange network in the uk?"
I am using 1.27 - check the wiki for radio only upgrades - same process as upgrading rom to XDA live but with a different file.
I understand that 1.34 or 1.35 are supposed to be OK, but anything from 1.27 should be OK - I have been using 1.27 today with no issues yet, but still early.
I am struggling to find any notes etc to specify the differences or specific advantages of the different radios.
Try one and see - DOESN'T NEED A HARD RESET.
installed 1.34 and its worse. losing signal etc. but im still getting crashes. i dont know what the hell is the fault. its so unstable its unbelieveable.
update : the phone doesnt crash or freeze or anything, if there is no sim card in the device. but it will crash when there is one in, i think its due to switching from 3g to gsm. also ive notcied that sometimes when i boot the phone where its supposed to display the radio and protocol info, it says no GSM!
ive now installed radio 1.27
would any software beable to still be in my phone after a rom upgrade?
any help would be great.
Perhaps try with a different SIM? may be a dodgy SIM...
seemed to work fine with my gfs orange pay as you go sim. but crashed once in a few hours. ive now unlocked my phone and CID unlocked it, and it hasnt crashed once. i think the boot number has cahnged from 04 to 06 too, seems to be stable now, (hopefully)
I dont care what anyone says - the stock rom is faster.
I've been using dcd 3.2.5 for almost a week - like the Rev-A, dont care for the GPS, rest is pretty good.
But I could swear that it was not as responsive as the stock.
So I just got down reflashing the stock rom tonight - sure enough, the phone is much more responsive.
I'm curious as to other's experience since many think that dcd 3.2.5 is faster (just not in my experience)
So now I'll be waiting for the official VZW upgrade sometime this century...
normally, i wouldn't butt in on this; but i've noticed my phone has been much less responsive...
I'm not going to blame anyone or anything yet, but for example, when I'm drafting up a text, I can't even add recipients from my contacts, it just sits there and 'searches' forever...
but yeah, that's just my rant for today
I really do appreciate everyone's work and I try to help out the community wherever I can, so I'm not bashing.
If anyone knows of any software issues that are creating sluggishness, please let me know.
Otherwise, Keep up the good work everyone.
I agree
Also, I wont dare bash anyone for the work that has gone into these roms. I only wish I had the skill to do what some of these guys or doing.
This was in no way meant to bash anyone - just something I noticed
Maybe its some program I was running - who knows
While I loved having Rev-A, overall speed is more important to me right now
I may go back to dcd's rom in a few weeks if I find I really need the rev-a but for now its back to stock and some more playing around
(maybe I'll find out if it was a program I was running or not)
by chance are you using HTC Home?
I originally flashed 3.2.5 with the Pre-Built ROM and noticed the build was a bit sluggish. I have since went back and adjusted the page pool to 8.5 mb and some other minor adjustments and noticed a decent improvement in the response.
scrawnyb - Just to give you something to compare to... I just now tried starting a text message from scratch and there was no wait at all when opening the message app, selecting a contact, and sending. I have approx. 1000 msgs in my sms inbox and around 130 contacts. Also keep 2-3 days worth of my outlook inbox synced (~50megs.. wireless sync limitation ).
I was on 3.2.0 (fairly stable, bit sluggish). Went to 3.2.3 (buggy for me, not much better on speed). By far 3.2.5 has been the best 3.2.x rom so far for me. I have to agree as well that the original stock rom was fast but i can deal with the minor quirks here and there to get Rev A when tethering and GPS. Also I couldn't live without threaded sms now!
It has been so long since I ran the stock VZ ROM that I really could not compare it outright to 3.2.5. But every build since that first upgrade has been faster and less buggy than the last. I would have to say that the speed and lock up issues are getting better every new ROM.
I am NOT going to revert back to stock to do a side by side comparison so take my opinion as just that: my opinion. But that is the great thing about all these talented individuals who are customizing these ROMs for the public. There is more than one choice and you have to try them all to find what you like.
I've definitely noticed a delay. It's gotten to the point where even touching the start menu and accessing folders has become sluggish, making the xv6700(I compared, xv6700 in stock rom vs xv6800 updated) appear LIGHTNING fast.
And I specifically remember when I first got my xv6800, I noticed how much faster it was than my 6700... Infact, STOCK 6800 has more free ram than any custom rom I've used!! (27-28MB free when I had to flash back to fix my data connection)
I started off with dcd and now I'm with nuerom v2.2 and things just keep getting progressively slower. I don't know what to tell anyone
It's something you guys are doing that is causing the problems.... period... Just to test, I'll make a ROM and you can download it and flash, and tell me what ya see....
My experience is with every rom upgrade it gets better and better. I can't believe how fast 3.25 is on mine then 3.22 was. Huge difference and just about perfect.
I would be curious to know what apps you guys are running. Maybe you have something in common that is slowing you down?

I've narrowed it down to one of the following:
HTC Home <- this seems to be the most likely
Wisbar Advance <- don't think it's this
W.I.M.P. <- didn't notice a difference by closing this
Stock ROM was buggy and it drank RAM like water. DCD's ROMs blow the stock out of the water.

no - didnt use it with either rom
My comparison was 3rd party preinstall - tested immediately after flash
I've got some apps on the stock rom now and its slowed down just a bit but still more responsive than dcd's latest version
What you use depends on what you need - I dont need rev-a or gps so I'll take the speed

You do know that Rev A and GPS aren't all you're losing right? Have fun with Windows Mobile 6.0 and its crappy memory management, lack of threaded messaging etc.
If Rev A and GPS are what you don't care about...have you bothered to try dcd 1.7.0? Windows Mobile 6.1 without GPS/Rev A, compatible with 1.x.x radios and Olipro 1.20...
3.2.5 is the fastest rom I've seen on this phone, stock or otherwise; AND I'm running it with HTC Home / HHC.

i agree, although i'm not running HTC Home, or VZW stock rom, but this is by far the best ROM of DCD's i've ever run.
WHAT?
I can't really comment on VW's stock ROM since I've never used it; however, I have USCC and have compared it side-by-side with Sprint's stock, as well as Sprint and USCC stock side-by-side with DCD's 3.2.3 and 3.2.5... Yes, I've flashed the hell outta' the two Titans! My personal experience reflects DCD's 3.2.5 to be the fastest (and even most stable) of all. It's awesome! The only problems I encountered I noticed to occur with HTS Home installed (it would consistantly freeze up the unit). I also S2U2 to conflict with FTouch Flo and Slither's Cube (Sluggish). I read about, and subsequently tried, installing HTC Home via HHC and it worked; however, I don't believe that the resulting performance was worth the programs' actual usefulness. I'm sticking with SPB software. DCD's 3.2.5 is hands-down the best ROM as far as performance/speed goes.
Here's my 2 cents worth.
I like the gps but dont need it. I find that it is not nearly as powerful as my bluetooth gps. Certainly nice to have when i dont have my keys with me (my gps is a keychain model). The other problem is that the gps doesnt seem to work when you are outside USA.
I love revA. The upgrade from stock to anything with revA is almost worth by itself.
The memory management of the stock rom is a problem. So dcd has it hands down there.
But the real killer for me. No ICS on the verizon stock rom. Thats the real reason I went to a custom rom. And so far I like dcd's custom roms far better than anything else out there.
Now I agree that some of the dcd roms have not been perfect. For me 3.2.3 for example just wouldnt float my boat. I stayed with 3.1.6 for the longerst time. But I have to say that 3.2.5 is just about bulletproof. As gc said above 1.7.0 was my favorite non revA/gps rom because it was similar. But for me at least 3.2.5 is great. It's incredibly fast and with all the added goodies it make the titan almost a pleasure to use.
Of course your mileage might vary, but for me I can't see much on the horizon better than dcd 3.2.5 (until perhaps verzion release up gps upgrade rom and dcd and cg pull the guts out of it so that we get "instantaneous" gps lock like our sprint brethren.
I swapped over from Verizon stock to dcd 3.2.23 with Radio 3.42.02, HTC Home / HHC, and WkTask 1.1.7.3.
I've noticed a remarkable increase in battery lifetime (approximately 20%), the speed of the phone hardware/response increase dramatically (I no longer have to wait in seconds for the screen to rotate on sliding the keyboard out), and I now have extra features like GPS and internet sharing, which Verizon locks out of the phone while stock.
All in all, my Titan performs faster with a wider range of uses for longer than stock.

Can the page pool be adjusted without reloading the rom? If so, how? Also, what program are you using to adjust the page pool?
Jeff
question: if you guys arent using HTC home what are you using as a replacement that is as good or better?
just curious... I have HTC Home on an older dcd rom (3.1.6) .. it is the only ROM i have ever put on this device other than stock. If there is a known memory leak then perhaps I will update to 3.2.5 and grab a different today screen app.
so any suggestions?
So, i got my XV6850/Pro today as a replacement for my XV6800 with the stupid screen issues. Nonetheless, what im trying to figure out is does this phone really have awful memory leaks? and do the custom cooked roms fix this? because i initially started my phone off using like... 70something % ram and now im at like 86% with no applications even open.
Looks like a memory leak, main question is... is this problem fixed and in which ROMs?
I also read the wiki and it said that the tools for flashing the Raphael are only for the GSM?! Where can i find CDMA tools for flashing my phone?
I would recommend a hard reset and see if that clears any memory issues. Mine stays in the 35% range running ActiveSync, IM app, and basic phone features. 70% & up with nothing running is ridiculous.
even if im running the verizon version?
weiiird...
I have the alltel touch pro stock rom and run the tp2 manilla, fingersuite, sensor scroll, active sync, and gyrator and still have yet to pass 50%. I know that Verizon crippled the memory but i dont think they did it enough where it would affect your phone like that. Maybe take it to the verizon store and ask them about it.

Good information for CDMA TP
my old fuze died which i put winmo 6.5 on based of a rom i made using the PPC Kitchen.
**edit: this is not the reason it died, infact i loaded a stable build and it worked great with nothing needed for 18months... my screen developed an oily residue... strange enough**
need to flash a new rom on the new phone i got as i had insurance on my old one. havent done it in a over a year so i am not sure what the best and most stable version/build is... and also curious about "radios" not sure what that is.
i am looking for:
stability as i dont plan on flashing often.
improved speaker quality
smaller text
teathering
mobile hotspot
better gps signal pick up
any sugestions?
as always i appreciate any help and will be donating to the rom i use.
Thanks
FYI: Radio are the internal GSM Radio Band, basically the software/hardware combo for an internal antenna. Upgrading to newer Radios sometimes help with battery life, performance, and reception/signal in general.
And for my ROM recommendations, I'd recommend two:
Captain's Special found HERE.
And/or the TAEL ROM [click the image right below this text.]
thanks Zack i went with the latest energy rom. i will give it a go for a couple days and i updated the radio after i updated the rom to 1.02.25.32i will give it a i usually take off TF#D i will give Sences a a small run it looks to be using alot of memory60-75%.
Yeah, HTC Sense is a memory hog... But hey, you must pay for beauty.
Glad to see you selected a ROM. I would've recommended an EnergyROM, but, in my opinion, there's just too much stuff pre-installed [for my taste].
try tael if you want stability. im currently using the latest energy one and my battery dies quickly. but taels battery lasts longer
Morning, Fellow Forumers!
I've been using my HD2 for a few months now, and every day my frustration grows. This thing is unstable as hell. It either stops responding completely, or the phone application hangs (sometimes it's impossible to hang up a call), or just the backlight works, or the UMTS stops working... PAIN AND MISERY! I have it upgraded to the latest official firmware, but it doesn't help at all. Tried the Touch Tools to turn off unneccesary stuff - still no good.
It's even worse when it's BT'd to my Audi MMI. Every 10 seconds or so it's completely stuck for like 2-3 seconds. It looks like the BT firmware has not been optimized at all and whenever it refreshes the phonebook/calls list/etc with my car, the GUI is dead. Fixing that would be great stuff.
So, I'm asking to point me in the right direction. I don't care about warranty or anything, just want this device to be stable! Since the official FAQ is like 10 pages long... is there a FAQ's FAQ?
Basically - what's my first step? Thanks in advance!
PS: It's a retail version (non-branded) purchased in Poland.

As for me I am very happy with my stock Rom,so far...!!
I have no problems with stock and with most of cooked ROMs
Have you tried re flashing the latest stock rom off the htc website?
task29 can solve most problems, however if you have done all those steps and still getting problams, you may have a faulty unit and it might need to be sent back for repair/replacement.
Really sorry to hear about your problems. Wish I could give you a good solution, other than to do a hard reset and then upgrade to the latest ROM. I am running a stock ROM and the HD2 is the best phone I have ever had. And I have had a few. Good luck.
I used my hd2 on a stock rom for ages, and it was stable enough, with the odd crash occassionally. I recommend using a custom rom. Since a custom rom, my battery life has improved dramatically, my hd2 runs faster and is so stable, i cant crash it if i really try!
Duttys V9 is a personal favourite
Thanks for your help, guys. I decided to reflash to chuckyROM's wm + android 2.2. On android, everything works so much smoother. The only problem is in 80% of the cases, phone would crash when I try to perform a BT call. Might be a wrong radio version, will keep trying.
