OK, I spent a bit of time digging through this today... It doesn't look like the screen on/off animation is coded in our services.jar nor in framework-res.apk
Here's what I've found so far...
After smali'ing the services.jar, I found inside of PowerManagerService an entry called mAnimateScreenLights, which was set to true. According to a few posts, I read that this just has to be changed to false to make it work...
I tried that with no success. So I dug a little deeper to find more references of this mAnimateScreenLights... I found only one other reference, and all it is doing is reading the value. it doesn't actually USE the value for any purpose... Or at least it seems that way to me with my limited knowledge of this codebase.
So I'm not sure that the code is there for the screen animation to work... I am going to look at a services.jar from a known good working one from like the OG EVO or something and see if I can piece it together here...
If anyone elses knows anything about this, I've marked it as a WIP/REQ, so I'm looking for help as well...
OK I didn't see the post in the dev forum with it. Haha... This post can be deleted.
Hi everyone!
I read the rules but if i'm writting on the wrong place please to correct me. What is the "dpi"that i read a lot on some post? I can not understand what it is a dpi at 133 or 160? Please explainme. The second one is that i'm not a newbie at all in android but nowadays i've seen many good roms out there and i desired to learn how to customize as i wished and ofcourse, i'll share it! I have reading from many other sources butt got confused on how to start so please i really appreciate your comments.
Regards!
Simply put dpi means dots per inch. The number of dots contained within an area of 1 inch... this is a very common unit of measurement for any visual device be it a phone screen, TV screen, printed document (bubble jet, ink jet) etc, anything that uses individual dots to make an image or text even
You should have gone to Google and typed in "what is dpi" and you would have found your answer.
In regards to moding roms, I don't really mod roms persay, but I have learned tons in my time here on xda, all I can suggest is to go and read the xda forums (not just the legend section either), there is literally 10's of thousands of threads and posts by lots of really bright people who know a hell of a lot more than I do. If your genuinely serious, you need to read, search, learn, do, try, make mistakes and hope you don't kill your phone in the process

Thank you very much for your answer and advices It makes me feel really exited to start now. Well i must apologize for not searched about dpi first, i just forgot about this point, not gonna happend again. Regarding to learn how to customize i'm so curious to introduce myself on that, once again thanks to your opinion... Hopefuly i'll not get a beatiful paperweight :fingers-crossed:
Hi guys,
(you can skip the blablabla to the fat letters )
it's been a while i'm registered and totally stunned of the work which the devs do @ this Forum. For years i think about the possibilities with coding stuff. But always thought it's to hard and take years.
But now with android i will give it a try. Because it would be awesome to write stuff by myself or solve problems with apps cause i understand the code or log output.
The best thing i invented was a Premium account Alarm for Rapidshare. It was just a tiny little script which checks for certain words/banner on the site and will popup the Firefox with an alarmfile i set. And i was proud that i managed that the process was in the background. Acessable through the taskbar... Easy as hell. You see i got no clue but understand a little bit of html. I can search the code of sites for certain stuff i want...No skill at all but reading...
My goal is it to archieve an app which can transform not tapatalk supportetd Forums in a better format. Because i couldn't find anything. And it's annoying for me...
Would it be possible? I don't care if it's not compatible to google play or anyone. I want this because i "need" it. And i guess it's fun for me to develop. If it becomes an high recomended app. Awesome but my goal is to get it to work and have fun.
For now i'm on the Hello World app...
Thank you for your patience.
Best regards,
Sam
First row is the Limit...
oh my god. This guy's such a noob
Well you got your foot in the door, but the HTML script on a web page is much different than linux code, this will take alot of researching and then alot more research and time.Im not a coder, but i am also learning and have been for a year now and i just barely scrapped the surface.Soo dont expect to develope an app by tomorrow.Expect alot of trial and error.
I guess it's possible but as mentioned above it takes time to learn to code from scratch. However there are a lot of good tutorials on the net which u can use to learn.

I applaud your goal and hope you can come up with something.
I have no idea what's involved.
Just wanted to mention, there is discussion of some ways to view sites in a more mobile-friendly manner (mostly GWT) here:

Good job, now just a few years and you're ready... Jokes aside, it seems to be very complicated to combine html and linux code so it might be a harsh experience for someone like you.
Ok so i used to be a very experienced actionscript user. But i recently wanted to get back into programming so im learning java now or rather trying to.
So im trying to understand the xml side of this so far and have some questions im hoping u guys can answer.
activities
So as i understand it an activity is a screen in an app. So for example the standard launcher on my phone has pages of apps on my main screens. Each one of those would be an activity? And then another activity for when i press the button to display all installed apps?
Have i understood that properly?
intent filters
This is where im getting confused. Ive googled it and read as much as i can find. As i read it, feel like someones explaining rocket science to a 5 year old.
The words component and instances is being thrown around enough that i got no clue whats even being said. What i have understood is it gives data to the activity.
So a best guess from my partwould be its telling it how the screens going to work or maybe like if theres going to be a button on it maybe. Or perhaps it means something different like just the properties sort of stuff like screen size or stuff of that nature.
As u guys can probably tell im confused beyond comprehension. I got no idea how good my grasp is of any of this. But if theres someone out there kind enough to dumb it down a bit so normal people can understand it. Id be very gratefull
Can nobody help me?
Hmm this is pretty basic i would of thought. Surprised its so hard to find anyone who can help answer my question
Had it laying around and found out internet pretty much forgot about that file, so here it is:
