Hi guys,
I found an old guide on setting up Google voice to work with the gtab but it's out of date and no longer works. Any status on getting Google voice setup on Gtab for phone calls / texts? thanks!

I downloaded the .apk from this post:

Sideload-installed it and it fixed it. It moves the "Skip" button when it goes to pull VM settings and lets you bypass that.
Works fine for SMS now...haven't tried to listen to a VM yet.

Thanks, I tried it but I'd like to be able to make a call/receive a call. Is that possible? Also, how are you sending an SMS from it? I can only see the list of voicemails.
I'm running vegan ginger, and just downloaded it from the market. It works fine but you need a 3rd party application like skype to make calls voip. The but texting and reading voicemails is good

You need to make sure you have a regular Google voice account and a Google voice number. There is a lite version which you can only see voicemails. You can check on the glove voice website

Seems to work ok for me - I picked a sipgate number as "this phone's number" so it skipped offering to capture vm.
VoiceMail playbacks fine, notification of VM works
SMS send works/receive notification works.
Calls... don't work (on device, anyway)
Calls don't work because we don't have a app for calls. Google voice can use skype or another similar app to call, but most aren't free

So I use GrooveIP to make calls on my phone, and I've been using it on the tablet at home - problem is, I hate the way groove manages contacts (it doesnt really). The OTHER problem is that, beacuse I just have a wifi tab, my contacts app and google voice WONT let me dial contacts directly from those apps. Is there any way to make it so that my tablet recognizes groove IP as a phone and lets me dial from GV and the contacts app?

No, i mean like - the tab 10.1 doesn't recoginze calling as an action - you can't use "call" as a voice action, you cant click on numbers in the contacts app to call someone. I'm trying to find a way around that. >_>;

Currently that's a little challenging :\ I haven't figured a way around that apart from skype. There was a way to add a Phone.apk module that would allow it, but was still WIP

Actually, to clarify a bit, the effect I'm going for:
In the contacts app included in the tab 10.1, when you open a contact and click on a phone number, nothing happens. I'd like to be able to click on a number and have the option to call it via GrooveIP. ANYTHING to have that kind of functionality would be nice.

Unfortunately GrooveIP hasn't added that feature to enable it as a default/optional choice, Like how when you have messaging, and you download GoSMS, it asks you which you prefer to use. Likewise GrooveIP has to offer that function, or it probably does? But the Phone.apk isn't detected hence it doesn't give the option?
I agree the option the OP speaks of would be nice.. I wote GrooveIP an email asking if this is possible from their end..
Is there no spam call/sms blocker built into the z2? If so how do I block calls/sms?

Hi all,
I'm hoping someone can offer a suggestion for my problem. I have a Note 4 Global and my default messaging app (mysms) will not receive MMS's. It can send MMS's OK just cannot receive.
I've contacted the mysms support and they say it's a problem between my phone and the network. I find this hard to believe as the default messaging app, Textra, Mighty Text and Pulse all can receive MMS.
I want to keep mysms as my default message app as I like the way it syncs messages to my Tablet. Yes, I have tried many others but this is the most reliable. If it would just receive MMS's.
I did not have this issue using mysms on my Samsung S3, it has only happened since I started using the Note 4 so I'm thinking it might be a permissions thing.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

That setting is already checked.
Any other permissions settings?

Yes. Three-dot-menu -> Settings -> Blocked Numbers. You can also block a number directly from the call history.
