Unroot your X10 - XPERIA X10 Android Development

Step 1
- Do "Step 1" from this thread: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=711907 to bring your phone back to old firmware.
- After finish, take the battery out for at least 5 sec, then turn on your phone
Step 2
- Setup your 3G APN
- Go to "Software Update", Check for Update, if will said new firmware is available. Just dont download it, cancel and turn off your phone
Step 3
- Using SEUS to check for update. It will say first time that your phone is up-to-date, choose "Reinstall"; this will flash the original firmware on the phone again.
- After finish the above, check through SEUS one more time to make sure your phone is brought back to original latest firmware.
I can confirm this works on X10i, but I do not know what you will get with X10a since I do not have X10a device on hand.
Please feedback.

It will back to Generic UK or Generic Global? What if someone want Generic Nordic?

That is why you must create your own Branded firmware that is can be flashed with flashtools. Follow my guide here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=730282

Oke, Issue is gone... Just tried it again, and it worked... Loool -.-! Weird thing here!:/

I rooted my X10 simply with Super one click, Super one click had a tab "UNROOT", can i use that tab to unroot my phone?

Ignore me.

nekkidtruth said:
Forgive my ignorance here, but what is the point of this thread? Aside from the fact that you linked directly to the thread with the actual instructions on rooting, you didn't actually give instructions on how to root but simply how to move back to stock firmware.
Unless I'm missing something this thread is completely useless and merely an attempt to rise your post count.

Isnt moving back to stock firmware on a rooted X10 Unrooting?
i also need clarity on this

Do note that when the 2.3.3 update comes out, SEUS will update your phone to 2.3 instead of 2.1. The chances of you rooting your phone after that are slim, until one of the many x10 developers here finds a solution.

someone please make this clear if my x10 is rooted if i connect it to seus it won't find new update ? thanks.

If you want to go back to stock rom and filmware, open PC companion. Select update software and then repair phone. At the instruction on screen, just connect your phone to your PC in flash mode (power off, press the back button and connect your usb to your PC at the same time). When the green light is on, your phone will be formatted and the latest stock firmware and rom will be pushed to your phone.
At the instruction, unplug your phone and power up. The first power up will take a long while. Your phone is stock and unroot.

I don't think this will work on modified phones, last time i've tryed to go back to stock only flashtools would let me.
But I'm planning on skip the official update and wait until root is available, i'm sure it won't take long since Arc is already rooted.

Need some help guys!

hello friend, Raj here.
I have been using the X10i since past 6 months. I bought the phone my UAE & i am presently using it in India.
1) Is there any firmware upgrade available for my phone?
My phone info says-
Model - X10i
Firmware - 1.6
Baseband version - 1.0.14
Build number - R1FA014
2) My phone does not have the Android market application inbuilt in it! how & from where do i download that app?
3) How do i install applications downloaded to my computer from Android market, to my phone?
4) I am not able to access Calender since it requires me to log in to my Gmail account. everytime i try to do that, it says "error, try next time"! is there any way i can start the calender without registering?
Thanks.

Hi.
Yes there is, considering a lot of us are running R2BA026, that should give you an idea of how far behind you are.

Personally, I would debrand and update your handset with UK generic FW, which will give you the Market app, which will answer question 3, and as you need to register for the Market to use it, that also answers your 4th question.
1) Install SEUS (Sony Ericsson Update Service).
You can get it from here: http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/download/1/110/61/1275980198/Update_Service_Setup-2.10.6.21.exe
2) Run SEUS, follow the prompts. You don't need to update the phone through it, but get the phone ready for updating. This process should install the drivers necessary for the rooting process.
Note: I suggest you keep your USB cable attached to that USB port. Remember which USB port of your computer it's attached to, as changing USB ports can lead to a bit of confusion for the next 2 steps!
3) To check if #2 was successful, click on Start, click Run, and type: regedit
In the Registry Editor that pops up, click on Computer, press CTRL+F, and search for this: USB\Vid_0fce&Pid_adde\
After it's finished finding, on the right side you'll see DeviceInstance, then it says REG_SZ, then it says something like USB\Vid_0fce&Pid_adde\5&270d2a78&0&3
You'll need that last bit (in this example: 5&270d2a78&0&3 Yours would probably be different). This is your DeviceID (you'll need it soon!)
Note: You may have multiple of these if you plugged the USB cord into many USB ports on your computer. Each USB port will give a different DeviceID, so if you have more than one DeviceID, you'll have to choose one, and if it doesn't work (you'll find out when you reach #5!) you will have to choose another one.
Alternatively, download the file in the next step and extract it, go to the folder called 1st, and run the DeviceID.jar file. It should give your DeviceID
4) Download this:
http://filevo.com/1nlq8wryo11u.html
or from here: http://rapidshare.com/files/404363083/i_R1FA16_ft.rar.html
Extract it.
In the step1 folder, you'll see a file called DeviceID.txt
Open it up, delete whatever's there, and put YOUR DeviceID (that you found from the previous step).
Save the file and close notepad.
Note: Make sure there are no extra spaces or lines after/before the DeviceID. The ONLY thing that should be in the file is your DeviceID, NO SPACES/LINES (for example, only this: 5&270d2a78&0&3 [yours will probably be different])
5) Take out the USB cable from your phone (leave it plugged into your computer)
Turn your phone OFF
Open up step1.cmd (it's not inside the step1 folder, but outside it), but DON'T PRESS ANYTHING
Now we have to put the phone into flash mode. This is how you do it:
Hold the Back button on your phone, and while holding the back button, insert the USB cable into the phone.
A green light should come on the phone (like when it's charging or a missed call)
Quickly "Press any key to continue..." in the open step1.cmd window.
Let it finish what it's doing. It will say "Press any key to continue..." after it's finished. Until then, DON'T touch anything!
If you get problems in this step, refer to this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6970868&postcount=3
Here's a helpful video for common java issue: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=713457
After completion, this will give you a Generic X10i R1FA016 firmware (check it by pressing the left button, go to settings>about phone and at the very bottom under build number)

Follow those steps and when you've completed them run SEUS which should update you to R2BA026, and give you the Market app. If you run in to any issues read the links provided as the chances are it will be user error if you do.

It isn't, but if want to use the Market you are going to need a gmail account.
I tried using SEUS but failed at step 2 itself!
It says press back button while inserting USB cable in phone & keep pressing back button. i did the same & waited & waited for 5 minutes, but no response!
then my finger started hurting & i had to abort the process! does it take so long?

You're not doing it right, should take about 5 seconds for seus to recognise the phone. Try again.
Sorry for the back-to-back posts, but can i update my phone country to India instead of UK? i think Indian X10s do get Android Market. Since i am using the phone here in India & in future would like to get this serviced in india itself, i would prefer my phone to show India in country!
It honestly doesn't matter. I'm in Canada but I'm using a Latin American firmware. But yes, to get it serviced I guess you need it. How about asking someone with the Indian firmware to dump it for you?
That is precisely the reason i am looking for the indian version instead of UK.
None of my friends have a X10 & strangely, even google dint yield any satisfactory results.
I will opt for the UK update only if Indian update is not available.
Also, i am still not able to open the calender using my gmail account. evertime it says "error! try again later" !!!

so did you manage to update to a newer firmware yet? you said a while back that "holding the back button" did not work. You need to have the phone off before you do this step.
1. turn phone off
2. connect usb cable to phone, but not to pc.
3. open SEUS and get to the stage that it says waiting for phone connect.
4. press and hold the back button (which will power your phone on in flash mode) and connect the USB cable to pc.
SEUS should now say "stop pressing back button" or something to that effect.

Can you clarify, did you get into flash mode for it to install the drivers?
I re-installed SEUS. then I started SEUS, switched off my phone for 30 secs, connected USB cable to computer, then connected USB cable to phone while pressing the back button & kept pressing the back button until the phone got switched ON.
then SEUS asked me to open Notification bar & turn ON USB. i left the back button & did the same. then the screen showed "X10i connected" & your phone is up to date!
then i tried whatever you had mentioned but it was of no use as mentioned in my post above.
Also, SEUS detects my phone only 1 out of 5 times. the remaining times, it takes soooooo long that i have to abort the process & SEUS hangs!
Also, i have noticed that in my SEUS, in the phone models where you have to select your phone, there are two options, both which look like an X10 with names "X10" & "SO-01B". which one should i select? i tried with X10 but failed. then i tried with SO-01B & it dint detect.
You problem is that seus is not detecting your device..
Soln... User a laptop with win xp or vista or 7 32 bit...
Do a complete uninstall of seus. Clean the registry of any seus entries..
Reinstall seus..
Use a different usb port.
Now try..
The device is an x10 unless you your it from japan which if the case is then it is the so-o1.
If you want dump of indian firmware I can help you but I dont think a dump will be of much use to
You..

Can you tell me the disadvantages of having the Indian firmware when compared to the UK one?
I read that even Indian firmware has Android market & even India is getting a upgrade to Android 2.1 along with UK.
I tried using SEUS with different USB port & my phone was detected but again i found no DEVICE ID! the same thing happened which i have written in Post #14.

[Q] Won't boot after step0 for rooting the phone! PLEASE Help

Hi to everyone!
I bought my x10i few days ago and I wanted to install some good custom ROM, and than I tried to root it with this method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=711907
After troubling for few hours to get to the first step because of Win 7 x64,
when I finaly manage to get run first step and finish it, phone was unable to boot!
When I press pwrbtn to turn it on, green led turns on for a second and phone vibrate for a second blank screen is all the time, after maybe 30 seconds phone just stats to vibrate endlessly!
So in attempt to recover my x10, first I was used FlashTOOL and "Generic version 2.1update1 build 2.0.2.A.0.24" firmware and after that same thing on beginning with short led light and vibrate, than a little progress screen does turn on but after while starts to changing colors and behave like strobe flashlight and that's it no further progress!
Same thing and with "Generic version 2.1update1 build 2.0.A.0.504" firmware!
I don't know what to do please help me!
Me first....
Move this to the correct forum please,
I am sure you will get more help in the q&a forum
PS, you need to run flashtool
or download SEUS or pc companion and get back to stock before trying again

As maybe you can see I'm novice here, so I don't know how to move this to q&a forum!
As I already post in previous post I'w already tried to flash stock rom using FlashTool and no luck to me!
And I tried SEUS to update it and I got a message " Your phone is already up to date"
I really don't know what to do now, I'm running out of options!
me second ... ( sarcasm ) {
no f***ing clue why would you flash with oldest fw Generic version 2.1update1 build 2.0.2.A.0.24 when flashtool can root even the latest one.
did you notice that button "root" in flashtool 2.9.x.x here is tutorial in my version:
1. you enable debug mode. last time i used it it was somewhere in settings menu ...
2. see that pointer on your screen that is called mouse you move that with that small device on desk.. right on top of that button.. and you click action button if you are right handed you click right button on that small device and if you are left handed you click left button on that small device. some text will show on flashtool and after few secs it will reboot your device. no worry it is normal no need to call 911. after boot device will be rooted.
}
p.s.
flash latest fw you can find it on xda with flash tool
and do root again using method mentioned before...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746
Here is flashtool with different firmwares.
Read A little, you can always go back to stock.
Try and learn
I was struggling to in the beginning.
Remember to turn always enable debug mode on.

thanks for so much detailed response but don't you think it's a little to much details?
Yes I know that flashtool can root the phone, but it was already to late whe I was find out, I was already brick the phone so I can't turn it on now!
davelinders
I'w already tried all those firmwares for X10i and no luck! I'm hopeless now!
When you use SEUS you should get an update button or repair button or install button anyway.
If not download the latest version of pc companion from SE and try that.
Whenever i "brick" my phone (You cant really brick an x10) I always do that and even when I have "latest" software there is an option to install anyway and that works...
Then use flashtool
1. click root
2. let it do its thing
3. click ask root permissions
4. click on xrecovery.
Then you are ready to go.

[Q] New member new phone (Now a big problem as well)

Hi, everyone I just joined this forum. I have X10i with firmware 2.1. While searching the thread i came acrosss terms like root, xrecovery, flashing, MT, generic etc. Can someone help me out what these terms mean. I wanted to upgrade my phone to gingerbread. Previously I am an iphone user So i am total noob to this OS and the phone
Thanks in advance
good get away from iphone
root--same thing as jailbreak
xrecovery-- a badass tool that lets you flash roms onto your phone.
flashing-- umm... it is like installing a modified version of even the legit version on the device
generic-- A product having no brand name or registered trademark
example= for device there is branded or non branded
branded means that a company like ATT or Rogers approves that firmware or OS version. So when you turn your phone on, you will usually see something related to them. like an animation of the att world
generic--- clean install. no company restrictions. just regular
ok links for all that crap above
2.3.3 firmware (does not matter if you download x10a or x10i)
Generic-----

or use a 2.3.3 rom

What should i Do now One thing more i was goignaround the threads looking for solution So in one thread it said that firmware can ber installed through flash tool 0.2.5
I tried that too and amazingly the flashing goes all the way to the end on 0.2.5 in the end i get the msg that flashing complete and remove the phone but when i remove the phone and turn it on it just vibrates and small blip of green flash led than nothing
What could be the problem
1. Download Flashtool from
http://doomlord.sylvester20007.com/x10/x10_gb/FlashTool_0.2.9.1-GBready_root_xRec.exe
2. Download the generic 2.3 ROM of your choice
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11038646&postcount=1
Personally I would get the Global version unless you can find your country specific one.
Global version download - http://www.multiupload.com/JEXUAHAZTL
3.
a) connect your phone to your PC, make sure it installs the drivers (if your Sony software is working it is fine)
b) Extract Flashtool into a directory you know
c) Extract the firmware file you downloaded. And move the ftf file into the "firmware" directory of Flashtool
d) Make sure your phone is not connected to the PC and is off.
e) Run Flashtool, click on Flash and select the firmware you have just downloaded.
f) It will give you the same instruction - holding the "back" key, (phone still off) connect it to the PC. If you did this correctly, the light will be green and it will start flashing your phone.
g) After it is completed, reboot your phone once or twice and check that it is working.
4. Installing xrecovery and rooting refer to instructions (you already have all the files from when you download in step 1)

2. Download the generic 2.3 ROM of your choice

I have flash tool 0.2.5,0.2.8,0.2.9,0.3.0
Have tried them all only 0.2.5 goes all the way to the end but when i turn on the phone it only virbrates and green led flashes for sec than nothing
When you reboot is there anything showing on the screen? Sony logo...anything? If yes, wait it can take a long time for a new rom to install. If no, I think you need to revert back to the 2.1 rom, root and install busybox, superuser, and xrecovery. once thats done you can backup your rom and data so you don't get stuck updating or if you have trouble with a custom rom etc. Also I think your battery stats should be wiped using xrecovery, it sounds like SEUS checked this and the file said your battery was too low to continue the update. Here is a good place to start.

Try taking the battery out and then try flashing again. Which ftf file are you flashing or selecting in the flash program. You need to use at least a 0.2.9 version of the flashtool.... if you use 0.2.5 start with the 2.1.54 ROM first.

[tut] flashing the bricked or dead x10 mini with the stock firmware

hi guys dis s d tutorial for flashing d stock firmware on a dead or bricked x10 mini.....
NOTE: THIS PROCESS WILL RELOCK UR BOOTLOADER AND ROOT WILL BE GONE
Step 1: Download Sony Ericsson update service software (SEUS) http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/supp...ro?cc=gb&lc=en
Step 2: Install it and open it
Step 3: Now do a hot reboot on the device by pressing and holding both the menu and power keys at the same time
Step 4: Without wasting even a single second press and hold the back button and connect your USB cable while holding Back
Step 5: Do not release the back key until the SEUS identifies your device. When it identifies your device, the update option will appear on your screen.
(It may say that you have a latest firmware already, but you click repair anyway and after the operation starts, You may release your back key.
Step 6: Wait until the update process gets finished and reboot your device now you will have a stock firmware with locked bootloader
feel free to hit thanks if this helped you..
kudo for posting this, but many spelling mistakes and excessive use of txt speak like "ur, u, diz" you may wanna rewrite the post

Hopefully, this will be easier to understand (spelling, grammer & punctuation fixed)
thanx for the opinion will repost it soon
You are wrong, restore a firmware does not restore the lock of the bootloader. Your bootloader keeps unlocked always (you need s1tool to relock)

The phone at least has to be able to boot in flash mode. If it's "more bricked than that" it shouldn't work...
Missing "REPAIR" option in SE Update Service
SE Update Service ver.: 2.12.5.57 (last)
Kernel: nAa kernel
ROM: MiniCM7
There is no "REPAIR" option (see attachment).
It was in older version only? Who knows?
Or does anyone know another way to get back to stock ROM and kernel from the kernel and naa MiniCM7 ROM?
I claim my phone. So I need the original state.
THNX a LOT!
The repair option in PC Companion is a bit hidden, mine is in dutch but i try to show you the steps you have to take.
See screenshot 1, support zone, click start
See screenshot 2, update phone software, click start
See screenshot 3, phone not found (or you have the latest firmware), click the repair link
The repair link is not there if you choose update from the mainscreen in SEUS.
This desnt work. I have got almost standard conditions

Nevertheless I try your way. I found "Repair" link. I walk thru all steps, but It shows "No software available" (it was looking more like "update" then "repair") (see attachment). And then redirect me to homepage of PC Companion (with no chance to Repair).
I have got standard conditions:
Sony XPERIA X10 mini (E10i)
with
Kernel: nAa kernel (last version)
ROM: MiniCM7 (last version)
PC Companion Version: 2.10.053 (last)
SE Update Service (SEUS) Version: 2.11.12.5 (last)
THIS SOLUTION STILL DOESNT WORK FOR ME (I THINK FOR ANYBODY WITH SAME CONDITIONS)
Please help. I'm starting to be clueless :/
Thanx a lot.
I have edited my post, it is PC Companion ofcourse...
What steps did the repair option make you take? with me it is:
1. you will lose all your data, agree...
2. computer will be prepared, choose your model - x10 mini
3. it will tell you how to enter flash-mode (unplug, shut down, press back, plug in)
4. it will download the firmware and flash it to the phone
5. disconnect the phone and restart
as far as i know, the repair option doesn't care what phone you have, or what software it runs, it trusts you to select the right model, and itself to find the right firmware for that, no other checks are performed, it just flashes it.
PS: I was on nAa-08 and GingerDX this time, especially for this post i have flashed back to stock. i have bricked my phone a few times when i tried flashing custom roms and it always worked this way for me, even if you are on stock firmware it will still flash it again.

If it was still working after you unlocked the bootloader, then relocking it probably won't break it.
If it stopped working after you unlocked the bootloader, then relocking might restore it.
In any case make sure you're on stock firmware before you relock.

leave your phone unplugged when you choose update, and only plug it in when it asks to connect in flashmode. It can't recognise your phone when it's unplugged and should give you the repair option, if SEUS doesn't do that, download PC Companion, that will do it.
but the pc companion need the phone to be turned on and my phone doesnt turn on

So, what is wrong with your phone then? is your battery dead?
When you start PC Companion and you don't have your phone plugged in, you do the following:
Choose update
It will say: Phone not recognised (or something like that) and in that dialog there is a little blue link saying Repair. Click on it.
It will tell you you will lose all user data, accept that
It will ask you to select your phone-model from a list
It will download the firmware for that phone.
It will ask you to connect your phone in flash-mode (press the back-button, plug in the usb-cable, the led will turn green, the dialog will disappear and it will start flashing.
No need to turn on your phone at all, but it needs some charge in the battery in order to successfully complete the flash (normally a charge of over 50% is recommended to be safe)
please help me find goog firmware for my xperia mini (e10i)

[Q] Problem with xperia mini pro not turning on after OTA

I bought the phone over the mexican equivalent of ebay, it came with 4.0.2.A.0.58 firmware which is android 2.4.3, once i connected to wifi the phone prompted me with an OTA update to 4.0.2.A.0.62, i accepted it and when it finished the download and rebooted it never came on, i tried removing the battery, holding the button for a long time but nothing worked, after some reading i downloaded the SEUS tool, it detected the phone fine and downloaded a 230mb file which i assume was the latest FW, it said that the installation was sucessful and that i should turn on my phone, again it didn't turn on, it vibrates but the screen never comes on, after giving up on SEUS i read about flashtools, i downloaded the previous firmware that i had which was 4.0.2.A.0.58, the one that was working fine before the OTA, file name is
SK17i_4.0.2.A.0.58_GLOBAL.tft
I start flashtools and select the firmware, phone is detected fine but the flashing gets stuck at
Processing system.sin
Checking Header
Flashing data
i left it running for 30 mins and it didn't move from there, the person that sold it to me says the phone is new and says that it is my fault that the phone doesn't work anymore because according to him he asked in an email not to update the phone or the warranty was void with him, i live in mexico so there's not a sony center i can go for help, i really want to fix the phone, was pretty excited about getting it and now it wont turn on
what can i do next?

Well there must be a problem with the phone already.
Or else why would the seller say "not to upgrade"?
Flashtool was the only option that i would have recommended.
But you say it didnt work.
Are you sure you put the phone in flash mode?
---------- Post added at 09:23 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:21 AM ----------
And by the way, it takes time for the phone to turn on after an update.
Leave it for a while and see if it opens or not.

Have you asked the person from whom you bought the phone whether the bootloader of the phone is locked or unlocked?
I ask this because the people with unlocked bootloader are advised not to accept ota updates as it will brick their devices.

6. Turning the "brick" into a smartphone
If you had unlocked bootloader and did OTA(Over the Air) update, then you probably ended up with a dead phone, aka brick. Don't worry, it is not completely bricked, still can be saved!
Download UnbrickingXperia2011.zip file from this post below.
Unpack the .zip file and place the .ftf file in Flashtool\firmwares folder.
Open Flashtool.
Get your phone to flashmode, make sure it is turned off, press down Volume DOWN button and connect USB cable.
In Flashtool, click the lightning button, pick Flashmode and choose the Xperia_2011_FreeXperia_ALL.ftf file.
Let Flashtool finish.
Install stock firmware and kernel to your phone.
Remove USB cable from your phone and start your phone.
Try not to brick it again, less problems for you.

Last month my lww bricked by receiving ota update.my bootloader is unlock.then I unbrick through the link you mentioned.i confirmed that if ur device is unlocked then it will work for u also.
