Hello, I got an unbranded X10 mini that says it has an OTA update available.
Saw this request over at swedroid.se and thought I'd see if I could help.
Note that this is my first Android phone so give me the n00b treatment
Settings > About phone gives me
Firmware: 1.6
Baseband: Unknown
Kernel: 2.6.29 [email protected]#1
Build: 1.0.A.1.38
And debug menu (MBBMBMMB) gives me.

As you MarylandCookie know , if i got the fota.package it will only be minutes to root
So if one of the two guys is able to do me the tcpdump, i can release root for the people which are still on 38 firmware.
Then we only need a way to flash all people back to 38

Hei Im joining in from norway. I also have a x10 mini with same firmware as noel, the norwegian guy
All who are able to do please do a tcpdump while downloading the firmware over WLAN.
You can also use windump if you are a windows user and have a monitoring mode enabled card.
If you have dd-wrt it would be the best. Because you can install tcpdump right on it and capture all traffic!
Please send me your logs after dump

I have build

and the phone says there is an update avialable.
making a tcd dump could be a bit difficult since I am not using my pc as WIFI source. I will check if it is possible. Since I am a windows user I am just familiar with wireshark. I hope it wolud be sufficient to capture the complete traffic of the WIFI adapter.
BUT
I could also mybe capture from the x10 mini if this is possible. I don't know how, yet. is there an app? or maybe we could use adb somehow. I will check the sdk for a possibility to log the tcp traffic if there is no app yet.

I will try out the win7 tool connectify to configure a accesspoint on my laptop and cap the update of the mini when I am home (~7pm GMT+1)
If your PC has WIFI card, you can try to use any linux live-cd router to setup MINI WIFI connection through PC. And it ready to tcpdump.

Please note that the android can't use Ad-Hoc mode (computer-computer),only infrastructure.
Any versions of Windows and MAC can make only AD-HOC network.
Another way is put PC WIFI (or LAN) card to Monitoring mode (use sniffer, PCAP), but this way maybe some hard for Newcomers.

the mini wasn't able to recieve adress from connectify and i do not recommend this tool, anymore
I did try VirtualWifi and can connect to the pc, but the routing just worked for some minutes and now I tried to start capturing but it fails getting DNS response on query:

Hi guys. sorry for starting a new thread, im a desire owner, but my friend has just bought a x10 mini, it came with donut, am i right in assuming the eclair update is out yet? my friend is having trouble donwloading the update from the sony servers, when ever he tried it returns the error, could not contact update server (or somthing like that).
anyway my question is, is it possible to download the update from another source and flash it from sd? If so could someone give me a download link and also tell me how to enter bootloader ect on the xperia as i know nothing about it. your help is much apreciated guys
at this time there nothing like flash from SD for the X10 series!, the most easy way for your friend is install PC Companion on other computer and other ISP the try to update, also check if the update is present for that kit from the config menu.
U.K eclair should be out for most U.K mini's now..
If your friend is having trouble search the Mini thread for Bin4ry's Flashtool, you can download the U.K 2.1 firmware and install with his flashtool on a windows P.C

Hey guys, I'm having problems connecting to a 3G network with my X10. I don't want to type an essay because it's probably annoying so here's the main details:
- My X10 was originally an X10a branded to Rogers
- Wanted to get the 2.3 update asap.
- Got impatient so I downloaded a flash tool and firmware.
- Phone changed to X10i and got 2.3 right away.
- 3G doesn't work anymore, I'm assuming because Rogers 3G network doesn't run on X10i models.
- How exactly can I get back to X10a and use 3G again? I'm pretty sure Rogers does have the update available now for my original model.
All answers and suggestions are greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

Fixing your dilemma
First get the right firmware:

I would make a folder for firmware an in that folder i would make a unzipped to folder. Then just copy an past it (Firmware) in the flashtools firmware folder (firmware only Not file with firmware in it)That is on your C: Drive.

You shouldnt have any problems using that Rom. Did u set rogers apn for your 3g to be enabled?

the same thing happened to me! i set the correct APN for Virgin Internet and MMS and yet both do not work... Any solutions?

can someone please help me and tell me how I can go from this old rom to the newest stock rom? I also remember I tinkerd with some file to make the multitouch work, so now I am afraid if i just flash a new ROM I might brick the phone.

You can use flashtool and stock 2.3.3 tft file to flash to the latest 2.3 stock rom.
Use search function in the form.

find one.

I didn't told you before the methods I already tried.
First: before reading that many exploits were fixed in 2.3.6 I tried z4root and superoneclick with zergRush.
Both got stuck in the middle.
To fix the backwards direction of hebrew text (the main reason why I need to root this device so urgently) I tried to update from Settings>about phone>system updates (somone somewhere sayd It worked for him) and RTLAutoPatcher-1.5 that needs the rom to be deodexed and mine is not.

I finally found out what i was doing wrong, I deactivated my antivirus and downloaded superclick again and at it worked!!
Now I'll try to find a way to fix the text direction without changing my rom but if I'll must I'll probably end up chaging the rom

last time i was locking for to root the handset Gigaset SL 930. Some potential tools like kingroot&co not work at current android version.
I start my analysis with the handset, wifi and a proxy-server on local network.
The handset call after reboot this URL to check the firmware (proxy log):
