i can't believe i am asking such a simple question but i have unlocked my T-Mobile HD2 and will be in europe (greece) and wanted to add the data connection while i am there. anyone know how to do this?
Presumably you'll be buying a SIM when you get to Greece?? If so, all you would need to do after inserting the Greek SIM, is to go to Start | Settings | Connections | Connection Setup and pick the country / mobile operator you're using and it should (famous last words ) configure all the settings for you.
One thing worth mentioning..... it's probably worth loading the Connection Setup application before you go, select Menu | Update database, then make sure "Update...settings of all operators" is selected, then tap "Update Database". That should give you the latest and greatest settings for when you get to Greece!!
Hope that helps,
Mark.

I may be wrong here, but im fairly sure the tmous (@OP, you did mean a tmous, right? ) only has the connection settings for tmous. Certainly people in the tmous thread using it on at&t have to manually enter the settings. (or use the following...)
Alternatively, hunt around for the 'connectionsetup.cab' cab from the regular leo that is floating around the forum, and run that when the new sim is in the phone.
If you didnt mean tmous, then just run the connection setup you already have, as Mark said above.
@samsamuel - good point about the TmoUS HD2 only having their own settings forgot about that!! The utility is available in just about every ROM I've ever flashed, so I didn't give it a second thought!!
The connection setup CAB file is definitely the way to go (even if you only d/l it to your SD card in readiness for your trip).

Hi there, I am wondering if it is possible for the XDA to work in Australia. I have the upgraded rom from Xda devellopers and have removed the sim lock, but it dosen't seem to pick up the Aus networks.
Any help would be great
What for device are you using? PW10A or PW10B?
Maybe it's a problem with the GSM-networks. PW10A is for 900/1800MHz and PW10B for 900/1900
Have you tried to search manual for any available services?
Stefan
How do I find out the PW10a or b info.... The other version info is as follows
ROM Version; 3.17.03 ENG
Radio Version; 4.21.00
Protocol Version ; 32s54
Sorry, found it....PW10A1
I am guessing no one has any help or info about this. what a wasted purchase.
The XDA/XDA II/XDA III (IIs) do work in Australia.
Where is your XDA from, country? What network are you trying to connect too down here?
I have been told it is from the UK. I purchased it 3rd hand so I can only go by what the previous owner has told me.
In the auto config screen, I get the options for 02 network from UK, Ireland, De and a few others.
I am wanting to connect it to an Optus network preferrably, but any would do.
I have tried Optus (plan and prepaid) and telstra plan, but no signal shows up.
Just clarifying, you have tried Optus and Telstra phone services or data services?
You verified the SIM's worked in another phone?
The sims are able to be swapped into various phones, I have a panasonic gd50, a nokia 7250 and a motorola v600, and an ericson (can't remember what model) and they all work in each other.
The sims are set up as phone service, ie: normal mobile usage, I have even tried an optus prepaid in it.
I am only wanting to use it for the phone service, gprs and net usage is not of interest as yet.
Howdy, I have the same model and it works fine on Telstra. I originally had problems with SIM lock and GID lock, but after upgrading to 2003 from lumpistefans kitchen I've had no problems with it! Good reception and minimal drop out. It's not a waste of money. The ROM i used was the O2 one and did not use the auto config, it finds it for itself and aknowledges the telstra network fine. If you go to an Optus shop they should be able to help, they also have pretty good phone help and should be able to talk you through the settings,
Good luck!
Peace,
Robert
Thanks Ryap. I am thinking that it should automatically find the network tho......is this not the case
I know on XDA II and PDA2K you can select the network or set it to Automatic. Might want to check this setting.
SETTINGS > PERSONAL TAB > PHONE > NETWORK TAB

I think you are confusing the autoconfig of the device with the network setup for the phone.
You can cancel the autoconfig that appears at the end of a hard reset. This just gives you some quick settings for the GPRS and MMS networks - you can add these later after talking to Optus.
Once the SIM is in, you need to make sure the phone is on by switching OFF flight mode. This kicks the phone in. Then if Optus is not picked up as your default network you just go into Settings>Phone>Network and then use the Find Network button and then the Set Networks button. After that you can check the Automatic Network selection button to make the settings stay.

Hi all, thanks for the support so far,
As of now, I can't get any network at all....still.
when i insert the sim and enable the phone it says serching, but thats about it.
I have no idea where to find the flight mode, and when I click on the phone in the settings screen, nothing happens.
I don't get any carrier name or logo come up and appear.
Cheers
Michael
On XDA II (don't have XDA) when the phone senses a service it puts four vetical bars next to the speaker/volume icon at the top of the screen. If you tap the bars it should bring up a pop-up, this is where there should be a line (link) to click on that says "Turn off flight mode". I am not sure if this is part of the original XDA though.
When you clicked on the PHONE icon under SETTINGS it didn't do anything?
At the top bar, next to the speeker, I have a tree type logo and when i tap it it says searching. When i open the phone and then click options, it freezes for about 5 maybe 7 mins and then the settings screen opens, from there it freezes and i can't select anything
Hi all.
I am greatful for you help and support up till now.
I have managed to fixmy problem.
When putting the xda devellopers rom on the pda, ther eis an option calledGSM Band in the programs list.
Well turns out it was set to 900, so i changed it to 900/1800 and rebooted the xda.
WELL HEY PRESTO, IT FOUND THE OPTUS NETWORK
So all is good and all works.
As I mentioned before I am greatful for all the support and thankyou to all who racked their brains over this.
Was going to edit the first thread but couldn't
Currently got a T-Mobile HD2 and unlocked it, obviously I only got edge. Issue is I cannot connect to the internet. No Opera, Facebook, Youtube, Email, Weather, nothing.
I get this error when trying to go on Opera: Cannot Connect
Dialed: Cannot connect for an unknown reason. To check your connection settings and change them if needed, tap settings. If the problem continues, reset your mobile device according to your manufacturer's documentation and try again.
I already reset the phone entirely and still can't connect.
the default mobile data modem is probably set to tmo
settings menu all settings connections connections advanced select network. See what is in teh top dropdown.
T-Mobile Internet
T-Mobile Data
T-Mobile MMS
My Work Network
My ISP
Is there supposed to be one for AT&T? Because this is what I got in the drop down.
Tried using all of the choices in the dropdown menu and none worked. How can I get this internet working on me phone?

you need to manually set up the mms and teh data services for at+t. Search for the settings, and edit the tmo ones rather than creating new, for simplicity

Honestly I would not suggest you look in the TMO section, this is a general data issue that would apply to the TMO version or the standard HD2, you are more likely to find your answers in the standard LEO forum.
strange, two minutes in the tmo section turned up this with a cab claiming to sort the settings, and also these for mms settings
Name AT&T MMS
Server Name....AT&T MMS
Ip Address....wireless.cingular.com
Port number...80
Server Address....http://mmsc.cingular.com
Connect Via....Media Net
Message Size limit....600 (this is the max ATT will allow)
Wap Version....Wap 2.0
and THIS thread claiming to offer another cab with the settings in,
However i wasnt saying to search specifically in there, but from his post history he hasn't been in the tmous section at all. It seems a lot of people with tmous phones just scroll down the first page of xda-dev till they see 'HTC Leo HD2' and stop there without scrolling further down to the ddedicated tmo section below it.

My comment was not meant to stomp on your post sam, just that the standard Leo forum gets a lot more traffic, hence a lot more answers, normally ...
But like you said that info is easy to find , if you google for AT&T mobile data settings, you find the info as well, just was kind of pointing for future reference ....
What about the Auto provider settings when you first insert a sim. When I put my ATT sim in my unlocked import HD2 it told me to choose my carrier "att, tracfone, etc" and it took a few seconds to load. My edge data worked out of the box. I believe this wizard is found under connections in the settings menu.

the regular leo comes with a pretty full list of pre configured networks, i don't think the tmous does.(why would it? supposed to be all for one network.)
however there are connectionsetup cabs floating around, could be worth seeing if it will work on the tmous.
Hi All,
Not a flaming thread at all this but I hope an informative one. I love the Energy ROM and the fact that I mention it here is not to say it is a bad ROM.
I have been battling with MMS settings on my HD2 for a long time. I have never managed to get it to work at all, whatever settings I tried.
The issue it seems was the ROM I was using, the Energy ROM is one in particular. Possibly more but I have had the problem for so long I can't remember what other ROMs gave me problems.
What I can say is that in desperation, ran out of ideas, I tried changing ROMs with the sole intention of testing MMS settings and there it was, I changed to the Artemis ROM and all was well, MMS settings worked.
I am going to do further tests to be 100% sure but one thing I have noticed was that with the Energy ROM I couldn't select 'celular Line (GPRS), it was always greyed out to 'Celular Line'. I think this might have been the problem but as I say some confirmation of that required.
Here are the O2 settings:
http://mobileguide.o2.co.uk/devices/device.jsp?deviceId=614&tab=8&step=2&settingId=2897
I hope this helps someone.

those data settings are for the mobile data connection, , , mms wont send over that data network. O2 require a wap data modem set up too, purely for mms to send over.
when connectionsetup runs at first boot with an o2 sim, it sets up two data accounts, 'mobile web' and 'o2 active'.
mobile web is for, well, mobile web, and runs at full data speed, and the o2 active account is what the mms server settings are pointed at, and connects to o2's wap server.
have a peek HERE for o2 active settings.
The thing that confused me for ages is that when you go to settings connections connections manage existing connections,, it only shows you the 'mobile web' account, until you go to 'advanced - select networks' and change the top dropdown to 'o2 active', when you can then view/edit that account.
dont forget to change that top dropdown back to mobile web, cos if you leave it set to o2 active (like i did today) it uses the wap server for all your data, which isn't as fast as the mobile web server.

I got confused for a while and spent ages trying to work it out. If you go Settings>Connections>Connections, under here you should find two titled sections, Proxy Internet and My Work Network.
What I have is under:
- Proxy Internet>Manage existing connections: contains the mobile web settings
-My Work Network>Manage existing connections: contains the o2 active settings using wap server.
One other thing to check is go to the Sense Message tab and go: All Messages>Menu>Setting>Options>Menu>MMS Server select the o2 MMS (might be named differently depending on ROM). You'll find a list of server details, don't need to touch these, the only thing to check is "Connect via" option and make sure it points to My Work Network. This will pick up the correct wap settings.
Just thought I'd offer my findings.

Just in case someone follows this link and gets confused, the settings in it are for contract, not pre-pay.
Pre-pay:
APN - payandgo.o2.co.uk
Username - payandgo
Password - password
Proxy Tab - 'This network connects to the internet' should be ticked. That's all. No further details are necessary.
What NRG rom are you using? To avoid having to enter anything manually, after flashing one of NRG's rom, when the phone automatically configure network with O2 SIM at first boot, simply select prepay or contract (postpay?) as appropriate. Soft reset. After phone reboots, hit Start, go into Settings, Connections, Connections, then on the Task tab tap ' Automatically configure connection'. Allow it to do its thing, then soft reset. I haven't had to manually enter data or MMS settings for my O2 prepay sim in an NRG rom for a long time : )
Hi,
One of my friend returned from UK and gifted me a T mobile HTC HD2.He says that it was in contract and has brought the phone here.
I am able to use the phone for calls with airtel service provider but not able to edit the settings for internet as it shows only one option i.e t mobile. I am not able to delete it nor i can add the new settings.
Because of this issues there is no internet and my phone looks dull
Is it possible to change this ?

No. there is no way you can edit it. You have to flash a custom rom to use internet services in your t-mobile hd2.
You can flash any Rom from the forum. i am using ENERGY 21916 rom which is very stable and fast with 2.15 radio.
it is best radio for delhi.
and yea next time post your question in general forum.
yes you should be able to set up data no problem.
the easyway would be to run connectionsetup, which should set it all up for you, BUT don't forget to remove the t mobile connection, otherwise it will stay as the default one and not work.
(or see below, "select networks" to stop it being default)
alternatively, to do it manually go settings menu all settings connections connections
then either "manage existing" and then edit the t mo one to your new settings, or "add new modem" to create one.
when its done, go back to the connections connections screen, go to advanced tab, select networks, and change the dropdowns accordingly.
Apologies if this is dumb, but very new to this technology.
I have unlocked a HD2 from 02 using a code and it worked. Calls can be made.
I am using Virgin for connection, but the network shows T mobile. I cannot find a connection for Virgin for the internet though (not listed in the search) The phone is a UK one.
Should I update to a different rom, as I guess the 02 rom has been adjusted to satisfy 02 network.
Hope this makes sense and appreciate any guidance
virguin dont have their own network, they piggyback the tmo one.
Does the phone work?
As above ^^
I used to have a Virgin SIM and it showed as a T-Mobile phone. Just ignore it.
Thanks folks. The phone works as a phone, but I cannot get the internet as it only finds 02 when searching for a network and not anything else. I was supposing that this was because it was originally locked to 02.
chances are the apn settings are still set to o2.
settings - menu - all settings - connections - connections - advanced tab - select networks
that is probably set to the o2 apn in teh top dropdown.
also, in settings - menu - all settings - connections there may/should be a 'connection setup' app, run that
Thanks for the advice. I had a go at that but could not get the thing to switch to Virgin. It was not even detected.
I tried another HTC (never been locked) which is using a Virgin sim and that automatically detects and connects to Virgin from start up, so I am at a bit of a loss to see what is happening with the other device.
