Hi.
I have already download the new w2k5 to my XDAII and now I can´t wyncronize it via USB with the new ActiveSync 4.0
I have tried via infrared and it works, but when i put my XDA II in the credle, and I try to do it via USB it doesn´t works... Any idea?¿
Thanks
are u sure the File/Connection settings/allow USB connection is checked??!!!....... otherwise,u cannot synchronise via USB...
RAGO
Yes, everything it´s ok
I don´t know what could it be... Maybe reinstalling activesync 4.0...
thanks 4 all.
The problem with the USB conection of my xda II and activesync 4.0 still kickin´...
I have read something abaut the same problem in another post? Or it´s just a dream?
Thanks.
It's kinda strange what's happening with u... :?
Now am not sure, but try the following:
*u must have service pack 2 installed(it's a prerequisite)
1-on ur mobile:go to active sync/menu/connections check synchronize all PCs using this connection, and in the window tab below choose USB.
2-try changing the USB port on ur PC.
3-try restarting ur PC,and ur mobile as well...
4-make sure the File/Connection settings/allow USB connection is checked
5-make sure ur cable is functionning well(try another device if u can,or another cradle if possible)
Good luck....
RAGO
I´m trying to synchronize in a IBM T21 Laptop... Maybe USB 2.0 not soported? Does anybody knows if ActiveSync 4.0 and wm2k5 only works with USB 2.0 ?
Many Thanks
spend some time today to make it work.
first check on device manager if under network adapters exist "windows mobile-based device" and is ok (not with ! sign),
then go to control panel at network and internet connection > network connection.if you have network card there will be one local area connection (or maybe much depend how many network cards have in pc).when conected pocketpc (wm2005) will create another local area conection, connect and disconect to see what number have ex. local area connection 2.right click properties then better tick on show icon on notification area to see what is about connection.go to advanced windows firewall >settings.at general tab turn off,at advanced tab unmark this area connection only,( I want to say to unmark local area connection 2 or what number have this connection between pocketpc and pc) leave marked other local area conection (if is present) to keep protect your pc from outside.press ok in that window, now you are back in properties page check at general tab >tcp/ip protocol > properties to be selected obtain an ip address automatically press ok ok again. now in pocketpc go to start > settings > connections > network cards here select connect to "work" and adapter remote-ndis host select "use server assigned ip address" ok ok again.dissconect and connect pocketpc to pc.look at taskbar right-down corner of monitor, near clock, you should see appear network connection icon.first time at every connection between two little monitor will be a red dot going from one to another,in this time computere search for dhcp server to receive ip address,in short time (4-5-6 seconds) link will be active icon will be clear not fading like previous and the two monitors will blink.if this is not happened check on control panel > Performance and Maintenance > Administrative Tools > services if dhcp client is started,if not start it manual and change startup type to automatic.if until now everything is ok disconnect pocket pc, dezinstall old version of active sync install version 4.0 build 4343 restart pc.after pc started up connect pocketpc to pc,it should work.if still not work dezinstall active sync and from control panel uninstall windows mobile-based device disconect pocketpc restart pc install active sync and connect pocketpc,in this way windows reinstall networ driver and now must work ok.
btw I forgot to tel to check at active sync allow usb connection.
good luck.
Thank you very much for everything gabiz_ro.
Ok, I´m going to tell you what I have realized trying to follow your instructions.
Firstable I don´t have that you call:"windows mobile-based device" Or I didn´t find it... I have looked at Lan or Internet connection.
Then, I have tried to find out the conection that you talk abaut that it must be created when I connect my PPC, but I didn´t find it too. I tried to find it conecting the XDA II via USB and via Infrareds (remember that via IRDA does works)
Finally I changed at my PPC what you say abaut remote ndis host, I saved it, and disconnected and connected again, but it didn´t appear anything at taskbar right-down corner of monitor...
I don´t know what to do... And I´m sure that the problem is hosted the new activesync 5.0 or in wm2k5, cause one hour ago, when I came back to w2003se, I synchronized the ppc correctly with the credle via USB...
I´m feeling very weird with it, cause when I put the PPC in the credle (with wm2k5 and actvesync 4.0) the normal sound of the PC when you connect something reconigzed, don´t sounds... what I hear is the double "tun tun" that sounds when you connect something not recognized.
Many thanks
wm2003 is identified by windows as usb device.
but wm2005 like a network connection.
first
right click on "my computer" > properties > hardware > device manager.expand network adapters, and here when conected pocketpc to usb you'll see "windows mobile-based device"
second
local area conection 2 (or other number,in raport with how many network cards are installed on pc) you''l find in start > control panel > network and internet conection > network connection.but appear only when xda is connected if xda is disconected that "local area connection" dissapear too,and xda must be identified and driver installed (windows mobile-based device show without any ! symbol in control panel).infrared connection will not work here.on that local area network who represent connexion between pc and xda right click > properties and mark show icon on notification area.....
if you hear other sound like you say, maybe xda is not identified or windows didn't install corect driver.take a look to see in control panel what is wrong.expand universal serial bus to see if ther is some unknow device or something wrong.
there is control panel print-screen and taskbar area prinscreen.
Ok!
I think that finally thanks to you we have discovered the problem...
I don´t have everything you talk abaut in the device list...
But what I have is this: Generic RNDIS (PROTOTYPE- Remembber to change id Vendor)
It is with the yellow alert icon.
But what could I do to put it right?
thanks
YEEEEEEEEEEES!
Problem FIXED!
That was the problem... It was not recognized, and with alert yellow icon... Thank you very much gabiz_ro, if you´ll didn´t helped me, now I would be changing back to w2003se
Thank you very much again
ok.
glad to can help.

Greetings pocket pc freaks
I have an Advantage x7500. I've installed the WM6 ROM here. My problem is I can't connect to my Advantage via Windows Mobile Device Center on my Vista box or ActiveSync on my XP box. The computer makes the expected sound when the USB connection is made, and in ActiveSync I can explore the device, but that's it. In WMDC, the error message for RapiMgr is "Windows Mobile-based device failed to connect due to communication (0x80072745) failure (see data for failure code)." I've done a lot of searching before I posted this and found a lot of posts (so at least I'm not alone). I've disabled firewalls, AV, anti-spyware, but no change. I've also uninstalled and reinstalled WMDC and ActiveSync. I do notice in Device Manager no Windows Mobile Remote Adapter under the Network Adapters node. Under the Mobile Devices node is HTC USB Sync. Any suggestions would be appreciated as I've been beating my head on wall on this. Thanks.

Thanks, but been there, done that. (I didn't want to waste everyone's time so I did use the search button first)
As I mentioned in my prior message, in Device Manager there is no Windows Mobile Remote Adapter under the Network Adapters node. Do those of you using WM6 have such an entry for that adapter?
.
I have the same problem, but in Vista.
Sync has been working fine, but now suddenly it wont connect.
.
ps: sync on my SPV C500 works perfect. It's only my X7500 that won't connect.
..
lo and behold.....xman06's solution in the other tread worked for me.
"Try to go on setting connection usbtopc and disable advanced network functionality and ok"
perfect

Thanks, but been there and done that too. (The downside of searching first is that all the usual solutions have been tried)
Tell me, under Device Manager do you have Windows Mobile Remote Adapter under the Network Adapters node? And under the Mobile Devices node do you have HTC USB Sync? I'm missing the former; that may be the issue but I'm not sure not knowing if others have it or not.
I bit the bullet and did a hard reset (too bad that doesn't work on spouses ) and ActiveSync started working again.
Kaiser / TyTN II WMDC Activesync no connection
I have the same issue described above. And no, the solutions given don't work. Not even a hard reset.
I am not sure what the issue is. Any ideas?
Similar problem solved
I had the same problem and went through many steps like those posted in this forum. I'm going to show my steps to solve this problem without hard reset your phone.
1) When the phone is connected, at the phone ActiveSync setting delete the PC profile.
2) Unplug the phone from the PC.
3) Uninstall and then reinstall the ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Center.
4) At phone system setting -> About -> make sure there is a name ID. Without this the PC cannot identify the phone and thus cannot sync.
5) Set the USBtoPC with 'advance network..." enabled.
6) To the extreme, before step 3, go to PC windows\inf and remove infcache.1 (need to add in an administrators account and set the privilage to full control). That may remove old corrupted drivers.
This page was coming up on the top list of google so i'll post my solution here.
I also spent hours trying to find the problem
uninstalled/reinstalled WMDC/Downloaded the latest version etc/Hard reset TYTN II/followed endless google searches, followed the instructions here etc etc.
Similiar to the OP i had windows making the "normal ding dong sounds but no connection happening.
In the finish what fixed my problem was with the device plugged in go to Device Manager on the PC and in "Network Adapters" select "Microsoft Windows Mobile Remote Adapter" and right click "Update Driver Software"
That got me back connected.....Hope it helps someone else out
Did it worked? I can't install WMDC without having my Pocket PC conected and when I have it it doesn't install anyway...
hey guys, if you have firewall installed disable it until the connection is made with your computer and phone, then re-enable your firewall.
this seems to be the problem solution for me all the time. Hope it helps.
Guys, I've waited to find a solution, it's been almost 10 months, and I wonder if I'm the only one with the problem. I can sync via USB cable, but not via Bluetooth. My setup:
Computer: Vista Ultimate 32bit running WMDC v 6.1
PPC: Dopod 181pro G3 WM6 PDAViet 4005b.
Any help appreciated. Thank you.
You must change AS config. on your PPC for BT connection
What do you mean? Under my BT in my PPC, I have ActiveSync checked. It does try to connect with WMDC, but it just never actually connects.
Has anyone gotten bluetooth sync to work under Vista and WM6? I'm starting to think there is either something missing on the WM6 PDAViet, or the Vista BT stack is missing something.
So, find the bluetooth settings in Vista. I can't help you much here since I'm using a german version.
Systemsteuerung\Hardware und Sound\Bluetooth-Geräte
(Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Bluetooth-Devices?)
Open the panel and select COM-Ports, and add a Port for an incoming connection. Don't forget to pair the devices and tell the WMDC its allowed to use Bluetooth connections.
hope it works for you
p.s. I can't get my WM5 device to connect, its an hx4700. My Hermes works fine (WM6). Any suggestions on that maybe?
Ok thanks all, I finally got it kinda working. Kinda, cause it doesn't work all the time for some strange reason. The only thing I did to finally get it to work is, after I paired the PPC and computer up, I went to the BT icon on my desktop and clicked it open, and selected the 'HTC Phophet' icon, and under the service tab, I checked off Activesync. Then it was able to connect. It took a while to connect though, and also sometimes, it would not connect. Also, the speed is really slow, for example, to browse my PPC folders takes a very long time. I wonder if it's my upgraded radio rom. I will see if rebooting or soft resetting the PC/PPC would solve anything. Thanks again.

if you see "serial port" instead of "active sync" during getting them to 'see each other' you may check "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\SerialPort" key using regedit.
you have to change it to your bluetooth stack's incoming COM port (usually COM7). You will probably see "Bluetooth" in that key. just change it to "COM7" and restart the computer then rebind the devices.
it worked for me on my vista.

Will check that out....
OK, did a search in RegEdit for
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\SerialPort"
but it didn't find this....
I do see
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\" with several subfolders in it....
One folder is called 'Extended Serial' and another is 'Services'....
Can you be verify the path to the item I should edit???
Thanks!

it is not a path but it is a REG_SZ (string) key.
sorry, my mistake. I should have written SerialPort key under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services.
see the attached image.
it was "Bluetooth" before I change it.
I had no option to select COM7 in WMDC because it is marked as "used" in another registry but changing it and reinstalling the bluetooth stack is a harder way to fix. so just change it to whichever port your stack is using for incoming serial. you must have an option to check it in control panel.

Weird thing is that my X7501 and laptop can 'see each other' but still doesn't sync....when I click on 'sync' in ActiveSync on X7501 nothing happens and on laptop Mobile Device Center says 'Not Connected' and Sync Center shows the partnership with my X7501 as 'grayed out' looking.....
Not sure what you mean by 'you must have an option to check it in control panel...
Any suggestions as to what to check now???
Why Don't I See 'ActiveSync' Listed in BT Services List?
Seems that the problem I'm having getting my 7501 to sync to a PC via BT has to do with no having ActiveSync show up in the list of available services in BT partnership settings.
I just see Serial Port listed, not ActiveSync.
Could it be that I need to install ActiveSync again?
I'm using Vista on PC so I thought it uses Mobile Device Center and Sync Center which comes built-in to Vista. So didn't install ActiveSync myself...
Does ActiveSync install anything onto a mobile device like the X7501?
Thanks,
Mark
Frustrated X7501 BT Sync'r.....
GOT BT Sync Finally!
Just thought this might help someone else down the road to know what the problem turned out to be on why I couldn't BT Sync my X7501 and my laptop....
I called HTC this morning. They were actually extremely helpful!
Turns out that my laptop was using BlueSoleil BT software instead of MS BT Stack...deleted BlueSoleil and restarted and voila! MS BT Stack installed and then I could see ActiveSync service on my X7501!!!!
Who would of thought about that.....

I have the same problem. Seems to be a fairly common one. My WM6 PPC (with Active Sync) will not sync via bluetooth to my Vista Ultimate "powered" machine with WMDC. No trouble syncing via USB. Also no trouble with bluetooth pairing of the PPC and my machine or sending files (directly) from one to the other via bluetooth. Just no syncing of Calender, Tasks, etc. over bluetooth. Kind of infuriating.
Also possibly worth noting---I had no trouble syncing same PPC to my old XP powered machine with Active Sync. Why did Microsoft insist on "improving" on something (Active Sync) that worked just fine and was straightforward to use? Vista and WMDC in particular are steps backward in my view.
Pointless griping aside, the symptoms suggest that bluetooth stacks are working, that active sync and WMDC are talking (over USB), just no syncing, suggesting something is inconsistent in the way the ports are set up, just as others have implied in this thread.
Incidentally I tried everything listed in this thread, including the Regedit modification (all of this made a lot of sense given the problem) and still get no response when I try to sync over bluetooth.
On my ppc the only options for com ports are COM2, COM4, COM6 and COM8. Does this matter?
Help!? Please.
Thanks in advance for any input.
Well, as for myself, it tured out that my problem had something to do with the pocket pc ROM I installed, as posted in the first thread. It would sync a few times at first, then never again. So, all this time (years) I've just done it with USB wire.
Now I just got done upgrading my Prophet to Ultimate v 2 ROM. And my BT active Sync is now working like normal. I knew from the description of the first paragraph there was something wrong with my flash of the new ROM or the ROM itself. Anyway, now it's working like normal. It's now time to go fix my headphone jack that is stuck in headphone mode lol. I need a new PPC!
Hi There,
I have upgraded my Atom Life to WM6 (latest version from O2 site). Everything works well. But I have problems with syn via bluetooth and IrDA. Please see my problem below:
Before syn with bluetooth or IR, I can syn with USB well.
* For IrDA:
+ When I choose syn with IR from activesyn menu on Pocket PC it shows "Attention required" then I click on this it shows "Connection Not valid: cannot open the connection 'infrared port'. This connection does not exist or no longer support. Select a difference connection or try again"
+ I am sure that: IR in range and I can do this many time on WM5 as well as send and receive file between my Atom life and My Laptop.
* For Bluetooth:
+ When I choose syn with Bluetooth from activesyn menu on PPC it show "Cannot find an existing Bluetooth partnership with a PC that supports ActiveSyn Would you like to set up Partnership now?"
+ I am sure that: Bluetooth in rang and pair with my laptop, I can send and receive file between my Atom life and Laprop. I can syn via bluetooth with WM5 many times.
If anyboby know what are the problems and solutions for these please let me know. If you can point me some document that would be great.
Thanks in advance
I dont own Atom Life, however sounds like you havent got the COM Ports configured properly...with MS generic bt drivers add (Incoming connection) port (usually COM3 is selected by default) after adding the port go to Connection settings in Activesync and under (allow connection to one of the following) select COM3. Assuming you have already paired your device now go to bt connection settings in device and tap your PC name then tap refresh, wait until it discovers A/S, tick the box then add a com port on your device too. I usually select COM6 but I do not believe it matters. good luck if that doesnt work then you should ask O2.
PS...if you already have an existing partnership and its not syncing, then delete partnership from PC and device and start again.
Thanks for your information but I still not work. I did check carefully incoming connection port and I also configured allowing connect wireless on ActiveSync to connect this port. Every step, I think correctly because I configured and sync with WM5 in the day before I update WM6. I don't know why It happens when I upgrade to WM6 then I could not syn with Bluetooth and IrDA. Maybe, I should get help from O2 support centre.
I have an issue with my VZW Touch Pro not being recognized by MDC and have torn out what little hair I had left trying to solve it. I know there are numerous threads of this type and I've read every one I can find but my situation is a bit different (aren't they all ).
Basically, when I hook up the TP via USB to my Vista machine MDC doesn't come up. If I launch it manually it comes up, sometimes flashes the "Connecting" message very briefly then goes to "Not Connected" and sits. OK. So why am I baffled and what have I done? Well....
1. If I set the TP to connect as a "Disk Drive" (as opposed to ActiveSync) Vista recognizes it and asks me if I want to explore files and folders, I can see the storage card;
2. In PC to USB I've tried both WITH Advanced Device Configuration enabled and not enabled;
3. I've installed Activesync on another (XP) machine to see if the TP will connect to it and get the same behavior;
4. I've removed the Remote Adapter and USB Synch in Device manager (following the standard MS troubleshooting guide) so that Vista installs the USB driver, just to make sure;
5. I INITIALLY installed MDC on this machine when I was trying an HTC Fuze. At that time MDC worked fine, recognizing the Fuze and asking me what I want to sync, etc.;
6. Since that time I've uninstalled and reinstalled MDC (several times) JUST IN CASE, although it shows NO existing partnerships;
7. I've turned off and actually removed the firewall even though, as I said, MDC worked fine before.
8. On the TP I've set ActiveSync (I'm hooking to an Exchange Server) to sync "Manually" and Windows Live to sync "Manually", JUST IN CASE that was the problem.
The only reason I really even NEED MDC is that I want to use eWallet and need to sync between the PC and Touch Pro.
I've used the TP as a modem for my laptop via Modem Link successfully, but while ML is set to USB the service is Stopped. Would THAT have any affect on this: one thing I've noticed is that when I plug the TP in the PC (sometimes) displays a message to the effect that it's trying to connect to a wireless LAN?????
Sorry for the length of this message but I figure the more info the better and this really has me stumped.
Thanks for any ideas.
if this helps yo in any way here it is.
i tryed to hook up my TP via WMDC on a Toshiba Tecra Laptop, with USB or Bluetooth and in the best case i managed to send files via bluetooth ... and the WMDC does not recognize the device, it installs some drivers for the cable (i think) and does not find any for the device, so ... it does the same thing as for you, tryes to connect for a second and after that it goes on a endless brake ... never connecting
on the other hand, i had no problems with a dell inspiron, with wista, it installed the drivers instantly and got connected immediately. the same with a Win XP dektop PC using activesync ...
i`m beggining to believe that the software is sort of defective on the toshiba. now i just send file from it and us the dell to sync my TP. i gave up on connecting the toshiba.
Pretty sure you have already tried this...but different USB cord maybe?

Thank you!! Solved my problem.
This seems to happen a lot... I just replied to another post in regards to this (though they replaced their Touch Pro). Instead of disabled advanced network functionality (which does let you sync), you should try this to repair the error as it has worked on a friend's Pro, as well as mine (I just had to do it 40 minutes ago). And make sure you re-enable advanced network functionality BEFORE doing this:
1 - Hook up phone to computer
2 - On phone, start ICS (Internet Sharing in Start -> Programs)
3 - Select PC Connection "USB" and Network Connection of any type (if Sprint stock ROM, I recommend using "Sprint")
4 - Hit the "Connect" soft-key (bottom left)
If you've never used Internet Sharing on the phone, your computer should install some drivers... Once that is completed, click the Disconnect left soft-key on the phone. Now disconnect the cable from the computer.
Close out ICS or soft-reset the phone.
Once the phone is back up, plug it in - it should work.
I don't know what is getting reset in the phone, but unless I connect with ICS, then ActiveSync will not connect whether I soft-reset or not.
