So after seeing this today:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=700311
I thought I'd try it, as my HD2 currently won't display any Chinese characters, and I happen to like trying to learn Chinese.
Anyway, so I installed the cab on my device, did some things, and then later soft-reset it. Now, when the Lock Screen appears, it's not accepting my password. I'm 100% certain the password is correct, and I've tried enough times to make it ask me to enter "a1b2c3". Still no dice after rebooting.
Any ideas? Or am I forced to hard-reset my phone and lose all my data?
Thanks,
Jaxbot
it work great on me

Can anyone help me with this issue. My Sprint Touch Pro with stock rom randomly locks, asking me for a password to unlock it. I had never set this feature up. As a troubleshooting step I set up it and then turned it off, but my password does not stick. So when it locks like this I am force to soft-reset it. Which wouldn't be so bad except that it erases my exchange server settings everytime this scenario happens. Any ideas? I have S2U2 installed, wonder if that is part of it?
bump bump bump
I had something similar happen to me, except I manually set-up the pw lock. It kept saying I was putting in the wrong pw even though I know for sure it was right. I had to do a hard reset just to access it. Although I heard you can bring it to sprint repair store and they can bypass the pw and tell you what it is.
I have a sprint HTC TP that i have modded with numerous different WM 6.5 ROM's. After the flash is complete i usually sync the phone with the exchange server at my office to get my contacts, email, etc. The exchange server forces me to use a simple password to lock my phone after 15 minutes so in the event its stolen after 10 failed attempts at entering the password it will wipe the phone. WM 6.5 automatically enables the slide lock so when my phone is off for a period of time it locks via the windows slide lock and the exchange simple lock. every few days when i turn on my phone i get a message that the device will be erased after the next unsuccessful logon attempt also the swipe lock button says slideslide and doesnt work. I have to perform a soft reset and when the phone boots back up it erases everything including my SD card. Any help would be appreciated. I have tried Juicy 7, db and a few others but i dont have their names. They all produce the same errors. Im trying not synching my exchange account to see if the simple password is the culprit. Any help would be appreciated.

I use this rom and it doesn't SLIDE lock when i turn the screen off... It goes right back to the home screen.... So it might help you.
Its funny you mention that ROM because thats the exact one im currently using and on my phone it does automatically use the slide lock.
The lock feature in WM6.5 has been an issue since the start. I have seen a few roms in BA and Fuze that work rather well with it (including with the exchange server), but I have seen a crap-load of reports from people with similar issues to yours. I don't know how far advanced the 6.5 development is for the Herman, but if I were you I would probably stick to Mighty 4 Reborn, Fallen 2.1, or some other 6.1 rom. Stay away from 6.5 if you must use the rom for heavy, work-related, daily use.
Also, take out the SD card before SR if you see that the phone is telling you that it will format your storage. Good luck!
Thanks egzthunder1 i think thats what ill have to do.
JSYK i did some additional testing and the culprit appears to be active sync. I set up the lock using a simple password and had no problems. Then i added gmail account with lock and also had no problems. I connected to exchange server with direct push and the problem started re-occuring.
same issue

I got exactly same issue you had. My phone is from Bell and had no problem with mighty 4.16 and original ROM. It just happen on Mighty 5 and doesn't matter which build. the latest one I tried was 21234.
Another thing I figured out was it happen on every Monday night around 8:00PM to 10:00PM. If anyone know how to fix or solution. that will be appreciated.
This happens very often
Hi,
this is phone independent issue,
I've already opened thread for it - till now no solution:

Hey Everyone. I have a extremely annoying and stupid problem with my phone
I have Z5 Premium. What happen is that my phone was always locked with fingerprint and pin number. BUT, for some reason after installing some applications and launchers to try on my phone my locking system sometimes didn't work. Some it lets me just to swipe my finger and I unlocks the phone, without asking for pin... sometimes it asks and sometime it don't, it started to be very annoying so I wanted to check if I change it to password instead of pin if it will be the same. The good news is, it looks like it fixed that problem and the bad news is my phone is so f***ing safe now that I can't even unlock it my self!
I created that password for very temporary time, for some extremely stupid reason I used password which I never used it anywhere else, it was only 4 letters and at that time it looked very easy to type and remember it but I was wrong... I reminded it for 20 mins than I felt a sleep for a short nap and when I woke up, its gone I'm trying to guess that pass and unlock it for 4 straight days now!!
I know I can do hard reset and start again from scratch but I don't want that. I just made all the setups for my phone and everything and I don't want to loose whats in it.
So what options do I have? I found quite few good methods but usually I'm not able to do one of the steps in it..
I tried Google Device Manager method, it didn't work because I already had password not a pin or pattern so it didn't let change pass
The best one I found so far is to flash a script through CWM to remove my pass. The only thing is my phone is stock at the moment and unrooted so I don't have CWM. Another problem is I don't think USB Debugging is enabled on my phone which creates even more problems in my situation I couldn't even get my phone into normal recovery mode when I tried with this phone, anyone know how to do it?
So guys, what options do I have without resting and deleting everything on my phone again?? Please help me, as this thing drives me crazy form 4 days now... I want to smash my phone into wall or my fu****g head because I set that pass up...
Ps. Is it possible to do a android backup on my phone? with looked screen and debugging disabled? but somehow so it doesn't backup my lock screen pass to? I dont think so my self but may be Im wrong..
thanks
I just found another method which I will try now, it could work...
nope, usb debuging needs to be enabled on that method too.. :/
never mind "helpful people" sort it out by my self.. how do i delete this threat??
Hi, I have the exact same problem but I want to hard reset the phone as it is new. What should I do to achieve that?
Alright, so at first, google was working fine. while the phone was locked, screen off and it was in my pocket, I could say "Hey google, start a timer for 5 minutes" and it would confirm and start the timer.
Then I updated... and for a while it was saying "Sorry, I can't do that while the device is locked, go ahead and unlock the device". I followed about a dozen suggestions online and one of the suggestions (I'm still not sure which one) worked.
BUT: There's now this problem of: if the screen is off and I say "hey google, start a timer for 5 minutes": The screen will turn on and show the pattern unlock screen (as if it wants me to put in the pattern). If I leave it alone, the screen eventually turns off and google finally responds with "ok, starting the timer"... but then it never actually starts the timer until I pull the device out and unlock it.
Another strange thing is that it won't use the google assistant voice I selected (I selected a natural-sounding male voice but it still uses this robotic-sounding female voice).
I've been through countless forum posts, suggested fixes, have tried everything from restarting to the phone to clearing cache, uninstalling/reinstalling google assistant, changing security settings and even went as far as to factory reset the entire phone... nothing has worked so far. The problem I think is that all of those are solutions to problems that are SIMILAR to, but not exactly like, this. I'm wondering if anyone else has run into this specific problem and if you have: were you able to fix it? How?
It's just really annoying :/ This used to work so well. I used
PHP:
it for EVERYTHING. Now it doesn't really work at all unless I have my phone out and unlocked
Darn, it IS actually still telling me "actually, I can't do that while the device is locked. To keep going, go ahead and unlock the device". SO yeah... still just doesn't do anything at all if the device is locked. Only way I can get it to work is to uninstall all updates... but then it it reinstall those updates whenever I tell google play to update all. If I want to avoid that I guess I just have to go install updates individually/manually?... :/ This stinks. Just want my google assistant back to how it was working before (aka actually working - while the device is locked).
Hello!
I'm facing a very weird issue with my HTC U11 Life.
I've been using it for years with the same pattern and fingerprint, and out of the blue, my pattern appears as wrong while I haven't changed it.
It happened for the first time after restarting my phone (I switch it off pretty often though).
The fingerprint is recognised, but the pattern isn't.
I have no other option on the screen than the emergency call (no "forgot pattern"/enter password/pin/connect to my Google account), and the "find my phone" doesn't show anything ("Can't reach device"), even if it's connected to my home regular wifi.
Not sure it's relevant, but I tried to deactivate the pattern a month ago, as I'm using that phone only at home. But it sounds like it didn't go through.
After browsing forums for hours, I tried a few steps, all unsuccessful.
Using the ADB tools, when I enter the bootloader, I run “./fastboot reboot bootloader”, after which I see the device show up in “./fastboot devices”. Then I try to run “./fastboot boot twrp.img” for the HTC U11 Life, at which point I see a “Device corrupt, cannot be trusted” message. So I seemingly can't progress without flashing my phone, which I don't want to do.
I should probably also mention that I have another phone (Google Pixel 6), and I tried to put my home as a "Trusted place" for my Google account, but it unfortunately didn't change anything.
I saw the hard reset option but I can't afford losing any data on that phone, and I believe there is a solution given the fact that I can provide the right fingerprint and any password, if they're requested.
I hope your fabulous community can be of any help.
Thank you very much!
Take it to a data recovery specialist if you really need the data. They might be able to recover it.
Either a hardware failure or possibly malware, or a Single Event Upset.
Always redundantly backup critical data. Avoid encryption if possible. Use an SD card as the data drive if you have that option.
Hey Blackhawk!
Thanks a lot for this super quick answer, I really appreciate it
I should admit I have a hard time believing a malware attack, given that I was barely using Internet on this phone. So that indeed must be a hardware failure or a Single Event Upset. Go figure!
That's a pity that there is no solution to that, especially that my fingerprint works, which is super frustrating. Anyway, too bad, I guess I'll factory reset as it's my only option.
Have a great weekend!
seems theres no way to fix this

There is. A factory reset. The data partition was somehow corrupted. If it reoccures then either the firmware has been corrupted or there's a hardware failure.
Anytime you set a password for device access, you are the one most likely to get locked out. It may be through no fault of your own however had no lock had been set you have a higher probability of retaining access.
NEVER set passwords for backup drives. Always keep backup drives isolated from everything unless in use.
