While I was copying data from internal memory to sd card, i deleted windows media. Now, i can't listen to any song and the phone doesn't ring when you receive a call, and all apps that use voice doesn't work. What you Suppose to do? i was thinking to hard reset but i don't if it will work again.
Please Help!

Hi all, I have gained lot's of valuable info from this forum, so I thought I would give some info back.
I have read about load of people having problems with data disappearing from their SD cards.
I have owned a XDA 1 for just over 1 year and have used it with a Toshiba 512Mb SD card without a single problem. I have stored data on it, deleted data, defragged, MP3s, films you name it no probs at all.
Then I installed SKYPE Version 2.0.0.39. I know you are supposed to have WIFI for Skype but I just wanted to check out the software.
Anyway enough of that the point is, about 2 days later I was watching a film off the storage card, 15 minutes into it the device went into an audio loop and required a soft reset. After trying to resume with the film I found out the storage card was completly empty no files at all  It may just be a coincidence but I think the SKYPE was responsible. I know oter people have reported similar storage probs.
Missing data on SD Memory Card
I've had it happen a couple times, and I don't use Skype.
The first time it was the card itself. The last couple times, I was able to restore the information on the card with the Backup Utility.
I think it's a bug in the device, damn frustrating, too.
As with most any computer, you better be backing up regularly!
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
Has anyone had problems with the Storage Card completely dying? I cannot read my 1GB miniSD card on my Wizard device at all any more. It started being weird yesterday but after a reset I was able to access the data, but today it is totally gone.
A 16MB one works fine. :? These cards don't generally die that easily do they?
I think it's what they call SD wipeout. I've experienced the same problem a number of times already.. the only solution ive found is to ensure my sd card is in write protect before i insert in on my unit. its really frustrating..

What I do about this
I turned my Card's ''Write Protect" on. I think it might be a good way.
I Have the some problem with my O2 XDAmini
SanDisk SD 1G
Me too. I had an experience of having the SD card (512MB Kingston) completely wiped, and another experience of partial (just the 'Program Files') directory. I can't remember that I've did on the 1st one, but as for the second wipe (partial), I'm trying out a new software that is installed in my SD card, however, I guess the software is not WM5 compatible and I have to had it uninstalled. I did a two soft-reset in the midst of the program running (e.g. hanged). Later I tried uninstall it, but not successful, so I just went into the card and delete it using Explorer. Then later, I've noticed all of the icons of programs installed in the SD are 'gone', only then I realised that my 'Program Files' folder was wiped.
I'm not sure how to prevent this problem, but now, I tried to had my card out before I do any soft-reset, especially in times where software hangs.
Probably it is good if all of us just try to recall the events just before you've experience a SD wipe out, probably we will find some pattern to this.
Hello
Since yesterday my phone keeps turning itself off and then on again. I have a suspicion that it is due to the internal memory being full. I am also suspecting that the files that I delete are never really deleted. I keep getting the memory full message no matter how many files I delete and apps I uninstall. I also remember once going through my sms inbox, deleting old messages and threads...only to rediscover them in the inbox after changing SIM cards.... They were never really deleted.
Is there no thrash can to empty in order to permanently delete deleted files?Any other ideas on why the phone keeps turning itself off?
Thanks!
Does anyone have any clues as to why the phone keeps turning itself off? It's getting really annoying and I would be very glad for some advice!
Thanks!
I would try a hard reset or flashing a new ROM. This is a very common problem with Windows Mobile, and can usually only be truly cured with a hard reset or flash.
Ok. Thank you. Will be difficult to back up first though, since it keeps turning off all the time...
Does anyone know of a good program to back up sms messages by the way? So that they are saved to a file and can be deleted from the computer.
Thanks!

Need a little bit of help if anyone would be kind enough to do so.
My Samsung galaxy s screen is no longer working. But the phone turns on fine and i can hear people calling me, alarms going off, receiving mms etc. but i can't access any of the memory on the phone.
When i hook my phone up to the computer, my phone is set to ask which mode it goes into. So i haven't been able to access the files that way. Even though the memory cards show up on my pc, they just can't be accessed.
I've been told that if i return it to my carrier, they will delete all my files and reinstall the operating system before fixing it, as its policy. Is there any way for me to copy the files on the internal sd card to my computer?
I'm slight bit of a noob, so would need a little bit of a walk-through in how to do it, if its possible.
I have the verizon/motorola droidx. My problem is when I use the widget for making a direct call to a contact, alot of times my phone's MP3 player will start and stop non-stop without being turned on, disrupting the call I'm trying to make. The other big annoyance that my droidx does is when I recieve a text message, and sometimes even my email, I will recieve them anywhere from 2 to 5 times in a row!!! Someone PLEASE help me troubleshoot these issues. My phone is stock, it has not been rooted.
if Keith at root, go into recovery mode, then select wipe cache and wipe data permision
sorry i use translate.google
Every time I connect my phone to my computer via USB even after I've disconnected my phone, the following 2 things happen (that I can tell): My ringtone goes back to "Default" (i'm using a custom one which is saved on the SD memory) and my music playlist (the only one i have) goes empty. No music file is missing, they're just removed from the playlist, and they, too, are on my SD memory.
What can i do to fix or circumvent the issue?
The problem is not that it happens while the phone is hooked on the computer, but that it persists AFTER i disconnect it. In other words, after disconnecting the phone, i have to manually rebuild my playlists and change the ringtone again. Is there a way for me to transfer data between PC and phone without having to "reconfigure" the phone after the process? Or better yet a way to use the USB normally without the "reconfiguring" having to take place?
Hope you give me a rply masters
Thank you
