I'm having the same problem. It works well the first time it boots, but then when I try to boot again it shows that message. I've already reformated my SD card about 6 times in as many ways and still no fix :/

same problem here. not sure what is going on. It happened after the first reboot from Android back into WinMo

I had the same issue. found this in the thread for shubCRAFT, in the first post.
"If you get unable to mount sdcard plz replace set cmdline "rel_path=Android" with set cmdline "rel_path=Android loop_partition=mmcblk0" in startup.txt"
Also if you run Froyo.. DO NOT delete the Android folder from the root of your SD card.. thats where you are supposed to put things.. 2.1 or sense.. i do not know about that, don't use them.

I had the same problem a few days ago and could never figure it out. but i started deleting folders on my sd card such as .footprints and the android folder and the .lost files folder and rebooted the phone and it loaded the card. I am thinking it has something to do with the folders or something loaded in it. for me it will restart android while in stand by and then it will try to load android and cant mount sd card. has been annoying until i started deleting folders and it worked. figure i would share my experience.

yeah im having this same problem...with almost every rom
atfirst the darkstone series worked but now it doesnt
i have reformatted my sd card alot now and am trying again
someone figured a way out?

the only trick that works with me
Hi,
same story; formatting the SD with different tools does not solve the problem, at least with me.
Occasionally I have this recurring problem (but I believe is something related to the kernel) and the only solution always working with me is to:
- remove the android folder
cheers

Hello,
I am having the same problem too. Fact is that sometimes Sense crashes when I go back to WM after my first boot on Android. When I try to boot back on Android I get the same message. I have used the Darkstone build and running dutty's creme ROM.
I have also tried on another SD card, same problem.

i've had exactly the same problem. deleting the "android"-folder did a perfect job

Found Solution
I had the same problem and formatted my cards through windows several times and tried several Android program still no success.
Then on one of the websites they recommend to use this SD card formatter that complies with SD card standards and now can boot Android without any problems on my HD2.
http://www.sdcard.org/consumers/formatter/
Please let me know if it works for you.

That didn't work for me but thanks for tip.

this only happens to me when using a 16gb class 2 card. what are you all using?

8g class6, deleting the "android" folder is the "best" solution for me...

Hi! I have the same problem on my HTC Touch Diamond. (DIAM160) Everytime I boot HARET.EXE It starts to boot Android but it always stops when it wants to mont SD card... Iv'e tried to format SD memory but its the same problem.
Someone help?

sd card problems

hi,
i have a t mobile ppc edition.i have a 512 mb sd card, and when i install programs on my sd card after 2-3 days all the programs are erased and it keeps happening.can anyone help me pls?
there is a problem with sd/mmc and multiple inserts/removals. Its a bug of WM200X and there is no fix for it. I unlock my sd card only when I need to change the data on it. Otherwise my card stays locked. Do a search on this forum for "Multiple SD" and "SD Erase". Good luck!

This bug only on wallaby's (XDA 1) running "WM2003 " it doesn't happen on WM2002.
I have an XDA 1 running 2002, and the SD card wipe problem also seem to happen to me.
I have an O2 Rom version 4.01.12 Eng.
According to this page: http://www.kbalertz.com/kb_843287.aspx
the problem might be related when two or more programs try to access the same files, so the data becomes corrupted and apparently being wiped...
Anyone have a solution or a suggestion?
I tried to follow this thread for a fix (Rune quoting spadb): http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=7230&highlight=sd+files
I can find in the registry a reference to a SD.DLL, but can't find it under file explorer, even when displaying hidden items.
Maybe one of you other XDA1\Wallaby users can find it in your device?

Should be located directly in the windows folder. i think you have to enable your device to see all files. Normaly dll's are hidden...

Can anyone else confirm this? i really dont like PPC2002 but i dont want a wipeout again...
I'm afraid I can't confirm that, I tried to format many times as FAT32 or FAT16 and I experience the same problems as before...
Try this patch, it worked with me 100% on my Wallaby device with no SD erasings since more than 3 months 8)
Use any registry program (Resco Explorer 2003 is great) to install the registry keys or enter it manually..
Don't worry, the patch is non-destructive at all !
( you can do a backup before running this patch if you wish  )
i saw stefan has a much longer version of this. does anyone have any experience with either file? BTW should i even do this if i have never had the problem before?
cheers
Similar problem on XDA II
I have noticed a similar disease on my Qtek 2020 (XDAII):
When I run it with an SDCard 512 Mb there is no problem at all, goes perfect, but as soon as I put in a brand new 1 GB SD card it crashes within a day or two. And it is irreparable... I've sent back one card to the supplier, but now on my second try with a new card and after reading in this topic I begin to felle a bit coldsweating... :x
Anyone else who has specific experince of this on XDAII?
Yup. went to use navigator today and found my SD card was nor showing. Tried it in a digicam at work which crashed the cam.
In my card reader here format shows as RAW and am having a help of a job getting it reformatted.
I use the XDA II
I also face similar problem, what i used to do is just take my sd card out and re-insert
and it worked for me
removing and replacing the card has no effect for me.
can anyone help with formatting an SD card (1GB viking) that is "unreadable" in a card reader and in RAW format??
pretty please?!??

Phone restarts itself when in android

I am on stock 16GB sd card class2 and HD2 stock battteryI tried 2GB class 2 and 8Gb class 6. I am on Radio 2.10 and even upgraded to 2.12.Lot of SODS and phone restarts automatically.
After SOD windows won't load up and hangs at Stick together logo and will never go forward. Need to take off the battery and need to wait for couple of minutes and after wards it loads.
After getting into Android, gets again SOD and will reboot and when I get back into android, will try to check email or make call and then again phone restarts itself.
Any ideas.
I am on Darkstone latest release froyo2.2 with today's update i.e 18th August and tried all kinds of ROMS.
Any help is appreciated.
do you hspl3 your hd2
Yes it says 2.08SPL when I enter in tri-color mode.
Any help on this?
this has happened to me as well, using mattc 1.5b with Cloudy 1.6 winmo ROM
Radio 2.10.50.26. I am unable to provide the cause of this, just seems to be
random.
Could be corrupt files on you sd card. A bit time consuming, but doesn't hurt..
- Copy your sd card onto your pc.
- Format sd card (fat32)
- Copy everything back
I read somewhere that this problem can be caused with mounting your sd card from your phone via usb. I know I had a lot of problems with Android seeing the new files I copied over so I stopped doing it (connecting via usb).

Can I load the stock firmware , and install HSP3 and start running android?
Do I need to have a different ROM to run this? All I understood was earlier there was a sound issue but not now..Can I do the above step?

I had this same self-reboot issues, regardless of android build, even after deleting and re-creating the android folder in the sd card.
Following is how I managed to solve it:
Take out sd card and use card reader, mount it on a winxp machine.
Copy ALL files to a backup folder in pc. Use 'xcopy /e /c *.* c:\sdbak\.' for example, as normal copy/paste wouldn't work if it found errors due to corrupted files.
Use sd formatter. Refer to this thread. Do a Full format; a class 2, 8GB will take around 10 minutes to complete.
Copy back each backup folder into the formatted sd card, one by one. Recreate and copy your favorite android build onto the sd card.
Reinsert sd card, boot up and start android from fresh.
Let us know if this works for you.
i did do full format in xp before and have random reboot problems. Maybe something happened since then, ill try this tool.
Did it and no dice, still reboots. Im gonna try another suggestion about uninstalling setcpu.
setcpu
this restart happens to me everytime i use setcpu im on shubcraft 1.4b with the r4 overclocked zimage labeled NewKernels_LatestGIT_r4_BTalternative it just started happening with this zimage. are you using setcpu try uninstalling it it worked for me! i never had this prob with the original zimage! hope this helps!

It doesn't work. It still reboots inspite of doing all the above steps.
I have the same issue with crashing back to windows mobile when inactive, this is only recent for me, previously Android was solid as a rock. Guess I will try a build without adding apps or settings and see if it crashes, then add apps one at a time.
Does anyone know of a way of catching the error/crash reason?

Just a note, shub and darkstone's builds gave me random reboots. Ive moved to mattc's nexus based build and it has been super solid.
I have installed mattc 1.7 and zimage r11 with all .ko files and no longer experience reboots in android, I use task manager and setcpu also, its worth trying a this if you have probs

SD Card doesnt mount in Android, xrec is ok

I have recently upgrade to android 2.3.3 and am using EWJET as a rom.
I cannot access the SD once Android OS has booted. All apps and the system/settings says SD Card isn't mounted. Tried multiple installs, nothing works.
All 2.1/2.2 Roms are fine.
If i tap back during start-up and access xrecovery I have normal access to the SDcard and can flash packages etc. So the phone is able to access the card ok.
My SD card is the 8gb that came with the phone and isnt partitioned in anyway.
However in the past I did have it partitioned, but not now. Incase I am installing 2.3.3 and the rom wrong, ill tell you my steps.
Factory Firmware 2.1 flashed
rooted, busybox and recovery installed
Flashed X10i_3.0.1.G.0.75_only_kernel_baseband
then install the EWJET rom as per his instructions..
I pray I am only doing the above steps wrong as I desperately want the SD working on 2.3.3.
Any help would be appreciated.

you try pulling it out and blowing on it like an old nes game...
jk smiles but have you tried perhaps throwing the sd into a computer and just formatting with different cluster sizes or in general formatting the card. Might need to use an adapter.
Happen the same thing to me but with wolfbreaks rom... some people told me to re-flash the rom but it didnt work. The funny thing is the the sd card will work on any other device, and any other sd card will work on the phone... havent try re-formatting the card cauze i dont have the adapter but it should work

you might want to get an adapter. A while back i tried setting up a sd-ext partition on a 4gig card and long story short the only way i was able to run a format that gave me back the 4gigs was throwing it into an adapter
Had the same thing when I updated with stock-2.3.3.... At the time I had it partitioned in 2 partitions...
I connected the phone then with my pc, and there it was, alive and well.... So I backed up the entire card, that is, the first partition, where all my data were; I powered off the phone, took it out, found a adapter, deleted the 2nd partition with Partition Wizard Home Edition Minitool, made the sd-card 1 partition only, formatted that partition, and then I copied all my backed-up data back to the card
Then I put the card back in the phone, booted and voila: the card was recognized again by 2.3.3....! and now it functions ok!
Hope this helps, greetz, good luck,
kwarkje

Anything new on this?
for me it is a little different. The card that came with the phone works fine with the GB update, the thing is that I got another phone, this one came with a 4 Gb card so I took the one in the x10 with all my pics and put it in my new phone and put the other new card in the x10 but it doesn't recognize it...
I've tried with 2 different cards, in xRec i can read it, back up, etc, but once in android its like there's nothing there. Tried formatting it with no results....
What could it be that it reads the original x10 card and no other?
Ive got no idea, but its annoying. Im gonna have to go back to 2.1 which sucks.
We need to some how figure out whats causing this. Ive tried everything.
2.3 seems to be the problem.

[Q] nook tablet Can't access to my internal card

Hi, I have installed CM7 on my tablet. First all was OK. I wish to upgrade to CM9 and I'hve had problem. I search on web and I read that somebody with the same problem have unmount all on his internal card and reboot and reinstall CM. I have made the same and since I cann't acces to my internal card ! Joint to photo !
I may only use CM7 from my external card but impossible to write or to access to my internal card
Sorry for my bad english, I'm french
Nobody wish help me ?
Nobody has same problem and have resolved it ?
why don't u just redo the whole thing? Go back to B&N software then root to cm9.
I can't do that. i've replace B&N software by Cyanogen 7 who has crush the original !

.
i am sorry, please explain a little bit more. so cm7 was installed and working fine. And it was internal so you got a 16GB unit... and then you tried to install cm9 internal ?
Hi,
At first time, I've replaced the BN system by CM7, It work fine.
Than 3 months after, I see that now we may change CM7 by CM9
I decided to make that, and on a internet page I read that we do unmoot all directories on the SD card. Also on recovery mod I unmoot all directories. Than I put CM9 zip on an external SD card and I select install Rom from zip.
Recovery say it can't find directories (system, SD-ext, SD card, Boot....) and instll done !
Since I can only use my NT with system on an external card. I can't access on my internal SD card, I can seen it on my PC browser, but it say "no media in".
i did some checking on 'unmount'. i must admit. i am a dos/windoze expert and a linux idiot.
O'reilly says : "System administration command. Unmount filesystem specified by directory. You may also specify the filesystem by device name. umount announces to the system that the removable file structure previously mounted on the specified directory is to be removed. Any pending I/O for the filesystem is completed, and the file structure is flagged as clean."
And the key in the above definition is "removed". For me and my 'dos' box, that would be like 'nuking' it... So my advice is to go here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23982333&postcount=1
Repartition, Reformat, Restore and Rescue SDcard.
best of luck.

assert failure on acclaim-update = wrong build prop info your pic shows this clearly as assert failure
Lars for tobdaryl
seems I remember the build prop in CM7 had to be edited to see data - anybody?
ro.additionalmounts=/mnt/media
ro.void.switchablepair=/mnt/sdcard, /mnt/media
the 2 lines above will fix your data access problem; I think
the assert issue is looking for a BnN NT as from factory (build.prop) which you no longer have you can replace the build.prop with a stock one or unzip acclaim-update and comment out the asserts and rezip
CWM backup is your best friend please use it before any major change so you can return!

[Q] htc hd2 doesn't start

hello,
Okay, the problem is: my htc hd2 doesn't start. At all. Not even in magdlr. It just keeps black.
And afcourse it could be broken but this is what happened:
I wanted to use my sd-card for my phone, but it didn't work because the last owners put android on it.
So I searched on the internet and did the clockworkmod. But when I came to the boot part, it didn't work, and it got stuck there. And nothing worked, so I took out my battery (not the smartest thing to do I know) to restart it. But then my whole htc didn't start!
Did I break the battery? Or did I break the whole phone? I'm desperate!
And is it because the mod (which I already deleted from my sd card with and micro-sd-usb)?
Thanks for the answer (if I get them)
bent battery pin?
new problem
alright i fixed it but:
I tried to download the clockworkmod on my htc hd2. But now i'm stuck in magdlr.
If I try:
- boot wph it says: wph not installed
- boot AD SD - sd kernel open failed
- boot AD NAND - NAND kernel open failed
with hardreset it just starts up but then goes into magdlr
with reset and powerdown too.
Help? And if I connect my phone to my laptop it doesn't say it's connected...

no, it probably won't until you install some android drivers. (Install 'myphoneexplorer', , no need to actually use it, but it handily installs android usb drivers)

alright, thanks! I thought wp7 didn't have to be installed, because I bought it from someone who put android on the phone. (windows phone 7)
I tried to have an sd version of android on the sd card, and I do not exactly know what you mean with: "have you set the default sd folder for magldr to look in for it" (sorry, i'm bad at this stuff, I just wanted to put apps on my phone again, which didn't work because the sd-card didn't work, (and that is because of the last owner...)
I thought a nand android was just the android system? Like, you build it from windows to android right? The last owners did that already, or is it something whole different?
But I will try and await your answer
I just want my phone to start up again! haha, I do not really care about the sd anymore, as long as the phone works!

unzip sd version of android into a folder on teh sd card (lets say you call it 'android'), , then in magldr choose services - bootsettings - ad sd dir and set it to 'android'
then, services - boot source - android from sd to boot automatically to that sd installation.

alright, so I tried to use the amercian android... but now it's stuck on the grey boot screen. For like an hour now, and I reformatted the sdcard already. And tried twice again.
But do you have to run the clrcad.exe and haret.exe even if you run it with magdlr? Because those don't work for me. I get: This is not a windows 32bit application.
