Some suggestions:
1) update to the newest version (kaosFroyo is at v38, I believe)
2) look through the kaosFroyo thread to see if others are having similar issues
3) try a different ROM
It's good to try different ROMs anyway. They are all a little different and you won't really know which one you like the best until you try several.

I've tried a bunch of these ROMs and most of them have so much junk packed into them. So far the cleanest smoothest ROM is:
[ROM][GPL] CELB Froyo 3.5(Trackball and Led notifications working )10-26-10
Conap keeps all the junk out for you to install yourself. All these ROMs have a little camera issue. If you leave the camera app open and walk from your phone it'll reboot the phone. I can live with that one.
Try that CELB Froyo 3.5 it's really smooth.

For the camera issue, try using Vignette (awesome 3rd party cam) or camera magic.
Btw, my rom is pretty much modeled after conap's, so you can included FroShedYo in that list too ... less junk... more phone

Totally agree... worth every penny fo sho! Camera magic is damn nice for being free, too. And it's the quickest to activate ... but picture quality isn't as good as Vignette's.

I was wondering if anyone knows how to port the new Droid X Multitouch keyboard on to the MyTouch 4g? If you've never used it, it's fantastic. They have it now working on the Evo 4g here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=753343. I've tried to get it to work on the Mytouch 3g with now avail. It will install, but just force closes. I'm picking up the 4g tomorrow and was really hoping to get this keyboard installed on both. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Ultra Keyboard is the exact same thing and it works perfectly. Multitouch, and WAY customized. Multiple them make it look like any keyboard from Samsung, Stock Android, and HTC. Great app !!!
Thanks, looks like a great keyboard but I really like the simplicity of the Droid X's keyboard. Plus, I see where it says that multitouch is included, but I guess it's in the background like the stock Android keyboard. The Droid X's KB lets you hold the shift button down, while typing other letters like "true" multitouch and dare I say . . . the iphone's kb. Ultra KB looks like it has some great features, so I may use it too, but still want to find a way to port the actual Droid X's keyboard to the MT4G like others have with the EVO, etc. Thanks!
Works the same way. You can just hold the shift and type. Using it with the HTC theme it looks just like it. Either way, I am sure someone can port it over.

Thanks for post, using it right now. I've got quite used to the size of the Swype keyboard, but prefer the text correction of the stock version and this one seems to be better yet, definitely a good addition for the platform.

The predicitive text is streaks ahead! !
I installed this and am getting the 'force close' loop. Are there good ones and bad ones out there and if so which works best with Streak on official Froyo 2.2?

How do you revert it, as it has buggered my Android keyboard now.
Info
If you choose to install a custom rom (steve's) then you are fully able to customise it (ironically) if you want dell official then you cant do an awful lot with it. You will have to wait till someone hacks it and posts a new version here (like o2 2.1 release) paul from modaco is well known for mastering this sort of work...
NOTE... IF YOU ARE ON DELL OFFICIAL...DO NOT TRY UPDATE.ZIP FILES (unless you actually read that is is somehow compatible)
As for fixing damage... I would re-flash your current rom and if it doesnt fix then you will have to factory wipe/reset.

Technically it replaces your Default Android Keyboard because it's the 'Default Android Keyboard' for 2.3. The only thing you can do is backup LATINIME.apk prior to flashing to backup your Froyo Android Keyboard.
Can someone post the zip for the stock 2.2 keyboard? I'd like to flash that one.
I really like this keyboard but I have a couple issues with it. Its not a dealbreaker but is there a way to make the keys larger like the stock 2.2? The big issue I have with it though is that when typing in portrait mode when I hit the space 3/4 of the time it registers as enter. Anyone else have this problem?

Are there arrow keys anywhere in this? I really liked that in Swype you just swype form swype key to abc/123 key and it brings up the arrow keys. Anything like that here?
nice, but too small, my swype is twice as big.
woops, overwrote the official keyboard, oh well I have a nandroid backup.

Unknowingly and stupidly, I tried it on my Dell Streak that is on official 2.2 and now am stuck with Dell logo.
Kindly advise me the way out. Thanks in advance.
Edit: Nevermind, just figured out. Did a fresh install of official 2.2 and it works now.

Is it possible that the launcher works only with Gingerbread and up...? Maybe someone on MIUI or CM7 can give this a go.
Most likely it only works on GB as the above poster said. i900 already has official gb in odin form. Anyone with GB test it plz?
TouchWiz 3.5 froyo work fine for me, no fc.

Any questions, problems, or comments? Leave them here for others to reply! Let's keep the developmental thread clean of stuff that is not related to the development of the ROM (untested features, untested kernels, third party apps, etc; pretty much anything other than what comes stock with the rom). That's why that thread is in the development section. Now with that in mind, post away!
Keep up-to-date with the rom here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18900441
first thing i did after flashing the rom, i benchmarked it using neocore and compared it with the results that i got on miks 6.5.8. the results: the oxygen rom consistently scored 2 fps more than miks 6.5.8 on 245/600 smartass
looking good so far! only cons:
no fm radio (maybe because of the bluetooth problem?) and stock video application (ah well i can just download a third party app)
scrolling is not so smooth

i am just as confused. ive followed each direction carefully...flash rom, then gapps.
perhaps it wasnt included?
and as i have read, oxygen was also built for battery life. that doesnt seem to be the case so far. i have wiped battery stats but it is going down pretty fast. must be that battery drain issue in franco.kernel v18 (im already at 93% after only 52 minutes)

I'm talking too about stock oxygen (standard Gingerbread) keyboard as you can see in attachment. I tried it after I saw your post and before that I installed lg stock, probably it is not connected, but you can try, here is the link:
